I typically have a protein shake for breakfast, a chicken and avocado bagel for dinner, then something like curry/pasta/steak for tea. Sometimes I’ll have a rice cake or a couple of chicken pieces as a snack. The food I eat has always been pretty healthy, just too much and too many snacks. I used to eat chocolate/sweets every day before MJ, literally haven’t had any sweets at all since starting, and a couple of tiny desserts. Life changing.

Solidarity @ChunkyMunky. I've struggled since my first 5mg on Sunday but last night was awful. Weird burps, nausea and constipation for me.

I finally ate something an hour ago, rice and a slice of bread. I just can't face any of my usual go-to's for protein so it had to be the blandest food I could find.

When did you do your injection?

I’ve done all my injections in my stomach. I feel a bit weird about going in my thigh, can’t really explain why, maybe because my tummy is soft and wobbly but my thighs are fairly firm (at the front at least!).

I know we should be aiming for protein-rich, nutrient dense foods, but when the suppression is strong I only want a bit of very bland, plain dry carb. I’ll have to make an effort to build in more protein and veg once I’m feeling less 🤢.

I would say that I’m definitely enjoying food a lot less now. Food is, at best, ok. It’s never really more than ok, and is quite often underwhelming. I’m taking this as a good sign, and a step away from my old relationship with eating for celebration or comfort. Food is just fuel now.

@eeeeeeeee I'm only in my 3rd week but so glad I decided to go for it. What I hadn't expected was that MJ would cancel out my desire for alcohol.

I admit that has been a struggle pre MJ, but now, wow, what a difference. I'm just not interested. And I'm really content to have a peppermint tea while dh is drinking a beer.

weaseleyes · 19/09/2024 21:11

Overall I think I'm glad. But over the past few years, I've dieted successfully for several months, but usually never quite got to my goal weight before putting it on again. And sometimes it's taken me months to be able to start to diet again afterwards. MJ has really made it easier to start - which is great - but when I'll be really converted is if I can keep going - past the point I usually give up - and actually reach a healthy BMI. Then I shall make MJ a rosette and toast it with a large glass of water.

I know it’s only been a short time, but is anyone else super happy that they made the decision to try Mounjaro? I genuinely think it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in such a long time. It really has lifted such a weight off my shoulders (alongside literal weight of course!)

I think if I didn’t try it, I’d have continued to gain weight with my lifestyle a month ago. Work has been really stressful and I piled the weight on rapidly over the last 3 years. Although that stress isn’t resolved, Mounjaro has given me control of my diet/willpower which is something I have been struggling with for a while. It makes the future feel a bit less bleak, I think being a healthy weight again is in reach.

Yes, me

I feel more in control of my food and therefore my health.

Cravings for sweets, chocolate and crisps currently have disappeared. Thinking about food as a reward for myself gone.

It's strange but very good!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 21:38

@Mum0ntherun what you wrote I agree but thought I was going mad

I have had an ankle issue the last 2yrs since falling over. Had it pinned - constructed and in plaster over the past 18mths and tons of physio

Consultant basically said I will be the best I will ever get and will never be as I was before the accident

In lots of pain and swollen

I have arthritis in both ankles, left knee and now found have severe osteoarthritis in my hips

But

Weirdly enough the pain seems less recently. Not so aching

Thoight I was imagining it

Surely there is no way that mj can help joints is there

I Havnt lost enough to make a diff in weight loss v pain

Mum0ntherun · 19/09/2024 21:47

@Blondeshavemorefun there’s started to be a lot of discussion on it. I read this: Some researchers think that Mounjaro may reduce inflammation that causes osteoarthritis. This is because Mounjaro is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which may decrease inflammation throughout the body.

