Has anyone used shemed for mounjaro? It seems a good price but you are locked in for 12 months if approved.
Thanks

@LightsAndBaubles ooh that's great! We'll be starting at the same time. I'd be keen to share experiences!

I've googled their blood collection device and it looks quite nifty.

I've also joined the January thread in the hope it will go okay.

Good luck @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden ! Well done for researching it yourself despite the naysayers on here - I had a look at it but I’m not eligible as I’m on MJ already.. I think it sounds interesting and I like the thought of helping to understand what the other health benefits are of MJ by participating in a clinical trial.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 10:25

Thankyou 😊.
How has it been for you?

LightsAndBaubles · 22/12/2024 10:31

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

I will join the Jan thread

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden its been incredible thank you - helping me to lose 2 stone so far (of 3 that I had regained after losing 5 stone about 3-4 years ago).

Most importantly I feel free of obsession around food - it’s incredibly liberating.

What an exciting start to 2025 for you! 🌲

CatsorDogsrule · 22/12/2024 10:54

I thought I'd give my experience of the weekly calls, as I was with e-med at the start, for 2 pens, and assume it is the same process. I stopped because e-med was expensive, I didn't need the support and didn't want to do the calls each week, but it may have been worth it for the Shemed offer.

To be fair, the calls weren't tricky. You simply log in through the link they email, or through the app. It was available 24 hours and they connected quickly. You need to enable the camera so they can see and hear you, but you only see a graphic of the clinician/ technician.

It only took a few minutes of showing ID, standing on the scales, answering or asking any questions about side effects, etc. Plus I was supposed to do the injection on screen, but I always called after I'd done it, and they accepted that. (It might be non-negotiable with Shemed.)

Chocolateporridge · 22/12/2024 13:48

Could someone please link to the January thread, I can't find it!
I've requested a blood test kit but I'm in Scotland so I'm not sure they'll accept me 😬

Oh that's really interesting so I guess shemed is doing what emed was doing? But for £99 a month.

I didn't realise it had all been established before. Thats kind of useful to know it's not all brand new.

So you don't book the calls? It just connects you when you're ready.

I haven't quite worked out how to hold my phone and do the scales/jab.

I wonder why that was all part of it. I assumed it was for the trial but maybe it's part of the psychology of it or something.

So e-med was a subscription service, but you could cancel any time. I had offers for the first two months, then cancelled.

Blood tests weren't part of it, as there wasn't a trial aspect.

They emailed a link a few days before, so when you are ready you can click the link and it connected within a minute - in my experience. They basically took control of the camera during the call, so flipped between cameras when they wanted to see the scales. They were perfectly nice and I can see why people would like this weekly service check-in, it just wasn't for me.

They also did the video call when I signed up, so they could do the ID check and verify my starting weight before making the decision to prescribe - which was confirmed by email very shortly.

The app and website showed that they also had a general private healthcare/ GP / blood testing service that was also available, but I didn't look into them.

@Chocolateporridge here's the Jan link but also love to just compare shemed notes here too!!

@CatsorDogsrule Thanks. That's really helpful to know. I'm not at all keen on the video call aspect but I'm going along with it for the cheaper meds! I don't really see why anyone would actually want it.

Its really helpful to know I don't have to book a phone call but can just do it! And that they truly are 24/7 as they say (who on earth would want to wait at 3am to talk about sideeffects/watch jabs?!)

I hope I don't have difficulties getting through /can just get on with it when I'm ready.

I'm glad they're nice. It feels a bit random but I'm happy with a minute a week if it means I get to do this for 99 a month!

Gearing up for a JANUARY start! | Mumsnet

Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick. Anyway, thought I’d start...

dcbgr · 22/12/2024 15:34

My experience is Oushk is one of the better and most reasonable and sensible of providers. Of course they want to make a profit. It is a business not a charity. But they genuinely seem to listen and try and provide a service. Happy repeat customer and Oushk were not my original choice (first tried ASDA - too expensive; then MedExpress - no personalised service).

BabaGanouch · 22/12/2024 15:44

At the moment shemed are using people to spam support boards to push themselves…………

Other userrs have pointed out their t&cs of the 12 month contract is very restrictive.
They are using their own staff eg calinda Robinson to promote themselves with videos while failing to mention they work for them, on YouTube .
The trial they say they are running is not an ethical trial.
The small print of the contract is ALL you have to rely on, don’t believe people who try to tell you otherwise. You have been warned..
I don’t care who you go with but don’t sign up to a contract that you can’t get out of

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 16:07

I was happy with it when I spoke to them and asked all my questions. If the side effects are beyond what is normal you can end the contract. For me I am very morbidly obese so I know a year would make sense and not having to keep change providers but I equally see others might not need as long/want the freedom to chop and change.

I think for the money I'm fine with it. I'm not sure id want the founder to dinner but they're all businesses at the end of the day.

I also don't fancy the weekly calls but happy to do it for the drugs and overall supervision vs Just paying random supermarkets for cheapest price.

I don't at this stage think it's a scam but do think not everyone would want the Ts and Cs it is very definitely a years contract.

She did tell me they're linked with eMed which is established.

I will update regularly as I will be using mumsnet for community support anywyay so we will see. I am really hoping it works out. I am nervous of side effects but in my case it's this or surgery so I'm all in.

Who is spamming Mumsnet to support them? All I've seen has been a couple of questions asked on here, no doubt after a marketing push in December has raised their profile.

BabaGanouch · 22/12/2024 16:13

Have you looked at the Trustpilot reviews of emed, Babylon health , and Babylon gp at hand . Shocking.

This is going to be a bit like what the manufacturer puts down to 'wear and tear' and a car and what is covered by warranty - essentially there is not set detail. I think even if you decide the side effects are bad they might pass them off as normal.

You think it’s ok that they are using their own staff on you tube videos without saying they are their own staff……

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 16:22

If it's me you mean then mumsnet can confirm I've been around 15years since my daughters birth.

I could easily go off on a rant about the ethics of using codes and discounts and people that post all over the place "helpful advice" followed by their code and that's blatantly not a good idea. And that's one of the major players. People still use them (I probably would have if I didn't go for this).

We will see won't we. If everyone on the trial is unhappy in a few months then they'll have shot themselves in the foot. They've got a vested interest to make it work!!

Well it's clinicians so there's some professional judgement involved.

I'm okay with it. As I said personally bar hosptial/some severe adverse reaction I fully intend to do MJ for over a year as I don't want surgery and feel the side effects of surgery are lifelong vs temporary ones with drugs.

They do also give you over the counter meds to help with side effects and on call advice so I'm happy that's as much as I'd get with any provider tbh.

nor about the trustpilot reviews.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 16:28

I'm not here to argue on their behalf. I don't think I need to. No company is perfect and I can see the babylon company he also runs isn't going great. Shemed has good reviews though. Maybe this is his next thing. Who knows.,

I've just signed up, waiting for my kit and going to join in with the MJ starters for January. And also keen to chat to anyone else doing it so we can do it together!
