Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

What is the biotin for?
You mentioned the magnesium helps with hormone regulation - what does that mean? Like does MJ disregulate hormones?

Sorry for so many questions. I so far have collagen supplements on my list as I am nervous about loose skin.

I take magnesium too for sleep (have done for several months) menopause has really effected that and magnesium is supposed to help calm, aide sleep, help with fatigue and is good for muscles and nerves I think too. Ashwaganda is another I take to side sleep. Joke is I’ve had worse sleep with MJ and not sure any of the above help but keep taking anyway! Apparently In clinical studies apparently there is some evidence that MJ can effect menstrual cycle but these are far from widespread side effects.

doodlydooo · 12/10/2024 00:03

Thank you@envbeckyc that was such a helpful reply, and I will research everything you mentioned and update my supplements/vitamins accordingly.

Also, I just took my very first dose. Feeling hopeful (and a little nervous 😅)

Thank you! That's really helpful. I hope your sleep improves soon 🤞

Just be careful with the ashwaghanda on MJ as I remember reading somewhere about it badly interacting and affecting blood sugars, I used to take ashwaghanda religiously last year it was so good but then realised it was flaring my pcos!

Shudacudawuda · 12/10/2024 06:14

Second jab last night, first weigh in this morning and have lost 5lbs. Very happy with that!
The first jab had definitely worn off by yesterday evening, I wanted to eat all the bad stuff 😫. Really made me realise just how much it has helped me this week, I had been so in control all week, but it was like a switch flipped at about lunchtime and all I could think about was what to have for dinner after a week of very little interest in food.
Also not sleeping brilliantly, although I'm not a great sleeper anyway. Not had many other side affects so far though.

hopeishere · 12/10/2024 07:20

I've not told anyone. DH would just not be able to keep it secret!!

I'm assuming whoever you order from email before you are due a second pen? They don't just send it?

Thank you so much for that information. I will look into it further. Definitely don’t want to be reducing blood sugars beyond what MJ will
be doing.

Gr3atEscape · 12/10/2024 08:10

I have told some people that I was thinking about it but not that I have done it. Anybody who truly knows me will know that once I talk about doing something, I usually follow through!
Morning after taking the jab yesterday and it is very subtle but definitely must be taking effect as I had dinner at 5pm yesterday and wasn't ravenous for breakfast. Also just had a small breakfast and whilst I don't feel full or stuffed, I'm not necessarily interested in more.

Theonewhogotaway · 12/10/2024 08:14

Morning all, first jab done today, it’s way easier than it looks.

accountability.

14.12.5 on the scales today.
5ft 7

want to lose 5 stone.

bloody hell.

and I’ve all the problems, high blood pressure, sleep apnea. So hopefully this helps me lose the weight and get healthy and off the meds.

my husband and daughter know. But I don’t wish anyone else too. I guess for fear of being judged.

Bee16 · 12/10/2024 08:19

Hi all, can I join you? My order is arriving this afternoon so I'm planning on doing my first injection tonight. I can't wait to get started, I've been reading everyone's success stories for weeks and I really hope it works for me 🤞🏻

Not planning on telling anyone apart from DH.

SW: 16 stone 2
GW: 10 stone

BlanketRose · 12/10/2024 08:26

I'm struggling to keep up with the thread but jab 2 for me today and weighing in 5lb less than last week - so pleased!

Like others, I feel like it's giving me the boost I needed to just get on with it. I'm sort of calorie counting but my appetite isn't there which is great.

Hopefully no side effects this week either as have plans all weekend!

Well done everyone. We've got this!

Ti2024 · 12/10/2024 08:27

What kind of magnesium is everyone taking? And does it help with a poo, because the constipation is real 😂

EVK · 12/10/2024 08:33

I haven’t told anyone and it’s basically because I don’t want to be judged and I know some of my friends would either question why I can’t just do it myself or say the risks aren’t worth it. Same with my wider family. My husband saw the package and put it in the fridge for me but didn’t ask what it was 😂 He’s been busy at work and just had a bereavement in the family so mind elsewhere. I don’t think he’d judge and would be supportive but he does have a way of letting things slip!
I’m about to do my second jab.
Feeling ready for my breakfast but don’t mind that hungry feeling (it comes and goes not troubling ) what’s been a revelation is the lack of cravings for sweet, junk food, wine (I’ve not drunk in over a week, usually hanging out for a red wine on Friday night - didn’t even think about it!) and not even binge watching tv😂 incredible and makes me really think.

