Day 1.

I am going to watch ‘how to’ video, have a cup of tea and then do the jab.

Weight this morning 19 stone 3lbs. BMI 41.5.

I will not weigh again now until next Monday!

I hope this works. I feel it is my last chance now I am 51 (before full menopause makes it even harder! ).

Anyone use medexpress? Voy want £200 for my next pen think this is too much. Medexpress does it for £149.

Edited

Hello .hope it all goes well ,I was very nervous before I injected the first time ,but the leaflet explained everything so well.
I'm with treated ,not the cheapest, but very efficient and I've no complaints

I'm up to 5mls now ,not really noticed any different, but only injected 24 hours ago ..I'm averaging around 1300 calories a day ,but stressing ( still ) that that is to much ..
Totally off what I normally eat ,so not touched any snacks or crap.
Usually have a coffee ,a sandwich at lunch ,a small jacket potato and salad and a bit of something with it for tea ..and that's been it for a while ..
So I'm sure if I keep at it the weight will drop ..
But what happens with out the injections...well I don't know , because never in my life have I stuck to 1300 calories a day ..
I hear of people not being allowed to order when they get to a decent BMI ..so how do we continue with a maintenance dose ,I've no idea

Must admit I am still hungry. Eating less but more will power than the drugs. Hoping the step up will help.

Exercising again. Did 2 km swim today.

I have to make this work.

In bed teeth brushed and not eating again tonight but it is sad when the tv says it is going to turn off because it has been on too long!!! I am a tv addict at the moment. Just keeping myself away from the kitchen.

What dose are you on to still feel hungry
Is that after meals
I think we are supposed to feel hungry before a meal
I do the same ,I go to bed when I've eaten my allocated calories.. because I'm to lazy to come back down stairs to get more food .so sometimes I go to bed at 6 pm and watch my tablet..it's no life really .

I’d love to join you on this thread. I’ve similar starting stats.

I am only a day in but of course now I have read others’ experiences on other threads about how they are already noticing appetite down and not fancying food (also on day one) I’m convinced it won’t work for me. Does it not work for some? I just don’t know what else to do if this doesn’t work.

Welcome ..hello .
I'm on my 5 th week ,and I've had times I didn't think it was working, and time seemed to go so slow as well.
I've not weighed myself, but I'm eating less ,so eventually I will loose weight,I just need to give it time .some people weigh every day ,and that works for them..
I think ,I personally expected to much from it ,I seriously thought it would do the work for me ,and 5 weeks in ,I realised, for me ,it's not a magic wand ,it is tool to help me make the right choices.. sometimes I don't make the right choice..but I'm going in the right direction.
I also thought I'd loose weight very quickly, and I now realise, that's not going to be the case for me ...

@Cakesandcookiesnomore I am only on day 2, first injection 2.5mg. I did swim hard for an hour today burned over 1000 calories maybe my hunger is linked to this. I gave in and had 2 crumpets tonight. See what the scales say on Friday 🤞

OliviaFlaversham · 02/11/2024 22:37

That’s helpful to know. Just everything I have read has said how ‘almost immediately’ the appetite suppression begins and other posters also saying that is making me feel deflated so early on. I honestly feel as hungry/cravings/food noise as usual.

SilenceInside · 02/11/2024 22:53

@OliviaFlaversham there's such a variety of responses to the medication it's just impossible to say how it will work out for any one individual. My view is this has to be a long term process and a long term commitment. The medication initially takes between 8 and 72 hours to be in effect, and then will affect each individual differently. The 2.5mg dose is meant as a starter dose to acclimatise to the medication, it's not intended to produce weight loss even if some people do experience it. It might take another day or two for you to feel the effects, or it may take another dose or two of the 2.5mg or it may take till 5mg or higher.

It's so early to be disappointed in the process.

For me ,it was more the food noise switched down .. appetite suppression has been limited,.. definitely not immediately. even now I could eat a big meal if I wanted to..I suppose years of overeating are going to be hard to undo for me .
Also ,I don't want full suppression.because I've got to manage real life with out the injections at some point ...it is easy to feel disappointed when you hear of people loosing 12 lbs in the first week..but no point comparing,we all respond differently

@OliviaFlaversham I do feel different but not in a physical sense yet maybe it is the placebo effect?

I am exercising regularly again and I am logging my food. No alcohol and crisps open now so I will abstain til Christmas.

I really need this to work so I am trying to help the process with my mindset too.

Honestly, I have the next few weeks off normal work so I can go at it hell and leather so I don’t have any excuses.

Seeing dietician next week about possible weight-loss surgery referral but tbh I am not sure that is for me.

I love food and wine and it is a big part of socializing. I just have to change how much I love it! One glass instead of a bottle. One course meal instead of a three course meal. Set limits and don’t carry on the party all week after the weekend.

7 weeks til Christmas. Stocked up on duty free all tempting me but in the garage taped up!

It is a battle for me.

I am hoping Monjouro is enough.

