My tummy is sore today so I've taken the prunes advice.

FlappingMadly · 09/09/2024 18:56

Thank you! @Wingingit11

JoyousSwan · 09/09/2024 19:04

Thanks for the new August starters thread @Wingingit11
I took my 5mg jab yesterday. Has anyone else found it makes them so tired?
I'm also finding weekends harder to navigate with social situations and meals out. I'm definitely eating less/making better choices without much thought but just feel like I'm undoing all the good work during the week.
I've lost a stone since I started at the start of August with most of it coming off in week 1!

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2024 19:17

We've all crashed. I have malteasergate

Thanks for new thread

SilverSprings510 · 09/09/2024 19:17

Thanks for new thread!

re: socialising, I think it’s got to be factored in as we want this to be a lifestyle change and not completely restrictive. I have been out for lunch/dinner a few time but just pick lighter options, and just have a few glasses of wine instead of going mad. I factor them all in to my calories for the day, and if I go a bit over (I haven’t yet) I’d adjust my calories for the next day(s) slightly to even it out.

WitchDancer · 09/09/2024 19:20

Found you, thank you.

I've gained a pound this week too. I've been tempted a lot by cake at all the church events all weekend so it doesn't surprise me. Onwards and downward though, hopefully with a better suppression.

Yes, I think I need to hold on to the big picture (I've got a long way to go on this journey) and not fret so much. Think I'm just feeling a bit bloated after the weekend and am away this weekend coming up too! The rest of September is a bit quieter though so hopefully it'll all even out by the end of the month.

Princessandthepie · 09/09/2024 19:37

I'm dipping in to say hi as I missed out on thread 3 as I've been trying to spend less time on my phone and it filled up so fast.

Since my last post, I'm now up to 17lbs off and up to 5mg, took my first last week.

Im doing ok but headaches and tiredness are major factors in my day to day life now, I feel like my head is a vice sometimes!

I've had a couple of gains along the way too, went down to 14.6 then back to 14.8 then down to 14.5 so I'm trying not to weigh in every day!!

CremeDeSudo · 09/09/2024 19:54

Marking place! These threads fill up so fast!

Wingingit11 · 09/09/2024 19:59

Wow @Princessandthepie that’s a great loss! Some great head wobble too here in terms of one day inthe grand scheme is not going to this programme ruin and it’s a long haul! Think will definitely move to 5 when next jab on Thursday (I moved to then as it feels lienfeel less rough for wkd but suppressed !)

Definitely agree with finding a way to eat socially. It's a part of life whether we like it or not so I'm trying to find a balance when a meal out is necessary. It's dd's birthday today and she asked to have lasagne for dinner... I don't like feeding the dc the idea of dieting but luckily they helped themselves to such big portions there was only a small bit left for me. They're saving me from myself without knowing it 🤣

Thanks for setting up the new thread too!

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2024 20:04

Agree socialising is harder plus I don't always want to eat a larger meal

I find 2 starters works well in size

@Princessandthepie def not good to wi every day but great loss had over the month

lookathatbookcase · 09/09/2024 20:13

Checking in :)

I've been getting better (?) at socialising. I don't really drink so sticking to a lime + soda or 0% beer has worked so far; also a couple of starters, as PP mentioned, or the lighter/high protein options. Any meal with sharing dishes also works well. But I really like food and would rather enjoy a smaller amount of something really nice than getting in a fret about it.

NippyCrab · 09/09/2024 20:19

Thanks for the new thread, the fill up so fast x

Wingingit11 · 09/09/2024 20:21

Just had an epiphany that for those who started at beginning of August we have done 40 days ! That’s long for me to stick to it 🫣😅

OP posts:
Makelikeatreeandleaf · 09/09/2024 20:31

I did my 4th yesterday, I'm 9lb down. I felt a bit nauseous today for the first time so instead of eating clean and drinking water I've eaten 3 pieces of garlic bread, had a very large glass of wine, a piece of cheese and a moam. So now I feel nauseous, bloated and cross with myself. Tomorrow, my body will be a temple, rather than the mobile skip it has been today...

