I've had a bit of a bumpy ride recently. Went up to 7.5 a while back but shortly after had a very busy and stressful couple of weeks with a sick relative resulting in nausea and poor eating (more due to travel, irregular hours, hospital food options, etc than piggery).

I stayed on 7.5 for a second pen as I was worried about increasing just in case the nausea was MJ rather than stress and was getting back into a routine and healthier eating but, for the last week or so, the urge to eat the wrong things has been really strong. It's really weird as I have a strong urge to eat but a lurking nausea that sometimes, but not always, overrides it.
I have used dose 3 of my second 7.5 pen today so have injected my full dose and an extra 10 clicks, which I think makes 8.75mg, and have ordered a 10mg pen in the hope the move up is needed and will help
Getting back into a routine now of healthy food, lots of fluids and protein

Anybody think the increase sounds right or not, or got any thoughts or suggestions please?

GoodLuckBabe · 28/08/2024 22:41

@QueenOfHiraeth not very constructive comment but for some reason your use of the word ‘piggery’ made me laugh so much..😂not sure why, it just tickled me..
Not sure about the dose as I am still down in the shallow waters at 2.5mg but I have slept really badly this week (peri-menopause) and have found the urge to eat much much stronger. So hopefully now you are back on a bit more of an even keel you will feel fewer cravings..

Ifyounevergiveup · 28/08/2024 22:48

@QueenOfHiraeth for me the clue is always the urge to eat. If that comes back, or isn’t squashed in the first place; move up. Hope things are looking up now. Keep us posted!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 29/08/2024 05:16

@NewLifter I am not sure that Oushk are so against individual variations, they just have that disclaimer in their fb group.

My impression of them is that they are fairly individual patient focused so maybe just phone and ask. At least you'd find out if they're the prescriber for you 🙂
(Disclaimer - I am not an Oushk customer so have not personal experience, just a lurker on their fb group!)

I feel like this is an incorrect statement, in the sense that we do know the long-term side effects. While the use of this drug for the purposes of weight loss is new; the drug itself has been used for the purposes of diabetes for over two decades. Also the drug doesn’t discriminate what purposes it’s been taken for. It is by no stretch of the imagination a new drug.

But diabetics have different physiology, it's impossible to know if it's a good idea long term for people without diabetes to take it. Diabetics need thr increase in insulin production but non diabetics don't, it's impossible to know the impact. Also there's a far larger amount of people taking it now so rarer long term effects have a better chance of emerging allowing patterns to be identified.

Many diabetics have been on a cocktail of other drugs also and may have comorbid conditions so who knows if health issues they develop are blamed on that rather than MJ?

I don't for a minute think that we know with certainty that MJ is a safe drug.

Ok so I was interested in moving to Zava but I've noticed I wasn't able to add the 2.5 + 5mg bundle to my order and could only choose between single pens. Also, I couldn't choose the Saturday delivery that they say elsewhere on the site that is possible to book.

Does anyone have experience with this with them? I'm already a Mounjaro patient, I'm just interested in moving to them because of costs.

I was able to order the bundle from the start - did you scroll down?

I've never had the option to choose a delivery day. Oushk are the only pharmacy I know of that do.

NewLifter · 29/08/2024 06:00

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/08/2024 22:09

@NewLifter A friend of mine has a pharmacy business and is setting up a weight loss branch of the online side. I know their prescriber is not averse to counting clicks as he was telling me about a patient having to do this. They are fully set up, insured, etc but are not actively marketing themselves yet as the website is not fully ready. PM me if you get stuck and I can pass on details

Thanks will bear it in mind!

Thanks, they definitely are against it, I've spoken to them before. I respect it though as I understand they need to follow prescriber guidelines.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 29/08/2024 06:23

@NewLifter thanks, that also is good to know👍

SilverHeels · 29/08/2024 07:01

@QueenOfHiraeth it sounds like you need to increase the dose if the food noise is back.

I am in a similar situation but for different reasons and reading your post made me think about how food, eating and emotions are so closely linked for some of us.

I have taken a week off weighing and thinking about weight loss to kind of ‘re set’ and will resume next week when the obligations of the last couple of weeks are done. I will do my 1st 10mg on Monday and crack on with my journey.

I have learned that this journey is not linear and we all have bumps in the road but this drug has given me the tool to actually get to my destination for the first time in my adult life and is life changing.

SilverHeels · 29/08/2024 07:21

Just thinking that I have not hit the ‘fuck it ‘ button and eaten lots I mean I have not been able to choose my food when away. I am still eating and drinking far less than I would have pre MJ.

I don't for a minute think that we know with certainty that MJ is a safe drug.

