Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

I'm waking up at night needing water 🥴 I need to make an effort to drink more water during the day to combat that!

AllstarFacilier · 28/10/2024 09:56

I’ve ordered my first pen and it’s been dispatched, I imagine it will be here tomorrow. I’m waiting until Wednesday to take it as that will be an easier day for me if I have any side effects. I’m going out for a meal on Saturday, so I’m not yet sure how I’ll deal with that. My ideal weight for my height is 8-9 stone, but that would mean losing 7 stone, which I think is too much. I’d be happy if I lost 4.

AllstarFacilier · 28/10/2024 10:07

I’m planning on calorie counting alongside the jabs, how have people worked out a good amount of calories to eat?

Kialla · 28/10/2024 10:51

Still going well, although I'm on Senna today as its been a while 🙈 Absolutely no other side effects. And no nausea which has been a relief.

I really don't think about food outside of the practicalities of mealtimes. Also finding that I am eating more slowly and noticing that I'm full. I didn't think I even had a full switch! And I haven't had my usual obsession with every meal being enjoyable, I'm able to just eat whatever is available.

My husband and kids got doughnuts while we were out yesterday and I really had no interest. Previously, I'd have either talked myself into just having one (normally with the promise of exercising it off later) or I'd have felt really hard done by because I didn't get one. This is the kind of stuff that is really liberating for me, I feel calmer and even more productive because I'm not thinking about food.

If you use a TDEE calculator like this one, it'll give you a baseline of the calories you use per day. It's generally recommended to reduce that by 500 for weight loss.

In reality, I know that i need a bit more of a deficit than that and that I need to be eating high protein.

imanidiotsandwich · 28/10/2024 12:02

Took my first jab yesterday - I'm so tired!
How long does this last??

LauraB74 · 28/10/2024 12:13

Still not started as royal mail still haven't delivered my pen but I've been watching what I eat and been going for a long walk in the morning. Just hope the pen arrives before I lose momentum.

BleachedJumper · 28/10/2024 13:02

Sorry to hear you’re still waiting on your delivery @LauraB74 I’m in exactly the same boat. I keep refreshing the Royal Mail tracking page for updates like a mad woman!

even though the pen hasn’t arrived for me yet, I’m still treating today as my ‘Day 1’ where I’ve had a food shop of healthier, high protein options to fill up the fridge, and started taking some multivitamins.

Oldmouse · 28/10/2024 13:03

I've ordered my first does but had email from Medexpress to say they are experiencing delays due to demand.... hopefully won't be waiting too long!

Sketcho · 28/10/2024 13:21

Two firsts for me: I felt a bit sick after eating last night - it was a fairly rich duck liver ragu though, and probably the richest thing I've eaten since starting with MJ. I've mostly been eating plainer foods, so maybe I'll stick with that.

Second, I'm feeling a bit hungry since my first jab last Wednesday, so maybe the effect is wearing off a bit. Only tomorrow to get through though until I can inject again. I also went for my first run since MJ this morning, so maybe that was a factor.

Also, the evenings are usually my worst times for snacking, and I DID have a few little nibbly things last night. I think basically the food noise is breaking through periodically, so I need to be conscious of that.

BrownJenkins · 28/10/2024 14:06

Did my first injection last Wednesday (23rd). Apart from being constipated I haven't have any side effects. I've eaten sensibly and only nibbled a little in the evenings. Today however, I could chomp the rear end of a passing Rhino. I'm not hungry, just craving snacks all the time. I think the injection is running very low now. I've tried to keep busy but the biscuits and crisps are calling out to me 😢I just want to keep eating.

I've just emailed medexpress and they say it looks like lost in transit so I wonder what they will do. Hopefully they can send out another pen ASAP..

Hope yours arrives soon

So I started Mounjaro on 22nd October and am due my 2nd injection today.
I had a dry mouth for the first few days and the occasional headache. No constipation or upset stomach. My appetite has been non existent, although it made a breakthrough yesterday afternoon!. I have just weighed myself and lost 5.5lbs - very pleased and feeling positive.
I purchased online but went to my local chemist for a Flu Jab and he said he will match the online price and offer me free consultations and advice should I choose to go through him instead (which I may do as its 5 minutes away). He also said he has seen many successful results from Mounjaro and that it definitely works. He advised me that quite a few of his customers continue to lose weight on 2.5mg and never up their dose to 5mg and beyond. He also advised eating healthily, introducing regular exercise and taking a daily multivitamin. Just thought I would share 😊

rockingbird · 29/10/2024 07:07

Day 4 week 1. Raging headache, thirsty all the time and feeling quite queasy so struggling to eat at all. I hope this calms down because I'm not enjoying it 🥴 To be fair I had a terrible day yesterday, I'm determined today will be more productive and focused.

Selkie9 · 29/10/2024 08:17

Going to jump on this thread as my first pen is arriving today - I'm really excited and ready for some positive change in my life. Starting weight is 84.5kg (13 stone 3) and I'm looking to lose about 15kg (2 and a half stone).

I have been putting off starting medication for months, thinking it was too expensive. But if it works well and I'm not indulging in junk food, snacks and wine etc I really won't be spending much more. Chocolate and wine are my vices!

I tried Mysimba tablets earlier in the year for 2 months but they did absolutely nothing. I actually gained a little bit of weight. Mysimba was only about £50 cheaper per month

imanidiotsandwich · 29/10/2024 10:25

I don't think it's working for me!
First jab Sunday and I'm still hungry and thinking about food

ToriMJ · 29/10/2024 21:39

I restarted on Saturday, so far so good. Good luck everyone.

HappyPoster · 29/10/2024 22:20

Room for a not so small one?

My first pen arrived in today's post and planning on taking it tomorrow after work. I have been creeping on the October starters threads but would love to talk to others at the same stage as me on this journey.

I've lost weight in the past with SW but my biggest weakness is portion control and food noise combined with very little willpower.

Excited to get started 😊

rockingbird · 30/10/2024 05:30

Day 5 of week 1 I've stepped on the scales this morning .. should have waited but needed to know!! 4lb down already 😮

redavocado · 30/10/2024 06:46

So glad to find a November starters thread! Voy approved me yesterday so I'm hoping the pen arrives tomorrow. I'll then jab after trick or treating with DD.

I've been a yoyo dieter for years but my weight has been steadily on the up since covid. I think it's mostly down to non-stop grazing so I'm excited by reports that this stops the food noise.

Give it time, it's very early days for you yet.
Not everyone feels the effects immediately, 2.5mg is a low dose to get your body used to the drug.
With each dose you take the drug will build up in your body and you will get there with it.
I know it's hard when there are others who get instant suppression but try not to worry too much just yet.

Bisognodelsole · 30/10/2024 07:41

Did my first injection last night. Went with Voy and feeling fine so far. My issues are snacking and cravings - eat rubbish when bored, stressed, tired, as a reward (the list goes on). Hoping this removes the ‘food noise’ as I’d like to lose around 4 stones. Good luck everyone

This sounds so familiar! Good luck!!

I’m due to inject again today (I’ll do it tonight when the kids are in bed) but I weighed myself this morning and I’m 5lb down and it’s been easy. Yesterday me and DH went shopping for DS1s birthday presents and he wanted to get breakfast out. I had a bacon and egg muffin and hash brown and a latte and didn’t feel hungry to eat again until dinner (salmon and leek risotto) and I ate a much smaller portion than I usually would.