Also we’re all getting lighter so less stress on the joints. My knees are so much better and I’m not walking with a limp.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 21:53

I would be interested in finding out more info

I haven't lost enough to make a diff weight wise as I've lost 1-2 stone before in the last couple of years and still had pain in ankle and hips

Where now I still have pain and doesn't like wet weather but def seems less swollen or sore

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2024 07:56

Ffs. STS

that's 2w plateau now and starting to piss me off

After a good start and loss of 13lbs and now nothing lost again

Def think need 7.5 as 5 isn't cutting it for me 🥲🥲

FlappingMadly · 20/09/2024 08:37

Morning!
Fun and games this morning. You might remember my pen was stuck. So this morning I used an insulin syringe to retrieve what was left in pen and it was just over 4mg. So a nice bridging dose. Weigh day and am disappointed not to have dropped another kg. Haven’t gained though so hoping I see movement soon

FlappingMadly · 20/09/2024 08:50

All very interesting points about inflammation. Peri menopause also causes aches and pains as we lose oestrogen in all sorts of random places. I used to take the stairs one at a time my ankles were stiff but no longer! I am envious of the losses I see but am loving getting my energy back. Random NSV - pretty sure my toes are looking skinnier 🤣

NippyCrab · 20/09/2024 09:22

Weigh in for me today, I've lost 6oz, I'm full of 💩 the lactulose is kind of working thank goodness.
Question, does where you inject really have a different effect of the body? I normally jab my thighs but because I had a rash I did my tummy last week. Cue constipation which I've not had before despite taking regular co codamol. Anyway, I think I will inject again on the thigh as I got a rash and dark patch on my tummy too.
Hope everyone is okay this morning xxx

AuntieDote · 20/09/2024 10:07

Another night of cramps, sulphur burps and trapped wind/ needing a poo type feelings keeping me up half the night. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as it has been though - wasn't actually sick and, whilst the pains were enough to keep me awake, I wasn't quite in sobbing in the bathroom territory!

So last night I had chicken breast, 2 baby potatoes and some carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Not sure what in that it was that set me off, or whether this really is a pattern of 2-3 days after every injection my guts are going to kick off, make me utterly miserably for another couple of days and then ease off again in time to start the next round! Not sure I can keep it up if so, but want to at least finish the pen and a half I have left in my fridge!

I feel a bit better this morning, still crampy and like I need the loo although nothing doing. I've bought some lactulose and then a big box of fybogel to have one a day going forward, plus stocked up on peppermint capsules. Have also had a crate of kombucha drinks delivered - this whole thing is costing me a bloody fortune even on top of the actual injections.

AnnieMcFanny · 20/09/2024 10:38

I take my 3rd 5mg dose and Sunday and yesterday I ordered my next pen and it will be 5mg again. I’m doing great on it though I do occasionally have things happening that I assume are occasional side effects but at least they don’t last. And if once I’m on the next 5mg pen it starts to feel less effective I’ll try to stick it out but if I have to I’ll just increase the dose using clicks and order the next strength next time round.

I find with Mounjaro I have the patience for trusting the process and I just know the weight is slowly but surely coming off so I’m not jumping on the scales a few times a day like I’d have done previously when trying to lose weight. It’s a really nice feeling

I’m losing 1 or 2 pounds a week and I’m happy with that. In fact I wish people would be kind to themselves and stop looking for the larger amounts we hear of people losing because the fact is - it’s not happening on a healthy amount of calories/food per day. Sometimes we have to be careful what we wish for.

Food wise it was always portion size and sweet things that were my downfall so I’ve not had to make changes to what was a very good way of eating previously. My meals were almost the best they could be but in my head they had to be like that to compensate for being a fatty who’d have chocolate everyday in secret.

breakfast is always a choice of two things from the following plus a very good quality slice of bread/toast and cherry tomatoes alongside - so

2 eggs alone, or one egg, hummus, avacado, smoked salmon or a salmon fillet.

Today it was one egg and smoked salmon with toast plus a very coarse dark bread with seeds and nuts.

Lunch is a choice of protein with vegetables or salad and a grain.

Dinner is really the same as the above but it would be a more elaborate meal so something that’s needed time and attention when being made as I really do love a nice dinner. Today it’s a homemade Thai green curry made with fish and Thai veg alongside jasmine rice. Sometimes I’ll have the
leftovers for lunch the next day.

Im currently away from home but I’ll still be cooking
and I won’t be weighing myself again till the 6/10th and I’m at home with my own scales.

poppym12 · 20/09/2024 10:46

For those experiencing constipated, 3 or 4 days of Movicol seems to have helped. I have woken up with a migraine today though which usually heralds a few urgent bathroom trips.

On a different note, has anyone noticed that they smell differently? Stinkier more quickly? I'm finding that none of my usual trusted deodorants seem to be working properly and it's just not possible to shower again part way through the day.

