I'm definitely the same as you.
Lost well (9.5kg) on first two pens (2.5 & 5)
Had a second 5 pen - stayed the same weight.
Went up to 7.5 stayed the same for first two weeks on that, 3rd week lost .5kg. Doing my final 7.5 tomorrow....have a 10 ready for next week.....
I'm now just (factionally) into overweight from obese, so a win at least...but i thought id hit that in early Dec based on how i started and how I felt, back then. I'm working really hard on monitoring what I eat. As I did on pens one and two and I'm now exercising more...
I feel the same as you.
But, I feel generally better overall and at least I've (hopefully) cemented some great habits for long term maintenance!!! I've definitely lost some cm's and toned up too. Clothes fit better. No one has noticed, or if they have they haven't commented...
🤞for the 10mg!!!

Yes, that sounds exactly like what’s happened with me. I never got huge losses, but I was steadily losing 1+lb a week. In fact, I lost 10lb in the first 8 weeks and have only lost 3lb since then 😭 at 15weeks.

Losingthetimber · 06/02/2025 15:29

Yes just move up in two weeks and fingers crossed. 10 for me has been constant suppression, no let up, I’ve done my 5th dose.

I know some folks go all the way to 15 though. 7,5 didn’t do a huge amount for me to be fair, it was like the other doses.

10 was a different animal totally.

Really hoping for this because I’m beginning to wonder if i’m just one of those people it doesn’t work for.

RunSlowTalkFast · 06/02/2025 20:46

I wonder if some people get the placebo effect at first from the motivation and excitement of a new diet and that gradually wears off before the real suppression kicks in?

Seen a lot of people saying 2.5mg seemed to work better for them than 5mg.

femininomenon · 06/02/2025 20:49

@lickycat I am another who after moving up to 10 last week finally feel like I have the same level of suppression that I did on 2.5, however as @RunSlowTalkFast it could well have been an early days placebo effect!

I think there is a psychological element to it, not quite placebo but close, and I also think fear of moving up, or cost increases has something to do with it too.

the trials were clear, and extensive. The bigger losses were at higher doses and 2.5 was really not producing any losses.

I also think that because some lose weight and achieve ther target weight incredibly quickly all of us hope (or expect) to as well.

I keep going back to the info that I read before I started. Some of which was about the weight losses on the trials and I remind myself that I lost nearly 10% on my first two pens,

Quotes taken from the article below:

Research suggests that Mounjaro supports average weight loss of around 25% after one year. If you weighed 100kg, this would be a weight loss of 25kg

Research suggests that higher doses of Mounjaro support more weight loss. One study compared the effects of Mounjaro 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg on weight loss.
The results showed that Mounjaro 5 mg led to an average weight loss of 7.6kg after 40 weeks, 10 mg 9.3 kg, and 15 mg 11.2kg.

And this quote from the article below

It’s important to remind yourself here of how far you have come—not just in terms of total weight lost but also in terms of healthy new habits.
On average, patients see about 11% body weight loss at four months, and closer to 20% weight loss at eight months.
But you still have some way to go. You need to take Mounjaro for up to a year in order to see its full effects—an average of 21% body weight loss. Along the way, there may be hiccups, whether that’s lapsing back into old ways, or even hitting the so-called weight loss plateau (when your body stops losing weight and may even start putting it back on).

How to break through the weight loss plateau

Reaching the point where you stop losing weight can be the hardest part of a weight loss plan. Here’s how to break through the weight loss plateau

Thats an interesting read@HappyNewt .
The data for up to week 72 and week 176 from Surmount trial is below, looks like very little difference between 10mg and 15mg.

The percentage change in body weight from baseline for tirzepatide vs. placebo
Week 72

  • 5 mg: −15%
  • 10 mg: −19.5%
  • 15 mg: −20.9%
  • Placebo: −3.1%

Week 176

  • 5 mg: −12.3%
  • 10 mg: −18.7%
  • 15 mg: −19.7%
  • Placebo: −1.3%

I have already lost just under 20% of body weight mostly on 2.5mg which I have gradually increased to 5mg so haven’t needed the increase in dose per month.

Though the trial data didn’t examine anyone who had stayed on 2.5mg or 5mg for more than their recommended monthly titrated increase so we don’t know what their results would be.
I personally have had too many side effects to increase as they suggest by 2.5mg per month. It has took me 4 months to even consider increasing to 6mg for my next WLI.

HappyNewt · 07/02/2025 12:48

@Bluenose1966 well done on your loss.

I find it so interesting, everyone's experience is so personal to them. So many variables, so much data from so many people who are buying privately and effectively self prescribing...stay on the same dose/move up...enjoy success on a low dose/plateau on a higher one....achieve target weight quickly/slowly more inline with the trials....

