First full day on 5mg yesterday and suppression much higher, food noise totally silent.
Had some salad with chicken and beans in work canteen, couldn't eat much of it. Didn't snack at all.

Threw it up when I got home. Not good. Hadn't felt any nausea before that and it was painful as it was a good 6 hours since I'd eaten.
Feel fine this morning, of course the scales show a slight gain Confused

Hi all, I’m a November starter, the 8th to be precise, if I’m feeling brave I’ll post my starting weight later! But suffice to say I need to lose half my body weight to be anywhere near a healthy weight.
No awful side effects to report just a slightly upset tummy for a couple of days.
I’m already feeling that 2.5 isn’t quite enough so I’m looking forward to increasing my dose at the end of next week.

JasonTindallsTan · 27/11/2024 08:46

I’m very frustrated this week. I started exercising and trying to eat a bit better in July, I lost a stone in about 6 weeks and since then I bobbed around the same weight give or take 3 or 4 pounds. Whilst I kept the exercising up; the eating slipped and I couldn’t get myself back into control of it. The weight then crept back up so basically I’d put on half a stone of the stone I’d lost. Enter MJ. Week one I lost 5.5lb so was pretty much back down to the stone lost weight. Since then I’ve lost 2lb, put on 1lb, lost 0.5lb, put on 1lb, and still can’t get down past that bloody stone mark and into the 15’s. I finished week one weighing 16 stone 2.6lb. Today after a week of losing and putting on the same couple of pounds I weigh 16 stone 2.4lb. Like ffs. Give me strength.

I hear you!! I'm only a few weeks in and it's not shifting very fast this week. I am prepared for it to take some time though.

I do wonder if I'm not eating enough - as like you, I exercise!! I never believe that but I do wonder....

If I'm only eating 1300-1500 calories, and doing a 90 minute hockey training session which burns 300+ calories, plus just living, you know - breathing, walking, moving, eating etc - my calories in versus calories out must actually be a bit low. And I'm not feeling it due to MJ.

My BMR is 1680 cals. That is literally just to be alive, at rest.

I then move a bit in my normal life. So if I was sedentary with little or no exercise I'd need 2000 calories a day just to maintain my weight.

So in 2 days I need 4000 calories. I have eaten 2700 calories so in a big deficit. And then I've burned 590 active cals according to my Apple Watch. Which knows my heart rate, weight etc.

That puts me at 1000 calories a day which has got to be too low to be healthy for long for me.

If I can't lose weight on that - at my height, weight and activity level then I'm screwed!!!

But I'm overthinking it and need to be patient I think.

Sounds so much like me. I’m just annoyed as I want to see results fast. I know realistically my cals in v cals put must be in the right balance. It’s impossible not to be.

This was my Apple Watch activity for warm up plus match on Sunday. Plus as you say. Living and pottering and dog walking. I’d have to be eating like Henners the Eighth (which evidently I was at one point) to NOT lose weight. So in sure it will come off soon. But Fuck me. I wish it was now. I just really need to see a 15 at the beginning of those scales to keep me going!

Hiya, I started in the 7th; I jabbed today as trying to move it back for Xmas. I have lost 7.5lbs overall, which I am happy with. How have your loses been?

Oh I hear you. I have done my daily 30min pilates programme religiously on top of my 6% daily incline walk for a solid 50 mins at 3.5mph. My scales this week have shifted from 13.18 to…13.08. I eat zero processed food. I am on one meal a day, I low carb. I now only have wine on Saturday/Sunday. I drink at least 3l of water a day.

On the upside, the lack of food/booze noise encourages me to keep going. Previously I’d have given up. My clothes do feel looser and I have less chins… so I’m waiting for my mega weight loss week… because I’m bloody well due one 😭

AlwaysTimeForWine · 27/11/2024 10:40

@JasonTindallsTan

It's so frustrating isn't it and my exercise stats aren't anywhere close to yours. I did the following exercise so far this week - and I only time my match itself, not the warm-up - so the cals would be higher:

Sat - Hockey Match (80 mins) - 446 cals
Sun - Strength training (50 mins) - 327 cals
Mon - Hockey training (90 mins) 777 cals

That's as well as generally eating an average of 1500 cals a day over those 3 days. I've not found it difficult to eat less so the MJ must be doing something or I should be STARVING!!

