Background info:
BMI around 50
I know what I should be eating (not a knowledge issue but a willpower issue)
Walk a lot but should lift weights
Want to stay on MJ for blood sugar and inflammation

Caffeineneedednow · 08/02/2025 06:38

SW 17st 2 lbs
CW 14 st 10 lbs
First goal weigh 14 st 10 lbs

I have hit my first goal weight. This is now the slimmest I have been since I started weighing myself in my teens.

I need to set another goal weight. I think I will go for 12 st 10 lbs as that would give me a BMI in the normal range. I still can't believe this is something that has suddenly become achievable after decades of battling my weight.

EVK · 08/02/2025 08:01

@Tohaveandtohold that’s so much like me, I stayed on 2.5 from October until after Christmas then slowly I’ve gone up. Only just been brave enough to have a full 5mgs. I had really good suppression and my quickest losses on 2.5mg. I still have good suppression but my losses are really slow, I lose a 1lb and then stall for a week and then maybe lose another. However I am close to my goal, maybe around 5-7lbs to go and I think it slows up - we just have to keep going. Like you, when I do feel really hungry and have food noise I feel it’s fine as that’s going to be what I need to learn to manage. I think now I’m feeling so much better about myself and have built much healthier relationships with food hopefully I’ll be ok. @Fizzleawayyy1 i also love my dark chocolate (especially with sea salt!) and I have a few squares most evenings (usually about 2-4) sometimes 1 is enough - it’s just something delicious and sweet on the palette is so satisfying 🤣 I think it’s important to still enjoy small amounts of what you love. @Losingthetimber im
the same with alcohol - I hardly touch it! Haven’t had a drink since NYE and don’t miss it except for very occasionally and that’s usually when I’m feeling really stressed - then I tell myself it won’t really help and the urge is gone! I’m going out with friends today to celebrate one of their birthdays- they will be drinking and I’m not going to be keeping up! May have one or two to be social! @NoisyMintCrab i haven’t experienced the need to keep eating rubbish- the only thing I can think of is that you stop buying it, get yourself some nutritious alternatives but don’t starve yourself. Maybe try a slightly lower dose if you’re feeling really ill? Think about the money you’re spending ?!Or maybe look at alternative medication - I guess MJ is not for everyone? I wish I had something more useful. Good luck.
Happy weekend everyone and well done on all the amazing wins this week 🙌🏻 to those of you who are losing slowly like me - we will get there - slow and steady 🩷

Losingthetimber · 08/02/2025 08:02

Good morning everyone, and happy sat!

18th week done, 19th jab just taken, stayed on 10 mg as suppression is good and constant, and hope to stay there to goal. but used the pen to inject this week, just in case the insulin needle did have an impact last week, doubtful I know. The insulin needle really is easier than the pen. Sigh.

so 3.1lbs lost this week, I ate the same all week, I’m consistent, but did have thay 24 hours of feeling ropey on wed where the drug felt stronger in my system and I felt shit. Am away with work this wed and wanted to not feely ropey just in case as that’s the peak, so will see if it makes a difference or was just one of those things, away on an off now for the next 3 weeks so will keep using the pen to inject for that period and not an insulin needle.

so

starting weight, 14.12.5 bmi 32.7
todays weight 11.10.4 bmi 25.7
goal weight 10.7. BMI 23.
total loss 44lbs/3 stone 2/20kg

i keep looking at that 32.7 and thinking as I was 15.7 a few weeks before I started I’d a bmi of 34 at that point, and with my high blood pressure 1 more bmi point and I’d have been eligible for bariatric surgery.😔

it feels like quite a big difference in a short period of time really.

MissSmith80 · 08/02/2025 08:14

Morning all. Life has been busy so I've not checked in for a while but I weighed this morning and I've hit 3 goals - all linked though.

  1. Lost 20% of my starting weight.
  2. Hit a healthy BMI (only just, it is 24.9 on the nail) but it's been a long while since I was in the 'normal' range.
  3. Got to my initial goal

I've got 2 more pens (less one dose) so think I'll use those to try and get a couple more kgs off to put me more comfortably into the healthy range.

I'm with cloud now so will drop them a message and ask if they'll then support me dropping down a dose, extending my dosing to every 10 days or doing week on/week off.

I can't believe that I have achieved my initial goal in almost exactly 4 months.

I'll catch up on the posts later- hope everyone is doing well xx

EVK · 08/02/2025 08:17

@Losingthetimber thats a fantastic loss this week - congratulations 🙌🏻I’ve stalled for the second week in a row - I’m being consistent with my eating too so keep telling myself to just keep going and not get disheartened- maybe I’ll drop over the weekend?! That’s sometimes happens.

I started in October and have been following along with this thread but have never posted. Help October friends!

2.5 was fine
2z5 pens no side effects but no suppression
Started 7.5 pen and very ill.

Lost 10kg in first 6 weeks, stayed same since then. Started back on poor eating habits after 6 weeks because my food noise was back and can't seem to stop myself eating rubbish again. But I've taken 2x7.5, each with 11 days in-between to let the diarrhea and burps stop, but I can't bring the willpower to stop eating the food that's making me sick.

