Thank you @HereIfYouNeedMe and @HamAlive. I thought it would have worn off a bit since Sunday morning but last night was rotten. I haven't eaten yet today but I'm not feeling sick at the moment, just sipping an electrolyte drink.

Part of me thinks I should persevere and hope that the second 5mg doesn't cause me to feel like this but the other part of me thinks I should maybe do 2 smaller doses. Maybe 2.5 on Sunday and the other 2.5 midweek or whenever it seems to stop working. Problem is, I felt nothing from 2.5 during weeks 4 and 5 so I don't want to mess it up!
Nor do I want to feel ill as we're moving house so have lots to do.

Timetochange24 · 19/09/2024 14:24

Does anyone know how long a pen stays cool for in the post? My medexpress order was dispatched Tuesday but not likely to get here until Friday which seems a long time for an ice pack to do its job.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 14:30

It should be ok for 48hrs

Mine was 72 and warm and I complained and they sent me another one free

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 14:31

All you who suppression is working well - green eyes flashing lol

Do you not eat at all or miss a meal but eat 2 a day etx

Or eat but much smaller portions

HamAlive · 19/09/2024 14:40

I tend to have breakfast and dinner but don't need lunch.

lookathatbookcase · 19/09/2024 15:06

@Blondeshavemorefun I eat much smaller portions and/or a regular-size meal but eaten more slowly. I still try for 3 meals a day - if I miss one I still get the shakiness/wobbliness from what feels like low blood sugar and then find it harder to make good choices later.

MissFancyDay · 19/09/2024 15:41

@Blondeshavemorefun I eat 3 smallish meals in a restricted timeframe as I'm doing intermittent fasting as well. I have, for example:

2pm - protein yogurt and strawberries
5pm - omelette and cheese or smoked salmon with a piece of sourdough
8pm - chicken, new potatoes, salad

I try to stick to 1250 cals and I also have a couple of coffees and half a protein bar. I don't seem to feel hungry in the morning, but i've been doing intermittent fasting for a while so I'm used to it, and like not bothering in the morning.

I'm on week six, so 5mg, and I wouldn't say that I had great suppression, but I certainly feel really full when I've had a small meal, so I suppose that is suppression. I've only lost about 12lbs so about 2 a week, but that's what I want at this stage.

Also, have to add, I'm semi retired and work from home, so I have the freedom to eat when it suits.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/09/2024 16:11

Thanks. I have 3 meals tho smaller than Usual

Assume that was better then not having a meal and body semi starving - or when we are finally off mj to be used to eating 3 meals

On the what do you eat thread many only eat 2

So was wondering if as I'm eating 3 but small , that's why I'm not losing weight

Redlightbulb · 19/09/2024 16:12

An update for anyone interested.
3rd week of 5mg
6 weeks since starting MJ.
I have lost a stone in total. Yay! only another 7 to go!.
5mg has been weird. Following my 2nd injection on 5, I had a couple of days of feeling really quite nauseous for parts of the day and for the first time I struggled to eat for about 2 days. I thought wow.. this is really kicking in.. maybe it will mean I stay on 5 for another month. 3rd injection on 5 has been a completely different story and the appetite suppression has been so so.
Had nausea for a brief period one morning, but then had a bowel movement and the nausea disappeared like magic. The fullness feeling after eating is still there but wondering if I do move up to 7.5 next month after all. I have another dose to go on 5 and the golden one to decide.
Also been taking probiotics the past week as I had the sulphur burps. Thankfully they have largely gone now.

Snoopsteandcooper · 19/09/2024 16:29

I'm losing very slowly. I'm not sure that in terms of cost it's worth it. I'm on 5mg now and week 7. 11lbs lost in total (big loss 1st week and then v slow). I will give it another few weeks and see where I'm at. I can usually lose 1lb or so a week doing low carb, but finding doing low carb on MJ makes me constipated and I feel sluggish.

MissFancyDay · 19/09/2024 16:31

@Redlightbulb I'm second week on 5mg and have days when I have waves of nausea, which are worse when I haven't "been"

At the moment I'm jogging along nicely on 5mg but it it still involving slightly too much food noise for my liking. So I'm of a mind that I will increase to 7.5mg after my bonus dose. But I'll see what next week brings.

NippyCrab · 19/09/2024 16:38

@cosylife I normally have a home made granola with yoghurt, a banana and berries. I've not made a new batch and the last 2 mornings I've had weetabix, it's not one I would normally buy but my husband likes it. I had it with some milk to soak into the bix and topped with yoghurt a banana and berries. Unfortunately it turned my stomach a wee bit, the texture, and I did feel like I could have eaten something earlier. Normally I would have a boiled egg, and some ham for lunch or a ryvita with philli and tomato but today I had sourdough because I was hungrier and it lying like a rock in my stomach!
I'm still on 2.5mg and suppression okay. Xx

MidLifeResurgence74 · 19/09/2024 16:45

NippyCrab · 18/09/2024 20:38

@MidLifeResurgence74 that's awful, hugs, have you felt like this the duration of taking MJ? If you have been losing and felt okay on 2.5mg why not drop back down. I'm on my second 2.5mg pen and if I keep feeling the effects and losing I want to stay on that. I emailed Oushk and they said they were happy to give me another 2.5mg and see how I feel when I'm due to order again. X

@NippyCrab i think I’ll defo stick with 2.5 but I’m just not sure whether for me the good outweighs the bad.

