Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

Mine’s arrived. We’re out for dinner tonight as it’s DH birthday, I thought I’d take it before bed tonight. Fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow.

I'd wait at least six hours if you've eaten a rich meal. You might get some unwanted gastric side effects if you take it before you've digested it

I'm going to start tomorrow, 1st injection in the morning before work. Decided Fridays would be the best day for me.

I took a photo on my phone and scrolled in ,and there is a tiny puncher mark ..now I'm thinking, gosh I'm so fat I don't even feel a needle go in .

Your last comment did make me chuckle, I didn’t feel it either!

Morning all, just checking in.

I had chocolate yesterday. One Cadbury Rose. ONE.

I don't even know who I am anymore.

Yes someone bought me a box of Lindt balls yesterday and happily just had two and put the box in the cupboard Shock.

Only since last Friday! Weigh in day and injection two tomorrow.

Response varies from person to person and I feel incredibly lucky that it has gone so well so far. I took the first jab 10pm Friday night and had appetite suppression from 12 hours later.

12hours later ,so I should be feeling it by breakfast time .
Currently feeling a bit distant and like when your really over tired and your eyes go a bit ..
I'm praying to God this works,I've so much weight to loose ,I'm on tier 3 with NHS for WLS ,that I don't want ,but will have to have if this doesn't work

RunSlowTalkFast · 10/10/2024 12:45

Just done my second jab, rreeeaaalllly hoping I feel some suppression this week, any would do 😄😭

Will weigh first thing in the morning to see how my first, suppression free, week went!

I hope it kicks in for you this week! It's so easy to say 'I'm sure it will build in coming weeks just be patient' but I know I'd be bloody impatient too Grin

ItsMintUpNorth · 10/10/2024 18:28

Well 4 days down for me and this genuinely couldn't be going any better, minimal side affects and complete hunger suppression but not so much that I can't make myself eat enough calories.

I was hungry in the run up to tea and I'm still a bit hungry now after eating BUT I had no snacks to take to work so all I had eaten was a small portion of risotto for lunch and I've just had some soup. Made sure to have two slices of bread with it and as I'm still hungry I'll have a few protein heavy snacks tonight. So I'm not sure if the suppression is starting to wear off or if I just haven't eaten enough today! I will have to see how I feel tomorrow.

YummyCookie · 10/10/2024 18:37

I did my 2nd jab on Tuesday (2 days early) and I’ve not been feeling great today. I didn’t eat enough yesterday I’ve been quite queasy today and a bit dizzy at times. Lesson learned. DH suggested a Chinese tonight from our favourite place. I’ve had about a quarter of what I usually would and I’m so full. I just don’t fancy it all. Off away for the weekend tomorrow with my sister so I’m glad I took it early this week and I wasn’t away feeling like this. Weigh day tomorrow!

Tohaveandtohold · 10/10/2024 18:40

Lovely to see lots of us doing this together. It’s day 5 for me. I have as much energy as I normally would even though I’ve eaten less and less since Sunday. The suppression is still very much there but I can still eat when I remember to which is very good because it means I’m making good choices as I’m in control. I’ve had to add lots of fruits and veg to my food shopping as there were lots of naughty things at home, i love this so far. My first weigh in will be on Saturday, I plan to do it weekly.

ShineyHappyPeeple · 10/10/2024 18:51

I'm on day 5 and am so much happier! I feel a bit slimmer but I think it'll be a while before there is any noticeable change - the weight is all around my middle.

I realised just how much I thought about food, and that's largely gone. Now I eat when I'm hungry and make better choices when I do. Today was my first work from home day and I am usually rummaging in the cupboards at any given opportunity but I resisted all snacks today.

I am hoping this continues so that I can really reset my relationship with food.

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 10/10/2024 18:57

First jab last night and I'm SO cold and have a headache. I've eaten less that's for sure but I don't think I'm feeling suppression - it's more that I'd decided to go make a go of this, the best I can. Fingers crossed things get better.

Vegemite123 · 10/10/2024 18:58

I’ve just don’t my first injection, and I’m feeling really anxious! Mostly about side effects. I’ve tried to reduce my calories this week (1300 yesterday) in preparation, and I’m hoping that eating sensibly will help me.

doodlydooo · 10/10/2024 18:58

Hello! I've just had my Mounjaro delivered today. I am very excited to start but really want to get it right. I want to make sure I get the most out of this and hoping I make the right food choices and that it ultimately becomes a new chapter in my life.

I had always been active before having DC but it was because I loved food so much. Everything I've ever done has always been governed by food (any walks I took had to be punctuated with pitstops at cafes etc, my travels have always been about food). My birth with DC was a bit tricky meaning I couldn't get mobile for a while. I really piled on the weight. Struggled to get active or eat well and I now sit at a BMI of 40. I don't recognise myself, I can't dress how I always used to, I feel depressed whenever I go out as it reminds me of how bad I've gotten with my weight.