AuntieDote · 09/09/2024 20:44

Checking in for the new thread ahead of injecting again for the week - sticking with 3.75 instead of going up to 5, mainly because of the sickness last week - whether mj related or not I just don’t want to rock the boat so soon after! Also going away to Spain for 4 nights on Friday and want to be able to eat and drink a little, really hope this will give me enough suppression to stop me overdoing it but also allow me to enjoy myself a little!

Bit anxious about not being able to track everything I eat whilst there. I know some people hate it but I’m finding it really informative and helpful right now. When we were away at the end of August as a family, the majority of meals were made by me still so I had a fair idea of what was what, and felt a bit more in control e.g even if I underestimated how many calories were in the dinner we ate out, I still knew that everything else that day was way under so I had wiggle room. This time we will be eating breakfast, lunch and dinner out - I guess it will be a good chance to practice making healthy choices based on how I feel rather than weighing everything!!

MelainesLaugh · 09/09/2024 20:52

Just checking in! Two days until my final 2.5mg jab, although I’m going to try and do the bonus jab with the hard twist. I just can’t bring myself to use an insulin syringe. Unless anyone knows of any with tiny needles!!!

Princessandthepie · 09/09/2024 22:10

Thanks @Blondeshavemorefun and @Wingingit11

I first injected on 3rd August so 38 days for me so very happy with 17lbs down but with no alcohol its been a very long 38 days! 🙈

Eating out has been trickier than previously especially with the kids over the holidays but I've managed even if the kids just eat and I have something from my own snack bag when we leave if nothing takes my fancy.

We've only been out to dinner once in the past few weeks and I had steak and salad so that was easy and I offered to drive so stayed off the wine!

JoyousSwan · 09/09/2024 22:26

I was the 4th August. I still can't believe the difference it makes having the reduction in food noise. I'm still working on listening for my full signal - I actually find that easier to do when eating out than I do at home!

It's really helpful to hear how everyone is tackling the social side of life and making it work.

17lb is fantastic! Well done!

supadupapupascupa · 09/09/2024 22:57

I started 13th I think. Had first bonus dose today at around 1pm, felt like I wanted to nap by 2pm but powered through the school run. By 4pm I was fast asleep! Wide awake now tho!!!!

20bloodypounds · 09/09/2024 22:59

I only started last week so I'm on the September thread, but when that thread was only a few posts in (and initially a bit slow) I read everything on the August starters 3. It was so helpful and reassuring, so thank you to everyone who posted over that time.

I'm quite a foodie (hence another 20 bloody pounds on in the last 2 years!) so I was worried that the appetite supression and lack of food noise would ruin my enjoyment of cooking and food and eating out. I've been so pleased to find that it hasn't (so far). I've enjoyed pouring over a menu, and like others opted for 2 small starters - and didn't even finish the second one. I've been able to enjoy the food I have eaten, and I've enjoyed cooking for others. The big difference is I'm not snacking on all the ingredients while I'm cooking AND I'm not guzzling wine while doing so. What a change in a few days!

Anyway, I'm back off to the September thread where I belong.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2024 23:33

@20bloodypounds anyone is welcome on aug - just as we all started in aug we are all on the same dose within the month so nice to talk to others who are in similar place

Doesn't mean you or others can't come /reply

We are a chatty bunch - more so then most of the other months it seems 😂

MissFancyDay · 10/09/2024 00:22

@Choux hi, you replied to me on the other thread about food noise.

Yes, I think you are right about boredom. I am retired and supposed to be working on some art today but was basically just mooching about the house putting it off.

But since I posted that comment, the 5mg has really kicked in. This has been the first day that I have genuinely struggled to eat. So I have to knuckle down now and make sure every morsel that I eat is nutritional.

This medication is a real rollercoaster ride!!

AnnieMcFanny · 10/09/2024 04:13

Good morning, I’m putting together a little self care kit in view of the gas I’ve had all night - I’m surprised the trees in my garden are still upright. And I’m wondering what is recommended for the constipation at times associated with Mounjaro. It’s something I’ve never been bothered with but I think it’s in the process and last nights discomfort was the start of it. I’m trying to very delicate here 🤣
