Hi, for those of you who use a syringe for the 5th dose, what kind of syringes do you buy? Not sure that I'll do it, but in case I do!

rockingbird · 15/02/2025 16:59

@Bluenose1966 you look amazing!! Well done woman 🤩

I'm just back from the weekly supermarket shop, I bumped into someone I haven't seen since July/August last year. Her reaction 'wow you're tiny' and I kind of needed it as I just can't see it..! That said the skinny jeans I'm wearing today are a 12 and look terribly baggy - I've not worn them for over a year as they were too blooming tight and now too big. Weigh in / jab day tomorrow, have been working hard this week with dumbbells and the walking pad so hoping it pays off.

Tohaveandtohold · 15/02/2025 18:30

@Bluenose1966 , you look fantastic, well done.
@TwinklesToes , well done on being so close to your goal weight. Not long left eh.
@Fizzleawayyy1 , you look so good and well in your wedding dress. It must have felt good being able to fit into it again.
Sorry to everyone feeling rough. Hope you all feel better soon.
@EVK well done on finally breaking the plateau this week. We’re the same when it comes to medication and I always pray that I don’t get told I need to use a medication to survive even if it’s an over the counter medication so I certainly won’t impose this on myself. I have some sort of health anxiety around using MJ but I’ve always justified it to myself that being obese is worse. Now that’s I’m a healthy weight, there’s nothing I can use to mentally justify it to myself.

Also, this is the first time I’ve had to lose weight. I’ve always had a BMI of around 26 and 27 but I was happy with how I looked so didn’t try to lose weight. In 2023 when I was pregnant with DC3 it was like a switch, I stopped exercising and I remember telling DH that this is the time when it’s acceptable to be ‘fat’ so I’ll eat whatever I want and I just didn’t stop. I was always hungry when I was breastfeeding and ate mindlessly but I didn’t have an awareness that I’ve gone too far.
I know it’s still hard to go to the gym due to work and family life and that’s why I’ve set it all up in my garage now and this has helped. I’ve been exercising 5 days a week without fail since August and for the first time since I remember, my BMI is now in the healthy range and I’m not going to ruin that.
I’ve always known I’ll come off after 4 pens even before I started so I’ve sort of had 4 extra weeks because of the bonus dose I’ve been using.
I know it’ll always be a conscious effort to not gain the weight back and also I still have 3.3kg to lose to get to a BMI of 23.5 which is my ultimate goal, I know it’ll take longer but I’m glad I’m still working towards something, happy where I am now so not going to be disappointed if it takes months to lose that. I’m also doing lots of weighted exercises to tone up.

Anyway, I’ve just had my Final MJ jab an hour ago. I didn’t have to use an insulin syringe because I’ve been taking 5mg from a 7.5mg pen so there was still a lot left. I decided to jab 2.5mg today as that’s the last one so 20 clicks, to taper off.
I’ll be doing my final stats next week Saturday but this week, I’ve lost 1.8lbs.

SW: 87.1kg (192lbs)(13st 7)
CW: 65.6kg ( 144.6lbs)(10st 3) BMI now 24.9)
19 week total is 21.5kg

Scared but hopeful for the next phase.

lapuf · 15/02/2025 18:55

Well done tohave, amazing result! Stick around with us won't you?

KnewYearKnewMe · 15/02/2025 21:29

@BigTightropeWalker

I use these from Amazon. Easy peasy.

MJ is too expensive to let at least one £30 dose go in the bin.

Excellent thanks @KnewYearKnewMe!

Losingthetimber · 15/02/2025 22:32

Please buy from a medical supplier, the ones on Amazon are not human grade, hence why they don’t state it and call it measuring tools. They are at best for animals.

That’s great advice- thank you 👍 I think that’s why mine didn’t work and needless to say seemed bent !!

@Bluenose1966 yiu look fantastic 🙌🏻
@Tohaveandtohold brilliant losses and exercise regime is very impressive- you can do it and I won’t be far behind you. Stay with us, I’d love to know how you get on and your experiences coming off etc.
@rockingbird what a lovely supermarket surprise ! I’m sure you look fabulous.

24 Pieces, 1ml Precision... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D9DJFN71?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

These are what I have. I've used them to get the extra dose from every pen so far (4) and they've been great.

Tohaveandtohold · 16/02/2025 03:01

@BigTightropeWalker , I use this one. It looks similar to the one on Amazon but this is a medical supplier

i prefer comments, for me it’s acknowledging the elephant in the room, no pun intended, as I know they are thinking it, but I understand some don’t like it as it feels too personal.

i got a lot of positive comments last week, as said up thread, it was all you look great kind of thing, what was weird is I work with predominantly men, onky a few women, and only the men commented. Not one woman said a word. I’d have thought it would be the opposite way round. All the women are slim, I was the only fat woman. Even when I was shamed for not eating enough at lunch, the women said nothing.

the men’s comments were all “you’ve lost weight, a LOT of weight, you look great”, kind of thing, one said to me,” you’ve lost a lot of weight, and you’ve done something to your hair (I haven’t, I assume it’s my face is slimmer , which was throwing him ) you look really lovely” . He wasn’t cracking onto me, he’d be in the class of old friend, but I thought it was sweet.

but yes, none of the women commented and I had to speak to them all one on one. They also heard the men commenting, and ignored it totally, which I did find odd, as I get on as well with them as the men if not better.

it’s the same in my friendship group, my best friend comments, and she knows I’m on the injections, but none of the women comment, but the men do. Like they have no filter.

