Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

I'm also a shorty! I'm really not sure what my target should be as I don't think I have ever felt ok with my weight as an adult. I know that 11 stone made me feel healthier and more energetic but my perception of my size is completely skewed.

I'm 6lb down after my first week so now down to 14 stone. Now to up the ante with the exercise this week to see where I can get to. Does anyone have any recommendations for exercise programmes you've done at home?

Walking! At a decent pace. Honestly in the early stages it's equal to swimming in the way it gets you moving and all the benefits that comes with that without the stress / inflammation on the body that can come with higher intensity exercise - especially if you haven't been doing much.

10k steps a day is a great goal to aim for.

Exercise is so important on a health journey, but I've always gone with the ratio that weight loss is 80/20 diet / exercise.

Same re not knowing what my target weight should be. 11st 9lb would take me to the very, very top of a healthy BMI i.e. 24.9. But I have literally never, ever been that weight at my adult height of 5'8" (although my height used to be 5'9" but I shrunk an inch since breaking back then getting old!).

I got down to 12st 13lb once and felt really good at that weight but I think I am going to aim for 11st 9lb just so I can hopefully say that, for the first time in my life I'm not overweight. It seems so far away and unobtainable at this point in time though!

@Pickled21 I highly recommend Caroline Girvan on YouTube for strength training. She has a beginners series which I did twice before moving on to some of her longer series. I like that I don't have to think, I just pick up my dumbells and do what she tells me!

Also agree with the PP about walking. I used to spend every lunch break walking 5k then eventually started couch25k.

Well done to all the losers! Day three for me, I ‘fast’ on a Thursday, and restrict to 500 calories and usually I really struggle, but I ate one meal yesterday around 6pm, roasted cauliflower with panko breadcrumbs and bulgar wheat with chopped tomatoes, couldn’t finish it all which took me by surprise. Went to bed hungry though, I think it was because I went to bed a lot later than usual due to being distracted by the beautiful northern lights!
woke up hungry as well, so had Greek yoghurt, grapes, blueberries and strawberries with some honey, it’s now just after 11 and I’m still full which is great, feeling cold again though…

YummyCookie · 11/10/2024 11:18

I’m on the train on the way to London and the train is definitely not helping with the nausea. I will be very glad to get off.

FuckOffGerms · 11/10/2024 07:56

I’m just over 12 hours in and I didn’t want pudding after tea last night, which is very unusual.

I’ve got low level nausea, but nothing that I can’t cope with - it feels very similar to the early stages of pregnancy. Except I ate my way through that, which is why I’m in the state I am now 😂🙈

Just made me realise I have not anything after my dinner at all for 10 days straight now. Unheard of!!!!

Hope the nausea subsided for you!

I've taken my first jab this morning, fingers crossed all goes well. I'm starting at 13 st 6.75 lb so have 3.5 stone to reach the top end of the healthy weight range as I'm not very tall.

I am just 5ft tall too, so weight gain or losses appear more dramatic than for someone who is taller because it’s much more concentrated. I would like to loose 3st to get to the top range of healthy weight!

I worry that being shorter means that I burn less calories than an average height person and that the weigh loss will be slower, but as long as I loose 1lb to 2lbs a week over time it will add up and that the goal will be accomplished in less than a year!

I took my first jab yesterday and generally feel ok, I woke up with a slight headache but have been drinking lots of water this morning to help clear it.

Ti2024 · 11/10/2024 12:30

Hi ladies, joining this a little late, but I just took my first injection yesterday evening. So far, day 1 has been ok with some minor side effects. But I had a horrible experience in the middle of the night - woke up feeling uneasy and had a syncope/almost fainting episode. Has anyone else experienced this? (Hoping it was a random one off as feeling ok today!)

Bakedpumpkin · 11/10/2024 13:03

Well done on people and their loses. I am day 4 and haven’t had any noticeable suppression yet, however as I have been eating I think I am feeling a bit fuller. I usually have half a large dairy milk regularly in evenings and yesterday I had 2 squares and felt it tasted a bit odd.

Re food I am also planning on eating as normal but just no extra snacks or large potions. Eggs for breakfast with avo, rice, veg, lean meat, soups for lunch, fish, pasta, stir fry and reduced processed food.

Bakedpumpkin · 11/10/2024 13:04

Also feeling really cold but not sure if that is a side effect or just the change in season!

StiggyZardust · 11/10/2024 13:16

1st injection this morning. Not feeling hungry yet, feeling a little bit light headed.

LolaLouise · 11/10/2024 13:30

First weigh in

SW 92.1kg
CW 89.4kg
GW 60kg

week 1 -2.7kg (5.9lb)

Im happy, but its been 100% sheer will, no help from the jab, which i know from history i cant maintain for long

UpUpUpU · 11/10/2024 13:43

I am day 3 of my second 2.5mg jab. haven’t had any sick feeling at all, until today.

Been to Costa and had a small cappuccino and flapjack (gluten free so it’s tiny) and only ate half of that. Now feel so sick 🤢

Ah I'm on day 2,I injected less than 24 hours ago ,and I'm still looking for food all bloody day , clearly my expectations are to high .if you are day 4with no suppression,I suppose I can't expect any after 24hours ..
I just thought I'd feel something, even if I felt ill that would be something

Has anyone on here not got a gallbladder...I had removed 25 years ago ,I'm wondering if that could effect things at some point

Me, had it taken out about 3 years ago. 6 weeks in and no problems so far, GP and Nurses had no concerns either.

Has it effected the rate of weight loss ,in comparison to others

EricTheGardener · 11/10/2024 15:21

Did my second jab last night, weigh in this morning = 4.8 lbs lost last week. Was hoping for a bit more if I'm honest, even though I'd normally have been delighted with that loss in a week. Such is the power of reading everyone else's results!

I have PCOS, am on HRT and sertraline, and find it EXTRAORDINARILY difficult to lose weight. I have been on a serious healthy eating kick for a year already, and have only lost 19 pounds in that whole time, and that was mostly all in the first three months. And then I put 7 lbs of that back on during a recent holiday where I ate what I want (and pigged out).

So while I lost close to 5 lbs last week I'm still 2 lbs heavier than I was at the beginning of Sept.

I didn't feel that much suppression last week. A bit maybe, but I was mostly very conscious about eating less, rather than feeling I simply couldn't fit another mouthful in. Yesterday, before I took my second jab, I was properly hungry. And I don't feel much different today either, in terms of suppression. Still feeling optimistic though. Will see what this week brings.

SW on MJ: 16 st 2.4 lbs
CW: 15 st 11.6 lbs
GW: 10 st

Evenstar · 11/10/2024 16:08

Just taken my first jab, thank you so much ladies for all the reassurance and hints. I feel very glad to have made a start on getting to a healthy weight and improving my health.

I had mine out over 25 years ago. I was a bit concerned whether it would effect things but then figured it’s such a common op that thousands of people on Mounjaro must have had their gallbladder removed. Not sure if would make any difference to weight loss, I lost 5lb first week (this is my second). I was hoping for a bit more as I’d hardly eaten anything although when I did eat I did go for some high calorie things as I figured I’d hardly had any calories at all. That was probably a mistake!

Actually yes that's true ,it is very common as an op so lots on mj will of had it

Autumnowl · 11/10/2024 17:11

I just saw a tictok where a lady said she had hers out years ago ,and it stopped her loosing weight, something to do with the fats hanging around ,and then when she started mj the weight is dropping off ...so I was asking in the hope of similar situations

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 11/10/2024 17:12

I had mine out 10 years ago
