Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Just the first with most of the codes, it's why lots of people switch suppliers, I've switched and shall switch again for my next one.. but will be looking at somewhere with maintenance once I get to BMI 30, just incase .

suka · 25/10/2024 11:58

I just went to do my first jab and I'm so scared!
I need to drive for 8 hours and have quite an active/physical day at work tomorrow, is today a good day to do it or not?

Good Luck to everyone getting started. There are so many weight loss injection threads on the board now that you might not have noticed the main one which is called 'Continuing Mounjaro 22'. At the beginning of each of this thread is a post by @Jimmyneutronsforehead which has a link to a lot of info compiled by the posters who started Mounjaro when it first came out. I just posted on it so it should be near the top of the weight loss injection board (for an hour or so!) It might help with questions.

Or feel free to ask on any of the other threads for monthly starters. There is one for Feb to April starters who are now at or near the end of their Mounjaro journeys and I think one for every month after that.

@ElinorDashwood68 what everyone is eating depends on their size and the level of suppression they are getting. If you are feeling some suppression already and can eat smaller portions of healthy food you will likely be in a calorie deficit and will lose weight.

Try to think of it as you are simply on a diet (except this time you have the support of Mounjaro to help you succeed). And, just like on a normal diet you should feel hungry. Hunger on Mounjaro is completely normal - the goal isn't to completely kill your appetite so you can't eat. You want to be on a dose which lets you eat enough to keep your energy up so you can live your life but suppresses your appetite enough that you can regularly eat a calorie deficit and lose weight. For some people that is 2.5mg (or even less) and they stay on that the whole time. For others who are less sensitive to it they go up through the doses to 15mg. Listen to how your body is reacting to Mounjaro and then choose whether to go up a dose for the next pen or stay on the same dose. Good luck again.

This is so helpful - thanks Choux!

Is anyone taking supplements alongside Mounjaro? I’m taking a probiotic and just started taking ‘Gold Collagen’ which I’ve ummed and ahhed about for months but thought I’d give it a go. I should take a vit C and Zinc but often forget.

I take a few supplements so I will carry on as normal - iron, and vit c as I'm low iron plus magnesium and collagen and a peri meno supplement.

BrownJenkins · 25/10/2024 12:17

@suka It's up to you.
I did mine at lunchtime on Wednesday and then kept busy. To be honest, I didn't want to drive as I had no idea how I'd feel. It's fear of the unknown.

Rosie2024 · 25/10/2024 12:19

Hi everyone. I’m going to take my first injection on Monday evening when I finish work. I work Saturdays, Sundays and Monday evenings so having the 4 days off gives me a chance to get over any side effects before working at the weekend.

I want to lose around 4 stone. I’m just under 16 stone at 5 foot 6. It won’t be a perfect BMI but as I’m 52 I’m mindful losing too much will age me perhaps.

Here’s hoping for great results for us all ❤️ Looking forward to seeing how we all get on.

suka · 25/10/2024 12:25

I've just done it! I'm busy next week too so I think I could be waiting forever to begin. I'll take jelly beans incase I feel flaky driving!

The injection didn't even feel like an injection, it felt like I was pretending!

Ok, first step done, going to busy myself now so I'm not thinking about it!

PostpartumMama · 25/10/2024 12:39

@suka I felt the same. There was no we 'jag' feeling. It was really weird.

Is everyone doing exercise as well? I have 2 young kids so find it hard fitting it all in. Has anyone lost weight whilst not exercising?

BrownJenkins · 25/10/2024 13:00

@suka Well done!

@Rosie2024 That sounds like a good idea. I was the same, didn't want to risk side effects whilst out and about. I haven't actually had any effects yet.
So looking forward to losing weight, don't care if it ages me, I'm already old and wrinkly 😂I just want to be a size 14 again.

yarnbarn · 25/10/2024 13:06

I'm joining!

Plan to order on Monday and get organised food wise so I can start around the weekend.

