November Mounjaro Starters

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:
Kialla · 24/10/2024 17:14

Mine arrived and I jabbed immediately!

Nothing to note other than a weird taste which could be anything at all. And I went to the supermarket to buy chicken for dinner and forgot- but that's more likely to be because we all got distracted in the Halloween aisle!

unicornsarereal72 · 24/10/2024 17:19

I'm starting tomorrow evening as it's half term so if there are any ill effects I can take it in my stride. Nervous and excited in equal measure. Could do with shifting 3 stone. But be happy with 1-2 to be comfortable.

TabbieMctatty · 24/10/2024 18:02

Hello all!
Can I join please. Ordered today and my pen should arrive next Tuesday.

I'm really excited to try this though scared of the nausea and constipation.

I lost 6 stone with Cambridge diet and surprise surprise have put it back on. So I have a lot to lose at least 6 stone and know this won't be a quick fix. But I'm hoping to build healthy habits. I also want to appear to eat "normally" in front of my kids.

I just can't wait for the food noise to be gone. I honestly feel exhausted by it.

One thing I am wondering, as I'm much heavier than a lot of people doing this, will it take longer for me to feel the effects as my body is bigger? I guess time will tell.....

Love this! I think this will be me, just get stuck straight in, no time to think about it or talk myself out of it.

The supermarket story sounds just like me (even before mounjaro!!)

Sketcho · 24/10/2024 18:06

I think I feel a reduction in food noise. My main takeaways on Day 2 are: I want to eat protein more than anything else, and I haven't really felt hungry all day. I'm still convinced I'm making it up though, I can't quite believe it can be workingGrin

That was me too - straight out of the box, straight into my leg. I was desperate to get started Grin

Jabtastic · 24/10/2024 18:24

I was the same! I didn't want to overthink it!

This is my Voy code: https://www.joinvoy.com/r/U-IWdDfOI4Yv

I've just watched a piece on BBC news about people misusing these drugs. I honestly can't understand why someone slim would do this. Voy seem to toe the line - you have to send a full body photo including face. I was surprised they don't force you to give GP details. I was able to order on Monday, do the webinar and coaching session on Tuesday and jab as soon as it arrived on Wednesday. It was cold and came with sharps bin. They aren't the cheapest and I'm not sure I'll do the whole journey with them but I think they are great to start with and get some confidence using MJ.

@Kialla yeah I can imagine. That fear always stays with you. Well i've just took the first injection.. so lets hope the sickness stays away🤞 I have such a fear of vomiting too🥴🙃

Anyone been vomiting on them?

Jabmountain · 24/10/2024 20:44

I started yesterday. I was nervous about side effects but so far all is well. Today I have had zero appetite- it’s actually quite an odd feeling!!!! I am doing the Fast 800 as have done it before but it takes massive willpower. I found it hard to do more than a couple of weeks. So in theory it should be much easier this time and last a lot longer. I am also using this to retrain myself to eat properly and not constantly snack. The Fast 800 has really yummy quick to cook meals so am looking forward to them. Good luck to all the new starters.

TabbieMctatty · 24/10/2024 21:09

Good luck all. I'm looking forward to hearing how it is going for those of you that have started until I get my pen next week and I can join in with my experiences and observations!

TabbieMctatty · 24/10/2024 21:09

Those of you that have jabbed - were the instructions easy to follow? That's what I'm most nervous about - somehow messing up the injection or storing it incorrectly or something!!

I'm with Voy - they have brilliant little close-up instruction videos for each stage that play on repeat until you tap to go to the next stage. That made it really easy for me as I need a visual guide. They also include a storage box for pen and needles.

I still thought I'd messed it up as I barely felt a thing! Turns out that the needle is tiny Grin

Yes the Voy app is really good and clear and definitely gave me the confidence to get jabbing!

ElinorDashwood68 · 24/10/2024 22:34

I started on Monday. Within an hour or so, no hunger and stopped thinking about food, I've eaten x3 small meals each day without any issues.

I'm on a week off at home this week, I'm so glad I started as I'd have eaten treat foods and probably a few bottles of wine and put weight on otherwise. Instead I've had freedom to enjoy day trips without thinking about food.

I've eaten 1150-1350 cals each day but notice on other pages that many are eating less than 1000 per day so hoping I'm not eating too much

CallyCC · 24/10/2024 23:03

First day on Mounjaro. I've not really felt hungry, although did have to stop myself from turning to food when feeling stressed. I've charted what I've eaten on MyFitnessPal. Aiming to keep to 1200 calories. Managed OK for today, just under.

