Thanks. I’m not referring to me but I’m seeing a few people making up BMI’s to get MJ and wondered if it was quite common…

They will be declined if their pictures don’t match the BMI they’ve given.

Even some who didn’t ask for pics are now asking for them so I think they’re aware of people fudging their numbers.

SilenceInside · 28/08/2024 19:48

Perhaps in the future it will be available for anyone at any weight who wants to drop a few pounds. But it isn't at the moment. What it has been approved for is a judgement of balancing the risks versus the benefits. It's only considered worth it for those with a lot of weight to lose or for those who have already been using it to maintain their weight loss.

If people dick about and lie to get prescriptions then it will lead to tighter restrictions, which will be a hassle for people who do actually qualify.

Ifyounevergiveup · 28/08/2024 19:50

@Flapearedknave meant to comment earlier on how wonderful your post was; sounds like all sorts of things are becoming wonderful in your world! Suffice it to say fingers crossed on the diagnostics front, for sure.

NewLifter · 28/08/2024 19:50

So tomorrow is injection day for me (10th Jab). I've found since increasing to 3.75mg my suppression gets better and better as the week goes on. Today is wild, I've eaten 600 calories all day and feel stuffed. Going to do a workout here which will hopefully build up some appetite. Still debating whether to drop back down to 2.5mg. my plan was to stay on 3.75mg for another couple of months and then drop down to 2.5mg for maintenance. I know I keep repeating it 😂 but I'm moving to Oushk for my next pen and am looking forward to taking advice from them as I see no point in even trying to contact Zava. Though Oushk are VERY against going off schedule (counting clicks) so not sure how I will manage to ask for advice 😂

NewLifter · 28/08/2024 19:45

Apologies, I shouldn't have assumed it was for you!

No worries 😌

poppym12 · 28/08/2024 20:04

Is this your first order with Cloud or a continuation @imnottoofussed ?

JaneFallow · 28/08/2024 20:10

And none of us know the long term effects - I do worry about any long term hormonal changes that will affect insulin production etc, although as PP says, we do know the health effects of obesity. I did find Johan Hari's discussion of risk in The Magic Pill helpful.

I have heard of people finding pics online and sending pretending to be their own! But that won't work anymore surely as usually suppliers ask for extra pics etc. So harder to fake. But I wonder if some suppliers aren't as strict with pics as others.

@Battlecat71 I don't think anyone on here has gotten it at a lower BMI. But I suppose some might not admit that they did! I know on Facebook there are probably a lot blatantly trying to get with only a small amount to lose.

There was a thread on Mumsnet a while back where the op had run out of needles as want asking if they could drink it.... Turns out they bought it from a friend of a friend who was nurse?! Also got it at a lower BMI than obese!

Kind of makes me a bit sad tbh because I think it shows a desperation to be slim at any cost. I think that society puts so much pressure on people. Fat is seen as the worst thing you can be. I’d much rather be fat than a horrible person!

When I took my pics for ZAVA I had to have a handwritten piece of paper in my hand with the date on.

imnottoofussed · 28/08/2024 20:23

@poppym12 second order with them

poppym12 · 28/08/2024 20:33

Thanks @imnottoofussed. Mine's the first with them as I used Voy for 2.5mg. Can you recall if your first order was just as quick?

Greyrockin · 28/08/2024 20:35

There are a few posts on the weight loss injections thread from people asking if MJ will help them to drop a few ‘stubborn’ pounds, clearly they aren’t obese. They are advised that they won’t get a prescription as they don’t qualify, but then the odd person has chipped in that they’re in the same boat and are using MJ (presumably by lying about their weight). One OP has admitted that they lied anyway to try and order, but weren’t prescribed it. Honestly, I think people ask the question and then just go away and decide to lie about their BMI and get fake pics or add weights somehow when they take weight pics.

I feel like this is an incorrect statement, in the sense that we do know the long-term side effects. While the use of this drug for the purposes of weight loss is new; the drug itself has been used for the purposes of diabetes for over two decades. Also the drug doesn’t discriminate what purposes it’s been taken for. It is by no stretch of the imagination a new drug.

Pinkyp22 · 28/08/2024 20:39

Surely anyone sending pharmacies fake pictures as in not themselves, would be spotted immediately when they upload thier driving licence or passport as ID? I know it's not a full length photo on your passport etc but a completely different person is a stretch?

Yes I suppose it could be people in desperation. But also people that are a healthy BMI but want to get to a low BMI or people with eating disorders that shouldn't be able to get it.

I suppose it could only be available to obese people because it shows they struggle to lose weight and might have other underlying issues that stops them losing weight the conventional ways (like most, if not all of us have been unsuccessful with in the past). Also, by taking MJ it might well make it harder to control hunger when /if you come off it. If you only have a small amount to lose, is it worth starting MJ if it means that you might well end up struggling when you come off of it..

Let's hope with these new requirements coming in, people aren't able to get them easily anymore. At the start some prescribers weren't that through. When I signed up to Asda initially I wasn't asked for passport /driving licence etc.

Some I've seen have lied about their height. This is probably harder to question for the prescribers.

I hadn't realised that was a new thing, all the times I've orderd I've been asked for a photo and ID
My first consultation with the independent pharmacy they actually rejected the photo I sent and specifically asked for one from that day wearing light colour clothing. Also did a verification thingy on my driving licence to verify my identity.
Clearly they have got wise to individuals trying to obtain it with no clinical need.

But this class of drug has only been licensed since 2022?

Yes I think they have become stricter for sure. Maybe asking for another photo to check it's been taken that day etc. A friend I told about MJ that I thought would benefit said she was asked for additional pics. So maybe they do this on purpose now.

There was a news paper article a while back where a reporter managed to get medication prescribed while being a healthy BMI. So since then prescribers have tried to fix the issues to make sure they are only prescribing to people that meet the criteria fully.

cakewench · 28/08/2024 21:30

Ok so I was interested in moving to Zava but I've noticed I wasn't able to add the 2.5 + 5mg bundle to my order and could only choose between single pens. Also, I couldn't choose the Saturday delivery that they say elsewhere on the site that is possible to book.

Does anyone have experience with this with them? I'm already a Mounjaro patient, I'm just interested in moving to them because of costs.

imnottoofussed · 28/08/2024 21:31

@poppym12 not sure sorry it's my relative that ordered. I don't think it took long to be honest with the first order. Are you going for a higher dosage than 2.5 maybe that's why they are not as quick if they have to check your evidence of previous prescription or something? Otherwise I don't think it's generally very quick for new customers elsewhere either

3wDavid · 28/08/2024 21:36

JaneFallow · 28/08/2024 21:01

You're right. I was referring to GLP1 medications as a whole.

QueenOfHiraeth · 28/08/2024 22:09

@NewLifter A friend of mine has a pharmacy business and is setting up a weight loss branch of the online side. I know their prescriber is not averse to counting clicks as he was telling me about a patient having to do this. They are fully set up, insured, etc but are not actively marketing themselves yet as the website is not fully ready. PM me if you get stuck and I can pass on details

@cakewench they seem to have upped their game now. My last 2 orders took a while from approval to actually being packaged and sent. But I ordered on Friday after 4pm (didn’t want it to get sent out over bank hol and be sitting in depot. Approved tue morning and arrived today 1pm nice and cold. If you need a discount code let me know.
