Good morning, fellow warriors! ☀️

I just wanted to share some of my insights, thoughts, and musings with you all. I've been on MJ for 21 weeks now, and I’m thrilled to say I’ve lost 4 and a half stone (starting weight: 18st 6lbs) and dropped my BMI by 13 points—all without exercise, just a complete change in lifestyle and mindset.

Was I scared to take my first dose? Hell no. I was stuck in a rut, eating rubbish, processed foods, and all the wrong things, substituting fruit and veg with chocolate. It was a downward spiral that not only affected my mood and confidence but also my health.

After reading up on MJ, I thought, why not? What’s the worst that could happen? Maybe I’d feel sick and have to come off it. So, I started the journey. Yes, I had a few side effects along the way, but that’s to be expected. As I increased the dose, my hunger decreased more and more, to the point where, just before starting 12.5 mg, I was going days without eating.

I contacted ME, and they took so long to reply that I decided to take my first 12.5 mg dose anyway. Wow, I didn’t feel great, but I knew it wouldn’t last. I pushed through it with protein shakes, and eventually, they advised me to drop down to 7.5 mg and go from there. Now, I’m on this dose and absolutely loving it.

The biggest win for me on this journey has been breaking old habits and resetting my mindset toward healthy eating. I haven’t touched chocolate, cheese, bread, butter, pasta, or potatoes in months, and I haven’t even missed them. It wasn’t a conscious choice to cut these out; it’s like my body naturally gravitates toward veggies, salads, and fruits now. It’s the strangest thing, but I love it.

My birthday was this week, and I never thought I’d be over the moon to receive a fruit basket instead of chocolate, but here we are. I’ve discovered a love for fresh, wholesome foods. I focus on eating protein and drinking protein shakes. If I want a takeaway, I’ll have it, guilt-free. I don’t count calories; I don’t need to because I know whatever I’m eating is good and clean.

My family, those who know, are shocked beyond belief at the change in me. I recently had a long-awaited hospital appointment, and the doctor was stunned. He said, “I’m sure your notes are wrong—it says here you’re morbidly obese, but you’re thinner than me!” That was a huge confidence boost!

Please, don’t be scared to start this journey. Embrace it. But don’t think you can keep eating the same things in smaller portions and expect a miracle. Use this as a tool to reset your mind and body. One cool thing I’ve found is that Uber Eats in my area offers half-price fruit and veg from certain supermarkets on Mondays. Never did I think I’d be spending £50 on produce from Waitrose each week, but damn, their stuff is delicious!

Keep on going, embrace the journey, and look forward to the future. 💪🌟

It’s happened! And a day earlier!!! I’ve lost 3 stone in 3 months (minus a day).

SW (May 25) : 16 st 12.5 lbs / 236.5 lbs / 107.2 kg
CW (Aug 24) : 13 st 12.5 lbs / 194.5 lbs / 88.2 kg

I have another 2-3 stone to go, so nowhere near done with this journey, but for the first time in my adult life it feels possible.

That's amazing @3wDavid ! 3 stone in 3 months is incredible. Not that I'm envious or anything.... 😀

Hello everyone! I’ve been making my way through the previous threads but am still only a few pages into thread 3 and my first dose of Mounjaro is being delivered today.
I never thought I’d do anything like this but I’m 33 and weigh 25.5st/162kg/357lbs. I’ve been fat my whole life since childhood, managed to lose 3.5st during Covid getting down to 18st, but have piled 7.5st back on since getting pregnant 3 years ago. I’m quite tall at 5”11 but I’m still hugely overweight and I’m sick of it. I’ve tried so hard since November last year with calorie counting and consistent exercise But I’ve only managed to shift half a stone. It’s not enough and I’m hoping to use Mounjaro as a helping hand.
My knees and back hurt and I have fatty liver. I’m desperate to get my weight under control and develop healthy eating habits. I feel ashamed it’s come to this but my doctor was lovely when I consulted him about taking meds and said there are so many factors at play with obesity and he’s been doing research in the field for 30 years and it’s more complicated than we could ever imagine.
Very long first message, sorry - but am looking forward to starting and seeing everyone else’s progress is very inspiring!

Hi @Asthenia
I'm similar to you, I'm 5f3in and my starting weight is 23st 3lb
I can wait to get rid of the aches pains with my knees and back.
I'm on day 3 of week one and still worry that I'll be the unlucky one and this won't work for me.
I keep reading others posting they have lost 4-5 st using MJ which feels like a dream to me.

Ifyounevergiveup · 24/08/2024 09:01

@Asthenia welcome and please don’t ever be ashamed. Your doctor has it spot on. Why would you feel ashamed about something even the professionals don’t understand? You’re lucky to have him; so many of them just roll their eyes and assume you’ve managed to find a way of mainlining chocolate! And I wish Mj had been around when I was 33. You’ve made a brilliant choice and your life is about to change! Keep us posted on how you’re doing!

And as for all you weigh day chicks: what wonderful numbers we’re seeing! Congratulations to all of you!

3wDavid · 24/08/2024 09:04

so many amazing losses this morning! Congratulations to everyone! And to those just embarking on the journey - welcome! Take it one day at a time, trust the process, you will see the changes!!

sangriaandsunshineplease · 24/08/2024 09:18

For those that remember me, the scales have finally moved for the first time in five weeks! And it has been a whoosh as I haven't gone down 1lb but 2!
As I think some of the other slower losers have found over the weeks and months, this loss does seem to have come after a bit of a "f* it" moment as we've had friends staying from overseas for a couple of days and done sightseeing but with a cup of tea & a piece of cake and had an ice cream as well as eating out. Bodies are funny old things!
I think I'm now at the end of week 19 and have lost 17lbs. At times, it has been so frustrating to be losing so slowly compared to many on here but it has still be totally worth it. I feel and look so much better

Choux · 24/08/2024 09:22

@ThisAzureSnail I remember you posting about not eating for days. Glad you have found the right dose for you. I am going to requote something that you wrote as I think it really reflects what our goal should be while on Mounjaro:

But don’t think you can keep eating the same things in smaller portions and expect a miracle. Use this as a tool to reset your mind and body.

