Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Hi, just injected my first dose this afternoon. I’m 5’3” and 18.5 stone so really need to get my weight under control. I went with MedExpress & it came really quickly. Was weirdly nervous to take the plunge, it feels like such a huge step. I feel really rather clueless about which supplements I should be taking, currently don’t take anything at all. Do people find it’s a necessity?

I started at 18.6 stone.. and 6 weeks in I'm nearly down 2 stone.. was 16.10 last week.. I'm hoping for nearly 16.6 soon.. then that's 2 stone.. hope its Monday weigh in..

It was a Hugh step, I was nervous, now I love it.. its amazing. I've not had chocolate or crisps or anything bad for 6 weeks.. never heard of before. Lol.

That is absolutely incredible @morbidcuriosity! Wow. I think that’s where I’ve become so disheartened in the past. It just took so long to move into the next stone bracket down and seemed an impossible challenge. Hoping this is the total game changer it seems to be!

I hope so.. thank you.. although since my first 5mg dose last week, I seem to be eating more.. the hunger is returning.. I hope the next 5mg will top me up so I get more suppressant.. think I may take it a day early..

Only side effect I've had is a bit of constipation which ain't pleasant but hey ho..

Isn’t it strange that we all felt a bit apprehensive to take the first jab, I think if was a pill there would be no issues. Also feel a bit of a fraud / cheat but it’s not like the fat just melts away, we still need to eat healthy, it’s just easier to choose the healthiest stuff and not feel like eating everything and anything.
I also think that yes it’s a newish drug and so we are worried about the different issues we might have from taking it.
my take on it is that I was happy to have the Covid jabs even though there were many saying about the issues with it also took contraceptive pill for 30 years or so.
So I did my research and decided that I was ok with the risks as they outweighed the negatives.
So far no issues but will keep a sharp eye on it.
Its my 2nd jab tomorrow and 1st weigh in so FX

Snapespeare · 28/09/2024 19:59

Thinking more about food today - porridge with raisins for late breakfast, a boiled egg, a tiny bit of french stick and brie for lunch and some roast chicken breast and a kimchi rice bowl for dinner that I couldn't finish. Ate the chicken, left most of the rice - it's been a bit of a carby day.

Severe stomach cramps (2 senacot last night) and seriously thought I had shat myself coming home from the boot sale this morning, but all was OK. Felt very energetic and cleaned the house, changed the beds, 3 loads of laundry...
Did my measurements - (was thinking of buying a t-shirt, didn't, so wanted to check..

2nd jab due around 9.30 this evening.

I think I read there was a pill in development - that so far tests better than MJ (i.e. more weight loss). I think we're going to see the science in this area move at a real pace now...

At least I hope so.

@ShiftAMountain i am hopefully the science moves fast too. I am only on day three but now really understand food noise. I was an emotional binge eater. For the first time ever this week I have had to remind myself to eat!

I think I will need to be on this for the rest of my life and it’s expensive, so banking on the cost going down.

Although I spend way too much every month on snacks, wine, take aways and coffee. So hopefully will save money overall!

@KitsyWitsy i injected in the evening and woke up next day to full effect - and has been pretty much like that since. Though half way through week 2 and a bit more interested in lunch today . have eaten it but was small serving , sort of 4 tablespoons of curry and rice and i am so stuffed !

I am very interested in people saying they must eat more or they are 'eating their calories'...surely the idea is to retrain ourselves to eat when hungry and small enough portions to be satisfied ?
I have been averaging about 800 calories per day and feel great, losing weight and able to train and run as normal and have bags of energy so why would i force myself to eat more ?

sw 76.2 kgs
cw 69.9 kg
gw ????? maybe 64 ??

I'm a bit nervous of eating too low and making my metabolism slower TBH.
I think in the MJ trials, people followed a 500 calorie deficit, so that's what 'people' recommend.

The way I feel at the moment, I think I could easily get by on 400-500 calories and not be hungry. That just can't be healthy long term - I'd lose significant muscle if I'm not getting enough protein and I need fibre from fruit and veg to keep me regular, and for vitamins etc.

But it does feel odd to eat when not hungry, and I'm not sure how that works with the psychological aspect of training to eat when you are hungry. So I have no idea what is actually for the best. Feeling my way along!

