Always cold here too .my back especially,I can't get warm.
I sort of currently keep an eye on calories,I think I'm usually between 1000 to 13000 a day .
Which I've before in my life been able to stick to that . I could eat less , but I'm back exercising now and I don't want to be feeling faint

Think I added an extra 0 there by mistake 😀

Hi everyone,

Can I join?

I started in April at 335lbs and am now 314lbs (lowest was 312 but I seem to drop down then go up again for a while then drop down again!) It's very slow for me, less than 1lb per week but it's lasted better than any diet I have done in years. I'm not tracking calories as such, but am making better food choices, and with the appetite suppression I'm eating far less than I would've done before. I'm hoping to join the gym again soon so am hopefull I might see more losses then, or at least a noticeable change in my body!

That's brilliant,I'm a slow loser to .but it's better than fast off ,fast back on as per my usual way with a diet

I’ll pop an extra layer or two on today I think then. @Iwouldratherbesinging thats exactly how I’m thinking of it-I want to eat like a ‘normal’ person. Someone who doesn’t eat 6 bags of crisps in a day and isn’t obsessing over food. I’m trying to be far more present and mindful when I’m eating and thinking about the flavours rather than the bulk iyswim?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 06/11/2024 06:52

Just jumping on to reassure pp that feeling cold is a common side effect. It’s apparently related to the drug’s action on the hypothalamus. I am a bit further along my journey than many of you and now find that I’m getting cold again, but I think that’s because I’ve lost a lot of my insulation!

I wonder what 13,000 calories looks like in a day 😂

I started mid July with a BMI of 52, I’ve lost 3stone 3lbs in 15 weeks and my BMI is now 44. I’ve got a long way to go (another 7 or 8 stone to lose). I’m eating about 1300 calories per day but think I need to start doing more exercise/ walking.

November2024WL · 06/11/2024 11:12

@Bournetilly excellent results. Thanks for sharing.

At the minute I'm absolutely freezing and constantly moaning the house is cold ,adult son is wandering round half dressed in a pair of shorts and no top .busy telling me don't be daft ,house is warm..bloody kids ..
Come the summer ,I will be very glad to feel this cold ..as I don't like the heat either 😀

The suppression has stayed the same on each dose, it starts to wear off about week 3 (never as bad as it was without the injection) and then I move up a dose, so think my body gets used to it. I’m about to move up to 12.5mg as 10mg has been making me really hungry this last week.

I’m still using a lot of willpower but it has made it so much easier.

The only side effect other than the suppression I’ve had is some diarrhoea which started after the 7.5mg dose.

lilijm · 06/11/2024 18:00

Had the doctors today about my knee (I'm clumsy tripped up two months ago.) of course the weight come up but it's so nice be able say I'm loosing weight now! I did have to laugh though on my notes she put she acknowledges she is a larger lady 😂 like I could deny it 😂.

I'm on second week of 5mg, suppression was really good this week but don't know if it's because period as I'm normally hungrier? That's another odd thing my period is meant to here I keep just getting little bit of odd discharge sorry to be crude it's taking ages to come properly. Even tho I have PCOS I'm usually quite regular so I'm not enjoying this extended symptoms period.

So when we get to the top dose ..what happens when it stops working.
I hoped it would help me eat smaller meals ,but it isn't doing.
It's helping me not snack ,and I'm definitely eating less, but I could still chow down a huge dinner if I felt like it ..so I'm also needing a lot of willpower at the moment .
Tictock has a lot to answer for ,with the ...I lost a stone a week posts and I can't bare to eat posts ..
It is helping me ,the Injections I mean
I just expected more from it , from the money it cost ..if that makes sense

I also have a dodgy knee, which plays up ,
As for the other ,I'm on the POP ,so never have a period, which is nice ,
I'm 51 ,so probably have to come of it at some point anyway.
But that must be frustrating for you
Are you having surgery on your knee ..it might improve with weight loss x

I am not as hungry in the morning either so I wait a couple of hours before I eat breakfast.

I’ve often wondered about what happens when we get to the top dose, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to titrate up the dosage slowly as some others do, so if 5,7.5 or 10 works well then I can stay on it for a couple of months before moving up. I worry that if I get to 15 too quickly I won’t have lost enough.

I think it’s making me think more about how full I feel when eating, I’ve bought smaller dinner plates, that helps as psychologically I still have a full plate.
I’m not snacking, although yesterday was hard but I didn’t give in to the little devil on my shoulder telling me ‘one won’t hurt’.