I'm stuck!

I need to get back on the jab and I need to stop eating rubbish! Does anyone have any words of wisdom (I am aware it is entirely my own fault)?

First of all don’t give up. Slow and steady remember.

You need to banish these bad foods though, what exactly are you eating? Are you drinking enough water? By that I mean a lot of water, absolutely nothing sugary, fizzy or alcohol.

You should try to refocus your attention to your diet, vegetables, lots of protein, fruits and salads. Everything you know you have to do basically. These medications can only work effectively when you’re in tandem with them.

Losingthetimber · 08/02/2025 08:47

@evk, maybe as your close to goal and tdee has dropped? You’ve done fantastically remmeber_ You will get there, it is frustrating though if no movement, as you think I’m not doing this just to maintain!

@NoisyMintCrab , that sounds difficult, you need to force yourself not to eat the foods that make you unwell. Have some good clean stuff to hand and force yourself to eat them. I think I’d try to get back to the right dosing schedule. So maybe drop down to 5 or 6 and make sure to do every seven days, build up slow. And ensure you don’t eat anything when you get to 7.5 thay could make it bad for you.

Losingthetimber · 08/02/2025 08:50

Also @NoisyMintCrab , as so much is out your system by day 11. It could be a bit of a shock to your system.

so remember at least 2 litres of water a day, we pee out fat.
if you’ve sulphur burps, then reduce high sulphur foods, eggs, fizzy drinks, garlic, onions, beans etc.
avoid fatty food, overly sugary, too many carbs, potentially spices
reduce or stop any alcohol

and see if you can reset, on a lower dose, every seven days,

Fizzleawayyy1 · 08/02/2025 09:32

-2lbs off this week.
47lbs off in 17 weeks.
Suppression is good on 7.5mg.
7 weigh ins left until I go to the bahamas ... making a goal of another 12lbs in 7 weeks.

TwinklesToes · 08/02/2025 10:13

Weigh day, week 18, lost 1lb and got my 3 stone. This is the lightest I’ve been in over 35 years.
SW: 13.12
CW: 10:12
GW: 10:7 ish
I am on 7.5 and no side effects.
Well done everyone on your weight loss, to those feeling despondent keep heart we are all rooting for you.

Losingthetimber · 08/02/2025 10:22

Nsv here, years ago, about 5 or t, I bought a pair of ankle grazing cigarette pants from Reiss. They are a size 12, but very small made, I recall at the time they were tight, and I thought I could lose a few and get them to fit properly. Which I did, felt tiny , wore them about twice, got fat, never worn since.

I kept them as I like them, and still fab with a pair of flat pumps and a slim fitting top, and I tried them on and they fit. Like proper fit. No muffin top level of fit. No struggling to get the zip up level of fit. 😂 I honestly thought there was no way, spotted them in the wardrobe, dragged them out and thought hmm.,maybe.

It’s made me realise though, not weighing for years, and going by my clothes was a mistake, as I was clearly heavier than I thought I was when I bought them..🙄

NearlyNewHip · 08/02/2025 11:12

I've weighed and hit another mini target. Lost 1 pound and I'm now under 90 kgs (hit onederland last week weighing 199 lbs). So pleased with myself!!! Ordered myself a posh lipstick as a treat x x x

@lickycat Just wanted to congratulate you. It's an incredible feeling to achieve a "marker" in any weight loss. I'm chuffed to bits for you!

Thank you so much 😊

Everyone is unique and will have their own path, but from my own experience, I feel like you’ve got to stick to recommendations. Going 11 days between doses is not ideal and that would seem like the obvious reason you’re getting no suppression? Having said that, you can’t continue to dose if it’s making you really poorly, so perhaps look at what lots of women on here have done and go back to a smaller dose and titrate up slowly?

I know what it’s like to have ridiculous food noise; know loads about nutrition but then feel utterly powerless to stop self-sabotage. Although I do have food noise on MJ, it’s nothing like without MJ and I mostly have control!

lickycat · 08/02/2025 11:44

Week 16 done for me.

sw 14.13 (I think - that’s what’s on my app, anyway)
cw 13.13
total loss 14lb

Had 4 jabs of 2.5, 9 jabs of 5, this morning had my 3rd jab of 7.5mg. Delighted to finally get to a stone loss (which I hit a couple of days ago). I don’t really mind being in this for the long haul, but it is nice to finally feel like I’m hitting targets.

Oh, and I’m another one who has completely lost all urge to drink alcohol.

NoisyMintCrab · 08/02/2025 13:27

Thankyou all for your advice. I don't feel so alone with this problem now!

Luckily I only drink water, 5 pints a day, so that is not too bad.

Going to try to get back on track with doses (I was quite happy side effects wise at 5mg every 7 days, it just wasn't suppressing!).

Potentially as you stayed on for two months rather than just moving up, then started delaying, which they think is okay rarely if you miss a dose but not as a regular occurrence, so your body gets used to it, it stops working as you’re on too low a dose, then your body reacts badly when moving up, then delaying significantly and it reacts again.

