I'm just looking to chat with others who have a lot to loose .
It feels daunting, and it's going to be expensive.
I'm currently week 3 on monjroro

I've counted WW points for the whole 18 months. Along the way I've also added intermittent fasting, cut out UPFs and make sure I feed my microbiome the healthiest foods and at least a variety of 30 different plant foods a week.

My BMI was over 50 when I started. I've been using Mounjaro since mid-May and have lost 58lbs (just under 10 BMI points). Like most people who are that big, I think I was really in denial. My clothes were all quite old so stretched a bit and I was probably wearing them too tight as well, so I haven't officially dropped more than one dress size or so but it's starting to be more visually apparent since I've been at the 3 stone+ loss mark.

I'm being realistic about how much I can lose. My main target would give me a BMI around 35, with my stretch goal being around 30. If I'm still losing at that point, I might go further but I'd be incredibly happy with that.

I'd be happy with that too ,you have done really well

OP, I was where you are now when I started on Ozempic in August 2023. It’s daunting and there’s a lot that goes through your head, but please don’t write yourself off before you even try.

I have 8st 4lbs gone. I’m aiming for 10st.

It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and I have no hesitation in recommending GLP1 meds to anyone who needs them.

You can do this.

I think I can be very impatient, and I definitely need to relax and trust the process

My BMI was 57 when I started Ozempic. After a year it was down to 49 and it's still falling.

November2024WL · 24/10/2024 20:25

I will join. Currently 19 stone 8lbs BMI 42.5. NAFLD 65% on recent liver fibroscan.

On holiday til next Tuesday. Ordering injections to be delivered by November.

Any recommendations. Thinking Voy?

Possible referral for WL surgery but my neighbor regrets having it and is putting me off. Hoping the injections work.

Addicted to crisps and nuts. Will have to go cold turkey. Can feel my liver and gall bladder suffering (I think!).

Edited

I used to love crisps OP but I found if I just didn't buy them after a couple of weeks I forgot about them.

caringcarer · 24/10/2024 22:52

I'm on Ozempic because my GP prescribes it for me as I was pre diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and my thyroid doesn't work so I'm taking Levothyroxine, stating for cholesterol, blood pressure meds too.

unsync · 24/10/2024 22:53

@November2024WL I use Asda for MJ. It's not the cheapest, but their customer service is excellent, they have good support in place, they don't seem to have supply chain issues that some of the discounters do and I can collect from my nearest Asda so I don't have to wait in for delivery.

I have NAFLD, but feel so much better now than when I started. Not sluggish at all. My sister said to me that I have much more energy and stamina now. Don't worry about the crisps and nuts, you lose the craving. I now only eat nuts in cereal or between gym classes if I need a bit of oomph, I'll have a couple.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 24/10/2024 23:06

I ummed and arred ,and spent ages over the last year thinking about these injections,I just wish I got on with it when I first considered it .
I think my weight was having a huge effect on my mental health
And even though I am at the start of my mj journey
Just knowing I am trying to help myself makes me
feel so much better mentally,

I started at the beginning of June, BMI was 51. I’ve lost 3 stones and my BMI is now 43.9, I have about another 7 stones to lose. I lose on average 2lbs a week - slow and steady wins the race!

I used to love crisps but now I snack on seaweed thins and boiled eggs!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/10/2024 00:10

Hi, can I join you too? I’m three jabs into this MJ journey.
I thought I was 5ft 4, turns out I’m 5ft 2, lost 2 inches somewhere! So my starting bmi was 49 at 19st 2 lbs, I’m currently 6lbs down, I weigh twice a week.
I also do 5:2 fasting but don’t calorie count as it seems to just take over my life if I do.
I wish that I had started this earlier and find myself wishing the time away at the moment, I want to be six months into the journey so I’m also impatient 🙄my exercise is minimal as I’m tied to my desk all day.
I’m hoping that losing weight will give me the incentive to do more, I don’t know if I’m using the lack of time as an excuse at the moment, I am genuinely busy.
So far I’ve found it quite easy which is a relief, haven’t wanted to eat everything in sight, no cravings for chocolate or biscuits, diet fizzy drinks taste overly sweet, as do bananas, feels really weird.

