Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Hi @Nowthereistwo
I had my first injection today.
Happy to chat.

Oohluvly · 23/10/2024 18:00

Great idea. Hoping to join soon.

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 18:15

How exciting you've started already.

Selfishly it's my birthday early next week so even if the pen arrives I'll start after then.

Are you planning a full diet and exercise overhaul?

I need to, especially to maximise results and ensure I keep it off when I come it.

Have you ordered yours or are you still researching.

I was researching until we had friends over at the weekend and I massively over-ate and the next day I decided that was it.

My first pen arrives tomorrow, I think I’ll take my first injection on Friday evening.

Bigsigh24 · 23/10/2024 20:08

Pen arrived, birthday tomorrow and sons next week, nrhe M-F away so starting in 8th November. Since I ordered on Sunday though I’m back to healthy eating, walking and swimming , excited to start x

BrownJenkins · 23/10/2024 20:10

@Nowthereistwo definitely planning a complete change of lifestyle.
I've struggled with my weight for the last few years. The death of my DH along with a couple of major surgeries saw to that. Now is the time to get my act together. I'm early 60's and suddenly decided it's now or never. I hope that once the weight starts to come off, it'll be the incentive I need and I'll be able to keep it off in the future.

Blueberrymuffin8 · 23/10/2024 20:14

Are there any future side effects? Does anyone even think/ worry about this?

Yes, everyone on it and everyone considering it. And people have made a decision based on that. I just spoke to my GP today who has supported me taking it and mentioned that some of his colleagues who're are on it are reporting very good news about the medication. He said he really wishes they could prescribe it to me but I don't meet the NHS criteria, but maybe someday it can happen (be widely accessible on the nhs).

I'll take the word of my very cautious and knowledgeable GP as well as other pharmacists about the medication. Every medication comes with side effects.

I'm planning to order soon now that I've had my GP consultation about it and got the go-ahead.

I signed up with Voy last night. My first pen is due tomorrow. I had luck with saxenda until it became difficult to get hold of. Tried wegovy but had no surpression on it so gave up. I'm desperate to try again so giving mounjaro a go.

sweetheartyparty · 23/10/2024 21:07

Hiya, my first pen arrived today but will be starting Monday as I'm away this weekend. I'm feeling a bit nervous about it but also excited to lose some weight hopefully. I'm 48 with about 40lbs to lose

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 23/10/2024 22:06

Hello, my pen arrived today, starting Friday. Been gaining weight steadily over the past few years, tried and failed at every diet going and kind of ignored how big I’ve become. 45 and around 70lbs to lose. Only DH knows and is fully supportive. Good luck to everyone embarking on this journey.

Sketcho · 23/10/2024 22:22

I got my pen from Voy today - I only ordered yesterday, so really pleased. I had my first injection today, so I'm sort of waiting to see what happens now!

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 23/10/2024 22:25

I had my first injection today too. I’ve got around 6 stone to lose so really hoping it works for me.

Kialla · 23/10/2024 22:44

Hello!

My first prescription is due to arrive tomorrow and I'm planning to start as soon as it gets here.

I've been on a diet all my adult life, most recently focusing on a calorie deficit with weight training and nothing seems to work anymore. I saw some pictures of myself at the weekend and decided enough is enough.

I'm hoping to try it for 3 months and then re-evaluate. Ideally, need to lose around 6 stone in total (I know that'll take longer than 3 months!)

Jabtastic · 23/10/2024 23:25

I had my first jab today! I wasn't sure whether to join Oct or Nov threads so I've joined both.

I went for Voy for the coaching aspect but they are definitely expensive. I've had some nausea and really spectacular burps tonight. Advice online was eat a smaller portion, eat it slowly and chew it A LOT. So that's the plan for tomorrow. Good luck all!

Nowthereistwo · 24/10/2024 05:21

Hi everyone, how are you deciding what day and time to inject? Is it better to do morning or evening?

This will be my first proper attempt to loose weight in about 17 years (since wedding), when I did the atkins diet. My main issue is portion size and snacks so I'm hoping this will help there. But i definitely need exercise to get fit and play with my kids more.

I also have 6 stone to lose so it's going to be a life changing challenge. Good luck

Hello. I'm hoping to start soon.
Still waiting for approval from Numan health. I actually don't think they understand my prescription meds. If I don't hear anything today I will try VOY.
It does worry me they didn't know what my drugs were for. Plus they keep sending reminders about erectile dysfunction! 😄

Luluspink · 24/10/2024 07:18

I started on Tuesday - just a dry mouth and occasional dull headache, plus no appetite which feels a bit weird,

StarShapedWindow · 24/10/2024 07:42

I started on Tuesday too, also getting a dry mouth and no appetite. I had body aches on Wednesday but they’ve gone today. I don’t think about food at all (unless thinking what to feed the DC). It’s the strangest thing because I’m always thinking about food!

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 24/10/2024 08:38

I’ve woke up with a cracking headache this morning (but have every day this week so might be nothing to do with it), apart from that I don’t feel any different. How long did it take for the rest of you to notice anything?

I don’t usually wake up hungry and don’t have breakfast for a few hours so it’s early to say. I’ve been thinking about food for later though so I guess the noise is still there for now.

I’m going to try and drink lots of water and have an electrolyte drink. I started taking collagen about a week ago (while I was waiting for the pen to come) and wasn’t expecting to notice anything for 6 weeks or so but I’ve actually already noticed a change in my facial skin so that’s a positive. Hopefully that translates to helping reduce loose skin.