Reading all the posts across the sub forum for the last few months, I’d say the people who habe the most issues tend not to follow the guidelines, staying on low doses too long so they struggle moving up, messing with doses, not eating clean, but eating high sulphur foods then get upset as they have sulphur burps, not eating enough and feeling sick , or eating too much fat/spice/sugar/carbs/fizzy drinks etc.

of course if it’s working and good suppression all week, no need to move up. And some folks just can’t tolerate which causes the gastron issues, others are ok delaying and then moving up, our tolerance is all very individual, but no doubt the deviations seem to be problematic for many.

I’ve also seen a lot of posts where weirdly folks think they randomly tested certain doses, didnt test anything else, there was no scientific evidence behind those doses , that it just stops working, it’s all a little odd. But that’s social media for you.

just titrate down, try to reset, eat clean and fingers crossed you start feeling good soon , feel suppression, and losing again. I’m sure you will. 🤞

NoisyMintCrab · 08/02/2025 17:47

I'd read SO much on these forums about people saying you should stay low, especially if you have a lot to lose, that i bought a second 5mg pen. So, so many people saying you shouldn't rush up the doses. It freaked me out and I feel as though i don't know what i 'should' be doing any more! Just made a bit of a mess of it!

Yes, social media has a lot to answer for sadly.

just do a month on 5, inject every seven days, eat clean, and hopefully you reset and can continue successfully with your journey.💐

KnewYearKnewMe · 08/02/2025 18:49

@igivein

Totally get that - I feel this has become my new normal. I don't feel deprived or on a diet at all. I enjoy what I eat, and the lack of food noise is still a revelation..

I'm going up to 5mg for the first time tonight 🤞🤞

I've been on 3.75mg for about 3 weeks or so. January has been very slow, loss-wise for me - around 2.5kg loss.

So I think it's time to take the 5mg plunge.

Hoping I don't regret it as have very luckily had no side effects other than tiredness so far.

Age 56 - height 5'4"

SW: 231 lbs
CW: 193 lbs
GW: probably around 180lbs

lapuf · 08/02/2025 19:48

Yes are such early adopters, we're finding our way with peer support but it's all so personal to find what works that people become over cautious I think! I have only ordered 1x2.5 and 5x5 but still have three of the latter left Blush I should probably have moved up to 7.5 but 5 is still working for me, whether it will in 2/3 months is another matter.
I guess because I didn't have loads to lose I didn't want to risk not being allowed to buy another pen. I've still got 5-12lbs to lose.

Bluenose1966 · 08/02/2025 20:02

Hope you start to feel better soon @NoisyMintCrab

It’s a learning curve for us all.
The research data shows that there are people who have had to stop the treatment while on the trial so there really isn’t a prescribed dose that is suitable for everyone. I have had successful weight loss at low doses and have had to go up very gradually in 1.25mg increments monthly when I felt suppression had stopped despite eating clean, high protein and plenty of water etc, due to diarrhoea/ nausea.
I would try and keep a food diary to see if you can identify any issues. Protein is really filling, I eat a 120g a day which helps to stop my evening chocolate /crisp cravings.
I would take a dose you can tolerate every 7 days and build up as required from there. Good luck.

The most common adverse events with tirzepatide were gastrointestinal, and most were mild to moderate in severity, occurring primarily during dose escalation. Adverse events caused treatment discontinuation in 4.3%, 7.1%, 6.2%, and 2.6% of participants receiving 5-mg, 10-mg, and 15-mg tirzepatide doses and placebo, respectively.

Tohaveandtohold · 09/02/2025 03:32

It was weight day on Saturday and I’ve lost 1.6lb. This has actually broken my stall/low weight loss in the last weeks so I’m happy. I did try and ate less because I calculated my TDEE again and it’s now lower as I’m a lot smaller now. Also did more cardio exercises this week. I bought a bargain exercise bike on FB marketplace to add to my collection as DH reckons I’ll find it useful on busy days when I’m at maintenance also can just do a quick workout during my lunch break etc on days I’m wfh. Used jab 19 (5mg ) and one more jab to go.
As I’ve had little to no suppression in the past weeks on 5mg and I could eat anything but choosing not to as I know I shouldn’t, it’s just cemented me going forwards with maintenance without the jab as it’s made me realise that jab or not, I still have to make sure I continue all these good habits around food and exercises. I’m glad MJ has helped me with the very hard part of losing the weight and I’ve learnt a lot as well but for me, these lifestyle changes will be the key long term.
Stats:
SW: 87.1kg (192lbs)(13st 7)
CW: 66.5kg (146.6lbs)(10st 6) (BMI now 25.3)
18 week total is 20.6kg (45.4)

Well done to everyone still here and working our way through it all.

KnewYearKnewMe · 09/02/2025 07:58

Excellent to read, @Tohaveandtohold

Huge well done.

Do you have a view of maintenance with MJ, yet? Will you stay on a low lose, or plan to stop altogether?
