@Losingthetimber I’ve said on a number of threads that I would never comment on someone’s weight in the same way that I don’t want anyone to comment on mine. It makes me feel exceptionally self conscious when someone has mentioned that I’ve lost weight but then no one knows I’m on MJ so it’s not like I’ve announced my intentions, it’s no one else’s business!
Maybe they are like me and keep quiet about it even if they’ve noticed. In exactly the same vein I wouldn’t mention someone had put on weight either - it’s just rude.

congrats though, it’s so good to feel better and lighter (in more ways than just the scales).

hmm, I know these women, I understand on here a lot of folks get self conscious and hate comments, personally I prefer to address the elephant in the room, and I also am aware that when people make a concerted effort to lose weight, ignoring it when it’s signficant can be perceived as odd. But no, this wasn’t they all thought it would be insensitive to pay a compliment. I really don’t see this.

as said, it’s just musings, they are all lovely, so it is no biggie, just a musing that the men were very complimentary and the women silent.

EVK · 16/02/2025 14:38

@Losingthetimber yes, it’s strange and got me musing too! - I get the social etiquette of being polite and sensitive to people’s feelings when it comes to mentioning weight but it’s easy to compliment someone without explicitly mentioning weight loss - you know - you’re looking really well, I love that outfit on you etc. 1:1 not in front of others (especially if you’re all friends who’ve worked together for a long time.) I do think it’s unusual that not a single one of them has said a word.

I was at the school gate - seeing the children in last week and one of the mums who’s children I’ve taught in past came
up to me and said ‘I’ve been meaning to say to you how great you look - have you lost weight- you look great’ she then said ‘It must be all the walking you do’ (she often sees me
out walking) It did take me by surprise but I could tell she was genuinely being very kind - I just said - yes, I’ve been trying hard to shift some weight and thank you! She does have ADHD so maybe it was an impulsive thing she thought it and said it before her social filter kicked in?! Perhaps generally women are being super careful about what they say ? I seem to get more people saying - you don’t need to lose any more. Also some who ask direct how much I’ve lost and how much more I’m planning on losing 🤣 (that’s mainly one of my highly competitive friends who seems to take it as a personal challenge!) She’s lovely but doesn’t like to be second at anything 😅 We were a similar weight and since I’ve started losing she’s been on a diet too. People are funny and it is a funny old world!

HansHolbein · 16/02/2025 14:40

Hi everyone, lots to catch up on!

We had a great time in Poland. It was absolutely Baltic. We visited Auschwitz-Birkenau on one of the days and I don’t really know what to say. It just felt so unfair. I have also decided that I am never stepping foot in an airport EVER again. Too busy, too faffy, too waity… just no.

Anyway, it has been lovely to read all your updates. I’m going to try and tag as many people as I can in my mammoth replies Grin

@Fizzleawayyy1 For the past seven injections I have done my thigh. After some weird side effects on 7.5mg @letshavetea recommend my thigh and it’s been a breeze since then. No side effects, no problems.

@lickycat Congratulations on your first stone! Happy for you.

@rockingbird I am the same with anything sweet. Easter is going to be write off for me too. I just don’t care or think about anything sweet any more. Really hope you don’t have to wait too much longer for your hospital stuff. It’s so draining. I’ve also had some mental dreams when I’ve gone up a dose!

@Losingthetimber 21% is fucking incredible!

@MissSmith80 Wonderful that you’ve smashed those 3 goals. Well done you.

slibberydibberly is a patronising shit stirrer who isn’t even on the jabs but likes to preach to the rest of us about what we should and shouldn’t do so I couldn’t give a fuck what they have to say and they can get in the 🗑️

@TwinklesToes Fanastic well done! Great that you have no side effects. Enjoy the new nicks! Mine are also falling down… need to sort that out.

@NearlyNewHip Enjoy the lipstick! You deserve it.

@Tohaveandtohold Relieved you broke the stall! I think I’m due one soon. Best of luck to you on the new part of your journey.

@igivein 4 stone! 😮 Incredible!

