I'm just looking to chat with others who have a lot to loose .
It feels daunting, and it's going to be expensive.
I'm currently week 3 on monjroro

Yes this is how I feel too. Still waiting for the food noise to be switched off. The feeling of wanting to binge hasn’t gone but I can mostly control it.

Yes same ,I'm on my second month of 10 mg ,and today and yesterday the urge to binge was there ,I ate a bag of carrots instead of crisps,so I did have some control,

I find being in a supermarket and not buying the junk I want a challenge. Or even just a massive hunk of bread!

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 02/02/2025 10:10

I am still not sure if it's working as well for me as everyone else ,or if my expectations are to high .
I'm looking at weight watchers or slimming world possibly instead of,or along side injections.
I'm paying £200 a month for 10 mg and it's £300 for 12 mg
So I'm feeling I don't want to pay £300 a month , especially as I've only lost approx 4 pounds in January...and that's having one meal a day in an evening and a bag of carrots at lunch .
I just won't be able to sustain this long term .
I don't know ,just thinking things over at the minute

@Cakesandcookiesnomore the first thing I would look to do in your circumstances is to change pharmacy to somewhere much cheaper. You'd get a new customer discount for most places and possibly ongoing discounts. I'm not suggesting you swap to them, but for example I've recently moved or Zava and got £40 off my first order and then £30 off my next order, both for 7.5mg pens. They were already cheaper than my previous provider. You've probably seen the monj.co.uk comparison website, which should give you the current cheapest for the pen strength you want.

Also, could you look at swapping the carrots for something with protein, you might find that more sustainable?

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 02/02/2025 10:36

Yes ,a few people on Mumsnet have said to me to swap providers.
I just found it really stressful getting it agreed,I can't really face it all again

Plus I've not got a gallbladder, and current provider are happy with that ,but I've read other providers are cracking down a bit

AmythestBangle · 02/02/2025 10:39

MyBMI is way cheaper than that, I am paying €140 a month (in Ireland).

SilenceInside · 02/02/2025 10:40

It was honestly no harder than re-ordering from my previous supplier. The same kind of form to fill in with the same kind of questions. My BMI is still well over the prescribing threshold so had no issues there. The only thing was doing new photos, but my previous prescriber would have asked for updated photos at some point too, as I was reaching the 6 month mark with them.

Do you have some additional medical issues that complicate the prescribing process? If you can, it's really not that hard to swap and it will save you a lot of money. The prices are Treated are so high!

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 02/02/2025 10:41

I think I ended up with one of the most expensive providers, but I wasn't expecting to get approved,so I've not wanted to rock the boat by changing

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 02/02/2025 10:43

It can cause you no problem at all to try with a new cheaper provider, as you can always just reorder with Treated if you get turned down. But there have been plenty of people I've seen on here with no gallbladder who have been prescribed without any issue. There are some threads about it somewhere.

Once you are accepted by one it's easier with the others. You send them photos of you and a photo of your prescription (the sticker on your mounjaro box) and fill out the forms and they should be OK. I swapped from med express to Zava with a discount code and my 7.5 pen was £130!

If I don't keep my protein up and count the protein and calories for each day I struggle too but using the Nutracheck app has jusy becaome 2nd nature and having my collagen in morning coffee gives me my 1st 10g and I need to make it to 120g a day which I'm now finding pretty easy. A chicken breast is about 40g and I have 2 blue mini baby bell for a snack which is another 10. Having a high protein yogurt at 25g and sometimes I add the vimto protien into my bottle for extra really gives the boost and without it I absolutely stall!

I hope that helps if you want a nutracheck 30 date trial I have a link I can give you. I hope your journey becomes easier x

SilenceInside · 02/02/2025 10:49

On other threads, I have seen that people with no gallbladder have been prescribed by Asda, Oushk, Oxford, LLoyds, Zava. There are probably others too. Filling out the form for a new provider and trying is a no-risk all-gain approach.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 02/02/2025 10:49

I'm actually vegan ,and protein is a real issue.
I've not heard of nutracheck

JaroSally · 02/02/2025 11:07

I have sent you the 30 day trial I really like it.

