What is your daily fibre intake? @AnnieMcFanny

AuntieDote · 10/09/2024 07:02

Psyllium husk is good to incorporate into your diet for like a gentle, natural way to keep things moving. It’s meant to be better than chia seeds etc. Although I read yesterday it’s meant to keep you fuller for longer too, which if the drugs are already doing that you might not want anything else reducing your hunger! Good for the data suppression is wearing off maybe! Not sure how seriously to take this article as, although it’s diabetes uk, it seems to be basing the theory off tiktok videos more than anything! But here it is for interest https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2024/aug/psyllium-husk-fibre-supplement-as-effective-as-ozempic-for-weight-loss-doctors-say.html

Also - I got mine from Amazon and it’s much cheaper than boots!

The one time I was really struggling I was at my sisters and pinched a bit of the lactulose she had in and yep, that was very effective!

More broadly I’m taking a good probiotic each night and, when I remember I take digestive enzymes before eating too. I’m really trying to focus on gut health alongside this because I’ve suffered from really bad IBS for most of my adult life and when I have a bad flare up it’s completely debilitating. Not sure it’s fully worked if last week was anything to go by, but going to keep trying.

Psyllium husk: Fibre supplement as effective as Ozempic for weight loss, doctors say

A fibre supplement sold for £12.50 in Boots can help people lose…

I've been eating chia seeds and that seems to be helping but I've noticed that the constipation is easing off but I've used Fybogel which has helped.

Really wish I had some magic trick for this tiredness though! I don't work which I'm thankful for these days but there's a lot going on with the kids, family and school volunteering and I feel like I just want to curl up in bed all day, every day. I'm usually in bed by 9.30 at the latest these days.

DitzyDoes · 10/09/2024 08:01

I am just about to take my 6th dose (it will be week 2 of 5 mg) however I am just not losing a huge amount despite not eating a lot.

SW: 15 stone 4 lb
CW: 14 stone 8 lb

I think my love of wine and G&T's is not helping!!!!!

GoodLuckBabe · 10/09/2024 08:07

Thanks for the new thread @Wingingit11
Good to hear everyone’ thoughts on managing eating out etc. I am fairly anti-social so not been a huge issue so far, but I do have a couple of things coming up.
I ate a Mars Bar last night .. bit disappointed. It was a very stressful day though. Just weird as I haven’t fancied something like that for so many weeks. I went up to 5mg last week and had awful nausea, so this week I went for 3.75mg and it doesn’t seem to be having much effect 🙁Should have stuck to 5!

Re the Mars Bar, I have the sweetest tooth normally but haven’t been bothered by missing out on them which is liberating. Interesting that it happened when stressed, probably a coping mechanism of old, I did that, someone once said to me your bad habits have formed over years (many in my case🤣)and new habits take weeks to take hold?

GoodLuckBabe · 10/09/2024 09:00

@Whoyoutakingto thanks for that insight, you are completely right. For so many years (since having children probably) I have ‘treated myself’ with chocolate and that type of thing as a kind of reward for getting through the day. So it was probably me looking for something to soothe myself. I did try a choc protein pot first but it was revolting, hence the mars bar. I need to reflect on the fact that whilst it was pleasurable, it didn’t ultimately give me that much relief. New habits to make! Thanks for your post, I was too busy feeling cross with myself to realise.

It's fine to have a treat or else when we stop mj you won't be able to have one

MabelSpan · 10/09/2024 09:06

@AnnieMcFanny Prunes!
They are fab for constipation. I try to remember to eat some daily, but if I forget I will have 7 and that always guarantees a mighty movement the following morning! 😃

Timetochange24 · 10/09/2024 09:23

I've last track of all the different providers out there... I'm thinking of moving to Medexpress from Voy for month two - how have you found them?

poppym12 · 10/09/2024 09:34

The constipation this week is getting to me. It's been gradually building up over the last 3 weeks. I hate prunes and prune juice with a passion - makes me wretch so just can't!! I easily eat my recommended fruit & veg and drink loads of water, beans and legumes are eaten often as I'm vegetarian.

I've tried chia seeds - did nothing, ground flaxseed - caused overflow ( sorry if tmi!) but the problem is still there.