That's the only thing that's keeping me focused this week - knowing that the slight appetite suppression, the nausea, burps, and the indigestion MUST mean that the MJ is working so I just have to stick it out.

But if I don't see those scales start moving this week I'm going to find it hard to justify paying my money. I'm not expecting MJ to work without my effort as well - I am putting in the effort - it needs to pay its way!

Hi, I’ve lost about 8/9lbs, so about the same as you I think, my old scales were unreliable but I got new ones yesterday that seem better.
i should be able to accurately record my weight and see my progress from now on - it took a lot to actually step on accurate scales but now it’s done it feels like the beginning of something.

100% this! MJ is doing something as I’m finding the eating so much easier to stick to.

Arglefraster · 27/11/2024 11:36

@JasonTindallsTan @AlwaysTimeForWine
are you aware of the "exercise paradox" which is based on comparisons of calories burnt by the Hazda v.s US office workers
basically the hypothesis is that our bodies adjust to the exercise we do by burning less energy in other ways & therefore the amount of energy humans actually use in a day stays fairly consistent regardless of a few extra hours of exercise

It's very (very!) annoying but might help explain why the exercise you're doing doesn't make as big a difference as you'd expect it to.

ShaunaSadeki · 27/11/2024 12:08

This week I’m not having much suppression but food noise not too bad at all. But I am now so much better at deciding what is hunger and what is boredom/habit.
If travelling for work at this time of year I usually expense a sickly Christmas drink from Starbucks at the station, just for the sake of it as not even that keen on them. Today I queued up chose my options, mulled whether to have the whip on top, the decided I wasn’t even hungry so left as it got to my turn.

I'm not actually expecting the exercise to make that much difference. But when you look at the bigger picture it is still calories out v in.

I did this exercise before MJ. It is part of my life and always will be and I didn't start it because I was trying to lose weight. So when they talk about lifestyle changes and being active, I would say that I am active most of the time.

I have a sedentary job, but I do the following in a week: hockey training, hockey match, a lunchtime walk once a week, one functional strength training session, and one bootcamp/HIIT style session but strength-based (most weeks but not every week). In fact, I had an injury recently and didn't exercise for 5 weeks. I cut down my food, continued to drink wine most nights, stopped snacking but did not track calories, and lost 7 lbs in 8 weeks.

I'm now on MJ, back to exercise, massively cutting calories and I lost 5.2 lbs in my first week, but this second week, the scales aren't moving. It doesn't make any sense to me. But 5.2lbs in the first week is great, and I need to hold onto the fact that this will be a long journey to lose 3.5 stone.

I know I am ranty today, and I am sure that by the time I weigh on Saturday, the scales will have moved. But this is going to be a long and expensive journey if they don't! I could understand if I wasn't getting any help from the MJ - but I am - I'm finding it easy to limit my food and aren't very hungry! It's the calorie deficit that isn't working - not the MJ!!

I suppose that because it took me so long to pluck up the courage to go on MJ, that now I'm on it, I want the weight gone! NOW! And it's hard not to compare yourself with others who seem to be losing massive amounts of weight.

JasonTindallsTan · 27/11/2024 12:54

^what @AlwaysTimeForWine said word for word.

But @Arglefraster its deffo something to keep in mind. I’m pretty confident I’m eating a lot less calories than I’m expending so it has to show up on the scales at some point.

Ggmores · 27/11/2024 13:01

For those that experienced no appetite suppression in the first week or so, when did it come in? Just about to take my second dose and managed to put on weight this week, just wondering when I can expect the suppression and weight loss to start!

BleachedJumper · 27/11/2024 13:12

@Ggmores that’s disheartening!

Some people do take their time to respond to the mj in the lower doses.

Have you changed your eating habits? I do understand that mj can work to improve insulin resistance, but I’m a big believer in helping it along the way by reducing my carb intake, so significantly less of the bread, flour, potatoes and pasta etc.