@recklessgran Really happy for you, I know you’ve struggled. Enjoy the lovely baby cuddles. Can’t believe she’s 8 weeks already.

@femininomenon Fab. Agree that 10mg seems to be magic!

@JustKeepsBreathing Really hope you’re feeling better now.

@surreygirl1987 Woohoo! Well done.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Lovely wedding dress 👰 Totally relate with the spending. Amazon must think that I am dead. I kept that place going. I do get the dizziness sometimes. Usually a couple of days after jab day, it’s 2pm and I haven’t eaten yet because I just don’t think about it.

@lapuf Lovely NSV’s!

@Bluenose1966 Gosh you look wonderful! I’m so happy for you.

Current stats for me

5’5 PCOS
SW 16st 2.7lbs/102.8kg BMI 37
CW 12st 5.4lbs/78.6kg BMI 28.9

Did my 3rd 10mg earlier on and honestly 10mg is the magic dose for me. Feel the effects all week, it doesn’t wane on day 5&6 and I am consistently making good and healthy choices with no effort. No side effects, no issues.

My PCOS symptoms have pretty much stopped and I just feel great. Need to get some size 14 clothes as the 16’s are baggy now.

Everyone has started to notice which is nice. If I’m comfortable with the person, I’ll tell them about Mounjaro but it really depends on who it is.

I’m with Cloud. They are happy for me to get to BMI 21, which puts me at 9st/57kg. They are happy for me to stay on some kind of maintenance dose for however long I need, which I expect will be for life. No amount of eat less move more bullshit will sort out the endocrine condition that is PCOS.

Feeling so good and so grateful. Lots of love to all.

Losingthetimber · 16/02/2025 15:25

Congrats at @HansHolbein that’s a huge amount of weight, I hope you feel good. 10 is also the magic dose for me too, long may it last like this. I’ve taken 7 x 10mg and no let up so far.

@EVK , adhd mum sounds lovely. And yes weight is such an emotive topic.

.

femininomenon · 16/02/2025 17:55

Week 18 and another 2lbs down, still loving the 10! Not much else to report this week, I tried on some clothes and got a bit disheartened as looking back through pictures/weight logs on Fitbit they were all things that fit me when I was around 10lb heavier than I am now but not one thing I tried on fit yet! So despite weighing less I must still be bigger overall, I am going to ask my PT about measuring my muscle mass as I know whilst it's hard to get an accurate reading it will hopefully reassure me that's the reason!

UtterlyQuackers · 16/02/2025 21:13

Read an article that 1 in 10 women are using weight loss jabs. Good on them!

There's 3 guys at work that are taking the jab. I feel a bit of a fraud not admitting it, but my business is my business!

Keep up the good work!

The scaled finally budged this morning! @HansHolbein do you think you'll stay in 10mg? I was hungry the day before jabbing but did not eat over my calories.

I will have to buy another pen due to the scales being stubborn but I have been doing a lot more weight training so assume I have been making muscles. At least that is what I keep telling myself!

Still unsure of what I am going to do at goal weight.

Does anyone know if any suppliers will take you on for maintenance later on or do you have to be with them before?

Hi, I am the same, I have clothes that I am itching to get back into and have previously worn all the smaller clothes I own at my current weight, yet I can’t get into them yet. My one pair of favourite jeans do fit, but badly, they are tight around the waist, but far too baggy on the thigh and as they are bootcut they just look awful. It’s very annoying, however the weight will have to come off my stomach at some point, so I will just keep going!

What do you mean later on? Straight from goal or with a delay> I don’t think many let you stop then at some later point start. Except oushk lets you pay a monthly fee and you get up to a year I think.

femininomenon · 16/02/2025 21:52

@Taxiparent yes absolutely i know the inches will suddenly start dropping and the positive of it all is that now is when i would start to think about giving up but not anymore!

@UtterlyQuackers i had the same last week, a manager from another team (who I barely know) was sat next to me in the office and was telling me all about this amazing mounjaro she's taking, I've decided not to mention it at work and definitely not to someone I don't really know so just had to sit making polite conversation all about how it works even though I know it all Grin

lapuf · 16/02/2025 22:14

Loving the positivity @HansHolbein!
Do you think it's a bit of stoicism from visiting Auschwitz? I was nearby a few years back and didn't visit, still regret it. I'm part Jewish and feel like it would affect me too much but also feel guilty for not going. I need to plan to go!

