I've got a series of mini goals like losing 10%, halfway to goal weight, getting below obese and into overweight etc. I haven't really given myself target dates like Christmas as I'm worried I'll be deterred if I don't make them. My main aim is to keep going, keep going and then keep going some more without giving up when I'm bored and stagnating after a few months. I want to get to a just inside a healthy BMI range, even if I end up a few pounds above it, which I think might suit me better.

I think this might easily take me till next summer, but I don't know. I just need to hang in there! There's always the next half stone/stone milestone to aim for.

FlappingMadly · 11/09/2024 12:52

Strange NSVs. My size down jeans are very close to needing to go down again and a T-shirt I wear a lot is suddenly a tunic. My trainers are really loose. I need new bras too. I usually have Prima Donna but don’t want to pay that for one I’ll likely have to replace again. So any suggestions for G good support bras welcome. I don’t know how to explain it given I’ve only lost 3kg. Hope I have a whoosh coming!

Hi. Have been quiet but following along with interest. I'm just finishing my 4th week on 2.5mg and have lost 10lbs which I'm thrilled with. I'm now happily wearing jeans which were uncomfortably tight a month ago. Tummy much flatter, jawline looks sharper and a couple of friends have noticed.

Nervous about moving up to 5mg tomorrow as I've been lucky to have zero side effects so far. Does everyone get the side effects when they increase dosage?

MissFancyDay · 11/09/2024 13:07

My overall, very vague, goal is 5 stone off by this time next year, which is ambitious but dependant on how the higher doses work.

I am very happy with 1.5 to 2lbs off a week, and factoring in stalls and plateaus (plateaux?) it should take me a year. But if it takes all of 2025 that's fine as well.

Short term goals are

  1. 10% off body weight
  2. Something lovely to wear at Christmas
MissFancyDay · 11/09/2024 13:14

@Arraminta I moved up to 5mg last week, after very minimal side effects on 2.5mg. My side effects have been...very nauseous and didn't want to get up on day one. Nauseous in the morning of day two, and nothing since, in fact I feel great. That's not counting constipation which I have had since I started. Good luck with your jab.

Thank you. I jab before bedtime so hoping I might sleep through the nausea?

Snoopsteandcooper · 10/09/2024 22:15

You're right, I think I'm just a bit frustrated at being "stuck"

Hey don't get disheartened, that's amazing in your first month. If you had weighed in monthly I bet you would be really happy with that. You've done great sticking with your calories etc, I'm 1.5 stone down and my belly is still big, it will probably take ages to look different, it's the one part I hate truly truly hate about me. Measure yourself once a month too. Xx

Princessandthepie · 11/09/2024 13:25

I don't feel like my clothes are looser, I'm still in the same clothes, no one has mentioned anything about my weight loss at all. Not sure if I'm annoyed or happy about that 🤣

In terms, of goals, I'm just concentrating on getting to the next half stone down. When I look at the height/weight charts, I do wondering if I could ever realistically get to the weight it's suggests which is 10 and half stones. I don't think I've been that weight my entire adult life.

I'm currently 14 stones 6lbs. My lowest weight over the past 5 years was 13.10 and that was some seriously hard work, calorie counting, no booze, exercising 6 days a week. So I think for me, 11 to 12 stones is probably more realistic than 10.7.

But for now, half stone goals are my focus.

MissFancyDay · 11/09/2024 13:27

@Arraminta. Yes, my nausea was the day after the jab but it effects everyone so differently you can't second guess it.