No one has ever said I was tiny though, as I’m not 😂

rockingbird · 16/02/2025 07:59

That's really interesting @Losingthetimber I can't help but wonder if the females were a little bit jealous of your new look! It's certainly given me a boost, I've hidden away for quite a while now under baggy clothes sort of in denial. The scales tell me this morning I'm 2lb down this week after having no shift the previous week so I'm delighted with that.

SW: 11.13
CW: 9.1
GW: 8.10 (ish)

So onto week 17 and sticking with 7.5mg. It’s been Ok ish.. definitely more suppression but no sickness thankfully. I’ve upped my exercise and I’m actively working on muscle building as I’m feeling a bit wobbly in places if that makes sense. I’ve dusted off the walking pad and wearing wrist and ankle weights whilst I pound the pad 😆 need to incorporate some abs and weighted lunges in the mix this coming week.

Losingthetimber · 16/02/2025 08:25

@rockingbird , congrats on the loss!

and no defo not jealous, as they are all slim, I was the only fat woman. I dunno, my friends are the same, apart from my closest friend, all know I am not unwell and actively trying to lose weight, they hear the comments from the men, so I do find it odd.

I think as when I know a female is trying to lose weight and does, I always tell her she looks fantastic, as I know them well enough to know the comment would be well accepted.

maybe I no longer fall into my category of the fat one. Don’t get me wrong, no comments doesn’t remotely bother me, and I don’t actually think about it, more it’s a musing on a Sunday morning..☺️

femininomenon · 16/02/2025 09:02

@Bluenose1966 you look fabulous well done!

recklessgran · 16/02/2025 09:11

Morning all. Today is my weigh and jab day and I'm pleased to report another loss of 1.5lbs.
SW 15st 7lbs
CW 14st 3.5lbs
I am actually delaying my jab until tomorrow and will be sticking to the 3.5mgs dose as I'm still losing and having minimal side effects on that. The reason for the delay is that we will be going to babysit our newborn DGD [well 8 weeks old now] today as it is DSIL's birthday and they are having a date night. We'll stay overnight as it's too far to drive home. Obviously I don't want to risk feeling under par especially as I know DD is anxious as this will be the first time that she has left DGD with anyone apart from DSIL .
I'm loving all the updates and hope my other slow losing friends are doing O.K.

lickycat · 16/02/2025 09:26

Re commenting on weight loss- I don’t think it’s considered appropriate these days. I expect lots of men didn’t get that memo, though 😂. There’s so many reasons people can lose weight and it not be a good reason, and it can also be considered a back handed compliment, like oh you look great now (because you looked awful before). Obviously it’s very different for close friends when you know they’re trying to lose weight, but I’d never randomly comment to a friend/colleague that I’d noticed they’d lost weight, and I’d definitely not make comparisons to their previous body shape.

NearlyNewHip · 16/02/2025 09:35

I have the sulphur burps this morning.....my god it's bloody grim. All self inflicted, I jab on a Friday night, supression was high yesterday so couldn't be bothered cooking and ate some hot dogs from a jar...the smell coming from me is truly incredible!!! Have taken 2 peppermint capsules and am drinking peppermint tea. It better be bloody gone for work tomorrow. It's so grim that the cat won't come near me and has hidden in the spare room!!!

Yes they are cheap as chips really, but the Amazon ones are not declared or designed for human use.

EVK · 16/02/2025 10:30

@Losingthetimber its a strange thing with many women but even when they’re thin they still feel jealous - it’s upsetting the status quo and their place in the order of things! You’d be surprised!! All women get insecure regardless of how beautiful they are!
@rockingbird we are hand in hand on our journey - I was 9.1 1/2 this morning and my goal weight is the same as yours. You’ve made swifter progress though, I think your exercise regime is paying dividends 🙌🏻
@recklessgran amazing progress for you 🙌🏻

igivein · 16/02/2025 10:44

Weigh in day 19 for me

SW 20st 2lbs
CW 16st 0lbs

So a one pound loss this week.
I had really hoped to be into the 15s this week and I sort of am - the scales said 15.13.06, but I always weigh to the nearest pound (mainly because I'm not sure if the 6 at the end means 0.6lb or 6oz -does anyone know?)
Definitely going to smash into the 15s next week 😁

I tried a few chemists and they don't stock them - they said diabetics all use pens now so they're not needed anymore, so you might be better just to order online.

Losingthetimber · 16/02/2025 11:42

@EVK , maybe jealousy, more maybe discomfort as I was no longer the fat one there,

I was just musing this morning I guess, they knew it was on purpose weight loss, not unwell as it was said in front of them, even one on one it wasn’t mentioned, and they are all lovely, so in hindsight a little surprising, my female friends the same.

it’s a funny world sometimes.

rockingbird · 16/02/2025 11:47

@recklessgran well done, delighted to hear the weight is shifting for you week by week.
@Losingthetimber ah the fat one is no longer the fat one - nothing like a bit of competition ☺️ your the one being noticed all of a sudden! People do view you differently for sure.
