Yeah but today I am already thinking about food and what can I eat and not wanting the healthy stuff I've been eating for the past two weeks. I'm not just hungry and I'm chew-your-own-arm-off hungry. Feeling zero supression today.

Lastchancefatty · 26/08/2024 09:48

Well done to each and every one who have embarked on this amazing journey!

I am on my second 5mg pen. About to enter week 12. Lost 10lb on my own first but took nearly a year! Now lost a further 26lb in 11 weeks. Hoping for that magic 2 stone by the end of week 12.

SW pre using mounjaro 22stone 10lb

SW week 1 mounjaro - 22 stone
CW - 20 stone 2lb
GW 1 - 14stone 10lb
Ultimate GW - 12 stone 10lb and this will make me JUST inside the healthy BMI range. I feel it may be too low for my frame but we will see. I've not been that weight since I was about 12 years old!

I was 13 stone on my 13th Birthday but am tall at 5ft 11 I just want to see "healthy weight" for the first time in my adult life and then I'll see how I feel 😊

Think I'm going to move to 7.5 next pen. I wanted to stay on 5mg despite being able to eat too much and the food noise returning, because I had a couple of wider family trips coming up where I didn't want them to notice I couldn't eat. It's worked a treat for not arousing suspicion. They know I'm "being good" but it's not been obvious I'm taking anything. Roll on next pen and I hope I get some better suppression moving forward.
That said it's still been nothing short of miraculous and I shouldn't be impatient!

Keep going everyone. It can be done and will be done!

Hello all

i wanted to say a massive thank you to @ObsidianTree for starting the threads way back, and to @Jimmyneutronsforehead for continuing. I’ve ordered my first pen through Juniper and when it turned up I suddenly got really freaked out with all the what ifs! I’ve spent the best part of five days reading all the numbered threads and the newbie thread and I’m feeling much better about it all.
I have busy weekends (don’t we all!) and I have to be in the office one day a week which is every Tuesday and I wfh the rest of the time. My plan is to go with Wednesday mornings as my injection time and hopefully any side effects will have sorted themselves out by the weekend, and definitely by Tuesday.
I’ve spent the past thirty years on a diet of some sort or another, with my mum putting me on one when I was 16 so I wasn’t exactly set up for success. I’ve tried most of the diets you can name, hypnotherapy, spent £££ on personal trainers and lifestyle medicine off and on and I’m the biggest I’ve ever been. I haven’t told my DH or anyone that I’m doing this because he’s stuck with me through so many of my “phases” which simply haven’t worked.
I’m hoping MJ will reset my body, I can take the time to build healthy habits ANd stick to them, and I can feel body confident to exercise in public. There are things I want to do like play badminton or netball but I can’t cope with the feeling of being judged by my weight right now (that plus I’m not fit enough). I have been trying to walk more but it is hard being so deskbound at home.
At the moment I’m 5ft9 and 16,4…no idea what that is in bmi but I have at least 2 stone to say goodbye to, if not 3.
Looking forward to Wednesday.

Pinkyp22 · 26/08/2024 10:17

@Lastchancefatty I like you am large built (5ft 9) and I dont believe my 'ideal weight' would look ok on me, I got down to 12 1/2 stone once and my face looked strained! Also like you I remember an uncle sarcastically commenting.... Shes 10 and 10stone.... Whats she going to be when shes 15, 15 stone? ...... Yes it happened 😐
@Chino99 you will be fine, good luck

GingerLemonTea · 26/08/2024 10:17

8 days since I made my Boots order and it’s still not in stock. Injection day is today. I still feel I can stay on track today but it’s going to be harder as the days go on.

Have you tried eating yet? You may find that after a little of what you fancy, you feel satisfied and the hunger goes. MJ works in mysterious ways.

3wDavid · 26/08/2024 10:52

BrendaLee · 25/08/2024 16:04

I’m travelling with work colleagues and manager so don’t want to be flashing my pen in a clear plastic bag through security!

It obviously won’t freeze! I have my perfumes in my hold luggage always, never ever have they been frozen upon arrival! But maybe for a peace of mind get yourself one of these insulated cases for insulin pens, that would protect against any harsh temp changes (although they’re not more extreme than a fridge!!)