I saw my best mate (of 25 years) for the first time since I started and she's not mentioned my 2st weight loss but I've been a bit of a yoyoer in my 40s (albeit October was the first time I tipped into borderline obese) so she's probably used to me at different weights.

And I forgot to jab tonight as I'm away (brought the pen), so thank you for the inadvertent reminder everyone. Popped on mn watched threads and remembered I had a task Grin

HansHolbein · 16/02/2025 22:14

@UtterlyQuackers If 10mg continues to work as well as it is I will definitely stay on it. I’ve been very impressed with it.

HansHolbein · 16/02/2025 22:27

@lapuf Very interesting re stoicism; I think you’re right. Also part Jewish and knew it was always something I had to do. My son took it very well. He kept saying ‘but they didn’t do anything wrong, mum’. I had no answer for him really because he is completely right.

I knew that other groups went there too but the tour guide said that for someone people that ended up there it was just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Harrowing.

On the positive side, Kraków was beautiful. So many lovely buildings and lovely food. We went to the Jewish Quarter and visited the Old Synagogue - estimated to have been built in the 16th century. It was wonderful. Here’s the link if you’re interested > https://muzeumkrakowa.pl/en/branches/old-synagogue . It’s a museum now but full of history and information.

Sorry for the derail all!

Get jabbing Grin

Ideally I would like to go it alone, if I start piling the pounds on then consider a maintenance dose?

I think I am scared I will put weight back on and not be able to start mounjaro again until I've undone all the hard work!

Edited

From what I can see the only folks who let you do that is oushk, where you pay a monthly maintenance fee and you can restart within a year, I am not aware of anyone else who lets you do this, it’s back to scratch 30 bmi stuff, unless it’s a couple of months, but you can ask your current provider.

Vegemite123 · 17/02/2025 06:52

Big moment for me … my BMI is officially normal!! I have never never ever not been overweight or obese.

I’m not feeling as joyous as I thought I would. I can tell (from clothes and wobbliness) that I am bigger than my last significant weight loss attempt. But while that was about 2kgs heavier than now, I was going to the gym a lot, 13 years younger and hadn’t had two children. So I can forgive that.

Maybe it is because I’ve “cheated” with weight loss injections? But I know that’s not logical. I’m doing a lot of walking (averaging about 9.5k steps a day, mostly walking a dog through fields) and have tried hard with diet.

Maybe it’s because it’s been fast - 3 stone in 5 months is a lot.

Maybe it’s because it’s been the most miserable bloody winter and I just feel flat! I was googling vitamin supplements again and just ended up feeling confused and getting nothing.

SW 90kgs BMI 31.6
CW 70.4 BMI 24.9
GW ???

Losingthetimber · 17/02/2025 07:14

@Vegemite123 , congratulations that’s a huge achievement!

and it will not be you “cheated with injections “ it will be as you rightly identified due to not building muscle. Muscle weighs the same as fat, obvs, but is more dense, so takes up less room.

it’s really important on this journey to eat enough protein and exercise, resistance and strength training, or we lose too much muscle with the fat, and don’t lose just fat, which yes, just makes us bigger in effect.

For comparison, not to make you feel bad, but to help explain, ive exercised a lot, and eat a good amount of protein, and I’m smaller than I usually am at this weight and have lost minimal muscle. In the 46 pounds lost, about 7 was muscle. But what I have is stronger than before. Plus I had to lose muscle as it would have been too high for a healthy frame, ie I need space for a skeleton, water and fat,

as said, this isn’t to make you feel bad, as it is fixable, but you need to now focus on building muscle back up and this will make the difference to your size.

muscle is key, it helps us burn fat, and keep the weight off, plus for stability as we get older, ie being able to get up out a chair. Sadly walking doesn’t do it.

