@Blondeshavemorefun that's frustrating you had no loss this week! The 'whoosh' effect is real though so keep doing what you're doing! Maybe weigh fortnightly? I know how disheartening it can be! I lost 3st on one2one a few years back and I think I'm on less calories now, without the nutrition! Probably why I feel so rough.
I need to do a decent food shop for myself next week. Been doing hellofresh in the evenings and getting the whole meal in but Friday-Sunday I'm not really eating. Just thinking out loud as I'd like to do 5mg long term

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/09/2024 16:42

They say stay on a dose if working for you so no need to move to 7.5

Where I don't think 5 is working much for me

7.5 arrives next week. All been approved and guess I will get it mon /Tue

AnnieMcFanny · 15/09/2024 17:55

I’m due to take my second 5mg dose tonight but I don’t feel that I need it. Do I have to take it? Can I delay it till I feel that I need it.

Wingingit11 · 15/09/2024 18:03

@AnnieMcFanny I went from 2:5 to approx 3 bonus doe, 3.75 and then 4. The 4 really waned but you don’t have to move up if it’s working !

So I had my 2.5 late Friday night from my 5mg one as my 2.5 pen stuck. But am a bit worried about the 30 day thing and am thinking of using a syringe for a top up dose on Tuesday or maybe wait until Friday and use the whole lot - 2.5+bonus. Decisions decisions. ..

AnnieMcFanny · 15/09/2024 18:18

@Wingingit11 thank you. It’s not about moving up it’s that I’m due my second injection of 5mg this evening but I don’t feel the need to take it. It’s working really well for me.

lookathatbookcase · 15/09/2024 19:12

@AnnieMcFanny From the Mounjaro site:

"Make sure there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses. If you miss a dose of Mounjaro, take the missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day"

https://mounjaro.lilly.com/how-to-use-mounjaro#how-to-use

I think if you go for 2 weeks without a dose, you need to move back to 2.5 but I can't find a reference for that/

poppym12 · 15/09/2024 19:54

I took my first 5mg this morning. Felt fine until about half an hour ago and I have a really painful gassy feeling under my left ribs and feel a bit nauseous.

I haven't eaten a big meal but I did eat a bit of mexican style rice. I eat a lot of things containing chilli and have had no ill effects during my 5 weeks on 2.5.

Would gaviscon help? Or should I be taking something else?

owlyboo · 15/09/2024 20:05

Hello everyone.

I lost you after the first thread closed! Found you again! To much to read through but hope to catch up on all your future posts.

I've just done my last 2.5 (I topped up with the 'bonus' dose and moving to 5mg this week. Had three weigh ins so far and lost 11lbs which I'm pleased with!

On another note I've found the jab seems to be helping with my anxiety. As well as quieting food noise it also seems to be stopping those anxious thoughts I usually get! Especially in the last week!

Also it seems to have stopped the wine oclock cravings! Didn't have any wine at all last week apart from Friday night (as I was on a night out) which is unheard of! Literally haven't thought to want it.

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 15/09/2024 20:23

@AnnieMcFanny - I found that my bonus dose was still working well, I took 3.75, so left an extra day before taking the 1st 5mg. (And still only took 3.75). I’m going to leave 8 days if I can and see how it goes.

Hi all! I started 4th august, 18lbs down. I'm on 5mg, took my second injection Friday. I feel awful!! So fatigued no matter how much I sleep. The suppression is really strong and I know I'm not eating enough. I can have 2 poached eggs on toast and then forget to eat anything else for the rest of the day. I think I've got myself into a bit of a cycle, not eating enough so feeling tired, then moping about waiting for the next nap opportunity!
I want this to work so I'm clearly going to have to force food in so I have more energy!

If you lost 4.25lbs last week and are feeling ill since dose 2 of 5mg on Friday, it sounds like 5mg is too much for you.

Have you read about the half life of the drug? It's 5 days so every time you inject you are topping up the Mounjaro levels still in your body from previous injections.

If I were you I would drop back to somewhere between 2.5mg and 5mg for the next injection.