Redlightbulb · 19/09/2024 16:49

@MissFancyDay
Sounds like we are the same.
I am mindful of not pushing through the doses if I don't need to.
Think I will order the 7.5 so that I have more options. If it comes to it I can just count the clicks to make it 5.
Re nausea.
It was just amazing that it disappeared so quick after I had been to the loo. I would say even mid loo (TMI!)
I guess it was putting pressure on something making me feel sick.

MissFancyDay · 19/09/2024 17:24

@Redlightbulb

Yes, I idealistically imagined that I might sail through on 5 mg but I am certainly prepared now to go up. Zavamed do start to suggest reordering halfway through the month, but I will hold off until at least next week, plus I have ordered insulin needles now to do the bonus dose.

the full 15mg does seem an awful lot and I do have trepidation about stopping cold turkey if I am at that dose. So definitely will see how I do.

eeeeeeeee · 19/09/2024 17:58

I know it’s only been a short time, but is anyone else super happy that they made the decision to try Mounjaro? I genuinely think it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in such a long time. It really has lifted such a weight off my shoulders (alongside literal weight of course!)

I think if I didn’t try it, I’d have continued to gain weight with my lifestyle a month ago. Work has been really stressful and I piled the weight on rapidly over the last 3 years. Although that stress isn’t resolved, Mounjaro has given me control of my diet/willpower which is something I have been struggling with for a while. It makes the future feel a bit less bleak, I think being a healthy weight again is in reach.

MissFancyDay · 19/09/2024 18:59

Just in case anyone is interested, Iv'e got a craze for these at the moment. They are rice cakes but so tasty. I have chutney and wafer thin chicken on them.

MissFancyDay · 19/09/2024 19:01

@eeeeeeeee yes I love it, I feel in control and hopeful.

ChunkyMunky · 19/09/2024 19:09

Ooooig the 5mg has hit me like a steam train. Nausea, cramps, sulphur burps, and now I’ve got the runs too. I’ve not managed to eat today, but have had plenty of fluids. I’m freezing cold too, and tired.

Rough as I feel, I’m actually ok about it. I know it doesn’t last more than a few days, and overall this working for me. I can feel and see the difference in my body, so it feels worth it. I am very grateful to the person on an earlier thread who recommended bulk ordering loperamide online though!!

I typically do 2 meals per day (breakfast & evening during the week / lunch & evening at the weekend). Feel like I need to change up my breakfast though. I started off with cornflakes & banana, then shifted to bran flakes & banana. But the bran flakes feel too sweet now. I want something super bland first thing. I know lots of people are using yogurt / smoothies etc, but I’ve not fancied dairy at all on MJ. Might try ryvita next.

lookathatbookcase · 19/09/2024 19:11

@eeeeeeeee Honestly same. I think because I found it impossible to lose weight before I'd resigned myself to just getting heavier and heavier and blindly comfort eating; and just accepting that my misery about I looked was just an ineffable part of life. Going on MJ and being able to lose weight and reset my eating has been life-changing. I know that other parts of my life aren't perfect but this has both taken away the buffer where, when I couldn't deal with my sadness I would just /eat/ to block out the world; and has made me much more confident about making other changes.

cosylife · 19/09/2024 19:14

Thanks for all the breakfast suggestions! Will give some a go.

@Blondeshavemorefun i tend to have 3 small meals but often need to remind myself or force myself to have lunch. I’ll either have a protein shake or a yogurt to keep me going.

@eeeeeeeee its honestly one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I’m lighter, more active, happier and nicer to be around. I’m calmer and more patient with my children and husband and feel so liberated not to be obsessed with food. It’s literally changed my life for the better. I’m only on week 5, but the change it’s made already have been phenomenal.

NippyCrab · 19/09/2024 19:20

@eeeeeeeee yes! I've never stuck to anything this long and I'm not wavering or stopping until my goal weight and I've maintained it for a good while. I feel I'm off that roller coaster of food, trying to be "good" and then thinking oh ffs one will be okay, or feck it it's wasted now I will start Monday. The only thing I'm concerned about is my flab, due to mobility and fatigue I need to be careful with what I do. Xx

Mum0ntherun · 19/09/2024 19:29

I’m so pleased I’m doing this too. I’m 56 and perimenopause kicked in for me about two years ago - with a bang! I’ve really piled the weight on, about three stone, to be honest I need to lose three stone before that anyway 🥹. On top of that I damaged my knee at the gym and found out I had osteoarthritis in it so trying to do any exercise for the last two years has been pretty impossible.

Since being on MJ one of the side-effects (besides the weight loss) is a seeming reduction in inflammation on my knees. They are less swollen and less painful and I’m walking much more freely. I’m feeling so much happier in myself too, and I haven’t felt like that for ages. So I’m really thankful for this drug. Long may it carry on.🥰

Redlightbulb · 19/09/2024 19:34

@eeeeeeeee

What it has done is given me willpower which I am still lacking at the moment.
The amount lost so far I could have done on my own and would normally have done so if my mental state was better (not a basket case! just suffering from some depression atm. In part due to the mega weight gain since Covid)
It has given me a crutch to get things back on track.
I have had zero binges since starting. The urge to binge has significantly reduced as I am just not craving sugary/fatty stuff so much. Before MJ a couple of hours after dinner I used to feel hungry and then cravings started.

poppym12 · 19/09/2024 19:35

Solidarity @ChunkyMunky. I've struggled since my first 5mg on Sunday but last night was awful. Weird burps, nausea and constipation for me.

I finally ate something an hour ago, rice and a slice of bread. I just can't face any of my usual go-to's for protein so it had to be the blandest food I could find.

When did you do your injection?