MissFancyDay · 20/09/2024 12:09

Weigh in and jab day

SW 16st 12lb
CW 16st 0lb

Total loss in 6 weeks 12lb. So I'm sticking to my average 2lb a week loss which I'm more than happy with.

I can see the difference in the mirror, my clothes are looser, and there is about an 1.5 inches off all my areas.

Other benefits, my ankles are less puffy, my wrists are thinner, my tummy doesn't ache and I don't seem to be having as many migraines as usual. I wonder if that is because of a drop in bp.

Drawbacks, weeing in the night is making me tired, constipation, food noise has been replaced by Mounjaro noise, nausea in the morning.

But overall I'm really thrilled about it and excited to carry on and see what's in store.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2024 12:23

@AnnieMcFanny I would be happy losing 1/2 a week so 4/8 a month

This month I have lost 2 lbs - that's a very costly 2lbs - £75 a lb 🙀🙀😡😡🥲🥲

Hence why I'm rather fucked off today

I don't think mj works for me

Maybe I'm going to be in that low % that it doesn't

FlappingMadly · 20/09/2024 12:42

@Blondeshavemorefun big hugs. Your post sounded down. I know I sound like a big old nag, but are you measuring yourself? Plateaus are important for metabolism. Hang on in there.

lmmj15 · 20/09/2024 12:42

I did my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Tuesday night and suddenly nausea as crept in and I’m feeling pretty meh 🫤

Azuresky68 · 20/09/2024 12:46

Newbie in August. Usual weight loss without MJ is a pound a week, and it's so hard.
I am only 4 foot 11
4 weeks on 2.5, moved up today to 5 mg. No side effects on 2.5 mg
SW 11 stone
CW 10 stone 4.5
Goal 9 stone Top end of my BMI is 8 stone 12 so I will see how I feel.
Tracking my calories and macros with MFP. Average calorie intake is under 1000 with 1 day when I eat 1250 plus do a HIT session. Been on a 2 week holiday so really over moon with my loss.
Good luck to all.

Azuresky68 · 20/09/2024 12:48

@AnnieMcFanny totally agree with you about 1 - 2 pounds a week and being kind to yourself 👍

Azuresky68 · 20/09/2024 12:50

@eeeeeeeee I am on week 5 and feel the same..it's liberating. Been a yo yo dieter all my life and last 10 years have worked so hard to keep it under control. Happy days!

Timetochange24 · 20/09/2024 13:03

End of week 4 for me.

SW: 14 St 0
CW: 12 St 13.5 lb
I was absolutely delighted to see that 12 this morning! After two weeks of big losses I've settled into more sustainable loss of about 1kg/2lb a week. Fingers crossed that will carry on.

Due to move up to 5mg on Sunday but I have a big meeting Tuesday and an interview Wednesday morning so I'm worried about side effects knocking out my prep time or making me feel rough on the day. Should I take a smaller dose Sunday or wait until after the interview for the full 5mg??

wohmum · 20/09/2024 14:19

I’m due to have my third injection on 2.5 tonight, but just back from a week’s holiday where I have probably eaten more than I would have at home .although no where near as much as I would have done before MJ

I had lost 4lb in the 1st 2 weeks so interested to see what I am tomorrow morning. I feel
like I’ve put on … so posting here to keep me accountable. I am terrible for letting a change in the wrong direction scupper my motivation!

weaseleyes · 20/09/2024 14:22

@Timetochange24 Personally I'd take a smaller dose Sunday. You could always top it up later in the week if you felt like it, or just do 5 the next week. This may be because I'm a wimp, though!

End of week 5 for me, and I've used 3.75 from a 5mg pen because I am side effect averse and I seem to be doing ok so far. I lost 2lb last week on my bridging bonus dose of 3.3, making 21lb in total since I started. This brought me into the next stone bracket, which was fab! If I lose one more lb, I'll have lost 10% of body weight and a third of what I want to lose. This is good news, though also daunting.

On 3.75 I feel a bit more like I did after the first jab, so appetite fairly suppressed and a bit woozy/queasy, but not actually unwell. However, I seem to feel worst two-three days after the jab, so I'll hope it doesn't escalate too much. It's all very well me scheduling jabs so they don't interfere with work, but then I get fed up with my off work time being spent feeling weird!
