@MidLifeResurgence74 why did you go up from 2.5 if that made you feel bad

NippyCrab · 24/09/2024 14:23

@Choux the only thing that concerned me about the lower dose was the 30 day use by guideline.

CaptainWaffle · 24/09/2024 15:37

Hi all, I started the 5mg pen yesterday - having had no side effects at all on the 2.5mg and great weight loss - and today I feel awful.
I used a 2.5mg dose (30 clicks) and today I've got horrible diarrhoea alongside stomach pains - how can that be?!
Is this usual?
Thanks

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2024 15:42

Tech it's the only
Time the dose doubles so some feel poorly on 5. Some don't

Hi @Blondeshavemorefun, I just didn't expect it as I took half a dose - hopefully it'll pass!

doodles55 · 24/09/2024 15:46

okay, I have injected my first 5mgs this morning
had a bit of a dry mouth/ thirst but that has since gone
nothing else

Interested in how you get on - I seem to be getting some side effects from a half dose of my 5mg pen (despite sailing through the 2.5).

FlappingMadly · 24/09/2024 16:04

@doodles55 when you say nothing do you feel no sense of fullness at all? This is the only symptom I have and it’s not very strong.
Have you lost at all on it? Eating any differently? I never felt anything btw until the day after jabbing.

weaseleyes · 24/09/2024 16:43

@CaptainWaffle That's odd, as half a 5mg should be the same dose. I suppose gradually the level of MJ in your system builds up a little even if you just keep taking the same dose, so it may be you've reached a bit of a tipping point and are now experiencing a side effect. Do you think you've eaten anything different or are under the weather at all?

WitchDancer · 24/09/2024 16:55

@MidLifeResurgence74 I'm sorry to hear you're just not getting on with MJ. I think you are doing absolutely the right thing by stopping taking it. Some things just aren't worth the affect it can have on you.

I wonder if all the weight loss injections would have the same effect or if a different brand would be tolerable?

Edited

I feel exactly the same as before , as in not having injected …
I had fresh fruit salad with ff natural yogurt for breakfast
a cheese and red onion toastie for lunch 1:30ish
nothing to eat since, and do you know what.. I’m not hungry
Thanks for drawing my attention to this, FM !!!
who knows maybe, maybe 🤔 😬

Scrap first sentence 🧹

SilverSprings510 · 24/09/2024 18:27

@MissFancyDay I can’t get on with the protein yoghurts at all - they’re too thick for me 🤢 I find the mousses and puddings a lot more palatable. I also have a protein shake every morning for breakie - either a my protein one mixed with semi skimmed milk and ice (I find the ice helps the powder dissolve better) or a Lidl ready made one as they have 35mg in them.

re: weighing/jabbing, I do my jab on a Tuesday evening and weigh Wednesday morning. Previously did both on a weds morning but was finding it a bit much with the nursery run, as I’m also a teacher so I need to be in earlier.

NippyCrab · 24/09/2024 14:23

@Choux the only thing that concerned me about the lower dose was the 30 day use by guideline.

You don't have to use the pen till it's empty if the 30 day limit concerns you.

If you buy a 2.5mg pen and use it 5 times in 30 days at a very low dose where you have good suppression but no sickness then discard the rest you will have paid £150. Plenty of people are paying £200 for 15mg pens that only give them the same suppression you can get from 1.5mg.

Obviously I wouldn't want to be ill for weeks like you have but if I could have lost all my weight on the cheapest cost pen there is I would be very happy.

owlyboo · 24/09/2024 20:05

Did my 2nd jab of 5mg today and just started having diarrhoea again. Only lasted a few days last week and wasn't horrific so hoping for the same (to be fair makes a nice change from being the other way which I seem to be for the rest of the week!

Still seem to be having lots of energy with MJ luckily. Hit 25k steps today (I will be ready for bed in a minute though!!!)

ChunkyMunky · 24/09/2024 20:10

Been making an effort to eat today, but checked my fitness plan, and I’m only at 646 calories with 53g of protein. I don’t think I can face anything else. This is the most I’ve managed all week.

2nd 5mg is due tomorrow but I’m going to push it back to Thursday as the suppression has been so strong.

Choux · 24/09/2024 20:51

@ChunkyMunky I'd think about dropping the dose to 3.75 or even a week back at 2.5 if you have only averaged about 500 cals a day on 5mg. You must be tired as hell with so little food consumed.

How much did you lose over the duration of the 2.5mg pen? If it was a lot you might be able to stick to that for a few more weeks and then move up very slowly only if you need to.

Choux · 24/09/2024 21:05

Actually @ChunkyMunky I just scrolled back during the as break and found you lost 1.5 stone on the 2.5mg. That's massive and you should still lose well if you stay on that dose.

Go back down to 2.5 mg and get that spring back in your step 😁

NippyCrab · 24/09/2024 21:05

It's low mood that's been my side effect, not good for me at all. I'm going to try the lower dose this weekend and see how I go.

Choux · 24/09/2024 21:05

Ad break!

Glittermoonlight · 24/09/2024 21:07

Interesting hearing about such different responses to this medication. Unfortunately I don’t feel any different on the 5mg as I did in the last couple of weeks of 2.5. Also my weight hasn’t changed in the last 2 weeks, despite strict calorie counting, high protein healthy diet. Drinking lots of water. I have a feeling I might be one of the people who needs a much higher dose.
Changing the subject I was wondering what sort of scales everyone is using? Do you have the ones which measure fat etc…? I’m thinking about ordering some new ones. Wish I had got some new ones when I started now.

poppym12 · 24/09/2024 21:12

My experience with the first 5mg was similar @ChunkyMunky, I couldn't even get to 1000 calories - and the constipation was annoying.

Even though I was dreading it, I did my second 5mg jab on Sunday and I've been ok since. Suppression is good but I'm starting to feel hungry at meal times.

I didn't lose any weight last week though even though my calorie intake was lower than it should have been Hmm

ChunkyMunky · 24/09/2024 21:32

Thanks @Choux yes I lost quite well on 2.5mg but I was feeling the suppression reduce towards the end. It’s all a bit trial and error isn’t it. I’m happy not jabbing tomorrow, I don’t feel that I need it yet, I’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. Energy levels have been a bit better today than earlier in the week, but they’re rarely fantastic (even pre-MJ).

@poppym12 that sounds good (the right level of suppression, not the constipation!).

I’ve not weighed yet on this pen, I’m trying to just look at one month at a time rather than getting hung up on little fluctuations. Have had constipation for the last 3 days (after 4 days of the opposite problem), so wouldn’t necessarily expect a yet loss anyway.