So much to learn as more people have experiences of these meds for weight loss....kind of a shame that it is not being tracked better by the medical/pharma industry.

lickycat · 07/02/2025 13:46

I’m am desperately trying to trust the process and not be disheartened by slow losses. Because they are losses for the first time in years of gaining. I’m going to continue up the doses and see what happens.

This morning I’ve hit the stone mark! I’ve officially lost a stone and it feels like a big milestone.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 07/02/2025 14:08

@Bluenose1966 well done on basically 20%! woooo!
I just looked at mine and iv lost 19.57% and iv just gone up to 7.5mg 2 weeks ago.

@RunSlowTalkFast - yeh I think a lot of loses in the first month is the 'new me, new diet, we got this' rather then suppression. It gets harder the longer you do it.

Well done! ☺️

I've just gone up to 10mg no side effects... Yet!

Did the bonus dose and got around 9mg-ish. I was definitely wanting to eat more by the end of the week.

I am eating 3 meals a day and plenty of protein.

I am already at risk of osteoporosis and have seen a few things in the media about ozempic causing osteoporosis through poor diet. Not really seen anything linking Monjouro, I am not going to Google and scare myself! Just keep reminding myself to be sensible with my diet!

Have a great weekend x

Losingthetimber · 07/02/2025 16:24

@lickycat , well done, that’s a milestone! And the way I look at it, is if you’d not done this, would you have kept gaining, so you’ve not just lost a stone, you’ve also prevented any further gain…and that’s a huge result. 💫

rockingbird · 07/02/2025 17:35

I've just eaten chocolate for the first time since starting this medication.. a handful of chocolate buttons (the giant ones)🙈 well.. that was silly! Made me feel sick instantly! How strange. I'm not a big chocolate fan but I guess Easter is cancelled this year!!

terracottacountryfarms · 07/02/2025 19:42

Hitting a serous plateau at the moment. Haven't lost in 3 weeks but considering I've lost 2 stone already I know I can't give up hope. Got one stone left to lose. Hope everyone's week went well and have a lovely weekend x

I’ve been the same -
I’ve only done my first 5mgs this week which is week 18 or maybe 19 for me. I’ve lost about 20% of my weight too. So, it’s important to reflect on the data and what conditions it was collected under. Thanks form your post. We are proof that you can lose weight while taking smaller doses so if it works for you then why go up?

Absolutely. I’ve also lost 22.1% of my starting weight and it’s 18 weeks now and I’m still on 5mg.
So I did 5 weeks on 2.5mg and that’s when I had the most suppression and loss. 1 week on 3.75mg and the remaining 12 weeks on 5mg. To be honest, I’ve not really had suppression in the last 3 weeks of 5mg and I’ve had food noise and the losses are obviously very low in comparison but I don’t have much to lose anymore and I’m fine with not having that much suppression as I’ll be stopping in 2 weeks so it won’t be a shock to my system. The lower dose has worked well for me and it’s gotten me to where I want to be in a short space of time so it’s all a win.

NewYorkExile · 07/02/2025 22:02

If anyone is still on this thread, I’ve just started Mounjaro - second week. I seem to be nauseated all the time. If I don’t eat (and mostly, for the first time in my life, I don’t want to) I feel sick, then after I eat I feel sick again. I am pushing my way through it. I’m in my 70’s and need to lose 5 stone!

I love chocolate and I still have a little bit every few days.
However, I dont really drink booze... never at home and only very occasionally at work events.

Losingthetimber · 07/02/2025 22:32

Goodness, I’ve just worked out I’ve lost 21 percent of my body weight in 18 weeks.

I’ve literally had one Lindt in 18 weeks, I just don’t fancy it, and I used to eat a lot of chocolate, and now only drink if socialising, and even then limited, a signficant change in habits really, 😳

Hi @NewYorkExile I felt quite nauseous the first few weeks, it is such a strange feeling not wanting to eat chocolate every night for me. There are support groups on Mumsnet for each month of starting Mounjaro so you may want to read about the experiences of people starting same time as you. Good luck, hopefully you will start to feel less sick soon as your body gets used to the medication.

@lickycat Just wanted to congratulate you. It's an incredible feeling to achieve a "marker" in any weight loss. I'm chuffed to bits for you!

NoisyMintCrab · 08/02/2025 06:06

I started in October and have been following along with this thread but have never posted. Help October friends!

2.5 was fine
2z5 pens no side effects but no suppression
Started 7.5 pen and very ill.

Lost 10kg in first 6 weeks, stayed same since then. Started back on poor eating habits after 6 weeks because my food noise was back and can't seem to stop myself eating rubbish again. But I've taken 2x7.5, each with 11 days in-between to let the diarrhea and burps stop, but I can't bring the willpower to stop eating the food that's making me sick.

I'm stuck!

I need to get back on the jab and I need to stop eating rubbish! Does anyone have any words of wisdom (I am aware it is entirely my own fault)?
