I had a call from a lovely lovely man from Oushk who saw my post on here and he's said he would get Hira to call me, and she did. She was absolutely amazing, she explained everything how it works and how my brain could be affected, and that it's the medication and not me. DH is stuck in traffic on the A9, think it's moving now, there was a bad accident. It's a bank Holiday in Scotland, sorry I don't know who said what. He won't be home until about 7ish now. Hira has said I can call her, message her if I need to, I wouldn't do that but if anyone is looking to have a new prescriber it's Oushk.
I feel a drama queen but I feel better knowing I can increase one medication tonight as a one off and call the GP Tuesday.
Thank you to everyone on here. I am usually quite normal xx

So glad you feel happier and spoken to someone

I actually feel I should move straight away after reading that !

Just took first dose of 5mg, had to do it a day early this week, haven’t done that before, so Friday can be my new injection day.
No weight loss this week, but no gain either, so I’m happy with that! Definitely felt ready to move up from the 2.5 starting dose.
How is everyone disposing of the pens? Obviously the needles go in the sharps container. Are you putting the empty pens in there or just the regular rubbish bin?

MissFancyDay · 20/09/2024 17:40

@Glittermoonlight

I haven't disposed of my 2.5 pen yet, I am holding on to everything in case I need it as I intend to move pharmacy soon to get access to better long term maintenance.
But when I do I will wrap it well and put it in the household bin.

Wingingit11 · 20/09/2024 17:41

I keep the box and put pen in black bin

Glittermoonlight · 20/09/2024 18:02

Thank you MissFancyDay & Wingingit11 - very good idea to keep hold of the box incase I change pharmacies, I hadn’t thought of that.

Reading about mj, it seems most studies on it were carried out over a period of between 72 and 84 weeks!
Its definitely not to be considered a quick or easy fix!

Yes, to put into perspective that’s 18-21 months. Costing around £3,000-£4,000 worth of pens.

I took a photo of the label on my box, then disposed of the box and pen in a normal bin. Taking the photo just in case I change providers in the future as I have read some ask for it as evidence of your previous prescriptions.

NippyCrab · 20/09/2024 18:40

Hira had mentioned that because it's a relatively new drug they are still finding out things such low mood etc, not her exact words but same meaning.
Thanks all, I don't want to derail the thread anymore but you are all brilliant.
I don't feel like much in the way of dinner tonight so I'm going to have ryvita, ham and tomato with philli.

Frightening isnt it! I have given myself until 31st October 25 to reach my ultimate goal and that will bring me in at just under £3k 😬
Though I am hoping to reach before then, but want to go slow to minimise loose skin😦

MissFancyDay · 20/09/2024 18:59

I knew that it was relatively new for weight loss but I always imagined that it had been around for a while to treat diabetes. Maybe I was wrong.

Glad you are feeling reassured @NippyCrab

MabelSpan · 20/09/2024 19:02

@NippyCrab So pleased you were able to speak with someone and got some advice and support😊

The higher doses are mainly reserved for weight loss and some of the side effects are becoming more evident with this. I’m sure she’s explained something around brain chemistry before with Wegovy too. I’ve asked about low mood on the thread for tomorrow so hopefully she covers it in the live.

MabelSpan · 20/09/2024 19:10

Its interesting that Oushk are watching this thread and probably all of the mj threads. I guess all the providers will be. It never occurred to me that companies would be reading all this!
If Asda Online Doctor are reading this, you need to offer price matching, loyalty discounts etc or you will lose customers!🙂

Boots told me to take my pens back to them and they will dispose

NippyCrab · 20/09/2024 20:20

I'm going to set a reminder for the live tomorrow.

Pinkjenny · 20/09/2024 20:31

Due to have my first 5mg tomorrow, I've got away with 2.5mg so easily, I'm absolutely kacking myself!

happygertie · 20/09/2024 20:45

I did my 1st 5ml injection yesterday. I was worried as 2.5ml was smooth sailing and so far 5ml has been the same. Felt a little bloated last night - I did my injection then immediately ate tea so think as it kicked in it slowed my digestion down. I have had a couple of peppermint teas and upped my water and been totally fine

Thank you for letting me know! I'm veery concerned Confused

JohnCravensNewsround · 20/09/2024 21:49

I'm about to take my 3rd 5 mg dose. I am drinking electrolyte mixture each evening to counter act dehydration which I think caused constipation last week. Had the opposite previous week!
I am having 100g skyr in the morning. 55 cals About 250 cals for lunch then about 650 cals of an evening. Add in milk in tea and the odd extra serving of yog or fat free cottage cheese and it's 1000 to 1200 a day.
I'm doing fine on that. Have upped my Steps to around 1000 a day. Will see what tomorrow brings but I'm hoping get through the 12st plateau.

ChunkyMunky · 20/09/2024 22:42

Not a bad day today, have been keeping busy and enjoying the absence of food noise.

Although the diarrhoea has improved for most of the day, my stomach feels as if it’s bubbling away like a lava lamp, so I suspect it may return.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the chances of diarrhoea? I’m taking loperamide when needed, but would really like to figure out how to prevent if possible, as it’s both unpleasant and inconvenient. I thought my initial bouts were due to eating food that was too fatty, but I’ve literally only had 3 rice cakes and 2 boiled eggs over the last 48 hours. I daren’t eat anything more adventurous in case it makes this worse.

At this point I would say that I’m living on a huge calorie deficit but not really shifting to healthy eating habits as I’m too nervous about setting off my digestive system! Not great for long term maintenance really.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2024 17:23

Yes I lost a stone before mj

Hence nearly 2st lost but .13 on mj

And why I'm grumpy lol

Just read about someone who has lost 2st a month. Tho that seems extreme

But ignore me. I'm just grumpy lol

If I don't lose next week after 21 days /3w Iof no loss - I don't know what I I will do BM!!!!!

To lose 2 stone in a month really isn’t healthy. 1-2lbs a week is a perfectly healthy and much more sustainable weight loss. I’ve just taken my 4th injection and only lost 6lbs so far despite being really careful and (mostly) sticking to 1200 cals/day. So I totally understand the disheartening feeling. I’m just gritting teeth and trying to trust the process!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2024 23:14

@Fourfurrymonsters oh def 2stone in a month is concerning

But not sure of what weight they started at

Just peeved more isn't coming off after nearly 2mths

I would be happy with a lb a week

But to lose nothing for a few weeks ........

Pinkjenny · 21/09/2024 00:09

The girl on TikTok claiming to have lost 2 stone in a month is barely eating.