Snozzlemaid · 26/08/2024 10:53

I agree, don't stop eating. If you feel hungry, eat something.
If I get hungry I eat, but I get full on a lot less food. So MJ is still doing its thing.

livingwithpmdd · 26/08/2024 11:05

@BrendaLee the diabetes websites advise not to put in hold due to drops in temperature and I myself have had a case be extremely cold after a long haul flight, as in all my clothes were freezing cold. So I wouldn't risk it!

Ifyounevergiveup · 26/08/2024 11:15

@Lastchancefatty @Pinkyp22 oh me too, what is it about people that makes them unable to leave things alone? My mother took me to Weightwatchers at ten years old. I recently saw a photo of me back then; I was tall for my age and sure, I looked stocky but I swear down that if she hadn’t projected her own insecurities onto me, my weight would have evened out by itself. Instead I had a childhood of banana and milk diets, being watched every time I put food in my mouth and rebelling by eating crap every time I could get away with it. My weight was a battle of wits. I clearly remember walking into my own room at Uni and my first thought was “hurrah, I’m free, now I can eat whatever I want”. Thanks mum, cue another 40 years of disordered eating. I just hope that parenting has got better over the years; I read posts elsewhere on Mumsnet and just think how lovely it would have been to have positivity from my parents like many kids have today.

Lastchancefatty · 26/08/2024 11:32

@Ifyounevergiveup @Pinkyp22

Oh yes the diets my mother had me on. First I recall at the age of 8. She was just going to cut my lunches down by a half a sandwich etc. Then I would virtually beg my friend for a few crisps or a bit of her chocolate bar. It was sad.
At nearly 10 I was 9 and a half stone and told that was the weight she was when she met my Dad. Then a bit later in my pre teens it was "oh wow I didn't weigh that much until I was pregnant with you". Note that now she is extremely obese, diabetic and in very poor health. She was obese herself when she said these things to me and would say she was trying to stop me from getting like her. Well that worked 🙄 I became obsessed with my weight, a secret eater and a binge eater. Had many times in my life when I was a lot slimmer but never really saw it myself. Just kept getting bigger. Now I've found my cure. But I'm not telling her or anyone else. She's already had ozempic for free on the NHS and didn't make any changes to make a good go of it. So I know she would just try to discredit the jabs and make me feel crap about it all. Only me and my husband are going to know about how I am losing the weight and I actually don't think I will ever tell anyone else.

Is anyone here with Boots? I know they're one of the more expensive but I'm thinking of switching to them because of being able to collect it from a pharmacy (Asda is too far for me) and know that it's been stored at an appropriate temperature and I don't have to worry about missing a courier.

I'm wondering things like is it easy to switch to them, what kind of proof do they want of BMI (mine is about 38 so qualifies easily but current provider were difficult about my photos initially), will they honour the level I'm at or make me go back to 2.5, do you just go to the counter and give your name to collect, and is the box big as I walk there and would have to carry it home.

Thanks

Hi , I’ve had my mounjaro from Boots since the beginning so can’t say how it would be switching over to them but they are very good! The medication is kept in the fridge right until it’s in your hands and they have a 10% returns off each pen so first pen is full price then if you keep ordering from them you always get 10% off. So my second pen was £197. You do everything online and it’s really easy to submit. You need to know standard things such weight , height and one full length front photo and one side profile full length photo, you can only do this throughout the week and at certain times as I tried on the weekend once! They ask you about any other medications and then go from there. It can take a few days for them to approve. On your first order with them you get a sharps bin free and with every pen there should be 4 needles included. They send over so much advice about food and have lots of videos for support on a range of things to help you . I haven’t done it yet as I want to see how I go on my own first but there’s also a deal with weight watchers where you can sign up with them for £7 a month for 6 months so a little discount if that’s something you like. Also on your account there is a messaging system and they get back to you fast if you have any questions. Hope this helps! 😊

Sorry also forgot to say it’s in a little brown bag like a normal prescription would be and the needle bin will be just on its own so maybe take a small carrier bag or have a slightly bigger hand bag to carry them in home

That all sounds great, thank you. Do you also get Advantage points? And are the photos every time you order or just at the start? How long do they usually take to process your next pen, is it automatic or do you have to allow a while? Sorry for the extra questions!!

Hello, joining this thread for some inspiration and accountability!

started MJ yesterday - starting weight 20st. Goal
weight 13st.

Have done every diet over the years with mixed successes. It has just got harder since having my children (now 7 &4).

