I find it difficult on threads sometimes as I 'only' have about 2-2.5 stone to lose so naturally it's going to be slower to come off, so I do get a bit disheartened but comparison is the thief of joy and ultimately we're all making fantastic lifestyle changes.

@SnacklessWonder O don’t get disheartened, just think how much of a higher percentage of your body weight every pound is! Every one you lose is a bigger jump towards where you want to be than it is for others…in fact if you want to lose 2.5 stone, every pound is 3% of your goal! THREE PERCENT! Keep motoring! And by all means hop onto the slow losers thread if you want to vent without feeling like you’re pissing on anybody’s chips 😂

CrystaltipsnoAlistair · 24/08/2024 14:30

Thank you @Slimstar13 your words are so inspiring. Suffering from knee pain myself and back issues I have found the pain has decreased so much from losing 3.5 stone with the help of mj.
Have struggled with my weight for 30 + years and still can’t believe that a medication can switch off the food noise and free me.
Wishing you well @Asthenia . I hope you get on well and look forward to hearing how you get on. I also have a lot of weight to lose and find these threads very friendly and supportive.

I'm going to order this - but I know that my weakness as well as food is the glasses of wine in the evening

I need to get that down, or its just a waste of money

Well the good news is drinking more than 2 glasses of wine (for me) or any (for some people) while taking mounjaro makes you feel dreadful. So it might do double duty!

Wonderful loses today gang!
I’ve been on holiday all week so have no idea what I weigh. Which feels a bit weird having been weighing daily since I started.
What I do know is I’m slimmer. I kept catching glimpses of myself in the mirror at the cottage we were staying in: I have a waist! I feel like proclaiming it from the rooftops with a loudhailer. Or stopping strangers on the street “look I go in here!” But that would be a bit odd. So instead I say it here to women who understand how big this feels.

TheRoseShaker · 24/08/2024 15:33

I love reading everyone's stories, I'm made up for us all, changing our lives for the better Flowers

I've had an open bottle of wine in my fridge for two weeks, unheard of! I'm off to Spain tomorrow, actually can't wait to put my new bikinis on Grin

Oh yes we do know, Violets, and there’s something extra special about a waist, isn’t there? Mine is just having a bit of a think about maybe one day deciding to admit it exists, and even then I’m a little bit thrilled…!

I've been on MJ for two weeks and haven't really missed wine once, and I was a daily wine drinker. I've had two slimline g and t's in that time.

Eyf · 24/08/2024 16:00

Great losses this morning!

I feel fine after taking my first 5mg yesterday, thankfully!

One side effect I THINK I’m having is lower BP, I already have BP on the low side so it’s making me feel a bit rubbish. Always feeling hot and faint when I get up! Need to remember to take my time. It could also be related to my anaemia though as I’ve been slacking on the iron tablets.

3wDavid · 24/08/2024 16:01

Same re alcohol tbh. I never had a problem with it, but had an unhealthy habit of a nightly big glass of wine. Some nights 2. When on MJ I haven’t missed it and actually figured out it wasn’t so much the wine itself, as it was the ritual of it - you know, to signify the end of the day, time to unwind. Now this has been replaced by an electrolyte drink (I’m that weirdo who likes the taste) or a kombucha. Much much healthier options.

Ifyounevergiveup · 24/08/2024 16:13

@Eyf my blood pressure dropped significantly as soon as I started Mj but weirdly my resting heart rate has slowly climbed from 59 to 67 over the two months I’ve been jabbing. Don’t understand how both things can happen at the same time, but there you go!

SwimingSummer · 24/08/2024 16:15

@Eyf i take a fizzy magnesium supplement it helps a bit with the dizzy as I have lower BP too. But I need to get an iron supplement as well as I’ve realised I’ve virtually cut out red meat replacing it with turkey or chicken so not sure if it’s impacted my iron levels now I think about it.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said to my DH yesterday, I miss the ritual. I also miss sitting in a pub garden 😆 but I have no inclination to sit sipping a Diet Coke.

