Has anyone used shemed for mounjaro? It seems a good price but you are locked in for 12 months if approved.
Thanks

What if the medication doesn't suit you, you get side effects and you don't want to continue, or it doesn't give you the suppression you want/need? Either could happen at any time, first injection or 6 months in!

movinghomeagain · 05/12/2024 20:16

I'm not worried about that tbh, more wondering if the company is reputable as I've not heard of them before

colesr · 05/12/2024 20:24

Never heard of them but I would not use a pharmacy that charges for a 'testing kit' and then locked you in for a year.

Orangesandlemons77 · 05/12/2024 20:25

It says on the website something about if you don't keep up with appts / check ins they change you to £199 a month..

CiderJabs · 05/12/2024 20:36

Sounds dodgy AF and I'd stay clear if I were you. Not sure what the £49 testing kit does to establish if you're eligible, and when you google the head pharmacist name, it brings some churches and dissolved companies. Sounds awfully fishy.

movinghomeagain · 05/12/2024 20:38

Thanks, I thought the price was too good to be true!
Will keep researching

There are loads of reputable pharmacy's that you can order from instead, some with more in depth support than others if you need it.

www.monj.co.uk is a really good up to date comparison website to help you choose and lists all the current prices and discount codes that are available and only lists properly licensed pharmacy's :)

I have used Zava, Medexpress and IQ Doctor so far, all have been straightforward and no issues.

https://www.reddit.com/r/mounjarouk/shemed

Seems to be yet another new company with an owner who happens to be a pharmacist wanting to get a slice of the Mounjaro train like Oushk. They seem to have hopped different jobs till they found this cash cow.

They're following a slightly similar business model of locking you in to stay on our books type of thing but for Shemed, being locked in for a year is likely to bring a lot of issues her way if it doesn't work out for people.

I don't think people should be forced to stay on this medication or with a company that offers it just because they've paid for a plan. While it's a sure way to get the steady income from subscribers, they should be able to cancel at any time.

KrankyKumquat · 05/12/2024 22:20

@OushkSmoushk
And here you are again, spreading disinformation about Oushk. Shemed is nothing like Oushk - yes they do maintenance plans but it's not a subscription - you can move away at anytime, you don't pay upfront, and you can buy a pen when you want or not at all if you don't want to. 'An owner who happens to be a pharmacist'? What does this even mean? If I'm choosing a private supplier of a prescription medication, why would I choose a company owned by a second hand car salesman or an estate agent, in fact anyone who's not experienced and qualified and understands the business they're involved in?
Your obsession is really weird.

OushkSmoushk · 05/12/2024 22:45

We always know the brand promoters/marketers on Mumsnet.

MelainesLaugh · 06/12/2024 08:07

If you’re already on the jabs it seems that they won’t then take you on. I just went through the questionnaire out of curiosity.

Ive yet to find all the prices though!!

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/12/2024 08:24

It seems it is to do with E-med and Babylon which I have heard of?

KrankyKumquat · 06/12/2024 08:32

OushkSmoushk · 05/12/2024 22:45

We always know the brand promoters/marketers on Mumsnet.

Except you. You contribute nothing to this community, other than to slag off one pharmacy. Are you a competitor or paid grifter? You never explain or share your own experiences, under this silly name anyway. Anyone who knows me from these threads knows my story, I hide nothing, I try to help others where I can. You though... As I said, very weird.

Considering Mounjaro only got licensed this year, are you going to assume every new company is on the “Mounjaro train” ??

I would love to know which company you are from and why you hate Oushk so much!!

Did they reject you? Or did they steal your patients? I am a qualified shrink and I will be willing to offer you a free session to understand your trauma.

murraymcgill · 06/12/2024 14:16

I wouldn't use them they sound dodgy I'm with Asda and happy with them

KrankyKumquat · 06/12/2024 16:52

@TheWildRoseBear
He/she won't answer; they never do. Just lurk, waiting for their next opportunity to spout their usual b*llocks. I think it's a bit creepy. Wonder where else they spread their bile? A moderator on a UK Reddit MJ page gets death threats sometimes in relation to Oushk - there's some very odd people out there.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/12/2024 09:36

Just googled as I was thinking 99 a month sounds a fab deal!!

I've literally just filled in their form and then thought "I'll check on mumsnet"

I like the idea of blood tests.

Is this really bad idea?

SilenceInside · 19/12/2024 09:45

I think that given they are apparently doing a medical trial, that they might not be as flexible as a normal supplier. I'd want to look at the terms and conditions in close detail, to see what the costs are if you need to make changes that aren't compatible with what they want to do on their trial.

They certainly wouldn't want you to be using the pen in a way not authorised by the manufacturers, as in getting a 5th dose out of it, or counting clicks to do a smaller dose.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/12/2024 12:50

I've just read it all through.

My thought is if I'm paying 99 every 28 days and getting anew pen then I wouldnt need to be counting clicks or getting an extra dose as I'd be paying far less anyway.

I wouldn't need to chase the cheapest each month/look for codes as I'd be on it.

It looks like it takes a lot of the thinking out.

Yes it's a clinical trial. I like the look of the blood tests and don't think regular contact would harm.

You don't get to choose when you go up doses though so that level of control might be an issue. I might contact them about that but on the flip side I wont have to be working it out. Someone in whose interest this is that it works and with medical background would decide which I think I'm okay with. Usually digs I've been on the Dr has decided the dose...

YourPeachZebra · 19/12/2024 19:20

I'm curious if anyone has tried this service, as the £99 monthly price is quite attractive. If someone loses interest or wishes to cancel before the year is up, and is paying by direct debit, could they simply cancel the direct debit through their banking app? Would that force them to stop the medication deliveries?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/12/2024 21:10

I spent some time "chatting" to someone online today from Shemed and I think I'm going to go for it.

I think in theory if you stop you'd owe the rest of the years worth but I suspect if there's a clinical reason they'd stop anyway.

In order to get the reduced price (99 a month)

  • You do have to have a 60second call roughly once a week where they watch you do the injection (3 weeks out of 4)

*you have to do a blood test first which they charge 49 for to check you're eligible on their criteria. If you're not they refund it.

  • There are symptoms questionnaires. To fill in.

It does seem brilliant. There is support like with some of the higher charging apps and they are happy to help with side effects and discuss side effects. There's clinicians you can talk to if you want to.

They do a (free) blood test at 6 and 12 months which I'm interested in.

However high a dose you get to the price stays at 99 a month and gets delivered each month. Any problems with deliveries and they send another.

I think it's a good deal. They do put you back up to their standard plan 199 if you don't fulfil the reporting requirements though.

Id quite like the support and am going to give it a go

They send out the blood test but you can't return it til 2nd Jan as they need to know it can be couriered and then within a few days they send the first pen!

Its linked with eMed so it is established.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/12/2024 21:10

Also I don't want to be chasing referal codes and don't have much money!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/12/2024 21:26

@movinghomeagain did you go for it? I'm pretty sure I going to if I pass the blood test.
