I've stayed the same weight for a week now, not overly annoyed as at least I haven't gained but I do feel the stirrings of frustration.

But really I shouldn't, should I?

As I've lost 17lbs in 35 days and then stayed the same weight for another 7 days so, big picture, it's fine.

FlappingMadly · 14/09/2024 10:33

@Pinkjenny i know you know it but just reminding you that 1lb is amazing gift to your body. And the scales are moving in the right direction.

LOL at birthing a poo 🤣

Wowsers @NippyCrab that’s epic! Massive well done. Hurrah for 12!

@cosylife that's incredible! How exciting!

This is why I ordered the higher dose (7.5mg) for my next pen. (Interestingly I ordered it yesterday and it’s already been delivered…super fast service!)

I didn’t want to risk any stalls or plateaus. I know I can’t control them, but I want to do as much as I can to avoid them.

I’m on week 2 of 5mg and although it’s working well, I definitely have slowed down in progress. Thursdays are my injection days. 5mg has been quite chill - I haven’t had any side effects really even though I’m in the thick of it. My cold has gone away now and I can attribute any weirdness I had last week to that, as I feel normal now.

FlappingMadly · 14/09/2024 10:41

@Princessandthepie so you’ve lost more or less 3lb a week? Wow!
Are you measuring yourself? Have you adjusted your calorie intake to your new weight? Don’t worry, it will pick up
again soon.

Thank you. I am quite disappointed but on we go!

Princessandthepie · 14/09/2024 11:11

@eeeeeeeee you will have stalls and plateaus, it's a perfectly normal and natural part of weight loss. Your body needs time to adjust to a new weight before losing more. It may be easier to accept that rather than fight it. This article is an interesting read.

I'm not sure if it was this group or continuing mounjaro thread but whoever recommended this book, thank you it's really interesting so far about how our bodies and fat actually work.

Princessandthepie · 14/09/2024 11:23

@FlappingMadly thank you.

I have measured and I've lost nearly 5 inches from my waist.

Calorie wise, I'm using my fitness pal and it does adjust itself as my weight goes down. I'm on 1220 calories a day and i can't even eat that much.

Yesterday's food was
Breakfast - Bran flakes with blueberries and protein yoghurt, coffee with milk, collagen supplement
400 calories
Dinner - chicken salad
405 calories
20g protein drink
89 calories

I was full up! This is pretty much what I eat most days. The other day (day before injection) I did eat more as I felt hungry enough but I was still only at 1200 calories for the day. I have breakfast around 11am and then dinner around 6, try to drink plenty of water but I'm full so can't eat more.

I'll have a look for that in the library!

I'm not allowed to buy any more weight loss books!

MissFancyDay · 14/09/2024 12:22

Well done everyone on your losses and NSV's @Princessandthepie 5 inches is massive!!

It's the morning after my second 5mg jab and I'm feeling so much better than last week, when I was so nauseous I could have stayed in bed all day. Also 2lbs down so I'm going into the weekend with a spring in my step.

Also I finally told Dh about getting myself on MJ yesterday, during a nice coffee in Next. He was a bit shell shocked, mainly because he didn't know anything about the drug (apart from all the misleading news stories) and partly because I can be quite anxious. Anyway he was very supportive and understood my reluctance to tell him, he has had a lot of other stuff to cope with at the moment. We also had a lovely chat about all the walks and places we can go when I am healthy weight, and can have my knees fixed.

So all good...sorry for the derail.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/09/2024 12:26

@Princessandthepie that sounds good but

I didn't lose anything this week and only a lb last week

Hence think I need to do 7.5/10 in time

I feel hungry

No suppression

lookathatbookcase · 14/09/2024 12:31

@MissFancyDay Oh well done - that must be such a relief to have that conversation done, and go so well.

Another week where supression has ramped up again by the end of it? Will prob stick with 3.75mg for another week then, and also buy some insulin needles to attempt a 5th dose in a fortnight's time. 2lb loss, which feels very reasonable.

I've started thinking about the clothes I want to wear when I'm in sight of a GW and honestly it's nothing fancy - I just want to look good in jeans, a grey t-shirt, and New Balances :)

MissFancyDay · 14/09/2024 12:34

@Princessandthepie Don't be disheartened I didn't lose anything last week either, but I weigh myself every day because it makes me feel better to see the fluctuating line.

This is the last few weeks of my weight and the green lines are official weigh in Fridays. The last two were the same but it is still an overall pattern of weight lose.

@lookathatbookcase thank you, yes mine's jeans as well.

FlappingMadly · 14/09/2024 13:05

I am losing and changing shape and very happy with my journey. but no suppression, could always eat. I’ve just had a split toasted panini roll with half an avocado, 2 eggs and tomatoes and still could eat. This used to hold me for hours. I’ve just realised that might be down to switching to GF. Understanding that has made it easierr to cope with because I know it will pass.

FlappingMadly · 14/09/2024 13:10

@Princessandthepie 12 cm off your waist is amazing!
Great link about plateauing.

@MissFancyDay so glad you had that conversation. Good to have his support.

Princessandthepie · 14/09/2024 13:25

I've just done my 2nd 5mg jab and suppression is still strong for me do. The headaches have certain eased off too but still feel quite tired.

I am actually OK with a plateau, it's part and parcel of any weight loss but it is still annoying at the same time.

Before on a diet, I would feel far more down about it but this time, it's OK. I had a plateau a few weeks ago and still lost after so it's all good.

I'm trusting the process!

weaseleyes · 14/09/2024 13:44

Agree @Princessandthepie. Intellectually I know full well it's predictable and expected to maintain some weeks, but it doesn't stop it being annoying! I do feel more confident that MJ will give me the ability to endure these periods without giving up. Weight loss is an exasperating mixture of psychological work and physiological factors.

I've got 16lb to go before I reach the weight I managed to reach last Christmas through normal dieting (which was still way above where I wanted to be). I only put on about 3lb over Christmas and ate pretty sensibly, but I just couldn't get back into my stride and kept on eating the foods that I know tend to send me into unhealthy patterns if I eat them more than occasionally, like bread, sugar etc. I'm going to have to rethink my Christmas strategy this year as I'm determined not to do the same. I'm assuming I'll still be on MJ as I don't think I'll be near my goal weight by then. It's often mainly just me and my daughter, so I have to think about how to give her that nice sense of Christmas largesse about food without having tons hanging around that I feel obliged to eat because I can't stand waste, even though me eating it is also a form of waste. I know I still won't be able to stand waste, so I'll have to be much more strategic in my buying and cooking without being too ghost at the feasty.

FlappingMadly · 14/09/2024 16:20

Is there a graphic for how many mls per mg?

NippyCrab · 14/09/2024 16:34

@MissFancyDay that's brilliant you've had that conversation and he's supportive, it will be so much nicer sharing this journey with him.

Hello, sorry to ba a pain and ask the same thing again but what insulin syringes are you using for the extra dose? I did have a screen shot and I can't find it.

NippyCrab · 14/09/2024 17:00

@MabelSpan thank you 😊
