Hello everyone, and well done on some fantastic losses! I have a few questions if anyone can help with any, please?

  • A while ago on the threads, I remembered people being quite negative about Oushk but can't remember why. Has anyone any experiences please? Also, I've seen them so a Blue Light discount, but does anyone know how to apply it?
  • Does anyone have experience of Care and know what their maintenance policy is, please?
  • Is there any disadvantage of switching suppliers several times? Like having lots of different letters on your GP record - does it matter? Unfortunately, I need to chase lower prices.

I'm hoping to order a 10mg this week, so thank you for any help!

Edited

Hi! Oushk were questioned because of their links with Curate, who seemed to be acting in a borderline fashion in terms of providing codes via influencers. But I know that someone posted to say they’d talked to Oushk and were happy with their response.

I only order from Care Pharmacy. They’ve never let me down, always send out when they say they will and although they don’t enter the code race, appear to me to honour their promise to price match. So I don’t need to do any research. I’d recommend them if you just want a good service with no drama!

No disadvantages to shopping around. I am the person who scans and files correspondence at our local GP practice. Nine times out of ten I don’t send Mj letters to the GPs to look at at all. I only ever send the 2.5mg letter, just in case the patient isn’t obese. Even if it is the 2.5mg letter, if I can see from the patient’s pop up on screen that they’re eligible for weight management, I don’t send it to the GPs. And certainly none of us would even notice if you changed supplier, never mind have an opinion! Shop around to your heart’s content!

hope this helps!

That is really helpful, thank you so much! I'm really tempted by Care - I'd like to find somewhere with reasonable prices and just stay there. Do you know their ideas about maintenance please (although I'm miles away from that 🤣)?

NewLifter · 29/08/2024 21:12

Yes I agree, Curate were really the issue. A lovely poster reassured us that they spoke to Oushk and actually they only prescribe for curate - that's all.

I'm personally not a fan of jumping about, I've ordered my three pens from Zava so far and plan to switch to Oushk and then stay there.

You email a picture of your blue light card to Oushk for £15 off.

Sorry, I don’t,I’m a long way off too and figured that gives them plenty of time to figure out their position. Remember there are other providers you can swap to for maintenance even if you’ve never bought from them before…but honestly I wouldn’t have thought any provider would want to miss out on returning business if they didn’t need to!

“1ml 30g 8mm measuring tool + free alcohol wipes” sold by Tetra-Sole

I got these from Amazon because the needles are shorter and the long ones frightened me 😀

Sorry I don’t know how to do a link!

Edited

@SnacklessWonder If ordering from Amazon, make sure they state "Sterile" as some of them don't so may not be suitable for injecting

Pinkyp22 · 29/08/2024 22:13

If you have the nhs app, you can see the letter sent to your GP 🤣 I was curious.
I also work in a GP surgery, and not a great deal of attention is paid to these letters.
Edited to add... Had another look and independent pharmacy have sent a letter to my GP for every pen I've order 🤣

Ooh yes, good point well made, these are sterile and individually wrapped but some aren’t, you’re right.

They will be declined if their pictures don’t match the BMI they’ve given.

Even some who didn’t ask for pics are now asking for them so I think they’re aware of people fudging their numbers.

It’s interesting… I was really surprised I was prescribed for my first pen as my bmi was 31 but on the cusp of 30 (I had lost a few pounds on my own first). But I was genuinely surprised to be accepted so quickly without additional questions. I did have to send pictures, and I do have an underlying health condition. But I can see how people could try to game the system. I’m glad I was accepted though as I’m loving MJ!

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/08/2024 22:59

@Pinkyp22 The Independent Pharmacy are the suppliers for Chequp who I have been with and they have written to my GP each time too.
I am just in the process of changing supplier so will see what happens next!

I've now switched to medexpress and there's nothing from them as of yet!

Snozzlemaid · 30/08/2024 00:48

My GP has received a letter each time a pen has been prescribed for me, so there are 4 now in the documents section on my NHS app.
One was MedExpress and the other three Zava.

ThirdStorm · 30/08/2024 06:13

I have several letters from medexpress on my file. I noticed the last one was much shorter than the first few and just confirms BMI with height and weight info with a note to call if there are any questions.

Peggy148 · 30/08/2024 07:12

I’ve just ordered my 7.5mg with MedExpress. I’ll do the price match, is there anyone offering a cheaper price than Family Chemist (£159/pen)?

Congratulations @Slimstar13 that is a lovely morning update!

After commenting earlier in the week about finding weigh ins less motivating now I'm close to goal, I've done it this morning and lost another pound, which I'm really happy with.

I'm back to work next Weds so I'm hoping being back in routine will help get the last few pounds, and also help remind me to actually weigh. 😂

weaseleyes · 30/08/2024 07:54

What an amazing achievement @Slimstar13!

Yes!!

Eyf · 30/08/2024 08:11

Weigh day today and it says I’ve lost 3lb though I’m not sure lol if there’s 14oz in a lb and I’ve gone from 11.1 to 10.13 isn’t that 2lb loss?!

having a moment.

first week on 5mg has been good, have noticed the urge to snack come back from around yesterday.

I’ve used ZAVA and esurgery and can’t say anything on my GP app about MJ.

@Slimstar13 👏

I've got over my stall and am now into 2 digit kgs!! 98.7kg this morning (15st 7)

I'm off to an exercise class for the first time today, I'm not sure what I need to do re eating generally don't eat till 1pm at the earliest as it just sickens me, should I shove down a banana or a protein shake an hour before or something?

CatTraveler · 30/08/2024 08:15

So put my brave pants on and decided I was going to do the bonus dose next week using a syringe but the one that was recomended on here is out of stock so I wont get it in time. I have just gone into a google black hole trying to find another supplier and I think this one is ok. (8mm needle, 1ml capacity). Can anyone confirm this please?
