November Mounjaro Starters

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Are those who have begun tracking calories or waiting a little while?

BrownJenkins · 24/10/2024 08:58

@Nowthereistwo Thank you. I really hope it works too.
Haven't noticed any changes yet, probably too early to tell.
So far no side effects, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Jabtastic · 24/10/2024 09:04

I slept well at least without any overnight side effects. The real test will come once I eat later on!

BleachedJumper · 24/10/2024 09:08

Hi all, hoping to join you. My first pen should be arriving within two days, I haven’t decided yet which day I’ll start.

I managed to lose 6 stone about 4 years ago, but work stress and socialising a lot/moving in with partner has seen me put 2 stone back on over the the last year and a half. Plus, I’m basically addicted to food and use it as a cover for when I’m tired/comfort.

ideally, I have 2.5/3stone to lose, but haven’t quite decided what my goal is yet. I’m very aware that I can easily put weight on, and I need to nip this in the bud now and not get to my heaviest again, which is very much the direction I’ve been heading in lately.

Also in a rather shallow way, Christmas and a January holiday are approaching, and I don’t want to be miserable and unhappy for these events. I’m really excited about the food noise being minimised!

Ive always struggled with my weight, and have a diabetic/overweight mother who I don’t want to follow in the footsteps of if I can help it.

For others starting now, have you told people?

Kialla · 24/10/2024 10:17

Had a tracking update so hoping my prescription will be here this afternoon. I'm going to take it immediately before I think about it too much. I had to take insulin when pregnant so I'm not too worried about the physical process!

I know how to lose weight. My actual meals are healthy (calorie controlled, high protein) and I exercise enough that I should lose weight. But I'll do all of that and don't lose weight then the emotional binge eating, cravings, food as a reward, food as a comfort behaviours start to creep in.

I'm really looking forward to the food noise reducing, I think that will be what makes the difference.

LauraB74 · 24/10/2024 11:12

I've bitten the bullet and ordered. I'm so nervous to start. I lost loads of weight with slimming world years ago but after chemo, lockdown and then an ankle replacement it all went back on and now I've hit my 50s and menopause it just seems impossible to lose weight without a bit of help.

So I'd love the support of others in the same boat.

Mrsredlipstick · 24/10/2024 11:17

I've just changed my order to VOY. Very quick but very thorough. They would not process my order without a full faced photo. Let's see how long it takes to come

PostpartumMama · 24/10/2024 12:00

Hi can I join you all. My injections are being delivered today. I am dead nervous about it. I had awful bad nausea during pregnancy and I don't want to have that again. But my weight is just creeping up and I need it off🥴 Also excited too. Ahh such a mix of feelings👏🏿

I'm really happy with Voy - they processed my order within two hours and delivered the following day. The app makes it really easy as well with photo etc.

It was my first shot yesterday, I slept really well, no side effects so far that I've noticed anyway. I actually feel really focused and energized, but that could be unrelated!

ToriMJ · 24/10/2024 12:26

I'm now restarting.
Did a month before the summer and lost a stone.
Now going to restart and hope to be somewhere close to target by Xmas.
I've used Voy both times and found them good. I end my subscription after the first month then they email discount codes to repurchase so keeps the cost down. My code if anyone looking for a discount

I'm starting again on the lowest dose as I found it worked really well for me. I could barely eat by week 4 with the cumulative effect so hoping it's as effective again this time.

I really worried about this too - I had HG and everytime I feel even slightly sick, it takes me right back and affects me mentally. I become convinced I'll feel sick forever.

Ive got a couple of friends using Mounjaro and they've both said they have no nausea at all so I'm hoping I'll get lucky.

suka · 24/10/2024 12:41

My first pen arrived just now. I feel very mixed emotions about it.

I've also got some pretty intense work coming up tomorrow and Saturday so I'm not sure if I should hold off till Sunday, but then I've read that taking it before the weekend is a good idea as it's when temptation is highest.

CallyCC · 24/10/2024 12:55

Can I join please? I had my first Mounjaro injection yesterday, not sure I've felt any effects so far but I have got a cold so feeling a bit odd anyhow. I weighed myself, have put on 6 pounds since I last weighed myself in May. Aiming to lose about 3 stone, will see how it goes.

Jabtastic · 24/10/2024 13:00

I haven't eaten yet today as I had to go out this morning. I'll eat sensibly and hope the burps and nausea stay gone!

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 24/10/2024 13:12

I took my first jab last night and Haney really felt any different yet. I didn’t have any breakfast (although that’s not unusual) and have just had some leftover pasta bake for lunch. I did a normal portion and ate it easily.

I read that injecting into the thigh reduces the possibility of nausea? No idea if it's true! I did do my thigh (first jab yesterday) and no nausea at all so far.

Good luck!

Just eaten a small tin of Mackerel with 1 slice of bread and butter. Not feeling hungry, just know I have to eat something. I'm also drinking lots of water.
No side effects, yet.
The real test will be in the evenings, that's when the munchies attack and my will power scarpers.

StarShapedWindow · 24/10/2024 13:53

@BleachedJumper I’ve only told my husband and best friend. I’ve got a 12 year old DD and a 16 yr old DS so didn’t want them knowing, neither of them think about food or weight much so wanted to keep it that way.

Jabtastic · 24/10/2024 14:00

I just had porridge with chopped apple and strawberries. I ate it slowly but definitely pushed past the point where I could have stopped. I really want to make sure I eat enough and I don't want constipation.

Same same Grin I can go most of the day eating very little anyway, but the evenings? Ugh. And I'm a night owl, so double ugh.

I’ve been weeing loads today- has anyone found this?

Nowthereistwo · 24/10/2024 14:58

My pen is coming tomorrow so might just crack on with it rather than waiting for my birthday next week.

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair I too am peeing for England. I think it's because I'm drinking water like it's going out of fashion. We need to stay hydrated, plus, I really don't want to be constipated.
