Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

Well done to those who have had good losses this week. I'm trying not to feel discouraged because I've lost nothing and barely felt any appetite suppression. Second dose administered last night but I think I'll have to wait for the 5mg pen to make any progress.

The vivid dreams are awesome! I had this once before many years ago when I taking an anti depressant.

there are movie quality!

today is day three for me. I am definitely eating less - but not sure if it’s a placebo effect or the drug! The weekend will be the test. I am a classic binge and comfort Eater

Darkflames · 28/09/2024 08:14

@10storeylovesong I've also had some really vivid and bizarre dreams - strange side effect!

JustWalkingTheDogs · 28/09/2024 08:43

Took my second dose yesterday and urghhhh my headache is back. Don't know if I can cope with 3/4 months of headaches. I've always been prone to them, but this is almost constant. I've been drinking lots, taking electrolytes and eating little and often.

The oddest thing for me is that I'm waking up hungry. I've never been a breakfast person and would usually skip it and eat more as the day went on. But I think because I'm having a sensible tea and not snacking afterwards I'm now waking hungry. I've just send dh down to make me some toast and fruit Grin

KitsyWitsy · 28/09/2024 09:29

Weighed myself. 16.4. ;(.

Before covid I’d got down to 13.7. I’d put my diabetes into remission and everything but now the diabetes is berserk and my BP is through the roof.

no sign of the delivery yet.

Snoozysu · 28/09/2024 09:30

Im on day 6 of the 1st jab. So far it’s helping me to eat less and more healthy. So lots of salad with protein, Meat and veg with just a couple of potatoes, No bread My need for lots of coffee has subsided most days just 2 cups and yesterday only 1. Usually have about 5.
Had a small glass of wine last night, usually have more but just was not interested.
It’s a very strange feeling, my friend has ordered and will start tomorrow.
I recommended her to Med express but did not realise that I could have given her a code where do you get these codes from ( we both got them from mumsnet) I have another friend who might be interested so would like to give them my code but don’t know wher to find it) Any ideas?

What are you taking for your headaches? I usually take anadin as I find the added aspirin makes a difference for me. Otherwise I go all in with migraine meds (sumatriptan) and naproxen.

I'm definitely feeling some bowel effects - I wouldn't say diarrhoea, but 'looser' stools. But I probably have a lot in me to vacate, as I've never been very regular Blush

Otherwise feeling ok. Definite appetite suppression which is nice. I'm going out for dinner today so I think I'll need to pick something less fatty to avoid making the poos worse.

My tummy hasn't grumbled and I haven't had that empty tummy feeling since I took the jab Thursday night. I need to eat more today though as I only managed 800 calories yesterday.

Difford · 28/09/2024 10:54

I did my second jab last night and weighed this morning - I've lost 7lbs in my first week! I feel so much better physically and mentally, I think this is the first time in my life where I've felt what a normal relationship with food is like.

FelicityBeedle · 28/09/2024 11:31

Weighed this morning as I’m on holiday from tomorrow with no access to scales and total loss since starting on the 17th is 3.4kg, not bad at all and hopefully sustainable. I’ve got about 50kg to lose though so bit of a way to go

peonym · 28/09/2024 12:03

@FelicityBeedle @Difford well done on your losses!!

@KitsyWitsy hard part done - the scales will only go downhill from here!!

Day 4 week 1 for me. I had crisps last night. I'm really struggling with late night snacking, even though I'm having to force myself to eat lunch. Very annoying. Looking forward to second dose next Wednesday already!

TricksyLiesmith · 28/09/2024 12:24

Congratulations @FelicityBeedle @Difford I'm hoping for similar on Tuesday.

Woke up this morning and not hungry at all. It's so strange that I don't crave the carbs or the sweet stuff . I'm making healthy choices as I want to . I'm exercising and ensuring I do strength training to .

KitsyWitsy · 28/09/2024 13:04

Ok it arrived 5 minutes ago. Already administered it. Had no problems.

i can go out now! Been eyeballing the front of my house all morning.

SquatBetty · 28/09/2024 13:32

I've done it, just injected myself. It was such a tiny needle for anyone who's a bit worried on that score. I was shaking a bit though.

Ordered from Medexpress Weds eve and it was delivered this morning.

SW 16 stone 7lbs

Goal weight - don't mind at the moment just want to reverse this horrendous rapid weight gain I'm guessing is down to the menopause. Would love to get down to 10 stone eventually.

Really hope I don't get too constipated, everything else I think I can deal with!

Right off for a cup of tea to calm me down

WeeklyJab · 28/09/2024 13:33

First injection just done - let’s hope this is the start of significant weight loss!

I am waiting for two surgeries that would significantly improve my daily life and I can’t have them until I’ve lost at least 30kg. I have lots to motivate me if I can just silence the endless food noise in my head.

Congratulations to those who’ve lost weight already and commiserations to those suffering side effects.

KitsyWitsy · 28/09/2024 13:38

Ooo. A few of us just injected. I’m so nervous to find out how it affects me. Some people on Reddit find it affects them almost immediately. I hope I’m the same.

felt very strange to inject myself. Keep thinking I’m going to have done it wrong and drop dead or something. I did follow a YouTube vid as I did it.

KitsyWitsy · 28/09/2024 13:39

Also, took pics of myself in my knickers and bra. Not pleasant! Going to do all my measurements too and keep track.

Theredjellybean · 28/09/2024 13:53

@KitsyWitsy i injected in the evening and woke up next day to full effect - and has been pretty much like that since. Though half way through week 2 and a bit more interested in lunch today . have eaten it but was small serving , sort of 4 tablespoons of curry and rice and i am so stuffed !

I am very interested in people saying they must eat more or they are 'eating their calories'...surely the idea is to retrain ourselves to eat when hungry and small enough portions to be satisfied ?
I have been averaging about 800 calories per day and feel great, losing weight and able to train and run as normal and have bags of energy so why would i force myself to eat more ?

sw 76.2 kgs
cw 69.9 kg
gw ????? maybe 64 ??

Ozgirl75 · 28/09/2024 14:39

I injected tonight - I actually got the pen a couple of days ago and I just bottled it for two days. Nervous about the side effects and also just a general feeling of “how has it come to this?!” but anyway, I injected tonight and it was totally fine and easy.
Now I just await the effects….

Pashazade · 28/09/2024 16:40

I've found an immediate effect and have currently lost a pound a day! Not expecting that to continue and the lack of pull towards food is odd, but it's nice just to think one and done for treats, rather than scarfing the entire packet.

I find if I don't eat I feel dreadful. I'm averaging about 1250 calories per day which I think is sustainable. I tried 800 which was easy, but ended up with a monster headache, feeling nauseous and all round just odd. Little and often is working for me.

But if I could do 800 a day I would do Grin well down on the loss, you're going great guns

Theredjellybean · 28/09/2024 16:58

Thank you
If I ate 1250 calories I'd be gaining weight.
But I'm menopausal and the amount I need has dropped...

ShiftAMountain · 28/09/2024 17:51

Well done to everyone who got up the courage to do their first dose!

Second dose done here - I was definitely more confident this time. I'm looking forward to (potentially) the quietening of the food voice again....
