I am towards the end of my first pen and plan to use the bonus dose.
When trying to extract the bonus dose from a pen are we able to still count clicks accurately?
As a control freak, I want to know exactly how much is in that dose and was planning to use a syringe to be sure, but if anyone has successfully counted clicks, with ease, after the hard twist that would be great as I have a spare needle in my box.

WitchyBits · 29/08/2024 12:10

I've just ordered the second pen and gone up to 5mg, swapped to med express and used a voucher off this thread. I'm feeling pretty positive tbh.

Starting weight 9/8. 17st4lb
Todays weight. 29/8. 16.4lb

I've not been mega strict. Just making smarter choices. Fruit and Greek yoghurt for breakfast. Snacks and small meals with higher protein /less carbs than I would normally choose. Still had the occasional treat . Had a takeaway twice but got a mixed kebab and just ate the meat and salad/veg. Very happy tbh !

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 29/08/2024 12:14

@MabelSpan you will still only be able to wind the pen out to 1 which will be 60 clicks and no more so no chance of getting more than the 0.6ml but obvs may be less.

I use a syringe and have had over 0.6 both times.

Worried8263839 · 29/08/2024 12:15

Where is the best/cheapest place to order? If anyone has a discount/referral code they could DM please id be super grateful. Thanks!

SnacklessWonder · 29/08/2024 12:23

Have DMed you @Worried8263839

I am 1lb off today, first loss this week, it's slow for me but still on 2.5mg

I did a hard twist today for the first time and honestly I’m not a fan. You could count the clicks the first time, but then I saw there was still loads of Mj left. So I changed the needle and twisted again. That time there weren’t really clicks as such and there was still Mj left. So new needle, repeat. Then there’s still some left because the end of the plunger doesn’t fit right to the end of the dose, so I got that out with a syringe. What a faff. I bought a whole box of the tiny needles like the ones we’re supplied with, but honestly I wish I’d just pulled up my big girl pants and stayed with the syringes I originally bought. Much easier.

ItsAlrightDarling · 29/08/2024 13:42

I’ve done the hard twist and the syringe methods and syringe is much, much easier.

Snozzlemaid · 29/08/2024 13:50

I was scared about using a syringe for 5th dose the first time I did it, having never used one before, but it was easy and really good to see exactly how much was in the dose rather than not really knowing how much you're getting if you do the hard twist.

SnacklessWonder · 29/08/2024 13:52

Which syringes do you get?

poppym12 · 29/08/2024 14:38

I've seen a useful video of how to remove a dose from a vial but not a pen. Is it exactly the same procedure?

Without knowing what the vial process was that you have seen, no one can comment on whether it's the same process to get it out of the pen.

I don’t know what you’ve seen, but you wipe the red end of the Mj pen with an alcohol wipe, stick the syringe through the red end, suck up all the remaining Mj into the syringe, withdraw the syringe. Hold syringe upright, tap its reservoir to get the bubbles to the top, gently expel a bit of the Mj to ensure the bubbles are out. Inject. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Thank you. I wondered because when using a vial, you draw the empty syringe back to the dosage amount and 'inject' the air into the vial then draw the liquid out. I couldn't see how this would be possible with a pen as the plunger is already down so thanks for clearing that up for me.

Choux · 29/08/2024 15:59

Aaah. I have done several bonus doses and last week, for the first time, I injected an unspecified amount of air into the pen before then drawing out the liquid. It made it much easier to get every last drop out so I made a mental note to always do that in future.

As I injected the air the plunger inside the pen moved back up the pen. The outside plunger didn't move at all.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/08/2024 17:38

3wDavid · 29/08/2024 08:04

yes you can, 2 jabs, 2 new needles

@MelainesLaugh I saw a post from a US doctor talking about doses from vials who said, if having to inject twice, try to inject the second as close to the first as possible rather than in different sites.
I'm not sure if there is any evidence to support that though

Rorpethy · 29/08/2024 17:47

Has anyone else been getting mouth ulcers since starting?

I use these https://www.shdmedical.co.uk/needles/bbraun-omnican-1ml-30g-syringe-individually-blister-packed/

Ifyounevergiveup · 29/08/2024 19:34

“1ml 30g 8mm measuring tool + free alcohol wipes” sold by Tetra-Sole

I got these from Amazon because the needles are shorter and the long ones frightened me 😀

Sorry I don’t know how to do a link!

diian · 29/08/2024 20:10

Just given blood. Apparently you burn 650 calories for each donation! The nurse advised eating the crisps after donating; this is to replace the salt lost. It is weeks since I had crisps.

SnacklessWonder · 29/08/2024 20:26

Thanks all for the syringe tips!

Forevafatty · 29/08/2024 20:28

Hello everyone, and well done on some fantastic losses! I have a few questions if anyone can help with any, please?

  • A while ago on the threads, I remembered people being quite negative about Oushk but can't remember why. Has anyone any experiences please? Also, I've seen them so a Blue Light discount, but does anyone know how to apply it?
  • Does anyone have experience of Care and know what their maintenance policy is, please?
  • Is there any disadvantage of switching suppliers several times? Like having lots of different letters on your GP record - does it matter? Unfortunately, I need to chase lower prices.

I'm hoping to order a 10mg this week, so thank you for any help!

CelestialNexus · 29/08/2024 20:29

fuck thats a lot to go

Forevafatty · 29/08/2024 20:35

So sorry for the dreadful formatting on my post - I can't seem to fix it 😳!

ThirdStorm · 29/08/2024 20:51

@Forevafatty i think Oushk were linked to Curate who seemed to be selling via TikTok referrers who then got MJ for free and it all seemed a bit dodgy. Oushk are their prescribers but Hira seems very competent and knowledgeable so I’d have no issues with Oushk. They also have an innovative approach to maintenance too. Re GP letters, I suspect most of our letters aren’t being read and certainly no attention paid to who their coming from.