Mrsredlipstick · 25/10/2024 13:28

Thank you all for the advice on this thread . Unfortunately I can't have mounjaro due to methotrexate. VOY have offered me Wegovy which I believe has more side effects.

Scarlettpixie · 25/10/2024 13:58

Hi everyone. Can I join you? I have been researching for a few days and ordered my started kit this morning from IQ Doctor. I am planning to do my first jab on Thursday evening as I am off work on Friday and in case I feel nauseous. I have ordered ginger tea, lozenges and kombucha just in case! I might be too impatient to get started when my pen arrives so we’ll see 😀

i am 52 and have over 5 stones to loose. I am the heaviest I have ever been. After weighing in today my BMI was 36.8. I will weigh in on Friday morning for my official start weight.

i do walk the dog but am not very fit/flexible and have neck and shoulder pain and bad knees, I am planning to start some resistance training so that I don’t loose muscle mass. I should be doing it anyway apparently at my age! Anyone else planning to up the exercise? I have just ordered some dumb bells.

I have been looking ahead to set mini goals. Half a stone a month would do nicely. My first goal will be a stone by Christmas. My long term goal is to be a healthy weight inside of 12 months.

i was initially put off by the cost but it will be worth the money if I it works. I am hoping that in loosing weight I will loose some of my joint pain, have more energy, more mobility and to reduce some of the health risks that come with bring obese. i have tried everything over the years but only ever loose a stone or stone and a half and then it creeps back on with more besides.

I am looking forward to following along with you.

BrownJenkins · 25/10/2024 14:14

@Mrsredlipstick I have a couple of friends who are on Wegovy. So far only 1 had mild nausea, the other hasn't had any side effects.
Both have lost a couple of stone since July and look fabulous.

Mrsredlipstick · 25/10/2024 16:04

@BrownJenkins thank you.
I have done a bit more research and wegovy does reduce inflammation which is why I wanted the wl meds (plus my last four stone off). Hopefully I won't get sickness, I'll try it for a month.

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 25/10/2024 21:47

Great to hear others have started and minimal side effects, crossing my fingers will be the same for me, but zero plans for the next few days now that first jab done just in case, starting weight and measurements are recorded. Oh how blind I’ve been to my expanding body, no much wonder everything is so tight and uncomfortable! Will take starting photos tomorrow morning and plan to do this every month or two to track the changes. I know I’ll hate them but the stark reality will keep me motivated hopefully.

rockingbird · 26/10/2024 07:33

Good morning, my pen arrived last Friday and is still sitting in the fridge 🙈 I'm trying to build up the courage to do it this morning..

bananasplice · 26/10/2024 07:58

Morning, doing my first injection today, I waited for half term so it would be an easier week if I felt rough. Just summoning up the courage to do it, I think I am overthinking it now!

rockingbird · 26/10/2024 08:04

I've just done mine and it was easier than expected!! I was very nervous and have been overthinking it since the day it arrived. It's done now, I'll see how my day pans out 🙈

LauraB74 · 26/10/2024 08:17

I ordered using medexpress and they sent out the same day which is amazing. Hopefully it will arrive on Monday and I can get started.

If anyone is ordering via med express this is a £40 off your first order code.

@rockingbird just done mine as well, so easy to do, not sure why I made such a big deal about it.

I will keep you all posted how I feel!

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 26/10/2024 09:07

Does anyone know how I get a code to give people from MedExpress? I wasn’t entirely happy with their shipping but can’t really be arsed to change supplier at the moment if I can get the price down.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 26/10/2024 09:09

I’m on W1D4 today. I can’t say I feel much different. I still feel hungry but I’d say it’s like it’s had the corners knocked off. I could wait more easily. I have had a bit of a dry mouth but that’s the only side effect and it’s mild.

No problem. Can you please give me the link for the referral post. Medexpress sent mine out the same day so your issue may have been a one off. Mind you now I've got to rely on royal mail to deliver it which may take some time.