I’ve lost 3lbs - not a huge loss (I was slightly disappointed as thought I might lose more) but then I was finding it hard to lose anything at all for months at a time so this is great. Mustn’t compare myself to those of you who have lost a lot more. If I can lose that amount each week it will be amazing. I’m exercising and eating healthily. I loved the 80-20 diet - exercise weight loss analogy someone mentioned - totally agree. It’s the same with many things clothes you wear and don’t wear in your wardrobe! You wear 20% of them 80% of the time !
Happy weekend everyone 😊 Goid luck to all the new starters 🙌🏻

Psyllium husk is supposed to help with constipation. I took one after my first jab this morning, but you need to take it with a big glass of water, or it can have the opposite effect.

Ti2024 · 12/10/2024 08:42

@Theonewhogotaway - thanks! Going to order some and give that a try x

EVK · 12/10/2024 08:44

Update ! Got back on the scales and I’ve lost 4lbs! Maybe I need some new scales 😂 either way happy

NearlyNewHip · 12/10/2024 08:57

Excited for my journey to begin!! Did my first jab last night, woke up with a headache and a very very slight sicky feeling (sort of like having a few drinks or a big, rich meal the night before). Have been following the thread so have electrolyte fizzy tablet things to drink.

Have told two good friends, who are also considering MJ, so I'm their guinea pig lol. Live on my own so no one else to tell. Dad and sisters are fine with me taking it, they just think I'm mad because of the cost. But hey, if a fairy godmother swooped down and said give me £2500 and I'll make you slim, think most long term fat battlers would take that deal if they could raise the money.....at least we have a monthly payment plan of sorts 😂

PolaDeVeboise · 12/10/2024 09:06

I mentioned this last week, but does anyone else feel a bit 'detached' from everything? I'm in 2.5, and luckily had suppression from the off, but I also feel a bit 'doped up' - can anyone relate?

That's not a symptom I've experienced, but then again I only took my first dose late last night.

So far it's just a very slight headache. No hunger yet, and a feeling of "I don't care about what I'll have" for food whereas usually I'd be very excited about the weekend and going out to eat. I wonder if that is the detached feeling you're feeling?

I had something similar for the first few days after the first 2.5mg - feeling of being ‘zoned out’. Took injection Sunday night and wore off by about Wednesday. Hopefully wears off for you too.

Doghairismyglitter · 12/10/2024 10:05

Morning all - crazy busy week so not had time to post much but still been readings everyone’s updates!

My week has been good;
day 4 suppression seemed to have disappeared and I ate a lot more than anything other day (but still healthy and still low calorie, however it was willpower!) felt despondent that it had seemed to have worn off so quickly, however day 5 & 6 had massive suppression and couldn’t face food, to the point where I nearly fainted at work 🙁 so been forcing myself to eat.

My smoking has more than halved and I was on nearly a bottle of wine a night… I’ve gone through 1 bottle in a WEEK! (A third of a glass topped up with sparkling water has been my max)

Sleeping has been incredible! And getting up before my alarms. So much more energy and only having one morning coffee a day!

weigh in day and my second injection tomorrow 🤞🏼

EVK · 12/10/2024 10:06

Kind of - a little. I wonder if it’s because part of your mind is constantly in the background observing yourself for side effects etc. Could give you a slightly detached feeling. There are recognised effects on mental states in some people.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 12/10/2024 10:07

I’m feeling a bit disheartened today and I don’t know why. I’m only halfway through my second week and I know I’ve been in a calorie deficit everyday so weigh day will be fine I’m sure. I think it’s seeing all the TikTok accounts showing big losses and that feeling totally unachievable. I’m trying to keep telling myself that if it works for all those people it’ll work for me too.
On a brighter note, a slightly unexpected side effect is an increased sense of purpose and get up and go. I don’t know if it’s because the food noise has disappeared so I can focus on other things but I’ve started putting so many plans into place like sorting out clutter in my house. So the house will be lighter at least!

Doghairismyglitter · 12/10/2024 10:08

Also - I suffer from anxiety hugely, but I’ve felt strangely (and very very welcoming) calm this week?! zero panic attacks or anything close. Incredible if this is due to the jab. It could change my life if so.

ItsMintUpNorth · 12/10/2024 10:10

Day 6 for me and the hunger has definitely returned, I woke up with a rumbling tummy! I took it Sunday so that any side effects were hopefully gone by the time I do my office days Weds-Fri but in hindsight this is going to mean it's probably wearing off by the weekend each week.
