Mounjaro - Late September Starters

ShiftAMountain · 19/09/2024 14:27

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

I enjoy a cruise and it would be very easy to eat around being on Mounjaro when on a cruise. The variety of food is plentiful and if you were off your food just say you have a touch of sea sickness.

I’m pretty sure I could do it but the question is whether I WANT to do it 😂

It may well be my last Big Birthday (70) and I’m hoping to make the most of it 😊

ShiftAMountain · 29/09/2024 16:49

I also had my hunger turn in the last day or so. But I am fine with that - I can handle it for a couple of days and still eat ok. I figure I have dieting so many times without help that a couple of days doing it again is not so bad - for me.

I had my second jab last night and fell into the same trap of thinking it hadn't had an effect because I felt nothing this morning. But I've got on with the day and suddenly find it's almost 5pm and I've not actually eaten yet! So clearly it's doing something. I shall enjoy tonight's beef stew Grin

DD has lost 4kg in her first week - so happy for her (even though we both know its mainly water weight). Her trousers feel looser too.

TheCatterall · 29/09/2024 16:55

So I bought my first injection with MedExpress, I didn’t spot any subscription details and can’t see any subscription details in that area of my account. It just shows my initial order and that I can’t order another until early October. Fair enough.

confused because I’ve just had an email from Royal Mail about the delivery for my next 2.5mg pen being delivered next week. I’ve not even taken my 2nd dose yet.. and shouldn’t it be a 5mg pen anyway? Or do they not automatically send out the next higher dose unless you request it?

wondering if the system is having a wobble and they are reprocessing my original order?

Anyone else had administrative issues with them?

ShiftAMountain · 29/09/2024 16:55

Well done @Londonmummy66's DD!

I'm in the last couple of days of jab 2, and I'm getting more hunger in terms of tummy rubbing but not fancying anything to eat...but less nausea which was an annoying side effect in the days after the jab, which is a bonus.

I'm just drinking plenty of water to deal with the rumbling tummy and also some of the glucommanan capsules.

Have managed a protein shake and a protein bar today and a banana.

I had this on day 5 also! I was really hungry but then the next couple of days it was ok again. I lost 3lb in my first week which i was abit disappointed with as seen people losing big amounts in the first week and i have alot to lose, but then i thought well 3lb a week til Christmas is 30lb which is a decent loss!

Interesting.

This is Day 5 for me and also the first time I’ve felt properly hungry. I had my lunch around 12 at the end of a hike and felt very full but by 3.30 my mind was wandering to what was in the fridge. I was on the verge of making a chicken sandwich (no craving for sweets, unusually!) but decided to make dinner early instead and that seems to have done the trick, hopefully 🙏
Glad to hear that it kicked back in again 😊

WeightyWidow · 29/09/2024 19:30

Mid first week for me. I’ve had non notable side effects so far - mostly any I do get I think I’m manifesting 😂! So interesting to read everyone’s experiences.

I’m ready for each meal but not interested in snacking in between. Such a relief! The weird thing is I’m able to think about the meals and enjoy the cooking of them. I was worried it would remove that. So far, so good!

Bellyblueboy · 29/09/2024 20:17

@TheCatterall i received my first pen last Monday. I can’t reorder until 3 October.

i haven’t had any rogue emails about further deliveries. Have they charged you?

Just done my 2nd injection. 5 pounds lost so far but I think that was the 'I've stopped smoking' weight that quickly piled on. I find if I put weight on quickly, I lose it quickly too.

Bit disappointed that I haven't experienced much appetite suppression but I suppose a loss is a loss so maybe I'm just eating at the rate I ate at before I stopped smoking and started frantically eating. I need to step it up, though as I have a fair bit to lose.

Not sure if it's helped with tobacco cravings, as I've read somewhere, I'm 3 weeks into that and I think it's just been time that is decreasing those cravings. It was the frantic eating after I gave up smoking that prompted me to get into this. I had been mulling it over for a while but I became so alarmed at my uncontrolled appetite I didn't want to put on even more weight.

I'm trying to be kind to myself for now, with two major changes going on. I've got a long road ahead to get used to it all.

TheCatterall · 29/09/2024 20:20

@Bellyblueboy - no extra pennies taken, have sent them a message and sure it will all get sorted later. :)

letshavetea · 29/09/2024 20:43

Well! I’ve just done my first injection. I waited until the end of the weekend as I didn’t want to feel any symptoms and spoil the weekend plans! I just hope I’ve done the injection correctly. I did the priming and switched to 1. It seemed to take a lot of twisting of the pen to get there and then a long time to push it down to 0. I just hope if haven’t given myself too much as it seemed like a lot!

Nah that sounds right..