Ozgirl75 · 28/09/2024 23:36

Well woken this morning and apart from feeling really tired (which is my own fault for staying up late to watch a film) I feel fine. But no hunger for breakfast! I wondered what no hunger would feel like, because I feel like in the past I associate lack of hunger with illness but I don’t feel ill, I just feel….neutral.

Anyway, we will see how the day progresses.

I’ll be sure to let you know @Cabinfever20 😊

First dose went in my thigh this afternoon …

PPs, and the instructions that came with my jab, said that once you’ve taken it out of the chiller pack that it arrived in you can keep it unrefigerated (but below 30°) for 21 days - so just enough to get all your jabs in so I’m not sure if your plan would work. I’m still deciding whether to take a couple of weeks off for the cruise, I’ll see how I go.

My husband, like yours, would definitely not approve!

I enjoy a cruise and it would be very easy to eat around being on Mounjaro when on a cruise. The variety of food is plentiful and if you were off your food just say you have a touch of sea sickness.

Snapespeare · 29/09/2024 07:11

NINE POUNDS first week. Water weight up, muscle composition down. Will eat more protein.

Darkflames · 29/09/2024 08:08

I had my third injection last night. Weighed this morning and have lost 12.8lbs! Really didn’t realise that much had gone.

AussieMum135 · 29/09/2024 09:17

Hi all, hope it's ok for me to join. I'm in Australia and had my first injection today. I'm 47, 166cm (5.5ft) tall and weigh 84.2kg (13.2 stone). Had to look up the conversions! 😆

I'm really hoping to lose between 20 and 22kg.

I got my mourjano in a vial and use a syringe to inject. Nervous at first but it was fine and the worrying for the last few days was for nothing! It's been 6 hours and I don't feel any different, no side effects but still feeling hungry. I assume that this should hopefully stop tomorrow!

Ozgirl75 · 29/09/2024 09:41

So I’ve had the first day today - no side effects at all apart from maybe a slight headache but I often have a slight headache!
But the hunger thing - so weird! I’ve had a protein ball and half a bowl of yogurt with seeds and it’s now 6.30pm here and although I’m hungry, it’s a “normal” hunger, I’m not ravenous like I normally would be after that little food. But it’s been fine, I feel good! Went to the cinema this afternoon and didn’t even have to think “I won’t have popcorn”, it just didn’t come into my mind. So bizarre.

Rm2018 · 29/09/2024 09:47

First week weigh in today. 6.6lb down. Unbelievable! Normally takes a month to lose this just 7 stone to go lol

ShiftAMountain · 29/09/2024 10:00

Wow. Some big numbers starting to come in now! Shock

Welcome to the new folks and well done to the Big Losers Grin

Congrats to all the losers! 👏🏼

I had my first injection on wed evening. Thursday and Friday I felt the hunger suppression but it’s gradually been creeping back in and I’m really feeling the hunger today. Anyone else found this? Counting down to wed now 🤦🏽‍♀️.

KitsyWitsy · 29/09/2024 12:21

Day 2.

Lunch is out of the question. Just sipping on some peppermint tea. I don’t feel too bad but just that I can’t face eating. Feel a bit tired and wobbly as well.

Just wanted to also remind myself how ill I felt when I first started taking metformin. Not taking it wasn’t an option and so I had to just deal with it. Now, I have no side effects from that at all. Hopefully this drug will be similar.

I ordered some huel drinks for next week to keep my calories up etc. Hopefully drinking will be easier if I still feel like I can’t eat. Like, I don’t think skipping one meal will do me any harm but I don’t want to be missing lots and get super weak etc.

Going to start going for walks again later if I am up to it. Usually, I am a rambler but I couldn’t walk 6-7 miles with the group at the moment. Need to work up to it again.

If I were you, I’d bring the dose forward a day or two? I think it just needs to be minimum 4 days in between?

I got s telling off on here (not this group) for suggesting this, dangerous apparently.

Not from my research. I will bring mine forward if I think I need to. Just do what you feel comfortable with, I guess.

On day 5 I was ravenous and thought the injection had worn off - I ate a few snack before dinner. The next day my appetite was suppressed again.
I thought it had worn off completely but it hadn’t.

I had this on day 5 also! I was really hungry but then the next couple of days it was ok again. I lost 3lb in my first week which i was abit disappointed with as seen people losing big amounts in the first week and i have alot to lose, but then i thought well 3lb a week til Christmas is 30lb which is a decent loss!