This is my sense too. However, as I know I am carrying some significant risks linked to obesity and other health conditions, it feels an informed risk worth taking.

2nd 5mg last night, and definitely feel nauseous today. That headache is back too. Hopefully it'll only last the morning again. 🤞🏻

I really need to weigh as well at some point, keep forgetting. Im so close to the end, that loss is quite slow, so it's not as motivating as it once was!

MelainesLaugh · 29/08/2024 08:03

Does anyone know if you can take two doses of 2.5mg to create a 5mg? Stupid me ordered another 2.5mg pen instead of a 5mg one

yes you can, 2 jabs, 2 new needles

livingwithpmdd · 29/08/2024 08:37

@JaneFallow @NewLifter @3wDavid I'd also mention that drugs get taken off the market/banned/adapted years after they are introduced as new side effects occur when they are used on mass. So I too don't think we know everything about these drugs good and bad.

I've been taking MJ since April and lots of new positive research has been done since, meaning we absolutely don't know everything about it.

As @NewLifter said it's new for weight loss so we are all part of this new use of the drug.

atlanta1 · 29/08/2024 08:37

Advice please, jab day today but have had really bad diarrhoea overnight 🤢 don't think it's MJ related as I'm on week 10 and haven't had it before, more likely a bug or something I ate. I'm feeling better this morning, but do you think should I wait a day or two to make sure it's passed?

3wDavid · 29/08/2024 08:41

@atlanta1 I'd jab today as per schedule; but make sure you stay hydrated and if need be take imodium.

Oh this is a nice post, made me smile. Congratulations, you’re nearly there!

ItsAlrightDarling · 29/08/2024 09:15

I’ve hit my first stall after 13 weeks of consistent losses, annoyingly it’s when I’m 0.2kg from a healthy BMI 😂. Oh well. Hopefully by next week I’ll be there 🤞

Fromthesidelines · 29/08/2024 09:31

@QueenOfHiraeth I'm on my 4th 7.5 jab and also started to experience some cravings for sweet things a week or so ago. Which is a bit odd as I've never really had a sweet tooth, so they weren't my undoing. I did wonder if my body was trying to tell me something - low blood sugar maybe? - so decided to eat a biscoffi biscuit that I had in the house. It was disgustingly sweet! One bite and I threw it away. I have, without being keto, been generally lowish carbing so I slightly upped my carbs for a few days - small helpings of pasta, brown rice, Sourdough. That seems to have quieted the hunger pangs and cravings and I'm still losing after a stall.
Bonus dose on Sunday and then up to 10 because of the pangs although I'd hoped to continue on lower doses. Still wondering if that was the right decision but ordered when I was in the stall.

InspectorGidget · 29/08/2024 09:34

Just checking in from Italy!

We're back on Friday so will see what the damage is on Saturday morning but.....
Despite the food being awesome - I have not been able to over indulge and we've mainly ordered for 2 (I have a 10 year old foodie child!) and I've had some of theirs and still been satisfied.

I only ate too much at the wedding and that was purely because the food just kept coming and I literally was asking for 2 spoonfuls of each course.

We've done at least 15000 steps on our exploring days and I'm soooooo grateful for shifting the weight I lost from May (I think 19lbs but I'm in Italian mode) as we've climbed the tower in Pisa and the Duomo in Florence and I would not have been able to even 6 weeks ago. So the number on the scale when I get home will be a line in the sand.

It's been life changing for me.

I'm still on 5mg and will continue with that when I start my next pen. I took a dose the day we came out and had the bonus dose while here.

Ciao for now!

pinktransit · 29/08/2024 10:24

Weigh in and jab day for me today.
Ate processed crap yesterday, and put on a pound. Sigh.

SW: 12.6.6
CW: 9.11.2
IGW: 9.7.0

Loss this week 6 ounces.

Still a loss. Just.

I'm keeping at 7.5mg, as I (generally) have good suppression and make good choices.
Will order my next pen after payday tomorrow. I will have to tick the 'have you been on weight loss medication for 20-24 weeks' box on my order form, and see what happens then. I'm within a healthy BMI now, although right at the top end, so I'm hoping that there's no issue with ordering. I'm with Med Express, and they've said they will continue with maintenance within a healthy BMI so I'm not too concerned.
Will report back when I've ordered.

imnottoofussed · 29/08/2024 10:41

I think they may have removed that box as I didn't notice it when ordering this week. Although I may have not been paying full attention to the pre ticked boxes

Paperwhite13 · 29/08/2024 11:08

First time that I've been happy to have primed... the needle was broken! Luckily it happened before doing the full dose.

I also had a panic that it was because I'd thrown away the new pen (instead of the old one). 😮‍💨

SW: 240.8lbs (17.2)
