Has anyone used shemed for mounjaro? It seems a good price but you are locked in for 12 months if approved.
Thanks

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

Well it's clinicians so there's some professional judgement involved.

In the same way that mechanics are involved in the 'wear and tear' decisions.

There is no set standard for what they consider unacceptable side effects. They have said if they are outwith the norm you can be released down contract but they haven't details what that is. I suspect sickness and diarrhoea won't be covered yet many people stop because of this.

They do also give you over the counter meds to help with side effects

You should not need these, i think this is another way they will try to keep you in contract. Nobody wants to be dosed up on things like Imodium one week and Movicol the next.

I realise you have made your decision and I hope it goes well though

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 16:52

Well yes I've already signed up. I get that it may not be right for people looking to lose a few stone but I'm on it for the long haul and will take what I can to make it work.

I didn't want to be stressing each month about who to go with and we are not on a high income so being part of the trial is worthwhile pay off for me

As for side effects as I said it would likely be so much worse if I had an Op so this is my best bet and I'm up for any help with them!

For those on a high income I imagine Voy would be one to go for with support. And those that are happy to share codes - Med Express.

And then there's lots of small pharmacies too.

Mixed reviews about all of them. And everyone needs to maw their own choices.

I'm really hoping it works for me.

CatsorDogsrule · 22/12/2024 17:00

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden Best of luck with it, I hope you make it onto the trial and gain the desired results!

I've been on MJ since July and today have got to a 60lb loss. Still another 30 to 40 to go.

As I said above, I was with eMed for just 2 pens. I didn't feel like it was a scam, and the company were as professional as the other pharmacies I have used. I'm not sure why one or two posters have such a bee in their bonnet, it almost seems suspicious.

BabaGanouch · 22/12/2024 17:00

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 16:28

I'm not here to argue on their behalf. I don't think I need to. No company is perfect and I can see the babylon company he also runs isn't going great. Shemed has good reviews though. Maybe this is his next thing. Who knows.,

I've just signed up, waiting for my kit and going to join in with the MJ starters for January. And also keen to chat to anyone else doing it so we can do it together!

Curious response…..
U still haven’t replied about them using theiR own staff to make promotional videos like as though they were regular customers .
is that legal??
Is That what you meant by” no company is perfect”? 😳
You seem very keen to get off this subject 🤔

Thanks it's really reassuring to read your experience! I've signed up now so I'm committed.

And yes I'd say the other posts are starting to look suspicious. Not sure why anyone would want to hound people signing up to Shemed though. (I'm not responding to them anymore as they've obviously got a bee in their bonnet and I'm not here to deal with that.) I'm quite anxious by nature so really need to go in with positivity. I've been googling side effects and time of day to start (see other thread) and really this is a huge thing for me. I'm 21stone something and tried so many things in the past so really hoping 2025 is going to make a difference to my health. I'm also job hunting too!

I'm post lots on mumsnet so if they're crap lots of people will hear about it!

I never said that. I think you quoted the wrong post.

colesr · 22/12/2024 17:14

Just wanted to say I'm not suspicious - just super cautious. I thought it was a conversation but it seems that makes me look suspicious so I shall bow out now.

As I've said I'm not engaging with you anymore. I don't think I'm stupid but I am very very large. You'll see how I get on on here so hopefully it goes okay.

The OP does not have to answer your questions about Shemed - I don’t know why you’re interrogating her? She’s researched it and made a decision that she’s happy with - it’s quite controlling to be haranguing someone for a choice they’ve made which has no bearing on anyone else whatsoever.

CatsorDogsrule · 22/12/2024 17:30

@BabaGanouch You both were interested in Shemed and did your due diligence reaching different conclusions.

Maybe like me, she didn't watch the videos that you were referring to, nor read the reviews, so can't comment.

Most people are aware that unless an incentive is involved, people are less likely to post positive reviews than negative ones.

Again, I've not read them as I'm not interested in signing up to Shemed, so have no need.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 17:32

@85reasons Thankyou.

Southwest12 · 22/12/2024 17:39

I posted about them the other day as had seen an advert, but now definitely wouldn't want to use them but that's my personal view.

I would just advise people to double check on the contract and side effects as if you look at the patient information leaflet that comes with Mounjaro there is a long list of known side effects, and if they are saying that people can be released from a contract if they get side effects outside the known then that could potentially see someone who develops pancreatitis being made to pay for a year long contract as that's a known and expected side effect.

Exactly.
Also this is called the adherence programme.
If they say you are not following like the way you should ( and you don’t know what those terms are) the contract reads that they could therefore say you need to move to the more expensive £199 programme.
They also reserve the right in the contract to put the price up at any time.

Chocolateporridge · 22/12/2024 18:00

I'm so disappointed, just got an email back from them, they're not running this in Scotland 😕

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 18:01

Oh no 😔. Are you going to go with anyone else?

Definitely, but I need recommendations, I like the idea of being monitored and having help to hand like Shemed but I need it as low cost as possible.
Any suggestions?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/12/2024 18:22

I really don't know. I was going round in circles looking at them all and balancing cost and support. I imagine there's people on mumsnet on most of them.

Or start with one with support maybe and then buy the pens yourself once established?

Oushk can be a good balance. They are not a subscription as such but very supportive. Join their Facebook page (Oushk support group) if you like. They don’t monitor as such but available if you need help or information. They always have good discounts on as well - current MERRY15 which makes 2.5mg £118.

Shemeds monitoring is all digital
It’s hardly monitoring at all.
There are a couple of companies that offer a lot more support but I haven’t tried them so couldn’t say.
I choose ones with a telephone number so I can ring them any time I need advice . You can’t do that with all of them .
Im not recommending anyone

murraymcgill · 22/12/2024 19:41