There are loads of vegan protine products like shakes you can try to boost up buy you may find tiktok a good source of info or to speak to your provider.

SilenceInside · 02/02/2025 11:12

@Cakesandcookiesnomore I'm vegetarian, so a bit easier, but I sympathise with the challenge of finding enough protein. Do you like things like seitan, tempeh and tofu? Also chia seeds are high in protein, if you don't mind the texture!

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 02/02/2025 11:31

Thanks guys ,very helpful advice

I have got really into chia pudding left to soak in overnight witb some frozen berries it's absolutely delicious and doesn't have the negative results that they had when dry!

TheTwinklyBlueTiger · 04/02/2025 10:25

I've recently found protein bagels, wraps, and sandwich thins from Warburtons. They are really good! Full of fibre too. Mushrooms are a good protein too in the vegan side, I think also perhaps Quorn?

I had stalled a bit the other day, then realised I wasn't eating enough and was swimming and going to the gym and my body was probably in starvation mode. So yesterday I made a conscious effort to eat more (plenty of protein) and it kicked off the loss again.

Had my 1st 5mg jab on Sunday so far 21lbs down since starting on 8th January. Down to a bmi of 44. I've just ordered another 5mg pen. I've been using simple online pharmacy, I also don't have a gallbladder and it's been fine with them. But I'm thinking I might shop around when I go up to 7.5mg to see if there's better prices out there.

TheTwinklyBlueTiger · 04/02/2025 18:53

I've just ordered some things off skinnyfoodco it looks really good. Hopefully will bring a bit more flavour to some of the bland food 😊

Iwouldratherbesinging · 04/02/2025 22:53

I love the French vanilla syrup from the skinny food co. I used to drink diet cream soda and Pepsi max constantly but now they just taste awful and too sweet, I use the French vanilla syrup in sparkling water and it’s bloody delicious! I did try some strawberry equivalent but it was gross 🤢

Oh goodness, I did read some reviews that some flavours were a bit chemical tasting. I've bought some sauces to try to try and give the chicken I'm eating a bit of flavour. A friend of mine uses the sweet syrups in overnight oats, she's sent me some recipes to try. Just trying to mix things up a bit.

Have any of you drank alcohol on this? I've a couple of things coming up which i will probably have a drink at. I'm not much of a drinker and usually drink vodka, blackcurrant and still water. I've been lucky with no side effects so really don't want to make myself feel unwell.

I could just not drink, but, everyone will think that's weird 😅 I've not actually told anyone I'm taking mounjaro.

I bought some cocktail mixers from the skinny food co too, I'm hoping they're not disgusting!

TheTwinklyBlueTiger · 10/02/2025 18:49

I ended up having 2 x vodka, water and blackcurrant and the heartburn kicked in and i couldnt drink anything else because of it. So maybe that's my answer 😅

I don't even know if alcohol is ok on mj
But I quite fancy a cool glass of wine
Which is odd ,as I never fancy alcohol

I was just wondering how everyone was doing
I'm still on 10 mg
Still not plain sailing
Headaches ,that I think are migraines
Hair loss
Cold , tired all the time
But they could be due to my weight as well
So I'm keeping going on it ,once I've lost enough weight to feel happy at the gym I might try going it alone .
I could actually sleep now ,I'm counting down until I can get back in to bed

Hi @Cakesandcookiesnomore I'm on 7.5mg which i have been for the last 22 weeks. I had hair loss, but that has now pretty much resolved itself and I have lots of short regrowth happening. I am cold all the time, but I've got used to it and wear lots of layers and have multiple hot water bottles/blankets in bed. I am lucky in that I am generally not tired all the time, I usually have more energy than before I was on Mounjaro.

I have another 4.5 stone to lose, my losses have slowed down recently to 0.5 to 1.5 pounds a week, so I think I will move up to 10mg for my next pen.
