Mine was from health express. First time ordering from them and really quick service, nice cold pen. Previously I used Zava then before that Medexpress. I did order the double pack of 12.5mg and 15mg from health express so can probably wait a while longer as they wouldn’t have ‘ran out’ yet even if taking them straight away after ordering but it’s hard to know what’s best to do isn’t it

What expiry do you have on the 12.5mg?

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 08/08/2024 18:04

@Louboo3 yeah it's quite frustrating that they put short dates on the pens. Hard to decide what to do for sure.

If I didn't have to worry about not being sold anymore pens, I would wait until I've run out of the 12.5mg and 15mg pens before ordering again. I bet the prescribers have loads of stock of the pens with a short expiry date! Will then end up having to chuck them away if they don't sell!

NSV
Today at work 2 people mentioned that "whatever you are doing is working"
Then I had a GP appointment and I am finally going to be prescribed HRT.
Had an appointment about it last year but was told BP/Weight and blood sugars needed to be sorted first.
To say I'm delighted is an understatement.😊

That’s great. I’m sorry your GP withheld HRT from you. It is nice when people notice and compliment isn’t it?

although - on Sunday a friend I hadn’t seen in ages said ‘you are LITERALLY half the size you used to be!’ I’m not in a bit over 2st lighter. Anyway they made such a big deal I felt quite self conscious.

Downandout24 · 08/08/2024 18:14

This thread has been amazing. Just sat and read it in full whilst glancing at the fridge that’s housing my first MJ pen ready for tomorrow.

im huge, hate leaving the house, feel embarrassed by my body ( ironically as 4 months ago I was super confident at only 6lb lighter) - so MJ im hoping will give me some of my old self back.

before starting it I’ve worked really hard at getting my BED under control and monitored, and so this feels like a scary step - although not as scary as the GP recommending slimming world < the SYNS would be so bad for BED>

so I’ll report back tomorrow if that’s ok after my first jab and weigh in!

MuckyMessy · 07/08/2024 21:41

@Iwillbethin88 that’s an incredible NSV, well done! I didn’t do measurements recently, although I joined a gym challenge 8 weeks agoand took my measurements then, I might retake them tomorrow after weighing myself and taking pictures.

Ooooooo let me know how you got on! I was so shocked and thought I was looking at the wrong numbers!

FarriersGirl · 08/08/2024 18:22

@Downandout24 Good luck and please don't worry about the first jab, it is easier than everyone expects it to be. Let us know how it goes 😀

I'm always following and lurking, there's some amazing results in here!

I was wondering if I can be added to the Facebook group, please?

I am now 15lbs down since June 26th. I'm still on 3.75mg and pondering what to do about my holiday in 10 days. I'm away for 2 weeks - trying to decide whether to keep at 3.75 or go down a little whilst I'm away. Will keep thinking!

I'm also still constipated. I'm alternating between taking a senna and a dulcoease each day as I don't want to take them every day. (Should I?) Then I take 2 psyillium husks a day. I have ordered some magnesium citrate today so will give that a go too. I can't stomach prunes. I'm drinking plenty and I'm not in any discomfort or pain at all. There is some action sometimes but it's nowhere near as regular, easy or soft as it should be! 😬

I’ve recently been on holiday for 2 weeks. I took 3.75mg the day we left (had been on 5mg previously but had total appetite suppression and didn’t want that on holiday), then didn’t take my pen with me so had a week ‘off’. I only put on 3lbs while there, and lost it again within 3 days of getting back!

I hate attention and my in laws made a massive fuss of my weight loss when we saw them. I hated it!

My in laws said not a word and I was mightily annoyed 🤣
No wonder people don't know whether to mention weight loss or not!

Mooandmae1 · 08/08/2024 18:38

Hi All

5 days into 2.5 and even though I've read up so much about it I can't get my head round that fact that I just don't want to eat anything.

Having 1 weetabix around midday and than normal dinner with plenty of veg. Struggling a little with eating this amount at the minute but worried I'll end up with no energy if I don't. I never drink water but upping that slowly over the last few days.

Getting quite a few side effects with heartburn doing the worst one. Downing Rennies to keep it under control. Also started on a multi vit as a bit worried I won't be getting them naturally. I cant wait for my first weigh in this week but feel really nervous

SW 15.6 3/4

greenmillions · 08/08/2024 18:44

@ItsAlrightDarling That's great! You've added another option to my list!!!

I meant to ask if anyone has had any neck or shoulder pain? I have noticed that since I started MJ, if I sleep funny, my pain is awful. What used to be a slight twinge if it happened is now pretty horrible. Certainly bad enough to take pain killers and need help from the kids with things like picking stuff up off the floor! It has only happened 3 or 4 times and It'll be gone in a couple of days but it's pretty miserable :(

I’ve added a picture of my measurements, I’ve written them down and taken a picture to keep on my phone as inspiration to look at anytime I don’t feel motivated!

I am over the moon as the results.

Congratulations on all the losses and NSVs.