Are you drinking loads of water?

Arglefraster · 27/11/2024 13:15

Sorry @JasonTindallsTan & @AlwaysTimeForWine I didn't mean to offend & wasn't suggesting you were getting things wrong just that our bodies are so much more sophisticated than the calories in/out that we can see/measure.

My body is determined to survive the famine I have not experienced & I have previously kept to a 1000cal/day deficit for 6 weeks & lost a total of 1.7kg 🤷‍♀️

SellWell · 27/11/2024 13:20

I have a slight problem, maybe, I've tried to order my next pen to pick up when I go back to the UK next week for a few days, I've tried to order off a website and I inputted all my details, paid (much cheaper in the UK than where i currently live) and now they are asking for a prescription, but I don't have one. Do they all ask for prescriptions ? I was hoping to save myself over £50 a month by buying in the UK and bringing it back with me 😪

Takemeawayy · 27/11/2024 13:23

Hi, can I join this thread please? Started on 13th November so 2 weeks in, 3rd jab done today. I lost 6lb first week and 2lb second week so feeling really positive and hoping to keep up the 2lb weight loss. I’m not finding it’s completely cut food noise so maybe a higher dose will help but I am eating smaller portions as I am full quicker and I have definitely been actively choosing to reduce intake which has been made easier because of MJ

Goldleafcat · 27/11/2024 13:29

Just to provide some solidarity - I am feeling very frustrated and wondering if it is worth the cost. I lost a good amount in my first week (6lbs or so - suspect a lot was water) but since then I’ve pretty much stalled - hovering about 15.12 (from 16.6 / 16.7 when I started). My suppression is not very strong but I’m definitely eating less (and better), and no snacking. It seems alien to me when I hear how some people are struggling to eat / get the calories in, and how they’ve totally gone off wine etc. This is my first week on 5mg. I’m hoping there will be some sort of cumulative effect. Definitely moving to 7.5mg when it’s time! I think I’m going to try to give it until I hit 15mg and if it’s not really doing a lot I will go back to doing it alone.

I’m not expecting it to be a miracle fat busting drug - I’m just looking for the help with the willpower / feeling full…

hayal · 27/11/2024 14:16

Hello fellow November starters 👋
Thank you to the lovely person who shared that MedExpress price match.
Thanks to you alerting me to this I made a claim yesterday and they have credited £66 to my account today.

Novjaro · 27/11/2024 15:51

@JasonTindallsTan @AlwaysTimeForWine
it’s pretty much the same story for me too. I must’ve literally halved my calories (evening chocolate binge-eater here) but have so far only lost 5lb and I’m on W4D3.

While I’m pleased that others are having big losses, I can’t help but think why not me when I’m doing everything right and tracking calories, exercising, drinking water etc. I’m hoping my time will come. At my size the weight should just drop off.

One thing for me could be that I’m forever taking steroids for persistent chest infections - I’ve taken them 5 days a week every month at the moment which I know can’t be helping.

Onwards and upwards, I’ll see how it goes over Christmas and New Year. I hope we all see some good movement on the scales soon!

My losses are nearly similar to yours. I've cut down so much and upped the water but cann't help feeling disappointed with the loss. On the other hand, I'm also about to start week 5 tomorrow and I can't remember when I've ever managed to get to week 5 since I was a teenager.
Hope you have a good loss next week.

IHateMozzies · 27/11/2024 16:35

Week 3 weigh in today and lost 1.5lb, 7.5lbs in total. I had a slight gain last week so happy it’s going down again!

MamaorBruh · 27/11/2024 17:10

Not been on here for a while, I was away at the weekend - drank an obscene amount.
W4 - I weighed on Monday and stayed the same which was incredible given the weekend.
So I'm still on a 9lb loss in 3 weeks, hoping by the end of week 4 there's another couple of pound, however there is pretty much zero suppression now which is a shame. Looks like I will need to move to 5mg but as I only had headaches as a side effect on the 2.5mg, I'm worried the 5mg will be bad.
