@inneedofaglowup I have had nearly 6 months of feeling like this and I've lost three stone! It only has a shift by .1 kg at a time which seems really unusual. I have definitely had two or three weeks at a time would know loss and then it starts to shift again. Just keep thinking it will happen, it will happen!

Wow 3 stone in 6 months is amazing!!! Yes I think even though the wins are small added up they do become quite a significant number once you look back, but keep consistent and going forward!

I agree, I'm over 7 months into this and almost 4st down. But if you look at the stats I posted a couple of days ago there were months where I only lost a few pounds. All of a sudden it seemed to add up.
Basically my losses balance out around half a stone a month. Which is around 1.5 a week and for someone responding so well, fairly active and high starting weight that's not huge losses. However the difference with this is its consistent with no "falling off the wagon" and eventually all those losses add up to a lot.

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/11/2024 12:28

I've lost nearly 3 stone in nearly 4 months.

The main difference with previous attempts to lose weight is now would have been the time I would give up with exhaustion - I'd be over the months of feelings of depravation, of the energy required, of giving all my attention & focus to the "weight loss" process, to the screaming "food noise" in my head. I'd be feeling good with my 16kg loss, and want to relax a bit & move away from all the demands of losing weight.

But on MJ I have none of these feelings. I'm energised.not exhausted. I'm prepared to keep going - I know I am approaching the mid way point through a lenthy process, and I am keeping on keeping on.

Darlinghag · 13/11/2024 15:46

@40coats my loss is like yours too!

and i totally agree about the consistency. My failure has always been managing a week, losing a few lbs and then giving up for a few days, back and forth losing the same half stone.

I am on week 13 with no slip ups - and its been easy to do!! If I haven’t tracked its because its been something out of my control of tracking etc, but I don’t think I have even gone over maintenance once!!

40coats · 13/11/2024 20:42

It's hard to explain isn't it @RobinEllacotStrike @Darlinghag
It's like that initial surge and determination when you start a usual weight loss plan keeps at a constant level instead of coming and going in bursts. A lot of emotion is taken out of it. I remember coming back from my first vacation and seeing a water weigh gain on the scales. My head had those old feelings of defeat but my stomach quickly showed me it wasn't going to join in with the self sabotage so I had no choice but to carry on.
It was a massive release!

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 13/11/2024 20:51

I'm really chuffed : I lost my first stone on day 2 of my 5th dose @2.5!! I can't quite believe it!

I was in a mad panic to get out of the door this morning and had to rush breakfast, except I simply couldn't eat it quickly. Usually, if I had to, I'd be able to rush it down in a 'food is fuel' sort of mindset. Not a chance today. I know I'm not eating much but it was really quite a suprise not to be able to get on with it when I needed to

PrincessPeache · 14/11/2024 08:32

These have shocked me this morning. 79lbs down, another 55lbs to go, but it’s finally trally
bloody noticeable!

You must look so different. Well done

Snozzlemaid · 14/11/2024 08:39

That's amazing @PrincessPeache
What a difference!

After almost 6 months I appear to be experiencing my first not so great side effects this morning.
Took my third 10mg dose yesterday and have had to visit the toilet three times already this morning. Feeling a little queasy too so will be upping the fluid intake today and watching what I eat very carefully.

NewbieMJ · 14/11/2024 09:47

That's absolutely amazing @PrincessPeache So Inspiring to see those images!

You motivated me to go look at my actual numbers in proper detail. I have always said I'd like to be around 160 lbs, so that is 103 I needed to lose overall. I have lost 24 pounds, so I have what you have just lost, to go (exactly 79 lbs).

I am back in the groove with 7.5mg, and was a bit disheartened that I was plateauing for weeks at a time, then 1 lb off kind of thing, but in 10 weeks, 24 pounds is an average of 2.4 lbs a week which is bloody brilliant. More than happy with that. I need to follow my own advice - just record the losses and look at the bigger picture.

To think I am actually nearly a quarter of the way there is fantastico. Just over 3 times what I have done already is achievable.

This is the first time I am confident that I can get to a healthy weight. My energy levels are really high - sleeping great and enjoying being physically fitter. So glad I happened upon MJ and found you lovely lot on this thread. Thank you.

SW: 163 lbs (18 stone 11)
CW: 139 lbs (17 stone 1)
Still to lose: 79 lbs
GW: 160 lbs (11 stone 6)

Clothes shopping is really frustrating right now!!!

I don’t know my style; or my sizes. My body has changed shape so much what suited me before (or just suitably covered me up!!) doesn’t suit me now.

Have an event this weekend and all I have is shoes!

Its rare to send back loads because its too big or doesn’t suit! But another NSV - I am wearing a size 16 tshirt! Now, caveat, its oversized but I am taking the win!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/11/2024 14:16

Ah clothes!!

I had beeing hanging onto some lovely pieces that were too small - for ages, years! Mostly dresses and new swimsuits.

A few months ago a friend was doing a charity clothes swap, and I gave everything to her. I decided I was going to be fat forever now and I'd never fit them and it would be silly to hang onto them any longer.

Of course I would be fitting those lovely dresses and swimsuits now.