I’m not sure. I think we are supposed to have suppression at 15mg but I do expect it to wear off after a while as all the other doses have done (it will still be better than not having the injection though). I think it will be more down to willpower if that happens. I will be wanting to add exercise in too.

I’ve seen some people say they take the injection along with phentermine but I thats not something I would do as I’ve phentermine in the past and it made me ill.

Hello

I started calorie counting earlier in the year and my bmi was 57.6. It's now at 52.9 but I've been stalling quite a bit. I've made lots of changes around habits and feeling a lot better about some of my food choices but also realise I'm often all or nothing. I've battled all my life with cycles of doing well, huge losses on sw or ww but then can't keep it up so I go into big shame periods where I eat and pile it back on. I've avoided that all year which feels huge for me but I feel like I'm hovering at this same weight.

Mounjaro is being delivered today and I'm planning to take on Sunday evening as that's a consistent time I'm usually at home. I'm nervous to start but after reading all your positive experiences, I'm also excited.

My plan is to weigh weekly. Drink lots of water. Protein heavy foods but try and stay under 1500calories (will see how this goes and might lower)
I don't have a target weight as it's probably half of my whole weight and feels too much, but hoping to celebrate and get to 5 stone total loss (I've lost 2.5 this year) and will reevaluate.

Yep ,me to ,I can often wait till lunchtime for the first food ..

Maybe we can take the doses closer together,I read somewhere, about someone being told to take the doses every 6 days

That's interesting
I've also ,twice in my life lost 5 stone and 7 stone ,and here I am having put the lot back on both times...it's the maintaining I struggled with in the past ..
Although at 51 ,this is the hardest I've ever found it loosing weight.menopause must be playing a part in finding it harder to loose weight..
Your doing really well that's a huge drop in bmi .you must be very proud x

@Cakesandcookiesnomore

I've been referred to weight management service via the NHS which I originally thought would be prescribing wegovy but they don't commission this in my area. I've waited almost 12months to be referred and then was told no injections but it is a 12 week course, then drops to monthly for a total of 12 months. It is ran by a company called more life.
The courses I don't think have hugely helped but the commitment and focus, as well as meeting like minded people may have contributed. It's helped me think about what my habits and triggers are. I will have some of these on email so I will dig out my notes and post here in case it helps? I actually don't rate the company and it felt a big push on bariatric surgery as well which wasn't my personal preference. I suppose what I'm saying is I got some good information about habits which have helped but I definitely find it hard staying focused and maintaining so hoping to focus on that more.

It's really complex when we have a high bmi and we know that we need to move more and eat less.. but being reminded of that week and month by month at courses like these can help some, but then other people can disengage, or spiral. I think the injections will hopefully help me but I know I've still got lots to do about my habits and psychological relationship with eating and exercising longer term. Hoping by 'saying it out loud' in a forum like this it might help me as well so I'm really glad I found this thread

I am on tier 3 for weight loss surgery,I had my pre op assessment last march and I was told my op would be this November, like now .
Then I heard nothing and chased it up ,only to be told I had another 3 year wait...
Why on earth they did a pre op assessment 3 years before surgery,is anyone's guess..they told me it was down to COVID ...
Anyway,I was forcing myself to gave surgery , because I didn't feel I had a choice.
No I'm on MJ ,I feel I've got a choice and I'm really really hoping that I'm at my happy weight when it's my turn for surgery,so I do t have to have it ... because if they offer it me when I have a high BMI ,I feel I have to accept, regardless of if I want it or not ..
In my area you can go on a waiting list of Wls or injections
But both are 3/4 years wait
But I had heard of people going on injections waiting list ,for 3 years ,then being told their BMI was to high and surgery was all the NHS would offer .
I just thought, that would be just my luck
So I went on the surgery list .
If they offer me surgery in 3 years .that will make it me being 6 years on tier 3

To get to tier 3 ,I had to jump through so many hoops ,consisting of very basic food education courses ..3 of them to be exact,..do I know what a portion of cheese is or a portion of chicken .. really basic stuff ,like if that was all my problem was ,not understanding portions..then I'd be thin .. because I'm not stupid .
None of the courses acknowledged how complex obesity is ,or did anything more then get us to calorie count and send in our food diaries plus our weight each week .. absolute waste of my time and the NHS money.
. .

For the first time in 6 weeks of being on MJ
I've not managed to finish my dinner
It was already a much smaller portion
But tonight the last few mouthfuls,no couldn't eat them .
Plus I feel incredibly full ,like I should of stopped eating after half .
Finished the day on 1200 calories approx
