Hi everyone, about to have my first jab tonight and have a mixture of emotions. Excitement, hope, fear, and a feeling of 'cheating'.

Embrace it. It is not cheating. Would you think that if a smoker was using patches to quit? No. It is because us "Fatties" are programmed to be ashamed of anything we do. It is a tool... a tool to be used to reset and refresh your mindset and eating habits. You will love being on it and feel some sense of freedom from the addiction/habit of eating the wrong foods and at the wrong times. Also, you will love the absence of food noise and the constant thinking of when you would eat again and what you would have. That all goes, you will now need to think about I MUST EAT!!! as you can easily forget to eat now.. Give it a month and you will wish like I did that they had discovered this years ago.

Thank you for all the lovely messages everyone! It’s especially good to hear from people of a similar-ish weight to me as I’ve been worried about how effective it will be on someone my size.
The pen arrived yesterday and I’ve just taken my first dose - trying not to think about it for now and get on with things as I have loads of cleaning to do. We don’t have plans to go out today which is just as well as I’m worried about potential side effects!
I’ll weigh myself next Sunday and see if anything has happened. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The leaflet says you can keep it unrefrigerated once open - and that it must be used within 30 days. Both things are true, it doesn't say the 30 days is due to it being unrefrigerated.

You may well be ok then - I have had some diarrhea (not bridesmaids level, somewhere in between 😂) but it's not rare for me to get it

Just did a medexpress order for the first time, they have come back to me in less than an hour asking for proof of my past mounjaro prescriptions, I wasn't expecting it so quick given the warning of delays. Hopefully it will continue, £122 for 7.5 using a discount of course but fantastic price.

The individual medexpress discounts, the £40 ones are they just for first time medexpress orders are can they be used everytime?

I'm just starting week 5 and my loss is 11.5 lbs
No side effects from the 2.5 ml starter dose.
My question is what to expect from the 5 ml which I have just had, do people ever stay on one dose if the weight loss is good or would that eventually stop.

Use your bonus dose for week five and buy another 2.5ml pen. You can save the 5ml one unopened for later.

Thanks all, yes I think I’ll try and get another 2.5 in the next week and save the 5mg as the expiry in Feb 25. @NewLifter I’m obviously misunderstanding the leaflet, remedial reading comprehension lessons needed!

@bantum I’m similar to you. Lost 12lb in four weeks (6 of those this last week bizarrely - maybe the cooler weather!). I’m thinking I’ll stick on 2.5mg as I am happy with 2lb or so loss per week and tracking calories (I seem to be able to eat what I want, just get a bit fuller than usual.) my only side effects have been constipation and a slight morning-sickness feel in the mornings. By the evenings I am starting to think about chocolate but I am trying to see this as a good opportunity to practise resisting, with the help of MJ! I might go up to 5mg in the future, will see how I go.

Thanks for that. Most of my weight came off at the start so I wondered what would happen with the 5 ml that I started today. I'm more than happy with my weight loss so far but I wouldnt want to lose much more than that a month. Like you I seem to be able to eat well and still drop in weight but I have cut out a lot of carbs. I use a side plate to portion my food. Re constipation I've learned that it is a different feeling for me (to go) than it was before

@bantum yes I have reduced carbs a lot, though to help the constipation after the first couple of weeks I have added back in fibre-y cereals which has helped, and seems to have contributed to me losing a bit more. So I think I will carry on with that at breakfast and eat protein/salad/veg at the other meals. What I love about the MJ is that I can eat a chicken salad and be satisfied whereas before it wouldn’t have felt complete without a roll/some bread.

Another q from me. So I have 40clicks left in my 5mg pen (as I used two smaller doses) before the bonus is touched. So I looked it up n think it's working out at 3.3 that I have. Then going to use syringe for the bonus.

So question is how do I measure how much to make it a 6.5mg? As in I know 2.2 but in a syringe what would that be?

Who knows, maybe I am 😂 but the prescribers are saying discard after 30 days so that's good enough for me. I personally don't want to take any chances, as tempting as it is (I'm in the same boat currently, 30 days is up next week but there's loads left in my pen!)

If you want to inject 2.2mls then that would need a 2.5ml syringe. Insulin syringes are 1ml so you need two full syringes plus 20 units on a third syringe. Are you sure you want to inject that much after taking decreased doses? You are really meant to take 4 full doses of a pen before increasing on week 5 if that makes sense.

I haven't done any maths btw, I'm just going by your post xx

So no it's ok as I was on over 5mg. I did 5mg on last pen and then this one I did some 6 to just go up a bit so that's why I now wanted to go to 6.5

A full dose of any pen is only 0.6mls

2.0mg of a 5mg pen is 0.24mls
0.25mg of a 5mg pen is 0.03mls
= 0.27mls of a 5mg pen would give a 2.25mg dose if I’ve worked it out correctly.
I’ve attached a chart showing how many clicks or mls to mgs from each pen so you can double check