I am on my way home after 10 days of an AI holiday. I dropped my dose to 7.5mg from 12.5mg for the holiday and relaxed my diet a bit without feeling any guilt. Am now looking forward to getting home and getting 100% back on it. Am sure there will be some damage but I am confident that I can deal with it. It's a great feeling. Love this medication.

I'm waiting to hear about my price match from medexpress. I did use a previous price match credit against this order so will see what they say. They initially emailed me back asking for evidence of the lower price.

Time wise I ordered Thursday, prescribed Saturday, dispatched Tuesday arrived today. So not too long a process even though they did email to say they are experiencing delays.

Separately ordered from cloud pharmacy for my relative. They don't ask for photos and you can also tick to say you'll notify gp yourself just in case that's of interest to anyone. I might switch to them for my next pen, they seem to have a 5% off code each month.

Hi. Have you heard back from medexpress yet as I am intrigued to know whether they will try to get out of price matching if you have used a credit that was added to your account from previous price matching? Thanks

Js448 · 08/08/2024 19:19

have a Zava discount code if anyone wants it for a first order

Ifyounevergiveup · 08/08/2024 19:47

@Downandout24 oh, a big hug of welcome to you. Looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow and please keep posting…you’re going to feel so different in not a long time. It’s brave to take this step because as you say, it’s scary, but there’s a whole squad of us here rooting for you and each other. Every time I come on the thread I feel like I’m part of a team. Go, girl!

@Iwillbethin88 thank you, I’m definitely going to carry on taking measurements, might do it fortnightly going forward.

@greenmillions i haven’t noticed any neck or shoulder pain, although I do have back pain regularly and it has flared up more than usual. it’s normally only an issue when I’m working l, but as it’s the summer holidays I’m off work which is when I would not normally suffer. I’m off to re read the patient information leaflet now, I’d just put it down to spending too long ironing. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has noticed similar side effects or it’s just coincidental.

cappycap · 08/08/2024 20:05

@greenmillions

I've been experiencing neck/shoulder/back pain. It's like a winded/nerve type pain and wondered if it was to do with MJ.

clanbailey · 08/08/2024 20:09

MassiveSaladDodger · 07/08/2024 21:34

Thanks @ObsidianTree for the new thread 😊

@clanbailey I haven’t much success with either Wegovy or Mounjaro up to now but I had no appetite suppression on Wegovy & only started to get some mild suppression on MJ now I’m on 7.5. I still get hungry and can eat any type of food I want with no side effects but I get full quicker so portions are now smaller. Am hoping as I go up through the higher doses appetite suppression will increase but think I might have to be on 15 to really see results, a lot of people on the US mounjaro reddit said they had to hit 15 for them to start losing so although it’s not typical on here it’s not uncommon in general (if that makes sense!) I’m definitely prepared (and luckily can afford) to go up to 15 and stay on it for a while so I’m not giving up yet. I think it’s definitely worth seeing an endocrinologist as others have said but it could be you (and me) are one of those that need to be on the highest dose.

Thanks ObsidianTree, I will continue to the higher dose and sit on that for a few months but it is frustrating when your body just doesnt 'give' like the majority 😐Good luck with carrying on and hopefully results start to come in for us

Hellijoy · 08/08/2024 20:54

Evening all…. A couple of questions. What made you decide to start Mounjaro, and how do you feel when people compliment your weight loss?

I decided to bite the bullet after going wedding dress shopping. I gained 20kg during Covid (helped by a new relationship and happy weight) and for the past couple of years have been maintaining, but struggling to lose anything. I get married next September and when I chose my dress, and we measured me for the size, I realised I’d be more or less having to stay the same size for 16 months and that made me really sad - which in turn made me order my first pen, and call up the wedding dress shop to ask them to hold the order (thankfully they say yes and I get remeasured in a couple of months).

I also started horse riding again this year after a long break. I was within the weight limit to ride but my fitness and stamina and confidence were so much lower than I wanted them to be.

Both of these things then link into how I feel when people mention that I’ve lost weight. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve had people notice my weight loss and mention it to me. I really struggle with this; I tend to just mumble something like ‘oh maybe’ and then move on. I have a little voice in my brain which reinforces the thought that people like and value me more when I’m slimmer. That slimmer equates to success more. And that if I hadn’t lost weight for my dress, or for my horse riding - that people would judge or feel sorry for me. I try not to give too much time or headspace to others thoughts. I am on this journey for me, not for anyone else - and i do struggle with others verbalising it to me. I tend to avoid mentioning weight loss to anyone I notice it on - as I just don’t know why or how they’ve lost weight.

I’m sorry if that doesn’t make any sense, this felt like a safe place to share and I value your experiences on this super complex journey!

Addictedtobeauty · 08/08/2024 21:23

@Hellijoy Personally, I hate it when people comment on appearance, especially weight. In this age of body positivity, I think everyone should be free to be who they are without judgement, Of course, if you share your story with others, it’s fine but if they know nothing about you, I think it’s a topic of conversation best left alone and quite intrusive. Am I odd?
