No it probably won't go on 7.5mg and it's likely it will get worse. Worst case scenario you will end up with non stop vomiting and diarrhoea and end up in hospital.

If you have permanent nausea then you should drop back down to 2.5mg for your next jab and then when you feel well again cautiously move up to 3, 3.5, 4 etc till you find the level that allows you to eat a reasonable amount of calories without too many side effects. This should then get your weight loss to 1-2lbs a week. A 19lb loss in 5.5 weeks is very fast - no wonder you feel terrible.

Speak to your supplier if you are unsure what dose to go back to or how to increase back up once your symptoms disappear. On the plus side your pens will always be cheaper if you only ever need 2.5mg and 5mg pens!

Thank you - I had a feeling that would be the case-I'll count clicks and do less than 5 on Friday and see if that changes my symptoms..

poppym12 · 27/08/2024 21:16

You're all probably a few weeks ahead of me so can anyone answer my question please?

Is there a full bonus dose in the 5mg pen as with the 2.5?

I'm going away just as my last dose of 5mg will be due and rather than take a new pen with me, I wonder if there's an extra dose in the 5mg pen which will suffice for the time I'm away?

I won't have to worry about keeping the new pen cold whilst travelling then.

QueenOfHiraeth · 27/08/2024 21:21

@Marmalade100 I was just coming to tell you what @Choux has just said. If you have side-effects or are struggling to eat it is probably better to reduce dose, not increase it. There have been some in this group have struggled with the increase to 5mg so have gone back and then come up much more slowly by counting clicks.

@poppym12 Yes, the bonus dose in each pen is usually more than a standard dose

poppym12 · 27/08/2024 22:29

Thank @QueenOfHiraeth. Taking that with me instead of a new pen will save a load of faffing.

Hi @poppym12

I used an insulin needle to draw the bonus dose from my 2.5mg pen yesterday - there was 0.70ml left so slightly more than a 2.5mg dose.

I guess what is left is dependent on the way you have primed your pen each time, but I think you should get a dose out of it.

Been quiet here on the thread, because it's absolutely not been in life!

New job, finding and moving house (moving date Thurs) and I've been referred to neurology for suspected MS. Sooooo it's been a lot here.

Dr happy for me to continue with.mj and happy with my slow but steady progress!

Finally below 13 and a half stone.
26/03: 16 stone 5lbs
27/08: 13 stone 4lbs

So 3 stone loss in 5 months. Nowhere near as quick as most, but im ecstatic!

3wDavid · 28/08/2024 06:56

Morning.

It’s ovulation week for me, so as expected I’ve been d*cking around up and down the same pound for the past few days. Even though I now semi expect it, as this is how it seems to work for me, I still get annoyed at the scales lol!

I’m off on holiday on Friday for 2 weeks, so was hoping I’d see the next number on the scales by then, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen now. Oh well. We continue.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 28/08/2024 07:10

Apparently put on over a pound today, but I know it's just water weight and everything evening out from my time away. I cannot believe that this is my life now. I can go without food for hours without even thinking about it

@Flapearedknave slow and steady? That’s fabulous weight loss! Do you ever reflect on how you would have been coping with such big stuff before Mj? - I would have been using food more as a drug than for sustenance! You should be immensely proud of yourself.

SnacklessWonder · 28/08/2024 09:13

Scales not budging again this week, trying to trust the process but can't wait to move up to 5mg. One more dose of 2.5mg on Sunday, I'm not going to bother with the 'bonus dose' as I'm getting so frustrated with nothing moving despite being in a good calorie deficit. Off to order my next pen.

Ifyounevergiveup · 28/08/2024 09:25

@SnacklessWonder o I feel your pain! I have my first 7.5mg arriving shortly but I’m too much of a Yorkshirewoman (!) not to use the fifth dose…there’s clearly more than the usual dose left in the pen so I’m seeing it as a bridge! It’s now 11 days since I lost any weight, bouncing up and down over the same two pounds. I genuinely don’t understand it, if I were just putting up with crushing hunger without Mj and eating as little as I’m eating now, I would be losing faster. But that’s the kicker; I wouldn’t be able to put up with the hunger and it’s no good pretending otherwise. I would have caved and eaten my body weight by now. That’s all that’s keeping me going, really; knowing that the only option is to return to how things were pre Mj, and asking myself how that was working for me…!

Measure yourself! If you’re in a calorie deficit there are changes in your body you can’t see. Scales haven’t moved for me since 2kg loss, but my top is clearly hanging lower. A win! We lose weight differently to men.

Ifyounevergiveup · 28/08/2024 09:28

@SnacklessWonder ps also remembering that it took me decades to put the weight on, so if it takes a couple of years to lose it that’s reasonable. I just don’t like reasonable 😀

SnacklessWonder · 28/08/2024 09:30

@Ifyounevergiveup Yeah I know what you mean, although I do think I could probably dig deep and lose the weight on my own, although it would be a lot harder. I successfully lost 2+ stone a few years back with no help but did have a wedding to focus on 😐 I am so annoyed at myself that I just got lazy and ate like a pig after that and have put myself back in the same place. Note to self: Don't do that again!!

@FlappingMadly I wish I had measured from the off as I have nothing to compare to.

FlappingMadly · 28/08/2024 09:38

@SnacklessWonder nevermind. Measure yourself now. Take a pic too, maybe.
But please trust me. Changes are happening.

Another medexpress update (sorry)
Ordered / consultation Sunday ( first time medexpress customer), dispatched yesterday
Its due to be delivered today (if royal mail can pull it off)

FlappingMadly · 28/08/2024 09:56

Ordered 5mg from Medexpress on Tuesday and it’s being delivered today.

SnacklessWonder · 28/08/2024 10:08

Just put my MedExpress order in for 5mg, I don't need it until 8th September though so plenty of time!

3wDavid · 28/08/2024 10:12

I must say, they've done something to improve their service (ME) - because I also had a surprisingly straightforward last order and quick delivery (ordered Mon, prescribed Wed, delivered Thu).

FlappingMadly · 28/08/2024 10:15

Sorry! I ordered late on Monday and is being delivered today.

GingerLemonTea · 28/08/2024 10:30

Boots update. I got my pen last night. 9 days after ordering & 1 days late for injection. Relieved to have it. Pharmacist said there was a delay as it’s now v popular. On 5mg.

just keep swimming GIF

@Jimmyneutronsforehead and @Ifyounevergiveup

Thank you for your kind words!

Don't worry, I am very very happy with my loss! It works out around 2lb a week and that is perfect for me!
And I am dealing with the stress as I usually do, I'm quite an optimistic person, so I'm all 'what will be, will be'.

My new home is gorgeous, and my new job is full of lovely people and my new boss has been incredibly understanding about my pending diagnosis.

I am concerned about the potential MS, but there isn't anything I can do, until I start having tests. So medicating the pain and hoping for the best.

Thanks again ❤️

Congratulations to everyone on your losses, and to those in a stall/up down situation, I've been in 3 of those so far, and every time I've come out of it with a decent drop. I always channel dory in those moments!

SnacklessWonder · 28/08/2024 11:26