Janie934 · 25/10/2024 01:59

I started MJ in mid-July with bmi of 54. I didn't notice much effect until recently when I moved up to 10mg. Then I suddenly noticed that I was not getting hungry between meals. I'm currently eating 1500-1700 cals per day without feeling any hunger or restriction. Ive lost 23lbs so far, but the rate of loss is increasing. Hopefully you'll feel the effects at 5mg, but if you don't it is worth persevering as some need the higher dosages.

No! It was 2lb a week from the start. I was initially disappointed not to experience that big loss now with 3 stones down I can feel the benefits it's great. On a Facebook group I'm on they refer to non scale victories and mine are - walking is so much easier, as is putting my shoes and socks on! I can get out of the bath without panicking.

The best one though was my daughter giving me a hug and saying she can get her arms all the way around!!!!

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 25/10/2024 17:19

I've had a really bad day today .no suppression at all .
Eaten very badly..
No idea what caused that , yesterday was great ,today I woke up thinking about food and it continued like a battle all day ,I'd nearly forgotten what that was like since I started injections.
I suppose one bad day out of 21 good days has to be expected,Rome wasn't built in a day ,and I now have learned what foods I can't have in the house

OP posts:
gimmemounjaro · 25/10/2024 17:22

Some days are definitely harder than others @Cakesandcookiesnomore and often for no discernible reason.
I actually gained on weeks 3 and 4 of 2.5mg 🤦‍♀️
But now I'm down over 2 stone
Better days are coming 💪

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 25/10/2024 17:26

Oh gosh ,I do hope your right .
I keep seeing posts of people who have literally changed themselves in 4 weeks .and in 3 weeks I've lost 2 lbs
I was loosing more calorie counting.
It's like I'm having a break on Facebook or ticktoc and these posts seek me out , constant stream of people with huge loses
I just have to trust the process and ,it was only one day out of the rest of my life .
I am never buying those nuts and having them in the house ever again

Do you know what is really annoying me
It's all the threads where people are saying we are having an easy ride using these drugs ..
I literally do not care what people say ...
I'm just really annoyed that I'm not having an easy ride .
I was doing 3 hour of exercise a day and I was loosing 2 pounds every week ,no injections no help, just watching calories
Then the injury
And 3 weeks on the injections I lost 2 lbs, that should of been 6lbs , it would of been if I was able to carry on exercising .
I'm so fed up

Hope every one else is having a good day xx

It is so annoying! Many people have no understanding of how the medications work and think the fat just starts to vanish without any other input.

For me, Wegovy just quietens down the constant food noise, which has enabled me to stick to healthy eating. Without Wegovy my brain would constantly be buzzing and making me think about food ALL THE TIME. It's a huge relief to have some peace and quiet from that. I didn't even realise it was happening until it stopped.

Wegovy has put me on a level with people who don't suffer from their brain compelling them to think about food all the time. As a result, I've found it easy to eat well and have lost over 9 stone so far.

ShiftAMountain · 25/10/2024 18:05

OP, I had a BMI of just over 40 when I started a month back - just over a stone lost since then and I've only today gone up to 5mg. I still have almost 90lbs to get to a healthy BMI.

I have been eating 1500-1600 calories, on average and that is delivering a good rate of loss.

I think it's a nutrional gift to still be able to eat decent meals and lose because then you can still take in nutrients but also it's easier to maintain once you've lost the weight. The 'goal' is to lose weight steadily whilst eating as much as possible whilst still losing weight at a good pace - so be glad you don't have to drop to very low calories to lose.

The first couple upset me. I now just see them and hide them straight away. This journey (for me) involves not engaging with things that are not helpful. I don't need to read the sceptic outpouring of someone else's hang ups - and that's what they are for the most part.