Obeseandashamed · 29/09/2024 22:27

Tomorrow was day 6 (i injected on Tuesday).... I felt hungrier today than I have done so far but thankfully no major side effects yet. I have been drinking more water than usual but probably still not as much as I should. Had a cheeky weigh this morning and have lost 7lbs so far. My main side effects are random waves of nausea and some constipation. Hope you're all doing ok. My goal for this week is to increase my protein and daily step count as my current average is 5k steps.

FelicityBeedle · 29/09/2024 23:02

@TheCatterall
I had the same thing, seems to be a delay in The Royal Mail dispatch email from med express if that makes sense, I had one from med express saying it was dispatched, then after it had arrived I got another saying the same order was dispatched via Royal Mail. Check the order numbers, if they’re the same it’s likely the same mistake

WeeklyJab · 29/09/2024 23:30

I felt just awful when I woke up after yesterday’s first injection - real discomfort in my bowel, couldn’t sit or stand comfortably for quite a while. Other than that, I’m tired out.

TheCatterall · 29/09/2024 23:57

@FelicityBeedle - thank you - that’s probably it then. :)

peonym · 30/09/2024 05:02

Some amazing losses for the first week!

I'm on holiday, overindulging a little and my heartburn has gone WILD. Had a lovely dinner and a couple of glasses of wine but no dessert so that's something...

Weighing in on Wednesday and worried I won't have lost much, if anything. But know this is a long term game.

JustWalkingTheDogs · 30/09/2024 07:10

I had my first bottle of Diet Coke yesterday (I do love a Diet Coke Grin), blimey my heartburn was off the scale. First real bad side effect I've had since far.

But I also think I've found the source of my headaches, electrolytes! When I have an electrolyte a while later I get a headache - very odd

Cocoaone · 30/09/2024 07:31

@JustWalkingTheDogs I've seen that you can make your own electrolytes with lo salt and some form of magnesium powder. That might be worth a shot - it's probably the artificial stuff in them setting your headaches off? Although, iron in vitamins gives me headaches, so could be something like that

I'm really struggling to eat, it's been 3 days (jabbed Thursday night) and I've averaged 800 cals a day and that was a concerted effort to get to that much. Had a sneaky weigh and I'm 5lbs down already Confused

I know it sounds like a nice problem to have, but I'm really paranoid about hair loss, muscle loss, gallstones etc from rapid weight loss, so I'm going to focus on 3-4 smaller meals today and try not to drink too much water close to them. I've ordered some clear whey protein as I can't stand milky shakes.

The medicine in my body should be starting to decrease now, so maybe that will help too

Ozgirl75 · 30/09/2024 07:45

@Cocoaone im similar. I tracked my calories yesterday and hit 800 and I was perfectly sated all day. To be fair though for me, I probably should only eat around 1200 per day to maintain because I’m short, middle aged and not terribly active. So it isn’t a huge drop off for me. I think I was eating around 1500 -1800 before and gaining weight on that.
Im focussing on eating a really balanced diet to keep healthy. Yesterday though I had a protein ball, a yogurt with seeds and berries, a chicken stir fry and a second protein ball and I was fine. That feels like a pretty healthy intake of food.

Tonight we’re having tacos so I’ll have the chilli, rice, guacamole and cheese but just a small portion of it.

I'll have a look at the make your own electrolytes. I am drinking lots of water and trying to be healthy anyway.

Have you tried protein powder in a smoothie? A way of preventing muscle loss and getting a few more calories in. I've been making one each morning and sipping it during the morning. Doesn't feel like eating so it goes down easier.

Protein powder (I bought mine off Amazon)
Banana
Greek yogurt
Skimmed milk

It's actually quite nice.

Pashazade · 30/09/2024 08:11

Day 6 of week 1 (counting Wednesday as first day as jabbed late Tuesday.)
First day I haven't dropped weight overnight (I've been weighing out of curiosity). Have lost 4.2lb so far, was feeling slightly miffed that I didn't lose overnight and then checked myself because Hello you've lost 4lbs, in a week, and it's not bounced back up!

mouse26 · 30/09/2024 08:14

On day 3 and amazed! Not felt hungry at all, have had normal sized portions and been happy. Normally would have stuffed my face and then binged on sweet things.

No side effects as yet

holycow1 · 30/09/2024 10:23

Day 7 update from me (I’m due my second injection this evening). 5lbs down according to my scales. I’ve been lucky and experienced very little in the way of side effects during my first week other than occasional mild nausea. Definitely thinking about food a lot less, and not craving the crisps or chocolate – I’ve been able to cut them out this week without really missing them. I had a square of dark Lindt chocolate one night, just to see if it would set me off, but I was fine and didn't feel the need for more.

Over the last 2 or 3 days I’ve had more of a spring in my step, seem to be thinking more clearly. It’s a strange feeling, I’m used to the ‘food noise’ being there, always thinking about what I’m going to eat next, and now it’s just… neutral. Hard to explain! I think it started to wear off a bit yesterday evening though, felt a bit hungrier – so it’s definitely time for my next dose.
