yes - it always seems to require every iota of my focus and attention - its exhausting. And the threat of failure (yet again) always looming on the horizon making you feel bad.

MJ seems to do away with all of that - which in itself is a revolution

alwaysscared · 11/11/2024 13:22

Feeling very dejected today again. Lost 0.4lbs this week. In the last 4 weeks I have lost about 4lbs, it just seems so slow. I'm tired and a bit fed up with MJ, I'm still really quite hungry on 4.5mg, even though I have had a few bad side effects. The food noise is still there.
I will go up to 5mg but my doctor has said that I would have to remain on 5mg as this is the dose they use for diabetes (not sure if this is true or not!!)
But if I'm still getting food noise and feeling hungry a lot of the time on 4.5mg, then I can't see 5mg being much different, will probably just bring more side effects.
Here I am being negative again, but being a carer and not working, I have a lot of time at home, just thinking about food.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/11/2024 14:19

Haven't posted in a while as I lost you all after the previous thread.

I've hit my goal of a healthy weight this week!
I started in February at 15st 11lb 8oz and a bmi of 39. I'm now 10st 0lb 6oz which is bmi 24.8. In total I have lost 5st 11lb 2oz which is 36.6% of my body weight.

I honestly didn't think a healthy weight was going to be possible for me when I started and can't believe I got there fairly quickly and easily.

I'm aiming to round it up to a 6st loss but that's as low as I want to go.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 14:48

congratulations @PissedOffNeighbour22 that is amazing!!!

40coats · 11/11/2024 15:01

That's fantastic pissedoffneighbour, I'm delighted for you. You must be very happy.

I've decided to try and enjoy the journey too. I'm now 2 pounds off losing 4st since April, with approx 3.5 to go. From my highest weight I'm over 5st down.
Every other time I've lost weight I've got caught up in how much more I need to lose. I've rarely focused on where I was through the journey compared to where I started. I don't know what the future will hold and I'm terrified of putting this back on yet again but for now I'm choosing to celebrate been the slimmest I've been for around 15 years. Wearing sizes 14&16 or M/L is a big novelty for me and having more energy is amazing!

SilenceInside · 11/11/2024 15:52

@alwaysscared sorry you're feeling a bit dejected today. I know how you feel, I've had a couple of weeks where I've had a small gain and then stayed the same. So not making any downward progress at the moment. I am thinking of it as my body having a pause before it starts the next downwards slope. Even though I'm a bit frustrated!

I was wondering why your doctor says that you have to stay at 5mg? Is this your prescribing doctor or your GP, or someone else?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/11/2024 16:32

@40coats I'm worried about gaining it back but I'm just trying to think that surely it's going to be almost impossible to regain any more than half the weight we've lost.

I could cope with gaining 3st if I can't keep the weight off, but 6st would surely take a long time to regain. Plus I'd be able to go back on MJ if I put more than 2st on anyway as my bmi would be well over 30. That's about as positive as I can be about it 😄

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 11/11/2024 17:45

Hi. I'd love to join you all in the quest to lose 5+ stone.
I was up to almost 16st but managed to get down to 15st 7lb over several months by 14/10, which is the date I began my Mounjaro journey. So I did the four doses from my first 2.5 pen and today I managed to get a fifth dose out of the pen. I have lost 13¾lb in my first four weeks - so, so close to the first stone! Maybe tomorrow!

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/11/2024 21:31

The biggest treat for me is that I feel less like I need to avoid mirrors and I don't always involuntarily wince when I catch sight of my own reflection.

Ha love that!

BM202 · 11/11/2024 18:24

Lovely to read everyone’s progress. Mine seems to keep slowing down. Lost just under 1lb again this week which takes me to 12lb in 6 weeks. This is the point I would normally quit and give up, because I’m trying really hard but it’s not working so what’s the bloody point. However I’ve spent £££ so going to keep going and remember it’s not a race. Just a little disheartening to have spent £300ish to lose a stone…I always thought being heavier made it easier to lose weight if you actually stuck to something!

Currently on 5mg and injecting in my thigh, maybe need to try stomach but worried about side effects going up.

Sorry for the negativity on such a usually uplifting thread.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 18:34

@BM202 if you read back over the threads, we all have had a slow spot or a plateau at one point or another. If you can accept slow patches are part of the process, it may help you feel a bit better.

I've just moved on from a whole month of not really losing anything, and then several kilos in 2 weeks.

Keep going! If we are to get to our destinations we need to be dedicated, resourseful and resiliant.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 18:36

12lb in 6 weeks is great! That is 2lb, just under 1kg, per week. That is a good loss.