I haven’t felt any side effects yet. I’ve had a normal breakfast and feel a bit hungry, but like I can wait for lunch. I’d normally have been snacking by now.

I started Saturday night so not far in front of you. I'm similar in that I'm hungry but not snacking as much. I need to remind myself it's early days and it needs to build up in my system. Good luck!

Hello,
Yesterday morning was my first dose of 5 ml and I feel so sleepy and hungover will this get better or will I need to reduce my clicks on the next dose. I had no side effect with the 2.5 ml and lost 11.5 lbs in that 4 week period.

Pinkyp22 · 26/08/2024 12:06

@Lastchancefatty @Ifyounevergiveup
My weight problems in most part stem from my mum too 😒 I also have PCOS so of course she wont take any accountability for my childhood weight problems. I was massively overweight at an alarmingly young age - 4, due to her own distorted eating patterns projected onto me.
When I left home at 18 I lost 4 stone. Life, motherhood and hormones have seen it all pile back on, of course thats down to me but I'm taking control back now and it feels brilliant.
I have seen where my future was heading with my mum, and I absolutely refuse it.

Yes you get advantage points just add your card on and you’re good to go! The photos are just for the first pen then after that you just click the link they send you and fill out a form to say either you want to stay on the current dose or move up and then it gets ordered straight away. When you’ve completed it, it says that you should wait for 2 days to hear back from them then if not go into the store but I wait around 5 days to collect as the first time it took a while (more because the store I go to is a small one and they didn’t have a pharmacist one of the days, also they don’t work on Sundays) you get a message and you can order the pen after you have taken the third dose but I did mine on the Friday (take mine on Saturdays) and stated that I’m taking it the next day but didnt want to wait until the Monday just in case it took a while. They will ask for your weight again just to see how you are getting on , but it’s quite easy to follow online just read through the messages that they send you as they have lots of little nuggets of info 😃

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 26/08/2024 12:20

@Chino99 I just wanted to say that I'm also 5ft9, and my start weight was also 16.4. I'm now 11.2.

I began my journey with Ozempic in Feb 23 and switched to Mounjaro in June this year, so I haven't been the fastest loser, but it's sure felt sustainable- for the first time ever.

It has been absolutely life changing for me, in so many ways, good luck to you. ❤️

That's all very reassuring thank you. I'll give them a go. It's worth it to me to know it's been kept in a proper cold chain and not to worry about deliveries. My branch is fairly big so I think they have pharmacists on every day but I will check that as I'd prefer to collect on a Saturday.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 26/08/2024 12:25

I'm having to make a conscious effort to eat half of my food and wait before I eat the other half.

I have been eating less because of mj but I still don't seem to be registering total fullness until I've finished my meal by which point my stomach is like woah slow down.

Also not to eat and drink at the same time.

This is definitely a mental hurdle I need to practice more of.

Hope every one else is having a great day today. We're still at the seaside. Wish me lots of sunshine!

Sorry to change the subject, but I wonder if any of you ladies can help or advise me?

I have had thinning hair for years (around my parting). I have taken biotin etc to no avail. Last night watching Long Lost Family, there was a lovely lady with very thin hair. I looked at her and thought, that could be me in a few years. I keep getting pop-up videos on Facebook for 'hair toppers'. Has anyone personally or through hair dressing had any experience of them?

diian · 26/08/2024 12:41

Lots have you have said that you have thinning hair on MJ. Mine was a pre-existing condition but losing weight has not helped. I hate photos as you can often see my scalp so usually wear sunglasses on my head to cover the thinning.

I refuse it too. No way do I want to end up that way. My mums decline in health has probably happened over a long period but boy has it been fast moving since she hit 60. Virtually disabled now at 65 because she would never take her health seriously enough to really try to shift the weight or listen to any medical advice...... because she knows best of course. I'm not going there ever. I couldn't live like she's now having to. It's certainly been the warning I needed. I also have PCOS so I honestly don't know how I could have done it without the jabs. They've made a huge difference to my physical ability to lose weight and although I am not a fast looser by any means, I'm no longer living that cycle of lose 1lb - gain 4lb, lose 2lb - gain 3lb, go on holiday and gain 11lb, Go out for dinner once, gain 3lb.... over and over. It's liberating and nice to not be afraid of the scales!
