I only managed 700 calories yesterday but it wasn't through choice. I don't start eating until 12pm ish (never have done) and I'm struggling to fit them in but having more snacks today! (Still on 2.5mg, first week)

I'm struggling to get them in too!! I'm sat at about 600 today and that's only because of the yoghurt I had 😩

SnacklessWonder · 15/08/2024 14:22

I just had a 147 calorie protein shake and my tummy feels full. I can't eat anything now for a while! Yet, I am still hungry!

I have had this sensation a number of times since starting MJ ...a full tummy so can't/struggle to eat more at the same time as feeling Hungry...it's such an odd feeling!

SnacklessWonder · 15/08/2024 15:08

It's pretty constant for me @DreamingofGinoclock I'm still always hungry but have not got willpower to resist and then feel too full or bloated to eat anyway but I do wish the hunger pangs would disappear

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 15:12

@SnacklessWonder @DreamingofGinoclock I've noticed the exact same thing but then paused and realised I'm not hungry but bored/thirsty!

Yes they definitely do - it’s on more staple shopping list 😂 it’s in a blue bottle with the gaviscon etc. I usually for 60mls and it sorts me right out. Keep us updated!

TMI but ... success! I had the MoM and also the suppositories mentioned by @CeruleanDive, I think, so not sure if it was the combined effect. Definitely taking both on holiday! Thank you all.

Just out of curiosity..... is there anyone with a start weight of close to 20st who can give me an idea of how many calories ish I should be eating to lose a couple of lb a week without stalking my metabolism? I'm 5 foot 4 age 49

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 17:37

Anyone have experience in switching from voy? Get the feeling after my call they'll be cancelling my prescription due to previous binge eating issues. Considering just going to boots and starting their 2.5mg as it's working well for me so far

Weightloss20 · 15/08/2024 17:56

Please can someone help me decide whether to stay on 2.5mg or move up to 5?

I tried Wegovy for my first pen but switched to Mounjaro for my second and I have lost a stone so far. My only problem is I have just taken my fourth injection and my hunger seems to be coming back already.. I am worried about moving up to 5mg as I could barely eat anything on 2.5mg and I never ever felt hungry! I had to force myself to eat..

Does that hungry feeling mean you're ready to move to 5mg? Or shall I stick to 2.5 for my next pen and hope I get the same results that I have been getting?

I don't want to move to 5mg if it suppresses hunger even more than the 2.5mg

https://www.myprotein.com/thezone/nutrition/how-to-calculate-bmr-tdee/#calbmr

A fairly ‘accurate’ indication of how many calories you’ll need to consume to lose or maintain your weight is to calculate your BMR and TDEE. Unfortunately it doesn’t take into account any health or hormonal factors that an individual may have.

The link above is informative.

I've stayed on 2.5 for 2 pens (now week 8) and I though I have a 5 pen in the fridge I'm intending to start with 2.5 from it. I have been losing on 2.5 with no side effects so don't want to risk it with 5. I'm not sure 5 would help with hunger tbh lots of people have said it doesn't make as much difference as they thought it would

I think the very very simple rule of thumb is, if you are eating in a calorie deficit and you consistently losing weight then you do not need to move up.

It also depends what you mean by 'hunger'. If you get hungry, then eat your meal and afterwards you feel that you have eaten enough and are satisfied, then that is perfect and what you should be feeling.

If you never feel hunger and struggle to eat then you need to stay on the same dose for a while and see if it gets better. If it does not then you may even need to reduce your dose. Not feeling hunger at mealtimes is not ideal, and not the aim of this drug.

I suspect that in the next year or so, when people have lost their weight and face the real world without the drug, that the ones who dosed for total suppression and massively under-ate in a race to lose as quickly as possible will be the ones complaining that they have regained all their weight. This is the chance we have to fix/learn about whatever is wrong with our bodies that causes us to overeat, and to learn to listen and understand when we are truly hungry and when we are truly not, and to act appropriately.

I just want to say thank you all for this thread… I am about to start (once I get back from holiday) and all your messages, candid, informative and caring have helped me make the decision to go for it.

I'm not expecting to get a lot of support IRL so I will be here once I’ve taken the plunge (pun intended)

TMI grumble, probably not MJ related

Peri is kicking my butt today. I use a moon cup, have for years. Only ever needed to empty when toileting, never leaked. This week I've had 5 days of light flow then suddenly yesterday and today I've had have experienced what can only be described as flooding several times. Urgent run to empty cup, every 2 hours or so. Really hope this doesn't become a regular thing - have been on HRT over a year and had been stable so this change is most unwelcome...

Am looking at old photos, I have lost a lot of weight around my face but when I was heavier I still saw the same person I see now in the mirror - it's photos that show me how different I look (the opposite of dysmorphic I think, thought I looked better than I did!).

I would contact my GP if I were you. I have never used a moon cup but I have always had funny periods, and if this is irregular for you, it needs checking out.

I only ever use pads so they say if you're flooding pads every 1-2 hours then it's urgent.

It might be something and it might be nothing, fingers crossed for the latter which it most likely is but for peace of mind.

I’m approaching my 4th jab so early days. Have lost a few pounds but nothing massive. So far so good. But tonight I’m really struggling with feeling a bit low and tired for various reasons, and am craving a takeaway or some chocolate. Except I’m also not, in that I’ve run through in my head what I would usually really fancy (Indian, burger, chocolate etc) and they don’t appeal. Which is fantastic I suppose- exactly what MJ helps with. But what do I do to deal with the low mood/ desire to treat myself to feel better/ want something to look forward to? I guess this is a time I would have used food for emotional support, and I am missing that instant perk-up of knowing I have something delicious tucked away. Just thinking aloud really, and know I need to distract myself with something and get an early night. But interested in whether any of you old-timers on MJ have any advice?

I'm on day 3 and feel the same way - but also know I do not want food at all! So instead I've got a weight loss rewards list 🤣

Means I can reward myself, but at intervals

Week 1 2.5mg, injected on Sunday had no side effects. Struggled to hit my calories but planned out carefully today to hit them as close as possible. Halfway through my dinner and I've got such bad tummy ache, low down and feel sick. Hoping it will pass and I can carry on my dinner later.