Need to stock up on easy to eat low cal food I think.

I got DH to inject in the back of my upper arm, I don't think I can inject myself!

PostpartumMama · 24/10/2024 23:36

@CallyCC I used to be on clexane injections for 6 weeks after birth.. couldn't even look at my husband injecting me.. yet done it myself tonight and I didn't even feel it go into my skin.. I done it really slow in my front thigh (although I've big chunky legs). If I can do it, you can too. I'm the biggest woose when it comes to needles😅

I think once you have done those that these will be a doddle. I did clexane which aren't too bad and progesterone which is a massive needle into the thigh so this should be ok.

Can't wait to get started. I have started following a lady on YouTube that has done great on mounjaro called Lady Mawa if anyone needs some inspiration.

Good luck to everyone

Choux · 25/10/2024 07:56

Good Luck to everyone getting started. There are so many weight loss injection threads on the board now that you might not have noticed the main one which is called 'Continuing Mounjaro 22'. At the beginning of each of this thread is a post by @Jimmyneutronsforehead which has a link to a lot of info compiled by the posters who started Mounjaro when it first came out. I just posted on it so it should be near the top of the weight loss injection board (for an hour or so!) It might help with questions.

Or feel free to ask on any of the other threads for monthly starters. There is one for Feb to April starters who are now at or near the end of their Mounjaro journeys and I think one for every month after that.

@ElinorDashwood68 what everyone is eating depends on their size and the level of suppression they are getting. If you are feeling some suppression already and can eat smaller portions of healthy food you will likely be in a calorie deficit and will lose weight.

Try to think of it as you are simply on a diet (except this time you have the support of Mounjaro to help you succeed). And, just like on a normal diet you should feel hungry. Hunger on Mounjaro is completely normal - the goal isn't to completely kill your appetite so you can't eat. You want to be on a dose which lets you eat enough to keep your energy up so you can live your life but suppresses your appetite enough that you can regularly eat a calorie deficit and lose weight. For some people that is 2.5mg (or even less) and they stay on that the whole time. For others who are less sensitive to it they go up through the doses to 15mg. Listen to how your body is reacting to Mounjaro and then choose whether to go up a dose for the next pen or stay on the same dose. Good luck again.

StarShapedWindow · 25/10/2024 09:05

Is anyone taking supplements alongside Mounjaro? I’m taking a probiotic and just started taking ‘Gold Collagen’ which I’ve ummed and ahhed about for months but thought I’d give it a go. I should take a vit C and Zinc but often forget.

Kialla · 25/10/2024 09:31

@choux such a helpful post, thank you so much!

Still feeling fine today. Bit headache but probably because I helped at the school disco last night! Bit dehydrated as I was put so didn't drink as much water last night as I normally would.

Not hungry yet this morning. I've got overnight oats ready to go but waiting until I feel that I need or want them - trying to get out of the habit of eating just because I think I'm supposed to and learn to listen to my body.

I do feel so much more positive about this compared to any other diet or regime I've tried - almost like some of the weight has been lifted.

Good luck to anyone starting today or over the weekend!

BrownJenkins · 25/10/2024 10:21

So far I'm not back and forth to the fridge or snack cupboard in the evenings.
I woke this morning with a slight headache, quite manageable. I also had a loose motion this morning, unusual for me. I've been sleeping as normal but do seem to have a bit more energy.
My injection was so easy to do. Must admit I watched a couple of Youtube videos on how to inject before I did it. The main thing is to make sure you leave the needle in for 10 seconds, to guarantee all the liquid goes in.
Anyone worried about injecting themselves, please don't. You honestly won't feel it.
I'm not taking any supplements, just having high protein food and drinking lots of water. I'm also making my own smoothies.

Mrsredlipstick · 25/10/2024 10:26

Does anyone inject into the stomach? I'm use to doing this. I have skinny legs (weird I know with 4 stone to lose).

Kialla · 25/10/2024 10:32

I injected in my stomach. My thighs are probably my most muscly body part. My stomach is definitely not!

Didn't feel a thing.

Be careful doing this.. when I first started I waited to eat as had full suppression, didn't eat for nearly 2 days, nearly fainted.. haha. Stupid I know but really didn't want any food.

Now I make sure u have at least lunch and dinner, even if its just a protein yoghurt or 2 boiled eggs or something.

LauraB74 · 25/10/2024 11:12

I see lots of people posting codes. Can these be used on every order or just the first order you place? Be nice to get a discount off every order not just the first.