NippyCrab · 11/09/2024 13:35

@cosylife I'm doing small goals of a 1/2 stone at a time with the overall loss being 4st. I'm 1.5 stone down. My next goal is to lessen the joint pain lugging this body about. I've had a hip replacement 10 years ago and the other one will need done, I want to lighten the load on it to help it along, I don't want it replaced for a while. The third goal is my clothes, I want to just put on an outfit and know it fits and be able to buy nicer clothes rather than clothes that hide my body. X

I started at that weight of 14.7 and I'm 13st 0.8lbs lol that wee half pound grrrrr. I can't wait to see a 12, it's been years! My husband hasn't seen me slimmer than 13st 4lbs. He's cheering me on. I've put my goal at 10.7 but if I look too ill I'll also go for 11 ish too. Xx
Ps, I'm 5ft 5.5"

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 11/09/2024 13:42

I’ve not really noticed any difference in my clothes although I’ve lost about 1st 5 - I’m on week 6.
But then again, I usually work from home and wear joggers and a baggy t-shirt.

Today I spotted a top that I love but haven’t worn for a couple of years as it had got ridiculously tight. Think tank top style but with sleeves - tried it on and it’s baggy!

My targets will be to wear the lovely dress I bought a size down, for the event I’m going to in November.

Several years ago, as an incentive, I bought jeans in sizes 14, 12 and 10! I will start to think I’m winning if I can get into 1 or more of them sometime!!

Princessandthepie · 11/09/2024 14:52

@nippycrab im 5ft6 so our suggested target weights are the same I would imagine.

But i do think id look ill at 10 and half stone.

poppym12 · 11/09/2024 15:28

I'm injured and have been prescribed strong codeine with a warning that it will probably make me constipated. I almost celebrated last night after finally going to the toilet a bit so I think I'll put up with the pain from the injury instead as Mounjaro constipation is bad enough.

AnnieMcFanny · 11/09/2024 15:43

My goal is 2.5 - 3kgs in stages. I decide which number each one above would take me to and if I like the sound of it I use that as a target.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2024 17:22

@Princessandthepie and @NippyCrab I'm an inch taller at 5/7 and to get me to a bmi of 22 would mean 10st one

Years ago like 18yrs I got to 10.10 and looked gaunt and couldn't keep it there without starving myself

11 stone is good for me but means my bmi 24.1 - which is still in the healthy range but too ens

Willowy1982 · 11/09/2024 18:01

Jab 4 this evening and 11lbs lost. I'm so happy. I've ordered my 5mg pen but plan to count the clicks and do 3.75mg. Wishing everyone well!

Willowy1982 · 11/09/2024 18:06

Forgot to add that I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and he said I'm the first patient he's seen who's used tirzepatide. He's been reading the research on improvements with pain and inflammation but hadn't known a patient in real life to have experienced this. I have fibro and RA, and have spent the whole summer thoroughly unwell, in pain and miserable. Unable to exercise, completely fatigued and difficulty getting out of bed in the morning. I feel like I have a new body. One that can exercise, isn't chronically fatigued and constantly in pain.

MabelSpan · 11/09/2024 18:15

@Willowy1982 I am so happy for you and your new body! It must feel incredible both mentally and physically to have such dramatic improvements to your fibro and RA . Long may it continue!😊
And congratulations on your fab loss!😁

Pinkjenny · 11/09/2024 18:48

I'm psyching myself out massively tonight, obsessively staring at myself in the mirror looking for changes. I need to find a way to trust the process and not be terrified of a maintain or a gain. Be prepared to play the long game rather than the quick game, but it's so hard!

I've got fibromyalgia and RA too. I was on gabapentin but came off because of the weight gain. It's certainly not good with the weather changing 😢

I prefer autumn/winter, I seem fair better than summer. The heat and humidity really caused me to flare.

The weather changing is already increasing my pain urgh, and the wind on my skin. My first 4 weeks I felt great but the last week and a half I've felt rubbish, as if I'm heading for a Fibro or ME flare. @Willowy1982 I want some of what you have 🤣 x

I had a look at Nutracheck and I would be a BMI of 24.7 I've got it in my head that 10.7 is my goal or I have failed. I'll need to get right out that mindset 💯

feel like I have a new body

it’s really interesting you’ve said this as my knees, one artificial, one with stage 3 arthritis, are much stiffer than normal and I’m now using my cream on them again.

I do feel really well though if you discount the knees. 🤣