I'm trying not to buy anything new - just tuffing it out for as long as possible, I have ordered a dress for my work Xmas party but it wont arrive for a couple of weeks. I preordered an 18 so if it doesnt fit I will be having a big scramble for a party dress. I might make a back up dress this weekend

In other clothing news I still have a lovely top and camo pants that I wore to glastonbury in 1996. I'd love to get back into those in the spring & maybe even wear the outfit to a festival next summer.

peonym · 14/11/2024 15:50

I too am struggling with shopping! A lot of my stuff is too big, but I am reluctant to buy in current size as would hope to drop another 2-3 dress sizes. Oh the joy!

RobinEllacotStrike · 14/11/2024 16:21

@Darlinghag try posting in Style & Beauty for some help in finding something?

Snozzlemaid · 14/11/2024 17:28

I'm afraid I succumbed to buying a few bits from SHEIN to tide me over. My winter clothes from last year are hanging off me. Well my tops are. Trousers mostly are not too bad just yet as I've still got a flabby belly.
I didn't want to spend lots on clothes that will be too big soon, so for now I've bought cheap.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/11/2024 17:29

I know what you mean about being reluctant to spend money as we will hopefully drop more sizes.

I went to the extreme of boiling 3 pairs of denims that have expanded as I have expanded over the last couple of years but are now too loose, then washing on the hottest wash, then tumble drying and it has tightened them up a bit. Not sure if the fabric will "relax" again but it was worth a try!

Tried the same with some cotton t-shirts but it didn't seem to make a difference with them.

I did exactly that over the summer - massive house move and had a major declutter - I got rid of 70% of my clothes. It felt so cathartic at the time, but I did part with many classics that I would have so loved to have slimmed into.

I have now tackled it by buying 2 pairs of knee high boots, invested in some tights that fit - yay (I bloody love tights, but for so long tights didn't love me), got out my summer maxi dresses and now wearing them for the winter with long cardigans, tights and boots. They are loose but look great and so comfy. I reckon they will do me over the winter. My jeggings are a tad baggy, but still wearable. Leggings are good to go. So, my winter wardrobe is OK. Not sure about occasion dresses. Have a couple that were fairly clingy, so expect they will look loads better come December.

Just think, summer 25 is going to be wonderful for us all getting into whatever we damn well please. What a wonderful thought that is!

Higglepigglewiggle · 14/11/2024 19:05

Hello!
Can I join please?
I am on Wegovy and have lost 26kg over the last year. Generally been slow but consistent, peri menopause not helping!

not lost anything in about 90 days now, also haven’t gained though, so I'm quite happy. I am considering changing to Mounjaro though. Has anyone done this and found it made a difference?

mydogisacloud · 15/11/2024 06:28

First weigh in today!

Took my first mounjaro on Sunday. Not quite a week in, but Fridays are my weigh days...

This is exactly what I am doing too - though my dresses have long sleeves so I probably wouldn't call them summer dresses. I'm quite enjoying dressing like this too. I like the layers!

In fitness news I've been going to hot yoga all week - today we did shoulder stand and I was thinking no way I can do that ( I have in the past but not for many years). I planned on taking the beginner option, and the next thing you know I was in an amazing shoulder stand, feeling strong, and my boobs werent trying to sufffocate me. So that was lovely!

It feels amazing making such progress on the physical reclaimation of my body & I am enjoying the building srength.

40coats · 15/11/2024 11:19

Clothes is a conundrum here too. For you guys who gave away old small stuff I think even if you kept it you'd find a lot of it had dated or was more worn than you remembered. That's what happened with me anyway last time I dropped a lot of weight.

I love buying clothes and to be honest haven't really slowed down as much as I should while losing weight. A lot of my wardrobe fitted me for the first 3 stone dropped but the last one has me removing things that are just too big.
I've found with newer tops I've bought they're just not flattering any more as I've lost a lot of fat from my top half. I'm pear/hourglass shaped and with my emerging defined waist I look like a barrel in tops designed for apple shapes as I am thick of thigh😆
I think I've enough flattering stuff to see me over the winter. I'm loath to buy anything else as its annoyed me to see a fair bit of what I bought in the last 3 months make me look shapeless. If I do make purchases I'll need to put more thought into them.

Isn't it a good complaint we have though, would we even have thought we'd be discussing our clothes getting too big?

SilenceInside · 15/11/2024 11:29

Another Friday weigh in for me today, as I start week 20 on Mounjaro.

Current stats:

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 106kg (16st 9 lbs)
GW: 100kg (15st 11 lbs) third interim goal.

I've bounced back from a slight gain last week, and had a bit of a whoosh down again losing almost 2kg this week. The gain last week was probably time of the month related, which is worth remembering as I continue on. I'm still on 7.5mg, having done 8 weeks on it so far, and it's still working well for me. Feel like I'm making good progress towards my third interim goal, it seems like it's almost within reach now!

It's taken a while, but I have seen some change in my clothes size. I was definitely wearing oversized stretchy things at my heaviest and refusing to acknowledge that I was at least a size 24 or probably bigger. Now I'm buying size 20 and it fits easily, and probably more like an 18 on top as I'm pear-shaped.
