@Blondeshavemorefun you and I are similar, I think we both have just hit a weight loss plateau. Glad we will start 7.5mg together!

Ditto

Just so frustrating for us

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 14:08

@owlyboo not at all but I appreciate the reply

A handful of pasta so 100g. One slice of bread or small protein bagel or small portion of rice /jacket

Portions def not too big

Lots of salad fruit and veg

On sw I would eat my syns via crisps chocolate or a gin

I rarely eat them now and not drinking

weaseleyes · 25/09/2024 14:18

@Blondeshavemorefun I don't think what you're eating is bad or too much at all, but it might just be your sensitivity to carbs has changed. I used to be able to eat them with no problem, but since being older and having been on multiple diets, I think I have much more sensitivity to them. I hear you on being hungry if you don't eat them, but that might be a tiny version of the carb craving I get now if I eat them very often! If I go a week without them, that goes away.

You could maybe experiment by replacing some of the bread, rice and pasta with more complex carbs, like quinoa or beans? If nothing else, I sometimes find that eating something that isn't my everyday diet can surprise my body into a bit of a loss. I'm sure you'll get a loss soon if you can bear to hang on, but it might be worth trying a change.

Ah rubbish! Was only a thought as I would literally pile my plate with pasta on SW! Hopefully 7.5 gets things going. Must be so frustrating.

weaseleyes · 25/09/2024 14:21

I may be unduly interested in @Blondeshavemorefun's plateau! It's strangely compelling thinking about someone else's struggles rather than my own and wondering how they can be fixed (rather than giving up if they're mine).

SilverSprings510 · 25/09/2024 14:23

@Blondeshavemorefun how much protein are you eating a day? I’m similar to you in that I’ve never really cut carbs out of my diet and always lost weight, but I find that having more protein in my diet keeps me much fuller than just carbs alone. They say to aim for 1g of protein per kg of weight. Example of a typical day here:

Breakfast: Lidl Protein Shake (35g protein)
Lunch: Chicken & Avocado Bagel Thin (40g protein)
Dinner: Steak & Potatoes (55g protein)

So I’m on well over 100g of protein a day and I don’t feel hungry at all. Sometimes I will have a protein mousse if I’ve had a less protein based dinner. Just an idea x

Wingingit11 · 25/09/2024 14:25

Midway through wk 2 of 5mg (delayed start after climbing slowly the 3s!) and feel really good noise-y again🫠)

Ha ha @weaseleyes

Glad to be of service 😂😂

These kinds of convos are incredibly important for those coming behind us. We’ve got all kinds of responders on here!

Silver not sure how much I have

But every day I either have protein shake for breakie or a protein bagel for lunch

I have been buying the protein yog/mouse from Aldi which say 26g on pot I think and usually one a day

Will always have either mince chicken tuna in a tea meal

How do I work out the protein in the meat

I'm just over 15s so 96kg. God that sounds bad

Tho was 17.4 before lost 1.1 on sw so was nearly 110kg 🥲🥲🥲🥲

AnnieMcFanny · 25/09/2024 15:19

@owlyboo that was great advice.

@blondeshavemorefun Just another idea - you said maybe you needed to change approach from SW ...have you tried using My Fitness Pal? It's really easy to use and free. It tells you the protein, carbs and fat plus calories on a daily and weekly basis. When I was on SW I felt that it allowed people to eat big amounts and unlimited amount of Muller Lites at the time. I could never get to my target weight on that programme but did in lockdown by calorie counting. We will get there eventually!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2024 15:32

Ok had a look at a protein page

shake is 23g
And bagels 8.5g
Yog/mouse 26g
Egg 6 so 12g
Chicken breast (half 26.2) so 52g
Beef mince (85g 24.6) so 48g
Salmon 30g

So average 23,26 and evening meal 40 average so daily getting averaged is nearly 90g of protein

Wingingit11 · 25/09/2024 15:32

Nutracheck is excellent value. I’ve had my eyes open to the lost calories when I’ve tracked properly !

OP posts:
AnnieMcFanny · 25/09/2024 15:38

I use Nutracheck now after using MFP for years. I really like NC.

I don’t know how this will go down as a suggestion but how about eating properly instead of drinking protein shakes and eating protein bars. I’m convinced they do more harm than good.

Azuresky68 · 25/09/2024 15:57

@Timetochange24 thanks for advice re dose. Your weight loss in 1 month was very good indeed. I only lost 7 pounds in my first month and I am nearly at the end of week 5. As I said previously I am tracking calories and macros and eating around 1000 cals. I don't want to go any lower. I need to lose 1 stone 7 pounds.. without this group I would be very despondent.

I only brought a bag of powder mix as I saw so many on the main threads of mj saying have a protein shake a day 😂😂😂

Timetochange24 · 25/09/2024 17:02

I tend to agree with trying to just eat a balanced diet, but when I looked back on MFP I'm consistently eating too little protein. I can hit my target if all my meals are protein-based but usually sit at least 10% under, often more. The only days I've hit the 60g target, I had yogurt for breakfast, tuna and lentil salad with extra cottage cheese for lunch, salmon or chicken and quinoa for dinner. I'm having to double up on protein to get close, and on days with strong suppression I can't get that much food into me!!

Wingingit11 · 25/09/2024 17:07

If you’re looking to get more protein in, wellgard collagen dissolved straight into coffee and with milk makes about 20g so an easy start to the day!

OP posts:
SilverSprings510 · 25/09/2024 17:14

Also agreed that Nutracheck is worth the money.

Regarding protein shakes, I started them midway through week 1 as I was barely managing 800 cals a day. If I ate a normal breakfast I couldn’t eat dinner at all. Having a protein shake for breakfast allows me to have a protein rich lunch and dinner and meet my protein goals for the day. I don’t think they do any harm when used appropriately.

Pinkjenny · 25/09/2024 17:53

Quick NSV if I may! I'm going to the office tomorrow, and I've just tried on a couple of suits that I bought about 4 years ago, still with the tags on, have never fit me!

I'll be wearing one of them tomorrow!

Wingingit11 · 25/09/2024 17:53

@Pinkjenny what a great result!

Yet another day of my neverending period. Have done some research and it's apparently a known side effect. Lovely!

Pinkjenny · 25/09/2024 18:01

Thank you!! Still a way to go but it's so nice to be able to not go to the office in the same bloody black trousers!
