By the way, does anyone wear dresses? I have a couple of fine knit ones, which I love , but they sort of skim my body, so you can see the outline of the top of my knickers at the front if that makes sense,

never worn a slip in my life and ordered this from markies. What a game changer, as it is slinky the dresses sort of glide over it, everything looks smooth and flat, and you can’t see my undies outline. Doesn’t ride up if it’s the right size and v comfortable.

I got it to smooth not slim, and in a size up. It’s a little miracle.

now ordered a minimiser bra (triumph) as I reckon the old adage about good underpinnings is right,😂

Has any one noticed side effects when injecting with an insulin needle, I’ve not had any since I started on 5mg, three months ago, and this week I injected with an 8mm insulin needle and since last night feel really nauseas, first time in 5 weeks on 10.

A quick google shows injecting a subcutaneous injection deeper can impact the absorption of the medication, so I’m wondering if that has something to do with it. Am now back to I’m going to use the pen on sat.

lapuf · 05/02/2025 20:25

Hmm @Losingthetimber I did a 5mg insulin needle this week (bonus dose) and my food noise has been loud but I can't eat much when I do start! Odd combination. I only have 5mg pens left (x3) so can't move up unless I buy another one or take extra from mine. Won't hurt for me to get used to a bit of extra hunger I guess!

Losingthetimber · 05/02/2025 21:20

@lapuf hmm indeed. Maybe it makes no difference, I was thinking it was the only different thing i did but could be unrelated. It lasted 24 hours, felt fairly shit, but feel ok now. It’s a weird one, maybe I’m just used to never having side effects at all.😳

EVK · 06/02/2025 06:13

@HansHolbein well, the two tabs open! Why have I never thought to do that 🤣
@Losingthetimber I’ve been looking at insulin syringes but wasn’t sure what to get - can you advise please. On the side effects front I think they come and go and. can’t always be predicted. This week I had a day (approx. 72hrs after injecting - which seems to be when medication is at its zenith for me) when I felt awful, not nausea but completely drained of all energy and drive. I never go back to bed in the day but that’s what I did for half an hour or so. All day felt exhausted. I had been eating so it wasn’t due to lack of calories. Next day I felt ok again.
On the new rules issue I am glad I’m now with Oushk for maintenance as I’m in healthy BMI now - I hope it won’t effect the last 6-7 lbs I’m trying to lose before stopping. Like everyone else I have no problem with my doctor knowing - In fact it makes me feel safer. Not that they’ve been in touch with me at all. I do hope it doesn’t drive the procurement of these medications under ground!
Slips for dresses - yes! And M&S are great @Losingthetimber - I’ll check out the latest as could do with a new one!

Losingthetimber · 06/02/2025 06:42

@EVK a healthy BMI is such an achievement. I hope you feel fantastic.

go for 8mm needle and 1ml, loads of online suppliers. You can get from small boxes of 10 up to 100.

and yes on the side effects, I injected sat am, and on Tues evening I started to feel very dizzy and nauseas, had eaten as usual, and the same most of yesterday, but by last night I felt fine again, and slept like a log last night,

sorry you felt unwell too, it’s fairly crappy when it happens.

Weigh in 18 today and lost another 3lb.
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 18st 7lb (BMI 38.2)
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)

Total loss 3st 2lb, aiming for a total of 4st so 12lb more by my birthday which is 6 weeks time. I'm hoping that will kick me down to size 20 clothes. I'm a pear shape and whilst I know I am losing weight from them my legs and bum still seem huge particularly when compared to the bra that didn't fit me in October, which is now on its tightest setting.

I need to figure out some kind of exercise plan to build up muscle now I feel like I've lost enough weight not to injure myself! I can't decide if I should try and brave a gym, whether I should focus on getting my steps to a consistent 10k a day or do some home workouts.

rockingbird · 06/02/2025 12:52

That's an amazing result @WafflingDreamer huge well done! Start small with exercise, get yourself some 3-5k dumbbells and a mat. Juice and Toya on you tube are very good, some great beginner workouts!

Pen 5 (7.5mg) is now dispatched. Not taking the bonus dose in the remain 5mg pen as I have felt suppression far less over recent weeks. Haven't gained weight - also been mindful of food choices but seem stuck with the weight loss. Anyone else found this?!

Bonus dose is usually bigger volume than a full dose so could be a good option for bridging step inbetween the 5 and 7.5mg

I used 2 pens at 5mg and found at the end suppression was much less and I had a couple of weeks that was a STS, now this was over the xmas period and my birthday so I think it was a combination of both things but still I wasn't happy with a STS. I went up to 7.5mg a couple of weeks ago (took 3rd dose yesterday from a 10mg pen) and Iv lost since and suppression/food noise has decreased.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 06/02/2025 14:13

@WafflingDreamer well done! I havent started working out either yet.

Maybe try walking more and some home work ours before braving the gym?