I'm taking psyllium husk capsules daily, fybogel sachet most days, eventually tried senna - nada.

I know it's in there as it's been getting more obvious that constipation is an issue and today I'm just bloody fed up. About to head to the supermarket and pharmacy but there's so many different things that everyone says works for them but I haven't had any luck yet.

MargoLivebetter · 10/09/2024 09:57

Marking my place on the new thread. Sorry to hear so many suffering with constipation. I find raw coconut is amazing for digestive transit. Those wee chunks you get in the snack section in supermarkets have an incredibly dynamic effect on my insides.

I'm part way through week 4 and still have very good repression and no appetite on the 2.5 dose, so will be sticking with it for my next pen. I've got an insulin syringe to suck out 0.6ml bonus dose.

I switched to them from Zava as they were cheaper with a voucher. They were fine. I registered last Monday and had the pen by Friday. They want a full length photo, photo of ID and proof of previous prescription if you're not starting at 2.5, so i sent them a copy of my Zava invoice. It was all done very quickly. I'll probably stick with them now as they're pretty much the cheapest and have some maintenance provision.

I can send you a voucher if you like, but feel free to disregard!

In response to your question on the last thread, you only know how much you get in the bonus dose if you draw it out using an insulin syringe. You can buy these online, but make sure they are sterile ones meant for injecting insulin. They should be 100 units per ml. I get the 1ml ones. You push the needle into the red rubber stopper at the end of the pen and draw it out.

It depends on how much of the Mounjaro you use when priming the pen each time as to how much you are left with at the end which is why I like to actually measure it, otherwise you won't know.

In my 2.5mg pen I drew out. 0.76ml and I then drew out 0.14ml from my new pen to make a 0.9ml (3.75mg) dosage. Use a brand new syringe each time.

Also, just to add in case you're confused, that I have decided to move up to 5mg gradually which is why I'm doing a 3.75mg dosage, but it's not a standard dose.

WorriedRelative · 10/09/2024 10:29

Just place marking as I keep losing you.

Did my first 5mg yesterday, feeling slightly nauseous now but not bad.

Pinkjenny · 10/09/2024 10:36

I have tried everything for the constipation:

Chia seeds
Prunes

I take psyllium husk and a probiotic every day. Absolutely nothing is working. I'm also drinking gallons of water. Nothing.

Very true. And it was within my calories. So actually it is fine. I have PMT currently so just catastrophising that if I can’t resist one mars bar where will I end up. Thank you for talking me down! In fact it is pleasing that I ate one mars bar and didn’t then go rootling around for more stuff

Timetochange24 · 10/09/2024 11:23

Really frustrating exchange with Voy today:

Went online to look at how to cancel because I'm not feeling the benefit of their extras and it's too expensive if all I'm using is the medication. The website said "speak to our customer service team to discuss our pricing." Which I did. Got a long email back to explain why Voy is good value.

And also to tell my that they've helpfully cancelled my plan before I'd made a decision.

I've previously done a weightloss programme that came with coaching and information through Second Nature (not using medication). I found the info they supplied was really helpful. It's head and shoulders above the limited information Voy sends out for a similar price per month.

I mean, I probably was going to cancel Voy but who cancels a customer before the customer has actually confirmed to cancel?!

Wingingit11 · 10/09/2024 11:25

I’m with Asda which is good as you can collect (have a discount available!) but am probably going to move to oushk in a bit as their maintenance plans look good

Hi everyone, many thanks for the help
with what Im hoping was a one off situation this morning and that going forward everything will
be plain sailing. I’ll make a note of everything suggested to help with constipation
as it’s something I have to keep to a minimum. I’m waiting to have rectocele and cystocele surgery done and my bits and pieces just can’t take any aggravation.

missperseverance · 10/09/2024 12:34

I'm due to do the bonus dose from my 2.5 pen tomorrow and have bought some new insulin syringes however I am shitting myself about using them. Did I read somewhere that I have to inject at an angle? If someone could clarify what I'm meant to be doing I would really appreciate it!

I'm with them. Can't fault them. They reply quite quickly if any issues

Sent a replacement pen as mine came melted

Sent more needles

They are one of the cheapest

And have maintenance

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/09/2024 12:44

@GoodLuckBabe Lesst you only ate one