Some very inspiring losses on here today, well done all! I've got so much out of reading these threads, including from those who are finding it hard and haven't had such big losses.

Obesity and all that goes into creating it, whether it's hormonal, junk food, ingrained habits, family patterns, stress and distress, is just such a complex heavy burden to carry - literally and metaphorically. I was overweight as a child, but have had many periods of normal weight, interspersed with gaining and losing, until the last few years when I could only get to less overweight before I started gaining again.

At 60, I feel my entire life has had this secret undercurrent of shame running through it. Even if I lose everything I hope to and stay there, I know my body will still carry the legacy, and I can't get back all the things I felt too ashamed to do or want along the way. But I'll happily embrace that if I can get to a place of relative peace where I no longer feel principally defined by my weight. More than anything, I'm just hoping to feel healthier and more free.

Beautifully put.

summerlovingvibes · 24/08/2024 19:33

Patting myself on the back tonight. 1.5 stone off, still weighing a whopping 16 stone 8lbs, but have just completed my first couch to five K! Pretty much felt every step in my knees but decided I needed to step up my game on weight loss tonight and so just decided to go for it :)

Rorpethy · 24/08/2024 19:41

I've just finished reading through the last few threads ready to take my first dose tonight. I am worried about side effects especially diarrhea so had a bit of a tmi question for those of you who have experienced this.

On a scale of 'oh, I quite need to go' and that scene in 'bridesmaids', how bad has it been?

CandiedPrincess · 24/08/2024 19:49

@Rorpethy I'm taking 3rd dose of 2.5mg tomorrow, had zero side effects but if anything I've been a bit bunged up!

Suffice it to say, remember the old saying: never trust a fart.

you should be okay, it’s only your first dose and it tends to be caused by what you’ve eaten, not the jab itself (same as Orlistat, if you have any experience of that). So unless you’ve decided to have a last day blowout of fish and chips, or you’ve eaten up the whole of a chocolate stash, you should be fine!

come back and let us know how your first week goes!

GoodLuckBabe · 24/08/2024 19:56

Can I ask for clarification on where it says you have to use the pen within 30 days once started? In the info leaflet it says 30 days max if unrefrigerated, but doesn’t specify the time if it is kept in the fridge. I ask because I am due my fifth dose tomorrow and have bought a 5mg pen a week or so ago anticipating going up. However this fourth week on 2.5mg has been amazing in terms of lack of side effects and feeling in control of what I eat. So now I’m thinking I might continue on 2.5mg for now. Can I spread out the doses in the 5mg to do 2.5 each time? presumably not if you can only use it for 30 days (or at least I could but will waste some). I just haven’t seen this 30 day guidance on anything official!

QueenOfHiraeth · 24/08/2024 20:07

@Pinkyp22 I saw a TikTokker who had been with Juniper say she was changing supplier and going to a small pharmacy called Ashcroft Pharmacy who had a policy of no codes or gimmicks, just set the price at what you can afford to sell it at and stick to that. Might be worth a look
I am going to switch myself next month as I have been using Chequp (dearer but have coaching, etc which was useful at first but I don't feel I need it now and get most of my support here) and have heard an independent pharmacy near me are venturing into this too so will let everyone know when I find out more.

@GoodLuckBabe The "Use within 30 days of first dose" is official guidance from the manufacturers so best not to chance more than 5 doses at the most. The problem with using a 5 pen for 2.5 doses is not only the time the pen is in use but you are also puncturing the red seal more times than it is designed to be punctured which may weaken the integrity and sterility

Rorpethy · 24/08/2024 20:41

@Ifyounevergiveup @CandiedPrincess thank you both for the reassurance. I don't think I've ever had diarrhea in my adult life and the thought of it scares me! I'm going back to work in 3 weeks time and don't want to be having any accidents.

GoodLuckBabe · 24/08/2024 20:55

@QueenOfHiraeth ah is it? I guess they don’t need to put it in the PIL as it would be finished after 30 days anyway if used according to the instructions . Maybe I’ve got time to get a 2.5mg pen if I take the bonus dose tomorrow. Thanks for you input