I get gym membership paid by my work but never use it😅

lickycat · 06/02/2025 14:15

does anyone else feel like supression/food noise cancelling isn’t as good anymore? I mean, for my first 2.5 pen it was incredible how my head went quiet. But I’ve not felt the same since then. Currently on 2nd 7.5, and neither the 5 nor 7.5 has touched how I felt on the 2.5. I’ve definitely got food noise. Not as much as I used to have, but I’m craving things when I’m not hungry, I’ve got an appetite, I’m feeling hungry quicker. I’m wondering if I’ll ever get the peace again that I experienced when I started, or if this is normal when our bodies get more used to it.

I have constant suppression on 10, I think you’re supposed to move up till you find your optimal dose , so maybe you just need to move up and the second 7,5 when it wasn’t working wasn’t optimal for you personally.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 06/02/2025 14:29

@lickycat - I think suppresion started for me straight away like you mentioned but I dont think i feel any different on 7.5mg then i did on 2,5mg.
Its the same level of suppression, just at a higher dose to give the same effect I guess as your body gets used too it.

I do find suppression goes down around the time of my cycle but I dont think its the fault of MJ, more the hormone spike as its happened every month since i started MJ regardless of dose. I'm just more mindful that week.

I definitely need to do home workouts before joining the gym as I'm really unfit and really uncoordinated. I've never done any exercise apart from walking so I honestly have no idea what kind of fitness thing I'd like to do. Which is why I think a gym membership might be good as our local one has lots of classes

Sorry, I wasn’t clear at all - I’m on the 2nd dose of my 7.5 pen. I feel like I made a mistake having 2 x 5mg pens, so I’m not making that mistake twice!

I’m just not feeling the original suppression anymore, even when I step up the dose. Maybe 10mg is my dose 🤞

Yes I feel the same. When I first started this journey I thought I’d never need to get to 10mg, like you I’m on my second dose of 7.5 (after 2 months of 3.75/5) and think I definitely need 10.

I'm definitely the same as you.
Lost well (9.5kg) on first two pens (2.5 & 5)
Had a second 5 pen - stayed the same weight.
Went up to 7.5 stayed the same for first two weeks on that, 3rd week lost .5kg. Doing my final 7.5 tomorrow....have a 10 ready for next week.....
I'm now just (factionally) into overweight from obese, so a win at least...but i thought id hit that in early Dec based on how i started and how I felt, back then. I'm working really hard on monitoring what I eat. As I did on pens one and two and I'm now exercising more...
I feel the same as you.
But, I feel generally better overall and at least I've (hopefully) cemented some great habits for long term maintenance!!! I've definitely lost some cm's and toned up too. Clothes fit better. No one has noticed, or if they have they haven't commented...
🤞for the 10mg!!!

Same here, I thought I'd be fine on 5mg and be finishing up by March all being well.
10 for me next week 🤞
I'm happy with steady loss, it's just feeling like I'm in a long plateau which is frustrating.
I lost well at the start without any dramatic losses so was happy with that.
Thankfully, no bad side effects though, so I'm just following the guidelines for now...

Yes just move up in two weeks and fingers crossed. 10 for me has been constant suppression, no let up, I’ve done my 5th dose.

I know some folks go all the way to 15 though. 7,5 didn’t do a huge amount for me to be fair, it was like the other doses.

10 was a different animal totally.

I also thought that and recall saying to my husband I wouldn’t go above 5..I quickly realised that wasn’t going to work for me.

I remember you saying that to me a couple of weeks ago, 10 is ready for next week...
I realise that mentally and physically it is possible to have become used to how it makes you feel...
I'm glad I had a good start, and haven't had bad side effects. If it was making me ill or hadn't worked at all then I'd be starting to rethink things by now. But even whilst I haven't been losing, I haven't put on...and I'm really working hard and consistently on building good habits that I can maintain..so there are still benefits...

EVK · 06/02/2025 19:12

@Losingthetimber it really does feel
hreat to be (albeit just) into healthy BMI - I feel like myself again and I’m no longer berating myself and feeling depressed about about my weight gain. It’s liberating and it never want to go back to where I was again! @WafflingDreamer great news for you - so glad you’ve reached that milestone 🙌🏻walking and some resistance exercises at home with 3-5kg weight would be a great start as would using resistance bands. I need to take my own advice !!!

I’m now finding losing the last 6-7lbs challenging - slow. I’ve lost at a steady 1lb most weeks but like others I’ve had some weeks where I’ve STS. This week I’d actually put a 1lb on but after managing a ‘movement’ I went back down again (that’s why I weigh everyday!) I definitely need to up my weight training as my legs and bum need it! Thanks for the syringe link - I’ve bought some 👍 I missed my last bonus dose due to the pen not playing game as they’ve done before and don’t want that to happen again!

PolaDeVeboise · 06/02/2025 20:18

Started my first 7.5mg pen, and I know know what you mean by'sulphur burps' - they're hideous. Do they die down quickly?

Losingthetimber · 06/02/2025 20:23

Started my first 7.5mg pen, and I know know what you mean by'sulphur burps' - they're hideous. Do they die down quickly?

try to minimise high sulphur foods, beans, eggs, fizzy drinks, onion, garlic, milk etc, that should help.

it’s basically as your system has slowed, so any high sulphur foods in there will release it unfortunately.
