I've just done an online questionnaire for cyclizine but it's not suitable apparently as I take fexofenadine already.

What about general tablets for motion sickness? They might work, or you could speak to a pharmacist, they know their stuff.

MabelSpan · 16/09/2024 16:41

I did the 800 fast diet a few years ago and I loved it. I lost 5 stone in 6 months. Then of course put it all back on again over the following 9 years.
I was kind of back on it before mj but perimenopause hit me bad and I just couldnt handle all those symptoms plus crippling cravings that I couldnt get on top of.
So here I am on mj and hoping this will do the trick.

weaseleyes · 16/09/2024 16:54

That's pretty much the diet that works for me @MabelSpan. I can lose on it really well - once I get through the first two painful weeks - and then I usually feel good, but I fail when I think I should be able to eat a little more and a few carbs like a normal person. I'm basically doing that diet now, and treating MJ like a bonus motivator, as I just kept trying and failing to get through those first two weeks all year! Am hoping I do better when I get down to goal weight. And like @eeeeeeeee, I'm pretty short so I don't have as much room to eat like a normal person as I'd hope, as normal people are much taller. Damn them! :)

MabelSpan · 16/09/2024 17:04

@weaseleyes dont forget if you cook, chill (or freeze then toast in the case of bread) and reheat your carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta etc it increases the amount of resistant starch/fibre quite dramatically. So you can have some, just prep them beforehand or cook a few days worth at a time😊

MelainesLaugh · 16/09/2024 17:41

I managed a hard twist of my pen today! I was so pleased with myself I managed to stab myself in the finger when i put the needle in the sharps box!!!

First 5mg dose today, it’s actually two days early but I’ve been having no suppression the last few days and it would’ve either been two days early or one day late. I’ve got a second 2.5mg pen so I did my bonus dose hard twist and then 2.5mg from the second pen. I know it’s not going to add at the end of this pen but I wanted to see if I could do the hard twist if that makes sense!

Wingingit11 · 16/09/2024 18:30

Sorry for the random thought but wondered if anyone knew more about this.
if you go quickly up doses, does the 15mg stop working too in about the same time ie for some a month? So do you need to apply some thought to how much you’re looking to lose and try to divide it roughly across doses ?!

I've bought some Stugeron so hopefully they'll help. Thanks @UniqueLemonOrca and @MabelSpan.

It did ease as the day wore on but it's back with a vengeance now because I felt like I should eat something.

Arraminta · 16/09/2024 18:42

Hi just checking in. After a really good loss of 10lbs in 4 weeks I have now completely stalled. Not lost a single ounce in 8 days despite eating no more than a thousand calories per day and zero junk food. I increased to 5mg last Thursday and have good suppression but getting fed up about this plateau.

AnnieMcFanny · 16/09/2024 18:59

Arraminta are you eating enough? A thousand calories a day seems very low.

JohnCravensNewsround · 16/09/2024 19:08

I need to dig deep at this point. Had second 5mg jab on Friday. Followed by constipation ( I think I was not drinking enough) followed by the opposite. No weight loss this week, despite 10000 steps a day and no more than 1250 cals a day. I am short so that's the right number for me. Typically 300 cals for lunch, 600 for dinner a couple of protein yogs a day.
I know I need to keep going. Lost 12 pounds so far but I always get to 12 stone and fail to get below 12 stone and get disheartened.send me strength to keep going!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/09/2024 19:28

Seems a few of us on 5 have halted this week

Plateaus are a natural part of weight loss! I really do know how frustrating they are but you must expect them and it's how you deal with it is what is important.

You're doing really well, just keep going and have a read of this.

Keep going!

Ive just posted the plateau article above and it really helps to understand why we have them! It's natural!

And I was the same, and went on to lose more, give yourself time.

JohnCravensNewsround · 16/09/2024 19:59

Thats very helpful x

I've wondered that myself? I've tried to eat a little more today to see if that might kickstart me again.

Arraminta · 16/09/2024 22:02

And I finally understand why my body could hover comfortably around 12 stone 8lbs, whilst eating junk and chocolate, because that is my 'set point'. I can lose the 8lbs or so quite easily but then it's like my body slams the brakes on. Now I understand that this plateau is necessary I feel much better.

Back before peri menopause my set point was always around 11 stone and was for years and years. And back in my twenties it was always around 9 and a half stone regardless of what I ate.

poppym12 · 16/09/2024 22:03

I haven't really lost anything during my 2.5 bonus dose week. I'm glad I'm measuring though as since 12th August, I've lost 3 inches off my hips and 3 off my waist. Sadly not much change in the thunderthighs yet.

LastTimeLosingIt · 16/09/2024 23:16

Weigh in day for me.

5 x 2.5mg
1 x 3.25mg

Lost 2.5 stone / 35 pounds / 17kg / 12% of body weight.

Feeling much better. Constipation still an issue. Injected 5mg today.

MidLifeResurgence74 · 17/09/2024 05:24

Oh goodness August crew. I’ve been awake every two hours with explosive watery 💩 and I feel worn out and weak 😢I ate a bag of chocolate buttons at about 3.30pm. I just wanted the sugar and the comfort (old habits). By 7.30pm I was contorting in pain and then it started. I’m away at an event for work and delivering a presentation today. Is Imodium the solution this morning? Lesson well and truly learned.

Wingingit11 · 17/09/2024 05:44

Oh no @MidLifeResurgence74 what terrible timing! I’d get some Imodium in you asap!

Imodium as soon as possible!

Timetochange24 · 17/09/2024 06:50

Oh no - hope you find some relief with immodium and that the day gets better for you. What awful timing.

I'm trying to order from Medexpress for my 5mg pen - is there a way to skip telling the GP about it? I didn't think Medexpress insisted on it?

No, I don’t think you can skip GP awareness, as it’s mandatory to check that box to proceed. (Plus it seems with the new tighter regulations, all providers will have a similar approach.)

However in practice I don’t think they have actually contacted my GP, as I can’t see it on my medical records.