Imagine if you weren't doing this you could be 12lb heavier.

WeAllHaveWings · 11/11/2024 19:01

Well done @PissedOffNeighbour22!

Have you thought about what is next? Are you going onto a maintenance plan or coming off and seeing how it goes without it?

What's not working as you've lost a lot of weight already? 6 big bottles of coke in weight in fact.

alwaysscared · 11/11/2024 19:12

@SilenceInside I get it prescribed by my GP for diabetes, and she has said that for diabetes 5mg is the recommended dose?!? Don't know if that is right or not. I'll ask again next time I speak to her, as I have to have an phone appointment for every prescription

I know someone else who gets it through doctor for diabetes and she said 5mg is max dose they will give her. so it may well be true.

But can't hurt asking why?

Lillipops · 11/11/2024 20:00

I started MJ 29th August and so far have lost 2 stone 10lbs. I started off at 23st 7.5lbs so I have a lot to lose, I feel amazing though and wish I could fast forward 6 months to see where I am then. Took first dose of 7.5mg last Wednesday, no side effects other than really tired the day after injection. This has been a game changer for me, I've over the moon with my progress Smile

Arglefraster · 11/11/2024 20:59

Love to read about all your losses (BM202 you included! That's a great loss, I did strict under 1400/day for 6 weeks earlier this year which on paper should have been minimum 1kg/week & I lost .....1.7kg in 6 weeks 😩)

Today (w2d4) was the first day when I just couldn't hit my protein because I really didn't want dinner (mostly because I am so fatigued) so I cheated with protein powder in my yogurt. Still hit my fibre though so pleased about that.

SqueakyDinosaur · 11/11/2024 21:07

I do need to focus more on fibre. Not least because I am also on quite a lot of cocodamol for arthritic pain, and that is also very much a bowel blocker.

Arglefraster · 11/11/2024 21:43

Yikes I don't envy you the cocodamol squeaky I have only taken for infections after wisdom tooth removal & the constipation was ghastly.

I track my fibre & protein via nutracheck (& eat two dates every day 😆)

Orangesandlemons77 · 11/11/2024 21:44

I'm struggling a bit with side effects, mainly nausea after taking my 5mg dose for the first couple of days mainly, also struggling to eat anything but then this seems to wear off mid week.

So I'm going to try splitting the dose and taking 2.5mg every 3 days. Hoping this will help, I will see how it goes!

I'm also on co-codomol so I understand what you mean about that.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/11/2024 02:27

@WeAllHaveWings thanks. I'm aiming to reduce down from 10mg to 7.5mg soon then keep tapering down. I'm aiming to go cold turkey after my remaining pens run out rather than having to pay for maintenance, but I'll have to see how it goes.

@BM202 I would try injecting in stomach as that's the most effective place according to what I've read in the past. It's still a good loss, and way more than you would have lost if you were trying to do it without the medication.

40coats · 12/11/2024 06:34

I'm on ozempic a few days over 7 months, I'll do a little update of my monthly losses to show it does all add up.
Started at 18st exactly. Weight at 7 month point 14st 3.. 5ft 6in. I started on .5 as the .25 pen wasn't available. I stayed on that does two months and worked my way to 1mg over the next 2/3 months.
I've skipped my dose twice while on vacation. Not particularly for food reasons but because I am pretty tired and can be nauseous and constipated for the first few days of taking it.
Month 1- 14.4 pounds
Months 2 - 3.2 had a weeks break while on holiday.
Month3 -4.6
Month 4 - 9.2
Month5 -6.8 another weeks break for holiday.
Month6 -5
Month 7 -9.6
Total 52.8

WafflingDreamer · 12/11/2024 07:21

Timetofindme · 12/11/2024 08:01

TMI below - sorry!

I'm trying to figure out if the last 2 days has been a side effect or stomach bug. I'm thinking/ hoping stomach bug! Apologies for the tmi but I basically haven't been able to leave the house and have barely got off the loo, I've also been quite shivery and exhausted (although that could come from not eating for 2 days!).

Im on my 2nd 5mg pen (and used a bonus dose from my first) and I've not had any side effects of this type til now - more the opposite actually. I injected Wednesday evening and this started overnight on Saturday although I was feeling pretty ropey Saturday afternoon. Ive woken up feeling ok this morning and am trying to get myself rehydrated.

Im due to inject again tomorrow evening and a bit apprehensive now! I'm thinking stomach bug is more likely but thought I'd check in with some of you lovely people who are on this journey or have been on it longer than me and see what you think.