I find ,it's still a battle even with mj.
I could easily still stuff my face on a bad day .
.I'm needing a lot of willpower even with mj .
.unless it gets easier with higher amounts.
all the people saying it's an easy way out ,.well it isn't being so far for me ,but it takes the edge of ,it helps

Ah thanks for those responses. Online, one provider said the suppression would happen immediately so I panicked. Today I feel more in control which is a first. Massive bag of crisps open and I feel fine having had 4. This hasn’t ever happened in my whole life.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 03/11/2024 14:48

That's really good ,so something is working to only eat 4 crisps

I just took my sixth injection yesterday. When I started I was over 25 stone which is the heaviest I've been! This morning I weighed 23st13.8. The first couple of weeks I didn't see a huge difference but slowly my mindset seems so much clearer on it, I have got more suppression also after going up to 5mg. Other people say I look like I've lost weight but I can't see it myself yet, i do feel just better in myself oddly apart from the tiredness around the jabs.
The first 24 hours after my first jab where horrid throwing up severe anxiety like something bad was going to happen was bizarre and I actually thought I wouldn't continue but I am glad I did.

@Cakesandcookiesnomore and @lilijm it is reassuring to hear others have had a similar start to me. I am going to stick with it and accept it is not the quick fix I was hoping for but …. a much healthier slow loss which in the long run I hope to sustain.

I am eating less but I am still hungry but it is a different sensation though. Not intense but definitely some cessation of emotional eating.

lilijm · 05/11/2024 08:13

Everyone's journey is different I didn't have a huge loss in the first week like everyone else, it
Is easy to get disheartened I can understand that. You just need to find what works for you, I started of calorie counting as was easier for me to understand and I am still doing that but what I found is I wanted to eat more healthy as time went on! I was a bit of an obsessive eater so would only eat certain things repeatedly, mounjaro has really helped with that, I've actually been really careful to not get to routine so I don't slip back. Sometimes it's the non scale things you need to celebrate x

Yeah I came to same conclusion
And it's a lot of money to be disappointed with how it's going .
I'm also sticking with it ..for now

I’m so cold. Anyone else get this early on? It isn’t actually all that chilly and my family seem fine so I’m assuming it is a side effect.

I started on Saturday morning so about half way through week 1. No other side effects so far. I’m loving how I am eating smaller portion sizes without needing more although I am hungrier in the evenings still.

I’m not calorie tracking as it would be a lot of guess work (I’m in a role where our food is provided and no other option except that for lunch-though a huge variety). Today, I have had Greek yoghurt, frozen raspberries and fresh blueberries with a table spoon of granola and some honey for dinner and I had 4 ravioli and some roasted tomatoes with raw undressed pepper for lunch. And 1/2 of a Quorn sausage roll. Does that sound similar in amount to others?

AgathaLioness · 05/11/2024 22:50

Hi everyone,

Can I join?

I started in April at 335lbs and am now 314lbs (lowest was 312 but I seem to drop down then go up again for a while then drop down again!) It's very slow for me, less than 1lb per week but it's lasted better than any diet I have done in years. I'm not tracking calories as such, but am making better food choices, and with the appetite suppression I'm eating far less than I would've done before. I'm hoping to join the gym again soon so am hopefull I might see more losses then, or at least a noticeable change in my body!

Yes, I was freezing at the beginning!! I seem to be pretty much back to normal in that regard now, thankfully!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/11/2024 23:31

@lilijm I think that people are more likely to shout it from the rooftops when they have huge losses, so we read all these ‘success’ stories and feel a little disheartened when it doesn’t happen for us.
Im on my fifth week and am 9lbs down, started at 19st 3lbs and I’m over the moon with that, I couldn’t have done it without the help of MJ, I’d just be in an endless cycle of starving myself then binging and full of self loathing. It’s a little miracle that lives in my fridge!
@OliviaFlaversham thats my go to breakfast too, I’ve started adding a teaspoon each of flax and chia seeds and some chopped up dried prunes to help with constipation. I also snack on a couple of sweet flavoured rice cakes in the evening if I’m peckish or a mini babybel. Like you and @AgathaLioness I don’t track calories, I’m concentrating more on portion sizes and making sure that I eat the right foods.
Counting calories makes me ‘angry’ I don’t want to be grating exactly 10 grams of cheese and counting every grape. Maybe later into the journey I’ll need to rethink, but for now something is working.
Im also not abstaining from anything, I don’t drink so that helps. But weekends I’ll eat bread, just not as much as before, there’s treat size chocolate bars in the fridge for Saturday evenings only, I’m trying to eat how a ‘normal’ person eats.

lilijm · 05/11/2024 23:59

I have been absolutely freezing this week and it's bizarre as I'm usually the last one to say I'm cold!

Always cold here too .my back especially,I can't get warm.
I sort of currently keep an eye on calories,I think I'm usually between 1000 to 13000 a day .
Which I've before in my life been able to stick to that . I could eat less , but I'm back exercising now and I don't want to be feeling faint