Bluenose1966 · 17/02/2025 10:40

Many congratulations @Vegemite123 Know what you mean re not being as “joyous” as you thought, not helped I think by the time of year. Re vitamins I take magnesium, vitamin D3 and B vitamins. The magnesium not only improved my sleep but also my husband’s when he started taking them. If nothing else I would at least take a multivitamin to start you off.

Agree with @Losingthetimber re importance of strength training etc. The weights programme I am doing is only twice a week yet I can see and feel an improvement in my body. Have to force myself to go but feel great when I have done it. My waist has been the last place to lose weight, but it is starting to come off thankfully.

@UtterlyQuackers Totally agree re having something to fall back on if you can’t keep the weight loss off. The Oushk maintenance plan is £15 per month so if I did feel like I could cope without MJ I would pay that as a safety net. You have to book a maintenance call with Oushk which costs £5 and evidence your MJ history. They look at everything on a case by case basis and I have found them really helpful and approachable. Though don’t think they have no availability for maintenance appointments until mid March. Think Cloud do it and it doesn’t cost but not sure if you would have to be with them before approaching maintenance.

Vegemite123 · 17/02/2025 11:05

@Bluenose1966 and @Losingthetimber Oh, I completely agree with you both about strength training. I know it’s the oldest excuse in the world, but it’s just finding time to do it! I have bands and stuff at work, so try to do some upper body stuff (when I remember) and am trying to improve some leg strength with lunges whilst brushing my teeth! I do FEEL stronger, at least, as I’m carrying around with me 20kgs less fat! I really want to get back into running, but it’s the weather that really deters me.

I switched to Oushk at the start of this year with maintenance in mind. I don’t like their new packaging, though - it has their branding all over it.

I’ve just added some multivitamins to my ocado shop. I’ve been procrastinating about it and should just try SOMETHING!

HansHolbein · 17/02/2025 11:27

@Vegemite123 Happy for you. After all those years to finally know that you are a healthy BMI must feel incredible.

The weather definitely is NOT helping anyone. It’s quite sunny here today, the snowdrops are out and the daffodils 🌼 are really trying to come out. Spring is going to feel wonderful for us all. We are NOT going to have another summer of feeling like shit. Hold on for that.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 17/02/2025 11:40

Hi all

No weigh for me today as we are moving and the scales have been packed, however I weighed on friday and I was 15'13" which is a 2 pound drop.

Ordered my 10mg pen from Medicine Marketplace, just waiting for it to be approved and will start from the week after next.

UtterlyQuackers · 17/02/2025 11:45

That's fantastic @Vegemite123 well done.

Thank you @Bluenose1966 and @Losingthetimber I have bite the bullet and booked an online consultation. What's £5 when I have been dropping ££ on the pens? 🤣

Have a great week everyone x

Fizzleawayyy1 · 17/02/2025 12:46

Just catching up as I haven't been on all weekend.

@Bluenose1966 - You look amazing!! lovely to see the pictures too on here!

@recklessgran well done with the 1.5lbs off this week!

@NearlyNewHip Sulphur burps are horrid!! hope they have subsided now!

@igivein My scales do Oz as well.... I just ignore them and never add them towards anything! ha

@HansHolbein sounds great all your PCOS symptoms have gone and 10mg is working so well for you!

@Vegemite123 well done on your BMI!!

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 I hope the move goes well! I hate moving!! all the packing and unpacking 😒

I weigh on sat, lost 2lbs this week which is ok.
Still on 7.5mg. Bad stomach has now disappeared thank god.
Keep thinking of food today but I think that's more to do with my cycle then the jab not working but I think I will Jab a day early this week.

coastergirl · 17/02/2025 18:36

I've been so lucky up until now with side effects, but I moved up to 12.5 on Saturday evening and I feel rubbish! Really nauseous and no energy. I can feel when my stomach is really empty but I just have no desire to eat at all. Dropping back to 10 next week.

EVK · 17/02/2025 19:55

Whoever recommended ‘Why we eat too much’ - what a great read/listen - I’m really enjoying it and it makes so much sense.
@coastergirl sorry you’re feeling rubbish - hope it eases quickly x