Choux · 15/09/2024 20:26

@AnnieMcFanny yes you can wait up to 4 days and see when you feel like taking it. But if 5mg every week is too much you would be better to do say 4mg every week than do 5mg every 9 days. Ideally you need to find the right level where you can inject the same dose each week, get decent but not excessive suppression and lose 1-2lbs each week.

20bloodypounds · 15/09/2024 20:48

@owlyboo I'm the same with the lack of wine craving. I was cooking dinner this week and dh had gone out. When he got back he was surprised I hadn't opened the wine while I was cooking (my usual habit Blush). It just hadn't crossed my mind.

HereIfYouNeedMe · 15/09/2024 21:06

@Choux thanks so much for your advice! How do I do that? Just turn it before I gets to the '1'?

Choux · 15/09/2024 21:11

When you wind out the plunger it takes 60 clicks to get to a full dose (the 1 mark). So three quarters of the dose is 45 clicks, half a dose is 30 clicks etc.

eeeeeeeee · 15/09/2024 21:15

My progress has definitely slowed down, I think I will maintain this week. Overall I have lost 8kg since I started and have around 15kg to go…so I’m trying to look at it from the positive side; I have already completed a third of my progress which is good. I’m trying not to dwell on the plateau as this is a stubborn weight for me. I’ve been able to get down to this weight before, but in recent months ended up gaining. The fact I’m able to maintain this weight is good because it shows my eating habits have adjusted

Funny isn't it. The other side affects. I've managed to stop any weektime wine and gone from going to bed at silly oclock to being in bed by 10 reading for a while... seems like it's helping to reduce the noise of a lot of my bad habits

HereIfYouNeedMe · 15/09/2024 21:30

@Choux thank you that's really helpful. I'll do that on Friday

WitchDancer · 15/09/2024 21:36

Evening all. I've done my second 5 today and the effects kicked in after about an hour. That was good news as I needed the suppression!

I just feel really flat and in the dumps about this at the moment. It didn't help when I jumped on the scales yesterday morning and it showed a stone gained. It wasn't correct I hasten to add, it's the batteries going again (Note to self, cheap batteries are really not worth the saving), but it does mean I can't see if I am loosing weight. Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning!

I can see everyone loosing great amounts but I'm really not. It's probably because I'm not calorie counting, but I really don't want to do that. Meh

I was determined not to make this about calorie counting as I want it to be a lifestyle change, but what I realised is that I often kid myself that foods are less than they are 😁, and so I have found the calorie counting helpful at this stage so that I can be realistic. I have been in deficit but up to 1700 calories (not often had that amount, to be fair), and my logic is if I plateau, then I know that I have space to reduce calories again. I'm on my 4th week of 2.5 and down 12 lbs in the three weeks so far. By calorie counting, I know where I've had a hiccup (wine!), which is useful so it might be worth a try as much of a pain in the bum as it is to do. Good luck next week x

Hi everyone, this is a great thread!

Im trying to get the 5th dose from the pen and have been able to get the dial to move from 0 fairly easily. It only moves a few clicks tho and I wondered if I’m supposed to keep twisting til it gets to 1?
TIA

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/09/2024 23:01

You have to give it a very hard twist

I think o put in my mouth/teeth and bit and twisted it

Oh Dear God! A wee word of warning to anyone who has not yet had a glass of wine since starting the medication - DONT!!!!

I very rarely drink at all but yesterday evening I had 1 glass of wine and within half an hour I felt as if I’d been swimming in a barrel of it. And this morning I feel the same. I’m dizzy. I’ve been sick and my tummy is playing up.

Ive had to cancel everything I was doing today and I’m in my bedroom nursing what must be a hangover. Thank goodness I didn’t take my second dose of 5mg yesterday because I hate to think the of the state I’d be in today.

And thank goodness this happened at home and not on Wednesday when I’m travelling and I had my usual glass of glass of champagne on the plane. They’d have had to pour me off at the other end - at the very least

Honestly, that glass of wine was not worth this and I’ll never go near alcohol again when on Mounjaro. Maybe not even ever again full stop.