It's a tool to help us make the changes we need to make to our lifestyles and our eating habits.

And @Asthenia don't be ashamed of where you are, be proud that you have taken the first step to changing that!

Pinkyp22 · 24/08/2024 09:28

Still looking for pharmacy recommendations, preferably cheaper than my usual independent pharmacy. I think I will be going up to 7.5.
Has anyone ordered from cloud Pharmacy? And do they offer any discounts? Thanks

Thank you. Glad you agree with me. I have one friend who saw my progress and started on it.. but has only lost 1 stone in 4 months due to not changing a thing and she is so disappointed. I have tried to educate her but it falls on deaf ears.

Care Pharmacy are very good and price match, but may not come out cheaper than providers with codes; worth a look though just to check, they’re very efficient.

Thank you
I would try medexpress but I am worried about the processing delay and delivery. They use royal mail who are pretry slow here, even with NDD and tracked services. They will send me thier " we expect to deliver your parcel between 08.30-11.30" text but turn up at 16.55! I cant be here as I work min-fri so I do need to arrange delivery for when somone one will be in........... So with the processing delay I can see that being a bit of a nightmare.
Also what do medexpress do with dispatching over a weekend? I would hope they dont dispatch on a Saturday?

Pinkbendyman · 24/08/2024 10:34

Wow, the losses are incredible! Congratulations to everyone 🎉🏅🤩

Welcome to our new MJers - one of the best decisions ever!

@Pinkyp22 No, they dispatch on a Monday.

Timeforicecream · 24/08/2024 10:38

Hi all can I ask a question? Is the weight loss the result of the injection or the result of the healthier eating and exercise your all doing? I’ve ordered the jab but as I am a huge overeater I am apprehensive about this journey. Currently I have zero willpower so hoping this will work for me. However on the flip side I lost 3 stone during Covid by dong low carb. Obviously I’ve put it back on and more so my dilemma is paying the ££ for the jab when the possibility is it could be a placebo effect anyway. I appreciate advice on this from
anyone.

Snozzlemaid · 24/08/2024 10:48

The injection does not dissolve fat or directly make you lose weight, but it gives you that willpower to make the right food choices, and stops the food noise in your head.
In fact you no longer need willpower to not reach for unhealthy foods, you just won't want them any more.
I haven't had a single piece of chocolate in 3 months and I don't miss it or feel I'm missing out at all.
It's bizarre but it works.

I used Cloud Pharmacy.
Fast approval and delivery I have found and good customer service.

I ordered Thursday at 1pm and I received Friday at 9am with Royal Mail, ice pack still had a solid block of ice in it.

My only issue I have found, and this could go for any pharmacy, my order before my latest this week, I received a pen that had an expiry date of October.
I will manage to use it just in time, but for anyone else that might be buying a bit more further in advance it might not be ideal but I suppose it's what dose you go for.
Mine was a 2.5mg.

SnacklessWonder · 24/08/2024 10:50

It helps the willpower! I LOVE food, especially junk, but I've not craved any at all. I am making much healthier choices and managing a calorie deficit which I really struggle with on a 'normal' diet. I don't care if it IS a placebo effect, it works for me!

CelestialNexus · 24/08/2024 10:51

Would someone pm me a code please

Many thanks

SnacklessWonder · 24/08/2024 10:58

PMed you @CelestialNexus

Some very inspiring losses on here today, well done all! I've got so much out of reading these threads, including from those who are finding it hard and haven't had such big losses.

Obesity and all that goes into creating it, whether it's hormonal, junk food, ingrained habits, family patterns, stress and distress, is just such a complex heavy burden to carry - literally and metaphorically. I was overweight as a child, but have had many periods of normal weight, interspersed with gaining and losing, until the last few years when I could only get to less overweight before I started gaining again.

At 60, I feel my entire life has had this secret undercurrent of shame running through it. Even if I lose everything I hope to and stay there, I know my body will still carry the legacy, and I can't get back all the things I felt too ashamed to do or want along the way. But I'll happily embrace that if I can get to a place of relative peace where I no longer feel principally defined by my weight. More than anything, I'm just hoping to feel healthier and more free.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 24/08/2024 11:38

@weaseleyes - I'm a few years younger than you but other than that your post could be about me.

I feel exactly as you have written, I understand exactly what you are saying.

At the moment Mounjaro feels like the answer to a lifetime's worth of prayers, and I'm happy to stay on it forever if needs be to maintain both weight loss and the freedom it has given me.

And I am so grateful for these 20 (so far) threads - they are such amazing support, full of inspiration, and importantly they are helping with the shame I carry.

Keep going everyone - however slowly or quickly you are losing weight you're amazing and we've got this!!

Oh this. Absolutely this. At 58 and having been overweight for 53 years…relative peace is absolutely the goal. Thank you for articulating so clearly how I feel x

I find it difficult on threads sometimes as I 'only' have about 2-2.5 stone to lose so naturally it's going to be slower to come off, so I do get a bit disheartened but comparison is the thief of joy and ultimately we're all making fantastic lifestyle changes.

I see why it would be disheartening, but those that have a bigger start weight and are losing well initially, it does eventually slow down. When it does slow down they still have 2-3+ stone to go to get to goal so it's still a slog. Your losses might be slow, but you'll get to goal quicker I'm sure.
