Have you seen this thread?

Mounjaro / Wegovy with > 5st / 30kg to lose: Thread 3 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight-loss-injections/5183561-mounjaro-wegovy-with-5st-30kg-to-lose-thread-3

My BMI was just almost exactly 50 when I started, which was almost 16 weeks ago. I absolutely know how you feel.

You would be most welcome to join us on this thread, OP. It is a really friendly, non-judgmental space. I started in April with a BMI of nearly 44, and it is now 32.

It must be very frustrating to have to be sedentary if you are used to being active. It is worth doing a TDEE calculation based on your current activity levels. You need a deficit of 3500 kcal to lose a pound of fat, so a daily deficit of 500 kcal will theoretically equate to a weekly 1lb loss. I have often thought that the benefit of a very high starting weight (like I had) is that it’s easier to maintain a fairly large deficit in the early days, but you might find that you need to eat fewer than 1500 kcal while you are recovering. Good luck!

Do you know what is really annoying me
It's all the threads where people are saying we are having an easy ride using these drugs ..

The first couple upset me. I now just see them and hide them straight away. This journey (for me) involves not engaging with things that are not helpful. I don't need to read the sceptic outpouring of someone else's hang ups - and that's what they are for the most part.

I have got sucked in a few times ,and I've tried to patiently explain how they are not a magic wand and it's still hard work, but people on those threads are not going to change their minds ,even faced with facts ,so I gave up ,and I don't read them any more

OP, I had a BMI of just over 40 when I started a month back - just over a stone lost since then and I've only today gone up to 5mg. I still have almost 90lbs to get to a healthy BMI.

I have been eating 1500-1600 calories, on average and that is delivering a good rate of loss.

I think it's a nutrional gift to still be able to eat decent meals and lose because then you can still take in nutrients but also it's easier to maintain once you've lost the weight. The 'goal' is to lose weight steadily whilst eating as much as possible whilst still losing weight at a good pace - so be glad you don't have to drop to very low calories to lose.

Absolutely, and my alternative to these injections is WLS ,where you stay on very small portions, and small calories,so I'm very grateful I'm able to try these injections rather than have to have WLS..
Once Im Back to some kind of movement I. Sure it will be easier

We’ll be delighted to see you whenever you’re ready to join us. I set up the threads for anyone aiming to lose a minimum of 5 stone and there are lots of posters with much more to lose.

Just fyi the thread is for people with more than 5 stone to lose - many with a lot more, some have so much to lose that they don't want to say the numbers. Some are losing quickly, some (me!) more slowly, it's all fine, a very relaxed and supportive thread for those in it for the long haul Smile

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 26/10/2024 07:57

Oh .ok ..
Sorry I do take things literally
I thought 5 stone or less to loose
Thankyou

Have you lost much the first 4 weeks
I lost 2 lbs .
I'd lost a stone before starting injections
But I've been on crutches for most of that first 4 weeks,so it's a blessing I didn't put weight on

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 28/10/2024 12:20

My starting bmi was 54.4. I finished my first pen last week having lost 15lbs so I’ve opted to continue on 2.5mg.

It’s very hard starting with a high bmi, knowing you have such a long way to go. I’ve successfully lost in the past but can only seem to manage around 12 weeks so I’m hoping this is where mounjaro will really come into play for me. I need something to help me stick to eating in a calorie deficit for an extended period of time, possibly for life.

4lbs on the first week and 2lbs on the second, my next weigh in is due tomorrow. Losing a stone before starting is amazing, I hope you give yourself credit for that!

Yes it is very hard .
I have wondered if I should gone straight to WLS ,even though I definitely dont want it .
I suppose it's a mountain to climb , regardless which mountain we choose .that's brilliant that the lower dose is working so brilliantly for you , hopefully that will continue.i had planned to get to a BMI of 35 then hit the gym and do the rest myself.but I had such a bad day the other day ,when it all wore off and I was trying to eat everything in sight ,that I'm probably kidding myself, thinking I can't go it alone at some point

You've got this. You can do it. Any loss is still a loss.
The meds will build up a bit more each time you take a dose so will hopefully help this journey to be a bit easier for you over time.
Time will move on, whether you take MJ or not, and before you know it 4,5 or 6 months will have passed and you'll see a real difference in yourself and be so glad you stuck with it.

I started with a BMI of 44 exactly 5 months ago and now it is 34.
I would never have thought I could do it but it is so worth it. I've still got some way to go but this is undoubtedly the best thing I have done for myself.

I'd be so happy with that .
It's just a trust the process thing I think

Managed to book it right in-between injections,so I've a couple of days before the next one ..
Hopefully they don't effect each other

Your Weight will have gone on over years , it will take a good few months to come off

I had my flu and covid jabs a day before my MJ a couple of weeks ago and I was absolutely fine. I didn’t even get a painful arm this year which was odd 😀

November2024WL · 01/11/2024 07:39

Day 1.

I am going to watch ‘how to’ video, have a cup of tea and then do the jab.

Weight this morning 19 stone 3lbs. BMI 41.5.

I will not weigh again now until next Monday!

I hope this works. I feel it is my last chance now I am 51 (before full menopause makes it even harder! ).

Anyone use medexpress? Voy want £200 for my next pen think this is too much. Medexpress does it for £149.