One thing I am nervous about is the certainty that there will be loose skin behind. I am 105kg (16 stones) and only 162cm (5ft 3in) so I am hoping to lose a fair chunk.

I really hope I can join this journey with you all. I've seen some really lovely threads of previous MJers. Wishing you guys all the best on your journeys too! x

UpUpUpU · 10/10/2024 19:12

My second jab last night didn’t bruise like the first.
I ate a late breakfast and then didn’t want lunch. Ate a normal dinner and some melon for pudding and was full. Now feel quite acidy so think I’ve over eaten, although it was half what I’d normally have!

I have been very cold today too and exhausted. I am in a new job so quite a lot going on and had a flu jab this week too.

I now have 4 days off so going to get some exercise in as well as some relaxation.

Bellablahhole · 10/10/2024 19:36

Hello October starters. It's been really helpful to read your posts. Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences so far.

I took my first 2.5mg jab last Thursday and am delighted to see a 7lb loss on the scales today. Suppression was been reasonable over the last week. Not massive, but enough to enable healthy food choices and no snacking. 2nd jab today. I was still nervous prepping and injecting but it was fine. I suppose I'll get used to it over time.

Side effects have been minimal (slight headache, mild joint discomfort and mild stomach ache on injection day). I already suffered from chronic constipation, but 60ml of prune juice and 2 magnesium citrate each day is helping. I also suffer from awful acid reflux, which seems to have improved! So far, so good.

Good luck, everyone!

igivein · 10/10/2024 19:51

I’m 5 days into week one. I know how normal people feel now and it’s so freeing not to be totally obsessed with food- what I’m going to eat next, if I go somewhere what will I eat there, trying to hide how much I eat…
I wish there was a ‘reverse’ injection, to be given to those people who say ‘just eat less and move more’. I don’t mean so that they become obese, just so they could have a week of knowing what it’s like for people like me.
I’ve been battling my weight for most of my life and I could weep at how different things would have been if I’d always felt the way I have this week.
Sorry to sound so maudlin - on a more positive note, I’ve had a really good week - long May it continue! 😊

Did you do it early because you’re away when it should be done? I’m thinking I should have done mine on day 6 not waited the full week as my food noise and hunger has massively come back today and I fell off the wagon - 2 pain au chocolat and Macdonalds nuggets and a flapjack. About to inject dose 2 now. Perhaps next time I will do a day early….just didn’t know if medically this is ok to do

NearlyAutumnNow · 10/10/2024 19:54

@Bellablahhole well done on your loss! I injected last Thursday evening so my weigh in is Friday morning. I had a sneaking look at the scales today and I’m hoping for around 5/6lb but I’m going to see how it is tomorrow as I was NOT eating healthily today!!

With the first jab I really struggled to eat for the first couple of days, so I did it early to get that out of the way before being away. It says you can change day if you need to, as long as it’s been at least 3 days since the last one. I won’t do this every week though, I’ve felt worse today than I did last week.

Sunblocker · 10/10/2024 20:11

Ok, very weird and maybe a placebo effect but injected last night and not hungry at all today. Having a late tea but I’d usually be starving. No biscuits at work, no chocolate cravings. Have had a slight headache and very thirsty today.

Hello and welcome to everyone who has joined. It is so nice to build a little community. I don't know if this is against MN rules but I have set up a little FB group (completely private) mainly to post pictures and keep track. If anyone wants to join, PM me.

What does everyone take in for lunch at work? I make scrambled eggs when I'm home but work lunch is always a big sticking point for me. Any suggestions would be great fully received.

In terms of my first week. As of this morning I'm 8lbs down. My next injection is tomorrow. I've found my food suppression has grown not reduced over the week and it is pretty intense at the moment. No major side effects except for one day of diarrhoea and feeling nauseous

Please could you send me a message with the details? Thanks

NearlyAutumnNow · 10/10/2024 20:51

@YummyCookie thank you I think I will inject a day early next time to avoid falling off the wagon again! Right now I could eat a horse!

Hi. I am on my second week, I took my 2nd injection a day earlier as I wanted to inject on a Sat, in case of any side effects. It’s now Thursday evening and I succumbed to a chocolate tea cake that I haven’t been interested since I started. I think for me the cravings come back a little when I’m a couple days from the next injection.

EdgyPeachPoet · 10/10/2024 22:12

Hi all! This is my first post. Enjoying reading everyone’s experiences. I took first 2.5mg injection Sunday evening. So far feeling tired, cold, with increased thirst. Minimal nausea. Four days in and suppression seems to be wearing off, so looking forward to next dose!

NearlyAutumnNow · 10/10/2024 22:54

@JulesK17 really reassuring that I’m not alone with this as I’ve been sooo good until today - anyway now I’m jabbed up again so I feel mentally ready to push on. Will weigh in tomorrow and see what the status is!
