@ILoveLeopard245have missed a dose a couple of times before, once when I had a stomach bug and just forgot, and also over Christmas. It was totally fine, I still had some suppression for the second week, just not the intense suppression that I tend to get the few days after my jab.

20bloodypounds · 02/07/2025 23:11

@ILoveLeopard245 how long is your holiday and how does it fit with your usual injection time?

And importantly, what does a good holiday look like for you?

Last year I had a 2 week holiday. I couldn't be bothered with taking everything with me and worring about keeping the pen cool. I injected the day before we went. I accepted that the 1st week I wasn't interested in too much pizza or pudding (although I did enjoy the aperol spritz!) and then the second week I had a few more ice creams, but still felt OK to say no to extra cake.

ILoveLeopard245 · 03/07/2025 06:27

I’m away for a week, leaving thurs. my jab day is sat. I could take it early, but I feel a bit worried about needing to be close to the toilet and being on a flight. I think I’m going to skip. It’ll be a good experiment as I’m thinking about moving to maintenance soon.

20bloodypounds · 03/07/2025 09:49

Or you could take a half dose before you go?

sylv165 · 03/07/2025 09:51

I'm not sure if it is an official approach to maintenance, but I have been thinking about trying to jab every other week to start with. I quite liked the second week where I did feel hunger and could eat reasonably freely, but still had enough of a safety net to stop me going overboard. I think it might be a good way to ease me back in gradually.

EBoo80 · 03/07/2025 11:15

@sylv165 they won’t suggest that because of the 30 day pen thing (they would say bin the pen after two doses,
presumably), but I liked the 9 day frequency thing which is an official maintenance dose that Oushk recommended to me. I found dropping to 2.5 pointless but did a couple of pens of 5 on a 9 day injection schedule.

SybillaB · 08/07/2025 11:48

Just a quick check in to say I’m now 13st 7lb. I’m so pleased, my weight loss is very slow but continues downwards. 3.25 lbs to go for my 3 stone loss. Even I can see the difference and I’ve almost emptied my wardrobe as all my clothes are too big.
Thanks to all my fellow September starters for the support and success stories.

20bloodypounds · 08/07/2025 21:34

I had a big wardrobe clearout - a combination of weight loss and retirement, so I no longer need the 'work outfits'. I know I still have too many clothes, in too many sizes, some of that for another day...

After a long stall over the early months of this year I've being losing more consistantly over the past couple of months.

sylv165 · 10/07/2025 18:15

Checking in from holiday. I was 2lbs down when I weighed before we left on Monday, but I am pretty sure I will have cancelled that out and more by the time I come home! I’m finding it pretty easy to eat well, lots of fruit for breakfast, grilled chicken or fish with salad for lunch and dinner. But it is less easy to resist the all inclusive drinks…there has been way too much beer!! But worth it as we are having a lovely time. And I didn’t take my jab before we went so I definitely have more capacity to eat, but equally it is nice to not feel the constant low level nausea I have been getting on 7.5mg. So no regrets!

SpottyBumPony · 11/07/2025 20:07

Shout it from the rooftops!! I'M OVERWEIGHT!

A few pounds shy from 6 stone loss

20bloodypounds · 11/07/2025 21:11

@SpottyBumPony how fantastic! MJ has been a life-changer for so many people. With an amost 6 stone loss you will have done woders for your health. Well done for sticking with it.

Are you still losing at a reasonable rate? If so you must be optimistic for future milestones.

SpottyBumPony · 11/07/2025 21:23

I've just started to lose again. For a couple of months I was inconsistent with my doses so maintain of yoyo-ed the same few pounds. I've got the brain space to think and understand my food choices again at the moment so am losing.

It was probably a good time to pause in the long term as my skin had a chance to recover a bit.

20bloodypounds · 11/07/2025 21:37

I didn't have as much to lose, but I lost consistantly for the first 4 months. Then pretty much stalled for the next 4 months, maybe 0.5 / 1 pound off per month! But I've been losing again steadily since April. Now I'm on maintenance. In the early months of this year I was quite despondent, but I'm glad I kept going.

Orangesandlemons77 · 11/07/2025 21:50

I've not posted on here in ages, because for quite a while I just seemed to have stalled after the initial weight loss, but I have still been following along and enjoying seeing everyone's progress and stories.

I started in September last year at 102kg (16 stone) which is the most I have ever been, I'm quite short as well (5ft 2) so my BMI was over 40.

I'm now 74kg (11.5 stone) and approx BMI 29 so just out of the obese bracket, which I am quite pleased with even though it has been a long haul.

I have been up to 15mg but in the last month or so it seemed to be giving me some side effects (mainly nausea and not feeling like eating anything at all, possibly combined with the heat which makes me feel like that as well) so I'be gone back to 10mg and going to try staying there for a while now.

Hoping to get to around 60kg (approx 9.5 stone) I used to be this weight in my twenties before having children, I remember being between 8 stone 12 ish and 9.5 stone which seemed fine at the time.

But it's seems much more doable now. All the best to everyone going forward and well done for sticking at it Flowers

sylv165 · 16/07/2025 19:15

Well I got back from holiday yesterday. In my last post I said I had no regrets about not jabbing and allowing myself a bit more freedom to have a few drinks while I was away. Now I have weighed myself I maybe do have a regret or two….7lbs on 🙈😳

Im hoping at least 2lbs are just water retention from the flight, plus my period started today so that tends to make me weigh slightly heavier…we’ll find out the truth over the next week!

20bloodypounds · 16/07/2025 19:54

@Orangesandlemons77 That's great progress. I'm now about 6 pounds away from the weight I was before dc.. I'm pretty happy where I am, looking to consolidate the loss rather than lose much more. I know I can maintain tis weight when I'm at home, but I'm visiting family for 5 days over the weekend and not so in control of what I eat.

@sylv165 one thing is probably certain, you won't have put on 7lbs of fat. If you've eaten more carb heavy food (including wine / cocktails etc) then your glycogen stores will have been refilled (and this process in itself requires extra water to be stored). A week of low carb eating (even if it's not what you usually do) will see the vast majority of that disappear.
B - ffgy and a few nuts / berries OR boiled egg OR avocado and tomato salad (no toast)
L - Ham and cheese salad OR tuna mayo salad OR cheese omelette
D - bolognese sauce on courgetti OR chicken curry with cauliflower rice OR roast meat with veg (no potatoes).

Then back to whatever you normally eat the week after.

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/07/2025 19:57

Thanks! I have just decided to titrate off it as I seem to have stocked up on 3 pens in the fridge, maybe over six months or so as getting a bit fed up with side effects etc. I will see how it goes! If I get much fatter I can always go back on it again..

sylv165 · 16/07/2025 23:30

Thanks @20bloodypoundsI do usually eat low carb so hopefully it will right itself! Food wise I actually stuck to meat, salad and fruit while I was away, so felt like I wasn’t that badly behaved. I did have risotto one night, and dessert another night, but I think it is the alcohol that has been the killer. Plus portion size most likely, while I was largely eating the right stuff, I wasn’t paying that much attention to how much I was putting in my plate.

Anyway, story of my life is that I gain weight in the blink of an eye and lose it at a glacial speed - a 7lb gain takes me right back to where I was at the end of April 🙈. But at least with MJ I know this won’t be the catalyst for a downward spiral of weight gain and I’m back on track again now. Will just keep on going!

MandarinDentistTiger · 18/07/2025 17:34

Well done @Orangesandlemons77 that is phenomenal over the year.

I have lost 4 stone and am a big push to the year anniversary. I have completely stalled over the last few months but not gained.

I don't want to go to a higher dose because of side effects. I do want to change my prescriber to see if I can get a bit cheaper. I might give Boots a try.

EBoo80 · 21/07/2025 09:41

Back from 2.5 week holiday with a 3lb gain. Plus the 2lb I had put on while ill with probable covid last month just after titrating off MJ entirely.

It still feels in the realm of ok at this point, as I had a lovely holiday, with booze and eating out every day, so it could have been a lot worse. Plus I’m still (just!) in a healthy BMI.

Plan is to make a concerted effort with water, fewer carbs and exercise this week, with daily weighing, and see where I am at the start of next week. Big temptation to do another pen or revert to long term low dose, since I have basically never had any side effects. but it also feels useful to work out how I can deal with small gains on my own.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/07/2025 10:31

@EBoo80i also returned from a holiday that involved way too many croissants, bread, seaside chips, cakes and general carb overload. Day after I returned I was 7.5lbs heavier than day I left, 48 hrs of lots of water and lots of protein and I as down to a 3.5lb gain. Water retention plays a big part so hopefully you’ll see a quick improvement now you’re back on it.

doodleschnoodle · 21/07/2025 10:37

sylv165 · 16/07/2025 19:15

I got back from holiday last Thursday and weighed 131lbs. I then spent the next morning peeing loads, I’m guessing water retention from lots of carbs (French baguettes and pastries!) and the long car journeys. Today I am 123lbs. I was 125 when I went away. A bit mad really how much water weight can contribute! So you might find it even more than 2lbs, I’d say it was a good 5lbs for me.

EBoo80 · 21/07/2025 12:30

Very encouraging messages, thanks both! I do feel like I was more moderate on this holiday than I would have been pre-MJ. Slipped back into the habit of mindlessly clearing my picky kid’s plate though which was one of the bad habits I was most glad to see the back of.

sylv165 · 21/07/2025 12:54

@doodleschnoodle you are spot on. Almost one week on and I have lost 6lbs and am now just 1lb heavier than before my holiday. Phew! Must remember this next time I go away so I don't get as much of a shock!!

sylv165 · 21/07/2025 13:11

Has anyone else noticed that they are bruising more easily? I've just noticed my legs and arms are covered in bruises and I don't remember injuring myself at all. I suspect maybe some vitamin deficiency with the lower calorie intake.
